The answer is Yes, although you might wanna make sure and wait for another person to confirm this as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Medifast guys because they can give you help better...

Hello .. I would like to join Diamonds in the Rough. I joined Medifast on 7/19/2010 and am down 12lbs. We cant afford 2 Medifast memberships, so my husband is doing Slimfast and havin 100 calorie snacks for his other meals and then we have a L&G meal together. I turn 40 this year and he turns 50 so we really want to do this together and for real this time. I started at 380 in August 2009 and lost 35lbs and then hit a plateau.

So far, so good. I love all the support I have found on here. Thank you...

Welcome back Joyce! So glad you had a fabulous family vacation. Congrats on hitting the 100 lb. weight loss mark. You so inspire me.

Isn't it just the best reward when people you haven't seen in a long time notice the new you? Thanks for the August Roll Call as well. I always copy and print it. I much prefer to call people by their real name..

Welcome Angie and Belinda.

!!! So glad to have you join this group on our journey to health! There are so many wonderful "Diamonds" here to help, motivate, encourage, support and even give you a kick in the butt (if you feel you need it). I've only been on this Medifast journey since April 5th. I would have never lost the "49 lbs." I've lost so far had it not only been for this wonderful program, but the support I've received from these beautiful women (and Mike). We've all lost and gained hundreds of pounds over the years and who else could know how to support us, except one another. I'm always trying new recipes to keep things exciting. Tonight my L&G was delicious cauliflower pizza and later I will enjoy chocolate covered cinnamon pretzels made by combining my 2 remaining Medifast meals of the day (hot cocoa & cinnamon pretzel sticks).

Because of trying different recipes and combinations, I can honestly say that I haven't once been bored over the past 16 weeks of being on MF. I could have.

Said that on any other diet!.

I'll be back later to check in on everyone!.

Day 5 - Checking in..

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!.

Today and yesterday seem to be a little better. The first few days, I wanted to die. I know it was from sugar detox mainly since me and sugar go waaaaaay back! I still seem to feel...I guess... sort of weak. Will that get better too?.

Let's talk about my breath! Well, let's not really talk about it, but it's pretty darn funky..... I was doing a little reading and learned that it's normal. I bought 3 packs of gum and I've been drinking lots of H2o!.

We had an unplanned invite to a BBQ today and went. I ate a few pickle slices while I was there, but that was it. I didn't want to stray, especially since I am just starting out. Next time, I will plan and eat at the event..

I look forward to getting to know all of you on this new path I have chosen. Are any of you reading the book and doing the lessons in Dr. A's Habits of Health?? Just curious..

Hey Belinda and Angie! So glad we are all starting at the same time!.

Thank you for the warm welcomes. I had some NSV (Non-scale Vistories today). One was figuring out what NSV was. HA! Seriously I had a great day..

First, I walked 3 miles in 50 minutes with my 11 month old labradoodle puppy, Toby. trust me, that is an adventure in itself..

Secondly, the only store I can shop in is Catherines. My closet is full of 5x tops that are admittedly to big, but I try to hide all the rolls and wear them long to hide my large stomach. I am 5'10" so it is hard to find that big and long of shirt. Now that I am down 45lbs, the 5x are very sloppy looking. I stopped at Catherines today and I bought all 3x tops and even thru in a couple 2x tops for our trip to Vegas in November..

I am so proud of myself. I have been reading all these posts and seeing all the weight everyone lost in the first month. My first week was 10lbs and this week (weigh day is monday) will be 2lbs. Yes, I peeked and weighed a bit early because I was so anxious to see a -5 or -6 number on the scale when that didnt happen I got pretty depressed, but this day has told me that I am in this for the long haul and if I stay on plan and stop comparing myself to everyone else, I will be just fine..

Have a great day everyone...

I would also like to join. I have lost about 35 lbs on my own as I started at 304, part of that 35lbs was from the help of Medifast but I struggled to stay OP. This past week I have seriously re-commited weighing in last Monday at 267. I will have weigh ins every Monday and I could really use this group to keep me on track/accountable!..

Hello Getting2Happy, I wish you all the luck and strength to stay OP. One thing for me that is a major plus is that my Health coach is also a co-worker, so quitting or not weighing in is not really an option. There are about 10 of us doing this at work right now and we meet every Friday over lunch to watch Dr A's video and talk about our week and the struggles we may face over the weekend. I cant wait to share the Cauliflower pizza with them..

If you even need to talk, we are all right here. Hang on tight, if you are like me, this will be a long and bumpy ride but I CAN DO THIS!..

Some helpful tips we having been sharing all the time here with the Diamonds:.

*This program is 90% mental, for sure!.

*Drink your water daily, and then drink some more for good measure!.

*Plan, plan, plan! There is never a reason to miss a meal or for you to miss out on events.

If you plan ahead..

*Even vacationing and staying OP is possible (Trust me.

*Make good choices..

Good evening Diamonds!.

Welcome to all the new Diamonds! Glad to see our group of intrepid dieters is growing. I only have a few minutes to catch up since I'm hosting all 4 granddaughters (ages 12-5) for a week of vacation Bible school. I hope to survive it. I'v got my bars and pretzels packed for survival and plan on staying out of the kitchen this week..

If I make it to the end of the week, I go on vacation Saturday. I'll be OP for this one and I'm so ready for it. We've rented a house at the beach and I don't have to worry about what we'll eat. Nice!.

I'll check in with all of you tomorrow. Have a great OP week!..

Hello Diamonds!.

Welcome to all the newbies. This is a great group of people, you all made a good choice..

Jrain : I have hypothyroid also. Some of the meals don't have soy in them. I usually have a hot cocoa in the morning as my first meal since I take my thyroid meds in the morning. Medifast is working for me even with the thyroid issues. Good luck to you!.

This was the best weight loss week I've had so far. It even beat out week one. I lost over 6 lbs this week. At first I thought my scale might be damaged since I moved it, but I have another scale I can compare it to, and the second scale gave me the same number. I blew past my last goal of 220 lbs (well, by 2 lbs anyway). My next goal is to be overweight and out of the obese category.

Back from my weigh-in. I lost one pound. Oh well average is 3.76 per week. I have to admit I'm disappointed, because this week was hard. I've been OP no cheating or anything. I haven't really felt like cheating.

I bought some non soy meals so I can eat them in the morning after I take my synthroid..

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I'm trying out a new recipe tonight for L&G I'll post it if it's any good...

Just wanted to check in tonight....I've been emotional the last 2 days. I guess my body and mind is used to having a thick sludge of sugar traveling around to keep me even keeled because I have gotten upset and cried about two different things the past 2 days. It's not that tom or anything so it must just be from not having the food in my system or having it to fall back on..

Jrain ~ a pound is still equivalent to 4 sticks of butter!.

Hello everyone else and hello to the new folks! I guess I can say that now since I've been here a few days.

Hi Diamonds!.

Wow, we are bursting at the seams with brand new sparkly diamonds!!.

Welcome to you all!.

As someone who gains weight on strictly followed weight watchers, I can testify to the fact that this program works, if you work it..

For me, the first week sucked rocks... I was eying the babies at work, thinking they might make tasty snacks and felt awful. Week 2 the hunger went away, and with it the headaches, major grumpiness, and achenes. And the cravings for sugar & starch... for the first time EVER. I was a total slug until the middle of my 4th wk, and then I finally got the Medifast energy every body talks about.

Joyce -.

100 pounds gone forever!!!! I'm doing the happy dance in your honor.

And on vacation yet... you are amazing. Have a great time with your grandchildren!.

Janie - Eating large quantities of soy products can affect hormone levels (leading to increased PMS symptoms & more freq periods) and if you are on thyroid meds they can inhibit absorption. If you've been eating the soy products in the morning - this could definitely cause fatigue & also the slow weight loss. The endocrinologist I work with suggests thyroid meds be taken on an empty stomach and that no soy be consumed for the first 2 Medifast meals. My issue isn't thyroid, but I was having period every two weeks. When I started having 3 non-soy & 2 soy products daily, my hormones settled down, my cycle normalized, and I became a tolerable human being again. There are several non-soy products.

Jenn - 6 pounds?!?! Way to rock this program! Did you do anything differently this past week?.

Mike - Wow, you're going to ride 60 miles in one day? It's making my legs ache just thinking about it! Good for you, riding your bike to & from work every day this week!.

Hugs to everyone, thank you for sharing this journey with me!.

AFM: I'm getting ready for 5 days in Newport beach with my DS & DBL, DB, and my niece & nephew. This will be my first plane ride since loosing an appreciable amount of weight and I am excitedly anticipating FITTING in the seat and not having to ask for a seat belt extension! Looking forward to some unwind time, walking along the beach, reading a trashy novel, & doing arts & crafts with the kids. I leave Thursday after work, so I am starting my packing tonight. All of my ziplock bags of Medifast goodies await the fresh sea air! I'll make some muffins tomorrow night & Ill be good to go. I got some "Fit Flops" on clearance this weekend & am surprised at how sore my thighs & butt are after wearing them for 2 days. I guess they really do make you use different muscles..

Drink up my friends (water of course!) and have a terrific OP Tuesday!.

Family who means well, but can't help leaving potato chips, chocolate muffins, fried chicken, pistachios, etc. out on the counters..

Thanks for the encouragement! I bought some non-soy meals for mornings..

I just wanted to tell you after I had been on Medifast about 5 days I had a panic attack! I think it was my mind just getting used to not eating emotionally or something. I even called my Medifast counselor to see if it was normal (whatever that is) She had never had heard that from anyone before. When you think about it, it's not just our bodies getting used to the MF, it's our minds as well. I had a total of 3 panicky episodes that day, and I just had to reassure myself I was still in control, and had choices to make. I can go off Medifast if I want to, I'm just not choosing to right now. I made it through and now I'm doing fine! Pamper yourself a little. These are big changes...

Sharon : (in response to your question) I totally changed up my week. I did MUCH less exercise, and the exercise I did was different then what I've been doing the last 2 months. (I did Leslie Sansone walking videos and a kettlebell video). Plus, as I said the previous 2 weeks had very small amounts of weight lost. Also, it was TOM last week and I always lose a little more that week, and have a slower week right before. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on the exercise.

Oh well, I'm learning lots of stuff about fitness and health on this journey!.

Hi Kori!!! You are still rockin this program!!.

Sharon - interesting that you were talking about hormones. We got mine checked out this week and I'm very off on two of them. My prescription is at a compounding pharmacy and I'm hoping for it to be ready on Thursday. I'm really hoping that it will help straighten me out a bit. Hi ya'll. I'm new to the program, well, sort of. I am ordering Medifast as soon as I get my next paycheck in, lol! Gotta keep some money in the bank for those unexpecteds, right? Til then, I'm hoping that the discussion boards and community here will help me stay motivated to do my best NOW and not have "one last hurrah!" So, here's my story....

I've been overweight for all of my adult life. I was a swimmer in high school, but never had that "swimmer slim body." My lowest weight was a very curvy 125-130. After I graduated and went off to college, I began gaining weight, slowly at first. After I had my first child, I was only 22 and weighed over 200 pounds!.

I dieted and yo-yo'd up and down, eventually gaining 50 more pounds when I got pregnant with twins at 27. So yes, pregnant for TWINS starting at 250. Amazingly, my weight gain stopped, probably because I was so worried about eating well for my girls. I gained a lot of fluid (about 50 pounds of fluid, ok, yeah, I lied, 60 pounds!), but no fat. I dropped 80 pounds within two weeks of delivering my healthy identical twin girls. I was so pumped up..

But soon, the life of a mom of three got to me, physically and emotionally. I ate whatever was quickest (not healthy stuff, either), and sat in a rocking chair most of the day feeding or rocking babies. I didn't sleep, and I didn't get out of the house much. My older child wanted me to play with him, but I just didn't have the energy. I was always grumpy or too tired. Part of that is having two babies, I know, but another part was that I was gaining weight again.

(Not to mention getting back up!).

Now my twins are 8 months old, my son is turning 6, and I am 28 and can't even play ball or run around the yard with my kids. I'm constantly out of breath, sweaty, and just plumb uncomfortable. I'm in the middle of filing for divorce from a man who decided he "just doesn't want to live the family life.".

Instead of wallowing, I am moving FORWARD. For my kids, yes. For me, mostly. (Oh, I just felt selfish and guilty for even thinking, much less typing that. One thing to work on is the constant feeling that I should apologize for everything!).

I've lost a little weight with dieting and counting calories, but I've been here, done this before. I WANT to change my life, but even as I type this, I don't want to feel hopeful because I don't want to fail again. So, here goes again, maybe this time I'll be able to do it.....

Holy smokes diamonds, were bursting at the seams! How cool is that?.

Welcome to all, you have chosen a very supportive & positive home base. There is a lot of experience, wisdom, humor and success within our group. I can't tell you how often these fine folks have helped me stay on track or climb back on the horse when I've fallen off. We are on a life changing journey together, enjoy the walk!.

Joyce - Your ticker makes me smile every time I see it!!!! I think we may need an official 100pound portrait.

Karen- Ah, hormones... I'm seeing my doc about getting some bioidentical hormones on board tomorrow. The fairly rapid weight loss and eternal state of perimenopause I seem to be in have left me in hormonal starvation. I went off of BC pills 3 months ago and my joints have gotten dramatically worse... which my gyn tells me is actually a very common issue for women in perimenopause. I hadn't heard this before, went on line & asked friends, who all verified this info.

And Janie, rapidly changing estrogen levels can cause anxiety as well. Fat stores hormones & when you lose rapidly, your system is flooded with the hormones released by the fat. Learning how to deal with life sans eating our way through it also causes the emotions to flair. But sometimes it helps me to get through the firestorm, knowing there is some chemistry involved..

I better get my packing finished, I just wanted to check in and welcome all the newbies!.

Take good care my friends!.

I am starting to feel better too. I am still waiting for the "energy" part to kick in, but I am not feeling weak like I was..

I really need to make one of my habit changes be about sleep! I need to have my butt in bed by 10 pm each night. I just need to make this happen!.

Sharon - OMG! You're getting ready to be in onederland and I couldn't be happier for you!!! Hopefully, I won't be too far behind you.

Keep up the great work because you ALWAYS inspire me!.

Joyce - WOW, you are doing so well and I'm so proud of you. You are going to LOVE the book "Women, Food and God". I'm reading it for the 3rd time now and I'm still learning things. This book has saved my life, so let me know what you think of it..

Mary - Have fun on your vacation and remember to RELAX and UNWIND because you deserve it!.

AFM - I'm still amazed that I continue to lose weight every week. I've never been on any plan where I hadn't plateaued by now. I will take pictures at my half way point and post them with my before pictures. I will warn you now, the before pics are quite shocking, but they don't lie. Joyce had some great advice to all the newbies - Take before pics and definitely measure! My hubby leaves this coming Friday for a week of lobstering in the beautiful Florida Keys with his two brothers. They've been doing this for the past 30+ years.

Unless you lobster, fish or get drunk, there's not a whole lot to do down there. We've done the tourist thing so many times and now the cruise ships use Key West as a port so it gets crazy busy. I'm glad he gets to spend time with his brothers and at least now I don't have to make 3 separate dinners each night - LOL!.

Good morning Diamond Girls! It's nice to be welcomed so warmly...so thank you! I love to hear all about your successes...it's very motivational..

I know today is going to be a great day! Today is my son's 11th birthday (I can't believe it's been that long already) and we're going bike shopping today and then we'll go out to dinner when my DH gets home from work. My son chose Old Country Buffet for his dinner choice. I was like, where? Forget a nice restaurant, that's what he wants. I guess I can find plenty of leans and salad at the buffet. Another reason today will be great is that I weighed in at 276 this morning. I am down 6 lbs for the week and out of the 280's..

Have a great one!..

Hi Diamonds!.

Mary, you're right every pound or ounce lost is a good one!.

Joy, looking forward to seeing your photos. Have you seen mine??? Yours couldn't be worse, girl. I still can't believe that was me. Sad thing is that I still see that in the mirror sometimes.. You are doing awesome. Enjoy some alone time while your dh is away!.

Daisy, you're right that you can find good food on the buffett! Lots of L & G!! Wow, girl, 6 lbs. in a week and 65 total is awesome! I don't think I've lost 6 lbs. since the first week when I lost 8.8. I would love to have a 6 lb. week..

Hope everyone else is doing well and staying OP. I know this is a busy time of year for everyone. Of course, what time of year isn't, right?.

Bye for now...

Hi Everyone!!.

I'm at my daughter's still on plan, but I'm still feeling tired and HUNGRY!! I have no energy. I guess it's going to take longer for me to feel better. I'm at 3.5 weeks. I've been drinking water, and my first 2 meals are non soy. Visiting with my grandbaby makes me feel really good no matter what. I read someone on here didn't feel better til the 4th week, so I'm holding on to that.

Hey Joyce - I have looked at your pictures and they've always inspired me, just like you! My before pics are dreadful because I hadn't had a haircut/highlight in 8 months and I didn't smile. After all, what was there to smile about?! After reading "Women Food and God", that feeling of sadness has left me. I've finally realized that reaching my weight loss goal, isn't going to change my insides at all. I'm learning to appreciate all that my body does for me. I can relate to how you were saying that sometimes you look in the mirror and still see the heavier you. I used to look in the mirror and while I'd be proud of my shrinking body, all I could see was the loose skin hanging from my arms that used to look somewhat firm (of course only because they were full of fat).

Without them, I wouldn't be able to hug my son and tell him how much I love him. I wouldn't be able to sit and hold my mother's hand and comfort her through the hard times she's been dealing with. I would be able to massage my hubby's back after he's put in a long hard day at work. I'm learning to appreciate my over-sized thighs as well. They hold the major muscles in my legs so I can walk, drive and dance around my house.

As the pounds fall off thanks to Medifast, the hard work is appreciating what and who I am in this world. It's so much harder to sit through the pain, sorrow, etc. and feel it, than what I did before, which was to turn to food as a comfort and numb myself. Food felt like it comforted me in the moment, but the long term damage it did to my body was no comfort at all. Oh gosh, here I go getting deep again.

! I'm really trying to change on the inside this time so I can stop this cycle. It's funny when you change how you look at and appreciate your body, going off program never even enters your mind. Instead you ask yourself, "Is eating what I know is wrong for my body a way of loving and taking care of myself"? We all know the answer to that one. Let's all choose to LOVE and respect our bodies!!! After all, it's the only one we're ever going to get.

Hello! Just checking in for the day..

I am actually going to go ahead and order some more food so that I have a little more variety. Do any of you actually *like* the vanilla pudding?? I see a lot of people gripe about it, but I didn't think the chocolate was bad so I was going to order the vanilla...... Just figured I'd ask..

This is day 10 for me and I am going to get geared up and start adding in some exercise next week. I'm feeling stronger. I also like the way that food doesn't seem like it has a hold on me right now..

Hi Kori! I grew up in Simi Valley. What a brave soul you are starting the plan before Christmas! You have had some terrific success! Great for you! Yeah, who knew we'd be excited to have an "overweight" status! Too funny!.

Joy ~ One of the things that has helped me over the last few years to help tighten my skin is skin brushing! It also helps with moving lymph fluids and circulation AND it feels awesome!.

Hello everyone else! Sorry I don't have time to personalize, I have to get some stuff done before bed time!.

See you tomorrow!..

Good morning Diamonds..

Kori, good to see you. Know this is a busy time for you. You are just doing so great. Be thankful you're doing this in your 30s and not waiting to 50s when it's so much harder!!.

Joy, so insightful! I agree with you on everything you wrote! I'm glad you think I'm an inspiration for you..

You have been an encouragement for me as well!.

AFM - TGIF!!!!!! It's been a long week after being on vacation for 2. Will I ever catch up? DD and family will be gone on vacation next week so we'll have their Chihuahua all week. I actually enjoy it. She is so sweet. Of course my cat Cleo isn't too thrilled about it, but usually after a few days they are running around playing together. The cat is three times as big as the dog!!.

Y'all have a good one and take care,..

Stopping by while I have the net available to me & it's quiet. I'm in S. Ca visiting my sibs and playing with my niece & nephew. Tomorrow we head to Newport beach and I am really looking forward to some serious lounge chair time by the pool with my book.

I'm on program and plan to stay OP through out (with the exception of our traditional martini toast together). My carry on caused all the bells & whistles to go off going through security. All the powder in the medfast foods was the culpret... I'm not trusting my Medifast to the whims of the baggage handlers- my every piece of clothing that fits, yes, but my Medifast no. So they looked at each & every package to insure it was sealed and I wasn't transporting bomb makings. Luckily, I had plenty of time and just laughed..

Sandy - What a great first week weight loss - Rock on girl!!!.

Janie - Hang in there girlfriend! Have you been tracking your food & activity to make sure you are getting enough calories & carbs in? I still get hungry when TOM is lurking, it helps me during those times to stick to the leanest proteins (= increased volume) and higher fiber greens (IE leafy greens = higher fiber which keeps the belly full longer) and to split my L&G in half. (And I do use every condiment, fat, & snack allowed during that time) If your thyroid levels fell during the first couple of weeks when you were eating soy in the morning, it may take another week to be back to stable, steady blood levels... which should help on the energy front. Sorry you've had such a rough start!.

Sandy - Isn't wonderful not to feel like food is your master? A new freedom I am truly grateful for. I don't like plain vanilla pudding (but don't like regular vanilla pudding either). However, it works great for making other things or flavoring with extracts or syrups. I used a couple of drops of lime and cheesecake candy flavoring last week to make something that tasted like key lime pie filling. I also use it to make a really thick shake and add root beer candy flavoring drops to make something similar to an A&W root beer freeze..

Joyce - Another 1 1/2 pounds you don't have to lug around anymore!!! Thank you for doing our role call not once, but twice this month. I have this funny picture circling around my brain of your cat chasing the Chiquia, made me giggle. I hope you get some rest this week! I can't tell you how often I look at you & Kori's tickers and pictures to pull me through when I am discouraged!.

Kori - You are going strong, even in the midst of the craziness of preparing for a new school year to start. Enjoy these last few days of summer and take some time to enjoy yourself and recharge before your first day back to school!.

Joy - I am in exactly the same place on my journey as you are, cracks me up that we both started Women, Food, & God the same week. Coincidence? I think not. And am grateful that the universe has provided me with such wonderful companions to share the journey with. My mantra these days; "Is this a kind and loving choice?" A reminder that I get to choose, be it consciously or unconsciously - that I alone am responsible for my suffering. I find myself asking this when I'm preparing to have a difficult conversation with a staff or family member, when my old negative self-talk tapes start to play, and when I'm am considering making a choice that may not serve me. I want to be a kind & loving person in the world.

Remembering that I get to choose and being honest with myself about my choices is really helping me to let go of the cycle of guilt, which has led to binging in the past. Still hard to just sit through the feellings.....

Daisy - I ventured into a buffet planning to nibble on Medifast pretzels while everyone else did the buffet. I checked out the salad bar and they had great choices for my L&G. I ended up having a great salad with shrimp & roast chicken strips for my lean. Yummy!.

Mary - You can do this! Stick with it and make choices that affirm your health and well being! Hope you are enjoying this time with your grandkids and am very happy you get a vacation after they go!.

Hello to everyone I may have missed!.

Wishing you all a wonderful, OP, healthy, happy day!.

Sharon, Thanks for the encouragement. I don't have TOM anymore, but I do take hormone replacement, which soy also may have interfered with. I just feel wasted. I think I will start splitting the L&G and see if that helps this weekend. I always feel so much better after the L&G meal. It's also very hot here (Texas) and the air is bad.

I mean they are saying the heat index is 110!! That's just crazy! It's been this way for a week. (Seems like a year!haha).

I weigh in Monday, and we'll see how that plays out. I'm holding on to the thought that the Medifast energy is around the corner!.

Have a great weekend everyone!!.

What's Shakin everyone??.

Okay, so I have learned that I really don't like the Cappuccino served hot! I thought that last weekend when I did it and added it to my coffee that it made it sort of curdle, but today, still the same with only water.... My next experiment will be to try it like a frozen shake!.

Not sure about where I heard this tip, but it ROCKS!!! I got one of those clear pocket shoe holder for a door and it is perfect for all of my Medifast foods! I felt like a kid setting it up like it was my own little store - hee hee. I ripped the box tops off and put them in the from so that I didn't have to try and read the little typing on each package..

Anyway, things here are good. I had my first "restaurant meal" out last night. We ate at Moe's and I basically had a chicken salad - no deep fried flour tortilla shell of course. It was good and it made me feel better about being able to go out once in a while and handle it. My normal behavior is to be a total glutton (bread/app/salad/dinner with fries) because I'm getting to go out and eat, so this was quite a switch!.

Hope you are all hanging tough!.

Good Sunday afternoon Diamonds,.

Sharon- I appreciate the encouragement. Let me know what you think of the book. I've heard several people talk about it and I'm about to finish my first beach read. I'm OP at the beach and I have to say that my family and friends have been like yours. They don't care where we eat, as long as we spend the time together. I know you fought the mental battle of the restaurants a few weeks ago and it was that story that made me speak up about where we would eat..

Joy- Thanks for sharing your thoughts and encouragement. I forget sometimes that if I don't change me, the weight loss will only be temporary. I need to treat my self better and not wait for permission to take care of myself. How can I can for others if I don't..

Joyce-Congrats and good luck with the pet sitting. Just think how much faster you;ll be chasing them now that you've dropped 100 lbs. Calories burned, I always say when I'm forced to chase toddlers and pets. A good thought to keep for long distance parking too..

Kori- Good for you staying strong while you're so busy. I gotta say, you don't let anything slow down your weight loss. Hang in there!.

Mike-Good to "see" you. Congrats on your continued success. I'm still in awe of your walk route. Keep it up..

AFM- I'm sitting near the windows looking at the ocean in Myrtle Beach SC. I'm surrounded by family and although it's not quiet, it's very nice to listen to the waves and kid noise. I'm OP with a large glass of water beside me and glad I've got this group to turn to if I get and urge to stray. Thanks Diamonds!..

Sandy-I'm also like a kid when I set up my shoe rack and I still get excited every month when I refill it. Let me know if you have fun just "shopping through it everyday. Good luck!.

Amy-Welcome! This is a great program that works. I liek to check out every one's ticker when I need a boost. Successful friends always encourage me. Good Luck..

I know I've missed some shout outs. It helps sometimes to see your name and know that someone out there thought about you with good wishes for program success. I'll try to catch up later. I may need a notebook, we've grown so!.

Have a great OP day Diamonds...

Happy Sunday Diamonds!.

Amy - Welcome to the Diamonds! There's lots of experience and support here, check in often. (And check out Joyce, Kori, & Karen's tickers - talk about inspiring & motivating!) This program is by no stretch of the imagination easy, but if you work it - it works like nothing else ever has!.

Sandy - Your first OP restaurant meal is a real NSV - good job!!! I use an over the door shoe holder too. Makes packing my food up for the day a breeze in the morning. I like the cappuccino much better as a shake with some extra instant coffee & a dash of cinnamon added..

Mary - Aren't you just lovin' that peaceful, relaxing, background sound of the waves coming in? Glad you are getting this time to enjoy your grandkids and relax. Keep on making good choices, you are doing GREAT!.

Mike - Nice to see your face, hoes the prep for the big ride going?.

Sarah - Prayers and hugs.

Check in and let us know how you are doing..

Kori, Joyce, Christine, Karen, & all the new Diamonds (still don't have all the names straight - keep posting so that my old brain catches on) ~ Have a wonderful OP day! Be kind to yourself & everyone who crosses your path, after all, we're all in it together!.

Foggy morning at the beach, sipping coffee on the balcony gazing at the waves roll in. Life is good and I am grateful for this day!.

Time to get out there and walk,.

Hey Diamonds!.

I came across a wonderful recipe on the boards today for "nachos" posted by a fellow Medifast lady named medilina. She made them as nachos by adding a jalepeno slice and a dab of salsa. I made them as "cheese crisps" and had them along with my L&G dinner tonight, which was a salad of romaine lettuce, yellow & red bell peppers and 4.5 oz. of grilled chicken tenderloins. They are super simple and oh so delicious..

Cheese Crisps:.

1.5 oz. Kraft 2% Mexican blend shredded cheese.

Garlic powder.

Line a cookie sheet pan with parchment paper.

(parchment only - foil & spray Pam do not work)..

Put teaspoon sized portions on parchment paper lined cookie sheet (mine made 16).

Put a pinch of garlic powder sprinkled on each one..

Baked them at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes (10 minutes worked for me).

Slide parchment paper with cheese crisps onto the counter or table to cool (this is necessary so they become crispy).

CAUTION: May become addictive - LOL!!!.

Let me know if you try them.

Welcome to Amy and Michelle. We're glad to have you and I'll get you on our roll call by next month..

Mary, didn't know you were at Myrtle Beach. I love it there. We were at Hilton Head a couple weeks ago! I was raised in SC so we visited Myrtle Beach quite a bit. My family is in Augusta, GA nowwhere they do the Masters..

Sandy, I prefer the Cap. as a shake also. It's hard to heat as it "boils" over in microwave in so easily!.

Hi to Kori, Karen, Sarah, Christine, Mike, and everyone else! Hope everyone has an OP week..

I went for the ole Monday weigh in today, and I'm down 1.5 lbs. I probably retained some water from last night's L&G. We were out, and past time to eat (I forgot my PBcrunch bar!)so we went to Razoo's. I though I could get something grilled, but the closest they had was a blackened dish. I got the Tilapia and a salad instead of the rice. The waitress brought the salad, and it had FRIED onion rings on it which I gave to Jeff, along with the french bread.

I did eat the fish, but I'm sure there a lot of sodium in that rub. I've been in ketosis though, so I'm still getting rid of that fat!! I'm going to Zumba and see if that revs things up this week..

The recipe for Turkey meat loaf from Cook Yourself Thin follows. I made it last week and it was great. I had it with cauliflower fauxtatoes. There's also a recipe for roasted root vegetables, but I didn't make that. It's a great show, with a lot of great ideas, and I'll probably make a lot of their stuff when I get to the maintenence part of my program. It's on Lifetime for those of you with cable..

Have a great week everyone!!.

Turkey Meatloaf and Roasted Root Veggies..

Serves 4.

Calories per serving, meatloaves: 227.

Calories per serving, roasted root veggies: 121.

For the meatloaves.

1 slice whole-wheat bread.

1/2 cup skim milk.

1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon olive oil.

1 onion, diced.

5-ounce bag baby spinach leaves.

1 1/4 pounds ground turkey.

2 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan.

1 large egg.

1/2 teaspoon salt.

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper.

1/8 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg.

For the glaze.

3 tablespoons ketchup.

2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.

1 teaspoon hot sauce.

For the roasted root veggies.

3 large carrots, cut on the bias.

2 Yukon Gold potatoes, cut on the bias.

1/4 cup asparagus (about 4 stalks).

1 teaspoon chopped parsley.

1 teaspoon chopped chives.

1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil.

1 teaspoon salt.

1/4 teaspoon pepper.

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Arrange oven racks to accommodate two dishes being cooked simultaneously..

2. Grind the bread in a food processor until fine crumbs form. Transfer to a large bowl, and pour milk over crumbs..

3. Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a large skillet, preferably nonstick, over medium heat. Add onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and golden, about 5 minutes. Add spinach, and stir until just wilted, about 30 seconds. Transfer to bowl with soaked crumbs. Add the turkey, cheese, egg, salt, pepper and nutmeg.

4. Pack 1 cup of the mixture into a 1-cup dry measuring cup. Invert the cup onto a rimmed baking sheet, gently shaking the cup to release the mixture. Gently pat the mound to smooth it's shape. Repeat three times with remaining mixture. Bake mini meatloaves until cooked through and golden, about 40 minutes..

5. While the meatloaves are cooking, make the glaze: In a small bowl combine the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce. Brush over meatloaves..

6. To make the roasted root vegetables: On a baking sheet, toss all the vegetables in the olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Add to the oven along with the meatloaves and roast for 30 to 35 minutes, stirring midway through baking. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh herbs...

I have been off program, by choice, for a few days. I have started again this morning and the exercise of setting up my classroom feels really good. Sweating out all the bad stuff. I did not reach the goal I had set for the summer. I struggled being home all day. Hoping that getting back into a routine will help. Hello to all you diamonds!.

I've been lurking again and thought I would say a quick hello! I am doing much better, getting stronger all the time! For those of you following along, I wanted to share that I have been able to leave my wheelchair behind for about half the day lately and use my walker! I am nearly 7 weeks post-op and hope to be using my walker all the time by the end of the month! I am working on weaning myself off of the major doses of pain meds they have had me on, this seems to me to be one of the first steps in moving towards health in my life..

I am tentatively slating myself for a September 1st return to Medifast, I have a whole July shipment of new things to try and some favorites that I have actually missed! I have thought about an earlier return but want to check in with my regular doc first. That said, I am happy to report that I have not gained while I have been off-plan. I seem to be holding around 235 and have been doing weekly weigh in to stay on track. In a funny side note, I seem to have lost my love of pizza. I've had it once and it just seemed kind of gross to me....amazing..

A warm welcome to all the new folks, this is a great group of people to share this journey with!.

Wishing you all a blessed and OP day!..

Hello All,.

Well, I had my first real off plan days... While I was on vacation my last remaining grandparent passed unexpectedly. I am heart broken that I didn't get to say goodbye and being away from my home zone when I got the news sent me reeling. I must say that food was not nearly as comforting or sedating as it once was and that is a good thing. While I didn't binge, I ate what the "normies" were eating in smaller amounts. My 10 yr old niece baked cookies, because "my daddy & auntie are so sad." Hearing my beautiful niece attempt to soothe me with food snapped me out of my food induced haze and got me back on track.

Today I am paying the price for my off plan eating with a bloated, uncomfortable belly. The starchy stuff just doesn't sit well in my gut anymore. Actually, it probably never did... I was just uncomfortably bloated all the time & thought it was normal! Anyway, I'm back OP 100% and hoping the belly ache goes away soon..

Sarah - It is so good to hear from you! It sounds like you're doing great with your rehab! I am looking forward to having you back on board with us when your doctor OKs it. Sending prayers your way for pain-free mobility. Keep up the excellent work girlfriend!.

Jenn - You are doing wonderfully and will do just fine with the birthday parties. Make a brownie or muffin to bring with you, so that the cake is less tempting. Who ever thought we'd be celebrating being simply overweight.

Your obese days are almost behind you!!!!.

Christine - Hope your class room is coming along. I know staying OP is easier for me when I'm in the groove of my routine. Lets both rock this program this week, we deserve it!.

Steph - Can't wait to celebrate 50 pounds with you!!!!.

Sandy - 12 pounds you don't ever have to carry again! Feels good, doesn't it? You are going to LOVE the cauliflower pizza! I like it better than the "real" thing these days.

Mike - I am so impressed with your biking! (And your weight loss is pretty impressive too, we're gonna be celebrating 50 pounds for you in the not too distant future!).

Joyce - How's the doggy sitting going?.

Kori - Are you back to school yet? Hope all is well!.

Take good care diamonds,.

Hello Diamonds....

Sharon, I'm so sorry about your loss. I think that even people without food issues would probably cope with food or in other not so productive ways after enduring such a loss. Don't be hard on yourself.....you sound like you have already picked yourself back up and that's a victory..

Thanks for saying that about the 12 lbs....I never looked at it like that before but I'm going to start!.

Hi Sarah, nice to meet you!.

Stay strong Jenn!.

Hi Christine....great job getting back on plan! Good luck getting things together..

Steph, 2lbs to go! you can do it!.

Good morning Diamonds! I hope you have a great Thursday!.

Oh Sharon, I am so sorry to hear about your grandparent. My heart goes out to you. I must say, though, that eventhough you went OP, you really have learned something if you were able to realize what was going on...medicating with food. You snapped out of it and are back OP. You can do it!.

Geez Mike, your bike riding is impressive! I like to ride my bike, but the hills in PA are killer and I much rather ride when I'm in Delaware at my parents house...nice and flat!.

Sandy...congrats making it through your 2nd week and losing another 2.75 lbs! You're already down over 12! Great job!.

Wow Steph...already so close to 50 lbs down?! I'd love to see some progress pics (or maybe just a pic of you). I love pictures and it really motivates me to see progress pictures of everyone! Keep up the good work!.

Sarah...I'm glad to hear your doing better and being vigilant about your foods! That's great that you've been able to maintain your weight while being in a wheelchair...amazing. You must be doing something right, that's for sure! You'll be back on Medifast in no time..

I have lost 1.5 lbs this week for a total of 66.5 in 17 weeks. Just under 4 lb average per week. Not too shabby. I've been walking more, so I'm hoping for good things this coming week. Have a good one all!..

Hi everybody. Good to see you, Sarah. Glad you're improving..

Congratulations to everyone on the losses this week..

Sharon, I'm so sorry about your grandparent. I understand the not being able to say goodbye. Seems like that makes it even harder. Sending prayers your way. The dog sitting is going well!.

AFM this is short because I'm a little down right now. Still OP just have some things to work out and it's getting to me. I'll bounce back though..

Y'all have a good one...

Happy Friday the 13th Diamonds! I'm down the beach for 2 days to pick up my boys from their grandparents house and then back home. Of course, I have brought my personal blender and Medifast foods. My Mom's friend told me I'm looking great, but I think that's only b/c my Mom told her that I'm on a diet. Now, why would she tell people, when I told her I wasn't telling others? I'll tell people if and when I want to, know what I mean?!..

School started Wed and I am totally exhausted! Made it to the gym last night but my poor trainer was nice to me since she could see I was so tired. Worked back and arms so I can still function a bit.

Hi to all the newbies! Will try and catch up more..

Sarah - So glad you are doing better! I had been thinking about you!.

Mike - Great bike riding! I need to do more of that..

To the rest of the Diamonds - I am going to try and get more shout outs in later..

Mad love to all of you! Drink your water, stay OP, and make good Medifast choices!..

Hi, Name is Cheryl and I just started the Medifast program on 8/10/10. Last time I was weighed was a month ago at 368 lbs. That was at my cardiologist's office. My primary care doctor's scale does not go over 350, and my home scale won't go over 320. It will be a while before I am able to weigh myself again. I plan to do the diet as directed, and hope that that when next I see my cardiologist in October, that by some miracle, I will see a substantial weight loss. I would love to be a member of this group...

So sorry to hear of your loss. What a great opportunity for you to show and share with your niece another way to sit with grief and comfort those we love. (I can relate to the people offering food to fix and comfort.).

I hope that your belly has adjusted and you are finding yourself more comfortable and back on track again! You have come so far and are an inspiration!..

Hi Everyone,.

Feels like a long time and it's great to see everyone'sd doing so well and staying strong. Welcome to all the newbies..

Sharon my thoughts & prayers are with you. Hang in there..

Sarah, glad to see you're getting stronger every day and great job maintaining despite your struggles..

I've had some crazy work schedules and haven't done so well at staying totally OP, but somehow have continued to lose and I will take any loss. Mostly trying to learn about my triggers and managing deviations. Not condoning them just dealing..

Hang in there Joyce, it will all work out..

Just curious what happened to the LeaLonnie Blog? I even searched for it and didn't find..

Will try to get back more often, but wishing you all a successful week.

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers this week! They helped more than I can express!.

I'm solidly back on program and feel so much better physically. Working to be aware of how I'm feeling emotionally and deal with sadness, anxiety, & boredom in healthier ways. It's amazing what a walk can do for a girls state of mind! Who knew? Also got a blank notebook and am writing out my angst before bed... hoping this will help get my sleep back on track..

Cheryl - Welcome to the Diamonds! You are going to love the results you see and feel once you are in ketosis. If it's at all possible, I'd really encourage you to find a spot to weigh after your first full week on program. The results will keep you motivated until you can get to a scale again. Ideally it would be on the scale you originally weighed in & got your start weight on - since they all differ just a little. You can do this and you deserve a healthy life!.

Joyce - I'm sorry that you are struggling. Hang in there girl, I'm pulling for you!.

Daisy - I'm guessing your mom's friend commented on your weight loss, because 66.5 pounds is a very visible loss.

For me, it helps to stop and really take those comments in. because when I look in the mirror, I don't really see anything different - in spite of moving from a 5X to a 1 or 2X size wise. Heck, pretty soon the supermarket checker and postman are going to be complementing your weight loss! However, I do understand wanting to tell people on your own terms and it drives me batty that the first question my mom asks (before hello) is "How much have you lost now?". Mind you, I talk to her EVERY day and everyday my answer is "I weigh in once a week, so I couldn't tell you." Gotta love um!.

Mike - Have a great time at your reunion!.

Joy - I had the cheese crisps with an heirloom tomato & fresh basil salad last night for dinner. In staying with my Italian theme I traded out a little of the Mexican blend cheese for fresh parm cheese & added a sprinkle of dried basil with the garlic. I used the crisps to scoop up the tomatoes, it was so yummy!!! I will definitely use this recipe again! Started Women, Food, & God for the second time. Reading it r-e-a-l-l-y slowly this time and journaling as I go. trying to take it in and make loving choices for myself..

Kori - Wishing you a great week with your new class! You are such a good example for me exercise wise. Getting to the gym during your first chaotic days back to school is miraculous in my opinion!.

Peg - So good to see you here when I opened the thread! This is a challenging journey we're on and so much of it is learning how to navigate the roadblocks that come our way. It sounds like you are doing that and every step forward, every ounce lost, counts. Way to go! To find Lealonnie's blog, go to the 12 steps & medifast discussion group. She posts almost every day. Clicking on her post will help get you to her blog. Don't know why it got so hard to find???.

Christine - I think this is back to school week for you? Hope it goes well!.

Sarah - I am so loving seeing you back here!!! Keep on loving yourself back to health! You'll be ditching that wheelchair in no time.

Hope everyone else is doing well! Here's to a healthy week to come for all of us!.

Went to weigh in today and lost 2.5lb.!!!!! Yay! AND... They measured me today and I have lost a total of 31.5" I could tell my pants were looser, and everyone says they can see a difference in my face. I lost an inch on my neck! I didn't even realize my neck was fat!LOL!.

I'm very excited because I had my daughter, son-in-law, and my grandbaby here this weekend. We celebrated my mom-in-law's, and son-in-law's birthdays. I bought a cheesecake, and to make sure we had enough, I bought a dozen cupcakes. I didn't go off plan and eat anything. I didn't seem to be bothered too much by the sweets being there either. My reward was my weight loss today!..

I made the cauliflower pizza last night and it was great!.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week. You guys are such an inspiration to me..

Kimberly - Welcome! You've chosen a plan that really works if you work it and a great group of people to share the journey with! Check in often to share your success and ask lots of questions if you need help, ideas, or clarifications..

Mary - How was vacation? Hope you had a fabulous time!.

Janie - 31 inches???? Holy smokes, your wastin' away to nothing girl! You're rocking this program - take your success in & celebrate it!.

AFM - I weighed in for the first time since vacation, expecting a gain and got.

Instead!!!! I haven't been in the hundreds in almost 30 years and truthfully didn't think it was a realistic goal even 3 months ago. It feels really good to break through that emotional barrier and prove myself wrong. For the first time, I know in my heart that I will make it to goal. Had a quick check in with my doctor today to get my 30 pound lab slip... and insisted I be weighed just so I could confirm that my work scale was accurate :P.

With each small step forward & with every loving choice we make, we are coming home to ourselves. One white envelope at a time we are choosing health and well being, so happy to be on this journey with all of you!.

Finally made it to 40 pounds lost!! I really wasn't too motivated this summer. At least I didn't gain. Teacher inservice this week and students next week!.

I really think the structure of being back at school will make sticking to the program easier. Just need to adjust to new eating schedule..

Sorry I have not been participating here lately. Been frustrated with myself on not being 100%. Hopefully, now that I have hit another milestone I will be re-energized and motivated!!!.

Have a great day! Congratulations on all your successes!!!..

Christine, I bet it will be better now that you're back in a routine. You can do it!.

Kori, you are just doing fantastic. I sure wish I had found Medifast when I was your age! Course it probably hadn't been developed then..

Hope everyone else is doing well and staying OP! Thanks for the PMs that I have received. It really helps to know that others care!.

AFM I'm working thru my issues. They are not weight-related and I WILL work it out. Enough about that!! Weighed on Sunday since it was my 13-month (yes, over a year now) anniversary. So today which is my regular weigh day I was down another pound from Sunday. That's great for me!..

Good morning (almost afternoon) Diamonds!.

Kimberly : Welcome to medifast and the Diamonds! This is a great bunch of folks, so supportive, it helps to know ther're all here to help..

Janie : Congrats on the weight loss and the strength to resist the sweets! (Sugar is my biggest temptation)!.

Sharon : Wonderful achievement!!! Seeing that 1 on the scale must feel so good!.

Joyce : Hang in there. You're a super inspiration to me. Thanks for being here on the boards..

Kori : I wanna be like you when I grow up!!!.

AFM : I had a piece a cake last week, it didn't really mess up my loss but the cake wasn't worth it. (It's a kind I don't really like, but I thought I'd give it a try). I have another birthday party to go to tonight and I'm planning on having a small piece of cake there, but we'll see. It's a group of 40 at a sit down dinner (that will be my L&G), so having a meal befor the cake might make it easier to skip the dessert. I'm ok about sometimes eating off plan, I've been using these opportunities to test myself. Once I am out of the weight loss phase I'll be faced with "foodie" situations all the time.

So far I've not had any problems about eating off plan getting right back on track. It gives me hope for long term maintenance..

Have a great rest of the week everyone!.

Good Afternoon Diamonds!.

Welcome to all the Newbies! It's been too long since I've been here to check on everyone. My son starts high school next Monday and it's just been crazy busy around my house. My husband returned from the Keys last Saturday and headed back to work Monday, so things are getting back in their groove..

Of you for making it into.

See what happens when we treat ourselves right?! I didn't get to tell you before, but know you were in my thoughts and prayers when you lost your grandparent. You are truly a blessing to have on this journey of ours. As for reading Women Food and God again, can you believe how much more you're learning the 2nd time around? I'm almost finished with my 3rd reading and know that this time the weight will stay off!!! Oh yeah, glad you like the cheese crisp recipe. It's nice to know I can whip up a batch any time I'm wanting something different..

Kori - Where did the Summer go?! Can't believe you're already back teaching. I hope you have a fabulous year with all your new students. You definitely keep me motivated on this Medifast journey. I haven't exercised, but have decided when my son starts school this coming Monday, I will commit myself to it. I may need to lean on you for support because exercising is SOOOOO boring to me, although I always feel so much better..

Joyce - Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure you will work through whatever "stuff" you're currently dealing with. You are such an inspiration to so many, including myself. Just know that I'm here if you need an ear..

Christine - Congrats on your 40 lbs. gone forever! Glad to see you're on track and ready for another fun filled school year..

Mary - Hope your vacation was a BLAST! Look forward to hearing from you!!!.

AFM - I'm hoping next week's weigh-in will put me on the Onederland Express! I promise to post before and current pics, so brace yourselves - LOL! This past Saturday, we threw my mom a 75th Birthday party at my cousin's house. It was a blast. For the past 4 years, my mom, aunts and cousins have been going out to dinner once a month for what we call GNO (Girls Night Out). We start at a restaurant and end the evening at Starbucks. I feel truly blessed to share these wonderful times with the ladies in my family. Since my mother's had medical issues over the past few months, we hadn't been out since May.

We had a great menu with grilled chicken tenderloins, shrimp cocktail, salad, veggie tray, fruit tray, cheese tray, chips and dip. I also made the new "Cheese Crisps" recipe I found here on the boards and they LOVED them. I made both with the 2% Mexican cheese blend, but one I added granulated garlic and the other cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper ones were the biggest hit. It just goes to show that you can throw a party with healthy, yet very tasty food!.

Jenn - Just be careful with the "testing" of yourself. I think that the best part about Medifast is how structured it is during the 5/1 phase. The "testing" and adding things back into our diet is during Transition and then on into maintenance. Adding extra things in or having BLT's during 5/1 throws your body out of ketosis and may stall your weight loss. Just some thoughts to consider but we all must work the plan individually.

Keep up the great work Jenn!..

AFM - Busy day at work again...I know big surprise, right??.
