Quick question... Any dairy free soy free sugar free Medifast recipes? Thanks in advance for any answer or 2. Another question... Hi Everybody,.

I've just signed up for my first doctor's appointment, having been told by my doctors that I was a prime candidate for GBS. I'm VERY excited and have joined this group to make friends and learn all I can about the process..

Many, many years ago, my mother had the.

Surgery.

(like in the late 70s). She was only allowed to eat baby Medifast food when she got out of the hospital.....is it still that way?.

Hugs to all,.

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you an answer..

Hi Rhonda!!.

Am so excited to meet someone who is just starting out like I am. I knew years ago that I wanted GBS, but didn't know if my insurance would cover it. Also, I have stage 4 RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy), and was afraid that the.

Surgery.

Would make the RSD worse. Now that my pain management doctors have given me the go-ahead, I'm so excited I almost can't stand it. Let's stay in touch and do this together, OK?.

Hugs.

Good luck on your journey Robyn. I just got out of.

Surgery.

A little over a week ago and have DEFINATELY not eaten baby food. Actually it's not something you should do. The most important thing after.

Surgery.

Is getting in liquids like jello and broth and water and popsicles. Then you progress to soft food. I can honestly say that getting GBS was the best present I ever gave myself! Theresa..

Thanks Teresa!.

Boy, it's amazing how much the process has changed since my mom's time! Thanks so much for the info..... the more of it I have, the better prepared I will be to talk to my doctor on the 30th!! I'm a little nervous about all I've heard and read today, but I'm not giving up. I won't let the fear take over......GBS could give me part of my life back!.

Hi Beth,.

Thanks so much for all the good words. I'm really happy to have found Daily Strength. I have a question.....why did it take you 16 months to get to your.

Date. I ask this because the receptionist at my doctor's office told me it would only take about 2 months from my first orientation to my.

Surgery.

Now, I'm wondering if the receptionist knew what she was.

Talking.

About. I don't know if I could do a 16 month wait. BTW, to anyone.

Reading.

This, what is the average wait time that you guys have experienced?.

From what I have seen over the last two years, many doctors and hospitals have different approaches to doing GBS. I had to lose 10% of my weight; another friend had to just show up the day of.

Surgery.

There are also many different pre and post op liquid/food programs. The best advice I have seen regarding these difference is to stick to the program that is setup by your medical team...

Welcome to the group! I had.

Surgery.

On 11/3/2010. I did clear liquids, full liquids, pureed and will start soft Medifast food on Thanksgiving. I guess I will have something extra to be thankful for!! I was put on a liver shrinking Medifast diet 3 months prior to my.

Surgery.

I wasn't required to lose any weight, just told not to GAIN any. The length of your pre op requirements depends on your insurance. Mine only required 3 months of supervised weight loss..

Good luck on your journey..,Look forward to hearing from you...

Welcome Robyn, so happy you found us!.

I am in a similar place as you. I have done some pre-op testing already (blood tests, lung function, chest x-rays, EKG). I have my treadmill stress test tomorrow. My first appointment with my team (bariatrician, psychologist, nutritionist, etc.) is on Monday..

I have to have 4 visits with the team and finish my tests (still have a.

Sleep.

Apnea test to go, at least) and then, if they feel I am ready, I can schedule the.

Surgery.

They tell me it will probably be in January..

You will love this group. You will learn a bunch! And, you will definitely feel the support..

See you around! :-)).

Hi Rath,.

Thanks so much for all the good words and thoughts. Believe it or not, hearing the stories that I've heard since I joined yesterday, I'm more frightened now that I was before. What if they tell me I have to lose 10percent of my weight before they'll do the.

Surgery.

? If I could lose the weight, I wouldn't be looking into WLS....know what I mean? I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and call the doctor's office back and see what info I can glean from them. Don't think I can hang on till the 30th for answers. :) Thanks so much for letting me vent!!.

After just 24 hours here I've learned how right you are. I've met some of the nicest folks on the planet since yesterday. I've gotten more info at this site than I have from any doctor that I've seen in the past 5 years. Thanks so much for all the kind words, and for being SO right about Daily Strength!!.

Hi Amber!.

I'm so glad to have found a WLS buddy who is doing this on the same day as me. Like you, I'm a little nervous and I have a LOT of questions. I just.

Hope.

They answer questions at the orientation and don't make me wait till I see the doctor (which I'm sure will be after Jan 1). I just don't think I can wait that long for answers!!.

I'm so excited for both of us!!.

Welcome to our GBS family and GOOD FOR YOU! This is a roller coaster ride. I have found that while I thought I was fully prepared, I wasn't! You are going to encounter some things that you didn't anticipate. But I have to tell you, the first time you HAVE to go shopping for clothes and you have to try on 2 or 3 sizes because you keep grabbing things that are way too big, you will find it is worth it. Or if you have pain caused by your weight, and on day you realize you haven't hurt for weeks, it is worth it. When your kids or spouse can put their arms ALL the way around you, it is worth it! Enjoy the ride!..

Oh, and every surgeon has their own program for nutrition after.

Surgery.

Follow their instructions to the best of your ability. Don't rush anything (believe me you will probably have days that you wish you could). And become friends with your nutritionist!..
