Got a quick question: Anyone have any luck on the Medifast Diet? Many thanks for any response. 2nd question I got is.. I just started....literally I mean Ijust made my first Medifast meal and put the bowl in the sink and walked away. I had the Peach oatmeal??? Do all the foods taste like that? I am pretty upset. I added a little splenda and it got a little better but man it was not good. Any ideas? Words of encouragement? FYI...I did finish it.

Thanks for any help..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

For me, the oatmeal and scrambled eggs were the worst. I tried them different ways but nothing helped the taste and texture for me. Not everything is like that. I have found that I love the bars, puffs, and cinn. pretzels. I also like the puddings and van and choc shakes.

Keep trying you will find the food that works for you!..

I hated the oatmeal when I first got it, so much so that I didn't even try it again for three months. I tried it a couple of weeks ago, and it was actually ok. I know you've read that your taste does change, but really, it does. Once you're on plan for a while and off the other foods, you really do learn to like the Medifast foods. Put the oatmeal aside and try other things. I also suggest that you don't buy the variety packs.

I actually crave some of the meals now. Try the Parmesan Puffs and the pretzels. They are very good. The Caramel Crunch bar is wonderful too. Stick with it and find what you like..

You may want to soak the oatmeal before you eat it. It does make it taste better. Also, you may want to try making the oatmeal cookie recipe that is on the side of the box. The cookies are pretty good if you don't use too much water and flatten them out before you put them in the oven. The recipe board has tons of recipes to try out as well. Good luck!..

I'm 6 months in and I still find the oatmeal repulsive, except when it's in the form of muffins - so much so that I actually order oatmeal to make them with.

Recipe:.

1 Medifast oatmeal any flavor.

1 Medifast eggs.

1 Medifast shake - the flavor you like the least (that would be banana or strawberry for me).

2 pkts splenda.

2 tsp baking powder.

Cinnamon to taste.

Mix it all together.

In a 1/2 cup measure add 1 tsp extract or 1 Tbl sugar free syrup of your choice & 1/3 cup water. Stir into dry ingredients. Add water 1 tbl at a time until texture of icing. Spray muffin tin with Pam & divide batter between 3 tins. Bake at 325 until toothpick comes out clean (about 15 min) wrap and keep in fridge. Yum!.

The rest of he foods are pretty good. I also order only what I like - life's too short to eat strawberry bars or banana shakes! My favorites are the dark chocolate anti-oxidant shake, peanut butter bars, oatmeal bars, chili nacho puffs, pretzels, chocolate pudding, and the pancakes. But everybody has different tastes. Keep tasting and know that in two weeks things will start tasting much, much better!..

I did a lot of reading on these forums before I ever started and learned a lot. When I got the peach oatmeal I made the muffins on the back of the box. Best thing I ever did. Then for an even quicker thing, I made the muffin mix and then just made one large pancake instead of the muffins. Added a TB of Walden Farms pancake syrup, a few shots of spray butter and yummy! I do that with all the oatmeal..

Whatever you do, if you don't ever want to eat it again, and you still have 6 in a box, send back whatever you want and exchange for what you like. I returned 8 boxes of stuff and got what I wanted and was happier for it...

I couldn't agree more about the oatmeal - YUCKO!!! Here's a simple way to make a delicious oatmeal bar:.

Oatmeal Bars.

1 pk oatmeal.

2 Tbs SF Syrup (1 condiment).

3 Tbs water.

1/4 tsp baking powder-aluminum free (1/2 condiment).

Spray plastic container or ramikin with Pam. Empty oatmeal, add baking powder and stir. Add wet ingredients, stir, and let sit for 5 minutes (this is key). Microwave for 55 seconds (1100 watt microwave). If you don't want to use a condiment, you can use all water, but it won't be as sweet..

My favorite syrup to use with the peach oatmeal is the Torani SF Pumpkin Pie. When it comes out of the microwave, you can either sprinkle a little Splenda with cinnamon on top or dip it in a little SF Walden Farms pancake syrup - YUM!!!.

Joy.

WEEKS (1 - 4): -7, -4, -3, -6 (-20 lbs. & 11").

WEEKS (5 - 8): -2, -3, -2, -3 (-10 lbs. & 8").

The peach oatmeal is my favorite also. I put the water in, mix it up and microwave it. I then take it out, put in the sweetener & cinnamon, stir and let it set for about 5 min. or more. I usually don't have to reheat it, but if I do, it's no biggie. I only have to reheat for maybe 15-20 sec.

It's more like Quaker oats....... well, kind of...

... LOL...

Do not fret! Some of it is good. Some of it is not so good. Some of it gets better with time. If you stick with it, you will find what you really like and what you really don't. I recommend trying everything at least twice, with a few weeks in between. You will be surprised that once your tastes change, some of it becomes great.

Now I can't live without them!.

Good Luck!..

I agree with you. I have never been able to tolerate the oatmeal or any flavor of the shakes, but the drinks are easy to get down. The tea and fruit punch, any of those are fairly decent. I can tolerate the chicken soup too, and I add Egg Beaters to it to get my lean out of the way. I also have to add a touch of salt to the soup for some flavor. There is a drink "Splash" special on right now, and I just bought two of them, and before the special is over will buy 2 more.

If wasn't for the drinks, I would have quit this plan a few days after I started. Also, if I'm about to lose it due to needing craving something sweet, I have Atkins candybars in the house and I eat one of them with no effect on my Medifast plan/ketosis. I take one with me to family gatherings and it it when the desserts are being handed out. They have gotten me through several bad times. Good luck!.

PS- For some reason my ticker is not moving. It should day 293#. I log it on my page but it rarely changes. I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

Different people have different tastes. I don't like the peach oatmeal, either, but I do like some of the other foods. Discover what you do like and change your next order accordingly. Also, there are some great recommendations for doctoring the foods to make them more enjoyable. Hot sauce to chili, etc. Good luck!..

Advice: don't start with the oatmeal.

Or...you could set it aside for now and come back to it later when your taste buds change. I set my oatmeal aside, came back to it later and made it into oatmeal muffins/bars. Then added some walden farms rasp. jelly....it really improved the taste.

I found the bars, soaked chili/stew, chocolate pudding (as pudding/shake) and puffs/pretzels to be much more pleasant..

Hang in there..

First, try something else. That's the beauty of the plan: there's a lot of variety to suit different tastes..

Second, realize that none of the food is going to taste OMG BEST FOOD EVAR! Some of the food I do like quite a bit, some of it I'm more "meh" about. I really am not a fan of coffee, but I'll even drink the swiss mocha shakes every other week or so. I got them for free and dang it, the food is expensive, so I'm eating what I got!.

Third, and I think this one is most important, is to change your attitude about food. Eat to live rather than live to eat. Treat food as fuel and medicine, not as something luxurious or decadent. That got us in trouble in the first place! Instead, meals should be a chore to get over with so you can move on to something far more exciting and fulfilling in your day. The portions are really small, especially the eggs and oatmeal. One, two, three bites of oatmeal and it's gone.

For the oatmeal, I like to make a simple muffin. I don't add a lot of fancy stuff and I don't want to mix meal packets. I put in 4-5 tablespoons of water, or 4 water, 1 eggbeaters, then 1/8 tsp baking powder. Microwave for 1 minute, check it out (sometimes I turn it over) and microwave for another 45 seconds or so. I don't know why but the change in texture makes it a lot easier to eat..

Soak your chicken noodle, chicken/rice, beef stew, and chili. I soak mine overnight but many find that soaking for 1-4 hours is enough...

1 tsp vanilla or almond extract.

1 tsp vinegar.

1/3 cup water.
