I had to stay four days. The first night was in observation (as I am a full mask.

CPAP.

) the next two were in a high maintenance ward (as I was on a diabetic protocol) and the last night was self-serve, lol..

I AM the worst case scenario. :)..

It can vary from program to program and also based on what insurance you have and what they will cover. Also, depends on whether you have your.

Surgery.

Open or laproscopic and RNY vs sleeve or banding..

Our surgeon is doing banding as an outpatient procedure now..

I had my RNY laproscopically. I was in 1 night. My.

Surgery.

Was at 2 pm on a Thursday and I was discharged by about 5 pm on Friday..

Some people with more comorbidities will stay 2 nights esp diabetics so they can monitor blood sugars post op for awhile, people with breathing and resp. issues may need a longer stay if they have trouble extubating (getting the tube out of airway post op) so that they can watch their resp status a bit longer..

Good Luck! Keep us posted!.

I went in on Tuesday morning and was discharged on Thursday around noon. It was my choice to go home. My doc said I could stay one more day but I was ready to get out of there!! I had no complications other than a little blip of pain when they switched me from.

Morphine.

To liquid oral meds. But they moved me to a pain pill and all was smooth sailing again. No pain meds after two days of being home. Best of luck to you you will be in my prayers!!..

I stayed only 1 night, my doc was late doing his rounds and when he did come he said he would release me the next day, but I had passed all the tests and he said if it wasn't dark out he would release me he said he does like to release after dark but I complained that I wanted to go so he let me go..

I have an autistic daughter who I had told I would be home that night, she would not understand if I didn't come home and would have been a total problem for my mom who was staying with her..

My suggestion is to tell your daughter ahead of time 2 days just in case and if you get home early then it is a surprise and not expected. I wish that is what I would of told my daughter then it wouldn't have been a problem..

Good luck!.
