First question I got is Can you eat ribs or hot dog on Medifast Diet? Many thanks for any comment. My other question... Here it is Diamonds. Let me know of any additions or corrections. Everyone have a great OP Month!!. |
Yup, however you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm this as I am unsure. Better yet, why don't you email the Medifast guys because they can answer your Medifast question better...

Happy July, Diamonds. Hard to believe that 2010 is already halfway gone...

I've been experimenting again - LOL! Here's my latest creation:.
Pumpkin Bread. 1 pk Medifast French vanilla shake. 1/4 tsp baking powder (1/2 condiment). 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice (1/2 condiment). 1 Tbsp egg beaters (deduct from L&G). 1 Tbsp SF vanilla syrup - I use Starbuck's (1/2 condiment). 1 Tbsp water. Pam cooking spray (1/2 condiment). Lightly spray a small plastic container with Pam. In the same container, combine Medifast shake, baking powder and pumpkin pie spice. Add all 3 Tbsp's of liquid and gently stir until you get a batter consistency. Let it sit for 5 minutes (this is KEY). Microwave for 1 - 1 minute 20 seconds, depending on the wattage of your microwave. I cook for 1 minute in my 1100 watt microwave.. Not only does this smell absolutely delicious, it tastes heavenly. Ok, so you have to give up 2 condiments, but trust me it's worth it for a special treat every now and then!. Joy. Started: 4/5/10. WEEKS (1 - 4): -7, -4, -3, -6 (-20 lbs. & -11"). WEEKS (5 - 8): -2, -3, -2, -3 (-10 lbs. & 8"). WEEKS (9 - 12): -3, -3, -2. Wasn't here for week 12 weigh-in, so I will weigh tomorrow!.. |

Good Saturday Morning Diamonds!.
Joyce- You are always on time with the new thread. Sorry about the rain. I followed Alex on TV and was afraid you'd end up with more wind damage. I'm glad you're just wet! You weight is falling like a rock! Good for you!. Mike- I may have missed other posts, but it's good to hear from you. The last few days weather has been pretty spectacular, huh? I bet your walking route at the Mall has been packed! Nice recovery from vacation weight gain. I'm hoping tom have the same thing myself. Keep it up!. Joy- I'm glad you posted this, since I ended up with some stuff from my "free week" that I would not ordinarily have ordered. Can you post your best oatmeal muffin recipe? I gotta do something with this peach oatmeal and I can't eat it as is unless there is no other choice.. I didn't get back to the June thread so I'm not up to speed on everybody. But Sarah, Jenn, Sharon, Kori, Peg and KarenI'm thinking of you all. Hope I didn't miss anybody.. I am wishing us all, same happy, OP holidays with L&G's from the grill and friends and family to share it with. No deprivation only success!. Have a great OP day!.. |
Tanya-Welcome! I'm right there witcha girl! We can do it! What 140 lbs to us?..
Good morning, everyone!.
I'm relatively new to Medifast and pretty much a lurker and I love this thread! I learn so much from all of you and I have a question. I've been doing well with the program since June 1st and as of this morning have lost 22.8.. Yeah for me! I have followed it to the letter and the past couple of weeks have had a slow and steady loss of a couple pounds a week.. My children and grandchildren came in town last Monday and we've been on the move every since. I've been to the shopping malls, zoo and walking about 5 - 6 hours every day. I NEVER move that much. Going to the mailbox is about as much as I do on a daily basis (even though I plan to do more later down the road). My question is that my weight loss seems to has stopped rather than gotten faster. I know it's only been 5 days but I thought it might begin to show up on the scale.. Am I expecting too much? Has my body gone into starvation mode? Should I add more protein while I'm on this temporary stepped up activity stage? It looked like a great opportunity to loose at a faster rate for a short period and I hate to have it slip by me.. Thanks for any help you can give me. Oma.. |

Question: A while back I read somewhere that going by ounces is better than cups for lettuce greens, but the food log does not allow for ounces to record, only fluid ounces and I know they are different. Does anyone know how many ounces of lettuce we can count as one cup?..
Hi Christine,.
There is a link on the actual Medifast site with a chart of veggies in grams. I keep it printed in my kitchen, because for the leafy greens the portions are much larger than by the cup. I can't figure out how to attach a document here or I would pass it on to you. If someone can explain how to attach, I will attach the chart. I do know that when I'm having one of the "fluffier" lettuces - like butter, the serving is closer to 2 cups. Makes me happy on hungry days and makes it really easy to split L&G's. Heavier lettuces - like romaine are not as dramatic, but you still get more than a cup.. Sharon.. |
Hello Oma,.
Are you tracking what you eat on my medifast? If so, look at your total calorie & carb intake. When I drop into the 800 - 900 calorie range (vs 900 - 1000 range) and drop below 80 carbs I stop losing and have been known to GAIN. When you are outside of your routine and on the go, it's easy to forget a Medifast meal here & there, because you aren't hungry on this program. So do make sure you aren't dipping too low.. You are currently at the weight I started Medifast and when I spoke to a Medifast RD, her initial suggestion was to start with the 4-2 plan (which is explained on their site) & transition to 5-1 when I'd lost around 25 pounds. I elected not to do that, but did make sure I hit the range mentioned above and on "starving days" or extra active days I added a high protein snack. (Like a string cheese, 1T nut butter added to my brownie mix or on celery, 2oz turkey rolled up in lettuce, etc.) Always measured & added to my tracker to keep me honest. I have noticed - 51 pounds down the road - that I continue to lose faster at the higher end of the calorie range & mid level of carb range.. Hope this helps!. Sharon.. |
Happy Fourth of July Diamonds!.
Joyce - I'm so glad that Alex didn't hit you! Are things starting to dry up yet?. Joy - I'm finally going to break down & buy some vanilla shakes so that I can try this recipe - I love pumpkin bread and your recipe sounds like a great breakfast treat. Thanks!. Has any one heard from Sarah? Hoping all is well for her.. Mike, Kori, Mary, Karen, Annisa,Geri, Jenn, Peg, Tanya, & Shell (And anyone else I may have missed!) - Hope you are enjoying a fabulous OP week end!. AFM: My DH is gone this week and I am enjoying a completely "me" centered long weekend! Sleeping late, ignoring my chores (other than next weeks meal prep) and doing what ever I want to at any given moment. I have been super hungry the last couple of weeks, which is odd, since (unless PMS) that hasn't been the case since I went into ketosis 17 wks ago. I'm wondering if my battered, barely creeping metabolism is starting to perk up? I think my activity level has increased as well. I am moving faster & more frequently, because I can do so without pain, wheezing, and the humiliation of constantly having to ask those I'm walking with to please slow down. So I am watching my carbs diligently and have added in a high protein snack to keep me relatively satiated and on track. Going to a BBQ tonight and bringing a giant salad to share, then off to see our local (one day early) fireworks display.. For those of you with trader Joe's in your area - I have discovered the ultimate lean for days you want to split your lean or need a really easy, portable meal. They have a pre-made egg white salad in the refrigerated section. Per nutrition support. 2 1/2 entire containers count as 1 lean. (no extra fat needed) I've been using 1 container with 3 stocks (cut into sticks) of celery & 1 serving cucumbers (cut into spears) to dip into it or lettuce leaves to make a wrap with. They have 2 flavorers "with chives" and "Southwest" - both are excellent & perfect for work or picnicking. The southwest version has a kick to it (which I like). The chive version is like traditional egg salad & is excellent with a little minced green onion added to it.. Play safe, drink your water, and remember that you are worth it!. Sharon.. |
Those of you who have made the cauliflower pizza, does it have to be fresh or can I use the bag of frozen in the freezer?..
I am looking for something to help me get back "on the wagon" and thought I would give the pizza a try..
My husband grilled some tilapia for me. I HATE fish unless it is breaded and fried, but this was quite edible. Question: he used quite a bit of lemon juice and zest to help flavor it. Is lemon juice banned OP??.. |
Thank you, Sharon, that does make sense. I checked my diary and I am almost always between 800-850 calories and always below 80 carbs. I'll try the 4&2 while my kids are here and the exercise is high and see if that doesn't help..
After all of these years dieting, you'd think I'd know everything there is to know but I'm finding with MF, it pays to ask and I want to thank you again for the feed back. Oma... |
Hi Christine,.
I haven't made the pizza with frozen, but almost every recipe I've seen says fresh or frozen. I grate mine in the food processor, and I'm guessing it would be easier to do with the cauliflower still frozen than thawed. The cauliflower pizza is my all time favorite (and I still hate plain cauliflower. )! It's a good sized portion & feels "sinful". My favorite toppings are thin sliced tomatoes, tons of fresh basil (a whole cup = 1 condiment), a sprinkle of garlic, and the rest of my lean in cheese sprinkled on top. Heaven!. Lemon juice is allowed and falls under condiments. I love just about any fish BBQed, amazing how that grill changes the flavor!. Happy 4th of July!.. |
Hey Sharon,.
I caught your response to Chunkychic. You nailed it girl.I added my thought and hope she does well. Maybe we'll see her here at some point.. Oma-I also slow way down if I did to far below 1000 calories. I guess my bod is not ready for that yet. If I stay above 900 and 80-100 cards I don't show ketones but I feel the best and lose the best. I also find that when I increase my exercise suddenly it sort of stuns my system and I don't realize that weight loss for several days. So there is hope yet. I also have learned not to let a slow week or a for that matter a mall gain derail me. It's early Sunday morning. The sun is shining here, and I have a great plan for chicken on the grill. I hope all of you have a spectacular day OP day.. PS-I weigh in on Sundays. I dropped 3 of the 4 I gained while off program. I'm really glad to be back!. Happy 4th!.. |
Mary.
Good for you losing what happened off program. I too am back to where I had reached before straying. Now to stay OP.. I really need to lose another 20 pounds pdq. I want to qualify for life Insurance through my school district. I won't make it by the open enrollment period but am hoping that with a letter from my doctor they will qualify me... |
Happy 4th of July Diamonds!.
I have been a bit of a slacker checking in here the past week or so. Been very busy. I spent all day yesterday shopping, preparing, and cooking all the food for the family BBQ. It was a lot of fun. It makes it easier for me if I can cook the food and smell it, even if I can't eat it. I BBQ'd their ribs and chicken, made their pasta salad and brownies. Mary - WTG on losing 3 lbs!. Thistime - Welcome back to the wagon. Hope it goes better this time. I use fresh cualiflower but I am sure frozen would work as well.. Sharon - You are doing awesome!. Joyce - Thanks again for getting us started.. Mike - Enjoy your 4th!. Oma - I second the possibliity of 4&2 or adding the extra protein. Find what works for you and make it work!. AFM - Need to get going again. Have some more stuff planned for today... |
Sharon: Thank you for the Trader Joe egg white salad tip. Sound delish and right up my alley!.
Sarah.. |

Happy 4th of July Diamonds!.
It's been a beautiful day and I am looking forward to fireworks over the bay tonight. Yesterdays BBQ went well. I always bring a big green salad with interesting things in it, so I know I'll have what I need. Someone brought roasted garlicky green beans, which I will definitely attempt to replicate, as they were very tasty. I kept my glass filled with fizzy water, so no one could pour wine into it and helped serve dessert rather than eat it. Traditionally we sip hot cocoa while watching the fire works and I was very content with my thermos of Medifast cocoa. Today I took my mom out to brunch after church (had 1/2 my L&G) & than went shopping with my daughter. My goal was to find some pants for work. Alas, while I could pull a size 20-22 over my butt & hips, the waist band is a good 8 inches or so too big. I'm down to 1 acceptable pair of work pants. (And doing laundry way too often) So I'm gonna bite the bullet & order another pair of expensive Lane Bryant blue right-fit pants online that will fit for a month (or 6 wks if I'm lucky). I wish (for now) that the weight loss from my belly up would stop and my butt, hips, & thighs would catch up! (My figure gives new meaning to the word pear. ) Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for this weight loss, and grateful that there is actually 1 cut of pants made for my fruity bod. I'm just cheap, & it irks me to spend $60 on something I won't be able to wear long.. Kori - It sounds like you were one busy Diamond yesterday! I am watching your tracker... Onderland is almost yours!!!! You are doing so well and inspire us all - thanks!. Mary - Yoo-hoo, vacation weight is gone and you are firmly back on track! Give yourself a pat on the back and appreciate how good it feels to be OP. Enjoy your chicken!. Christine - With the insurance, you have a tangible goal to focus on, which will help you to keep you on track. Very cool that the weight that returned during your slide is gone! - You shed it pretty darned quickly, which is a clear indicator that you can be successful with this program! I'm pulling for you my friend!!!. I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful day ~ Celebrate our nations independence by committing to growing your personal freedom by staying 100% OP. Freedom from; hypertension, diabetes, painful joints and all the other health repercussions of obesity, from having to mentally measure the space before you sit (be it an airplane seat, a chair, a booth, seatbelt, or a ride at the carnival) to guesstimate if you can fit without damaging yourself or it, and most important - freedom from regret and self-loathing. One step at a time, we'll get there!. Sharon.. |
Hi Diamonds,.
Checking in again. Kori - You're doing so totally AWESOME!!!! As always, you are an inspiration.. Sharon - you and I have a similar body type. As dh puts it, I'm losing from the top down and bottom up, so I'm taking on a rather interesting shape, too. Trying to accept that, and focus on other stuff and wait/hope for the best.. I found out last week that my scale truly is of the devil. It used to be accurate, but is no more. I'm at my lowest ever and am focusing on that. One. Day. At. Time.. A friend who is a real estate agent is coming over tomorrow to look at our house and give us some advice. Hoping/praying that we can sell it for a decent price.. Have a great OP day Diamonds!!.. |
Happy Tuesday morning Diamonds!.
Mary : Great job getting back on plan. It is so easy to slip off, and then stay off plan, I admire you for getting right back on.. Sharon : Boo!Hoo! I miss Trader Joe's so much. I did not appreciate it enough when I lived in California. There is nothing like it here in Arkansas. (At least that I've found).. Karen : Good luck with the friend/real estate agent. I hope she gives you a good $ recommendation.. Kori : You are awesome! (Sorry about the overused word, but it's totally appropriate!). AFM : I had a good weekend. I bought 3 pretty dresses that are my current size or 1 size smaller then I am right now. I used to wear dresses all the time, but I haven't been wearing them for the last 7 years because I just felt like a blob, nothing I would wear felt pretty. Last week was TOM plus I ate out one night last week, so my weight loss for last week was OK, but next weeks weigh-in should be good. My next reward was going to be a haircut (which I need desparately), but I am thinking of moving that reward to my next goal which will be "out of obesity and only overweight!" I can't believe I am only 22 lbs from that. I am getting and feeling healthier every day. Have a great week everyone!. Jenn.. |
Good Morning Diamonds...after a long absence, I have returned....Today is day one for me....just wanted to post and be accountable. Hi to all old friends and welcome to all new ones...
Hi Diamonds, I'm back! Boy, what a busy weekend. Our party went well, beautiful day after our over 15 inches of rain!! We had folks from about 10 a.m. until almost midnight so it was a very long day!! But very fun. We rented a huge water slide for the kiddos and they had a blast. DS's in-laws, who I got started on Medifast were there and the 3 of us together have lost about 250 lb. Then add my DH, DS, and DIL who we inspired to lose and we've lost over 500 lb.! Pretty cool, huh?.
Karen, you are doing awesome, girl!! Hope you get good news from the realtor. How's the adoption going?. Mary, Sharon, Kori, Chris, Joy, Sarah, Mike, y'all keep it up!. Man, I am just so awful at these shout-outs! I read everything and think how awesome everyone is and then I start to write and I'm just blank. I hope each of you know how much you truly mean to me and how I look forward to hearing about your lives. I'm just not that great at writing, now talking is another thing!! I could sure talk to you!!. Have a great day everyone!!!.. |
Hello all, I have been missing in action!!! Lots going on in the summertime for all. I am still having a hard time staying focused, and the scales are starting to show. I have gained about 5 lbs. SO...............time to get back on the horse, and stick with it again. Need to reread my own commitment.... The wedding is about 3 months away, and not only that, I need to do this for me.
Not only looking better, but I actually do feel better. So today, July 6th. (once again) I am recommitting myself. I have another order coming, and my hubby is not going to pay if I don't stay on track. (What a better way to be refocused.).. Hope everyone is doing well, and having a great summer so far.. Blessing to all!!!!!. Annisa.. |
Hello my dear Diamond friends,.
Welcome New Diamonds - so glad you've joined this awesome group! We are all very supportive of one another. If you fall off the wagon, we'll pick you up ... if you jump, we may need to kick your butt. Anissa - I've missed you and so glad you've decided to re-commit - GO GIRL!!!. Joyce - How proud you all must be! Don't worry about the individual shout-outs, we know you love us, just like we love you. Keep up the great work and thanks for keeping our thread updated each month.. Kori - You truly inspire me! When I read all that you do in a day, it wears me out - LOL! Oh to be young again. I hope Summer school is going well for you.. Mary - Proud you lost those unwanted pounds. As for the recipe you asked about, I have never made the Medifast muffins, but I think Sharon has the recipe. My new favorite is the pumpkin bread. I think tomorrow I will make another batch of the cauliflower pizzas. I need to get back to experimenting. Another of my new favorites is the English toffee fudge - yum!. Christine - I'm glad you're staying positive and as for the insurance issue, I'm certain it won't be an obstacle for you.. Sharon - Every time I eat my new "pumpkin bread", I wonder ... did Sharon order those vanilla shakes yet?! I had an awesome dinner tonight. I sauteed a thin slice of Vidalia. Onion, red, orange and yellow pepper slices and two small sliced summer squash. Once they were tender and tasty, I added 6 oz. of pulled chicken tenderloins I had left over. OMG - I was in Heaven!!! My hubby and son had lasagna and they were totally grossed out by my dinner, especially since I kept telling them how amazing it was. So glad I didn't have to share!. AFM - I am so happy to be back home and on schedule. Now that my stepdaughter's "vow renewal" is over, I can just focus on having a great "stress-free" summer. My first Medifast goal was to lose "40 lbs." by their 6/27/10 date. As of my Monday weigh-in 6/21, I was down 38 lbs. so I probably had lost another 2 lbs. by that Sunday. For the past 2 weeks, since I couldn't weigh while in Orlando. BTW - That just about killed me, but I just didn't have room to pack my scale - LOL! I only have 10 more lbs. to lose to get to my half way point and I'm really looking forward to that. I need you all to keep me focused. Joy. Started: 4/5/10. WEEKS (1 - 4): -7, -4, -3, -6 (-20 lbs. & -11"). WEEKS (5 - 8): -2, -3, -2, -3 (-10 lbs. & 8"). WEEKS (9 - 12): -3, -3, -2, ??? (-8 lbs. & 6") out of town week 12 & no scale. WEEKS (13-16): -5.. |
Hi Diamonds,.
Just a quick check-in, since today was my weigh day. I'm down a whooping ounce, but considering I lost 4 last week (huge for me), I'm good with it. I hit a milestone today. Saw my doc and all my labs were fab. I'm cutting my metformin dose in half and was told I am. No longer morbidly obese. ! Never thought I'd celebrate being simply obese, but getting rid of that icky "morbid" part feels great! Promise to catch up on posts in the next day or so, lots of babies wanting to be born the last couple of days.. Take good care and drink up! (Your water that is. ). Sharon.. |
Quick check in Diamonds!.
Tomorrow is weigh in day for me. I am a little scared but gave myself at least two weeks to make it under 200. So if it happens tomorrow, great...next week...still great.. Kraftie - So good to see you here. I think about you all the time!. Annisa - Welcome back, glad to see you recommiting. Sharon - WTG on no longer being morbidly obese!!! WOOT!WOOT!. Joyce - Always good to see you here, busy woman. Karen - YAY! Haven't seen you in awhile. Hope you get some good news from the realtor friend.. Joy - I hear ya on not weighing in. It kills me. I am a daily weigher for sure. When I was at BF's house for a week, I weighed in on his scale but didn't trust any number til I got home on my own.. Jenn - YAY! for pretty dresses. I must say shopping has gotten funner but it sure takes longer since I have to try everything on.. AFM - Hit the gym tonight, super tired so going to bed. Have a good Wednesday Diamonds. Drink your water, make good choices, plan, plan, plan!!!!.. |
Good Morning Diamonds,.
I'm running late and only have time for a quick hello. You all inspire me and I just wanted to say have a great OP day. I'll catch up tonight... |
Morning Diamonds..
Joy, you are just doing so great. I thought it was your muffin recipe that I tried last time. If not here it is and it is WONDERFUL. 4 packs of oatmeal ( I used blueberry), 1 pack eggs, 1 pack pudding (I used vanilla), 1 cup water, 1/2 cup WF syrup (I used blueberry). Mix well, pour into 6 muffin tins, bake at 350 for 20 min. I think. Sharon, that must be such a great job working in L & D. We got so close to the nurses when our grandkids were born. So different than when our babies were born!! Much better now.. Kori, thought about you when I got on the scale this morning. Hope you made it to onederland!! But you're right, it will be great whenever.. AFM looks like we're really stretching it outonly .8 lb. this week. Sure want to make it 100 next week as the 15th will be one year for me. That's also the day we're leaving for two weeks with my family in Georgia and no weigh-insyikes!! How will I cope????. Y'all all have a good one!.. |
I went out to mow this morning, riding mower was dead once again. SO I got quite a nice workout with the push mower. It ran out of gas about the time I did, so I will wait til tomorrow to finish. One can rack up calories burned mowing a lawn. That is what I kept telling myself anyway..
Sounds like everyone is quite busy these days. I am dying to try the muffin recipes, but I don't buy the eggs. Does anyone have a tasty recipe that uses egg beaters?. Have a great day!!!.. |
Christine, I'm pretty sure you can sub eggbeaters, 1/4 cup I think and count it as 5 meals...
Just realized I forgot baking powder!!! One tablespoon I think!! Sorry. It's that age thing!!..
Joyce,.
The only syrup I have is cinnamon dulce from starbucks. Is the syrup to add flavor rather than just plain water? This is not thick by any means, is that necessary?. Do you mean 1 teaspoon of baking powder rather than 1 tablespoon?.. |
Christine - My notes in italics.
Muffins w/o Medifast eggs. Make 4 meals ( 1 use large muffin tin). 2 pkts oat meal ( any flavor). 2 packets shakes or pudding ( any flavor). Orange shakes w/combo orange & almond extracts, banana shake/pudding w/ banana extract, chocolate shake/pudding w/ almond & vanilla extract combo, orange shake w/coconut & vanilla combo, vanilla w/almond & a tiny bit of lemon extract... you get the idea. 4 Tablespoons egg beaters or egg whites. 4-5 tsp baking powder. I only use 4 teaspoons, unless I'm using a dairy based shake. 2 -3 tsp Cinnamon. Or pumpkin pie spice. 2-4 pkts splenda. I use 2 pkts, as I don't like things too sweet. Mix dry ingredients with whisk. Add 2 tsp extract & using a spoon add water slowly until mix is like soft frosting. Add to sprayed muffin tins. Bake 325 for 13-15 minutes (mine take 14 minuets). Remove from tin let cool, wrap in paper towel and plastic bag and freeze. Each muffin is a meal. I keep these frozen & reheat in a slightly damp paper towel - so good with coffee or tea. Great when you're on the road or want something that could "pass for normal" when breakfasting with friends.. Good Luck,. Sharon.. |
Hello Diamonds!.
Kori - Hitting the 100's this week or next either are awesome!!! I cn hardly wait to celebrate. Joyce - You are sooo close to 100, wooziers! I don't like the management part of my job, but I love it when the unit is hoppin' and they need my help. Birth is truly miraculous and getting to lift a brand new human being from her mommas body into her arms is pretty darned awesome! After 30 years of working with birthing moms, I still get misty eyed every time.. Joy - Finally putting my order in tonight (if I don't fall asleep first)... ordering chai, vanilla shakes, pudding (C & V), 3 boxes of oatmeal & eggs, and parm puffs. Everything I need for baking & dessert creations and an additional crunchy, salty treat. I put in a giant order last time & still have lots of food. But I am missing my baking supplies. Hoping the new distribution center in Texas gets my order to me in a more timely manner. My last 2 orders have taken more than 2 wks to receive.. Annisa - You deserve to feel good in your body, to enjoy great health, and to live to a ripe old age. Make a plan now, while your resolve is strong, for how you're going to deal with the next tough time - be it a celebration or uncomfortable emotions. Because you deserve it!. Kraftie - Welcome back!. Jenn - Isn't it wonderful to feel pretty again? To be able to look in the mirror and see progress? What a major NSV!!! PS: Treat yourself to the hair cut now, you deserve it!. Karen - How did it go with the real estate agent? I'm hoping the news is good! I'm taking your advice about accepting my body where it is right now and choosing to focus on recognizing the enormous progress I've made these last 4 months. This pear shaped bod of mine has carried me through a lot of living and who am I to complain that I have a small waist??? So I may have to wear suspenders to keep my pants up at work, but I look pretty darned good in a dress. Thanks!. Sarah - If you're lurking, we miss you!!! My prayers are with you.. AFM: Struggling to stay on program and deal with work stress in a constructive way. Every morning I look myself in the eye and commit to stay on program for this one day. I have my OP stash at work, am taking a 15 min break to walk outside mid-afternoon to shake it off, and am allowing myself to feel versus stuff some really anxious, icky emotions as I prepare to deliver hard news to people I care about. The temptation to slip into old behaviors that do not support my health or happiness is present constantly. But I am 50 years old, and it's time to break free from the crazy thinking that got me here in the first place. (You know; thinking food will make me feel better, give me the energy to work 14 hrs, that I can eat just one bite of chocolate/cookie/ whatever) Uncomfortable or painful feelings won't kill me and they will pass. I want to live a long & happy life. Trying to remain focused that I get to choose.... one baby step at a time.. Rest well my friends!. Sharon.. |
Good Morning Diamonds!.
Sharon - All I can say is "Wow"! I can so relate to what you're saying in your "AFM" and it comforts me to know that I'm not alone. It's a choice we make each day to stay OP and positive in our thoughts about ourselves. The conversations that go on inside my head with myself are sometimes just too scary. I'm finding through this process (and reading the wonderful book "Women, Food and God") that I truly have an addiction to food. I have absolutely no problem staying 100% OP because I know exactly what I'm supposed to eat, and eat it. Here's my problem/struggle ... when I get stressed, my first reaction is to get. Relief. By heading for food. When I'm happy, my first reaction is to. Reward. Myself with food. It's a struggle every day to just live in the present and give myself credit for making a positive change in my life. I'm trying to reward myself with any NSV to keep the negative thoughts from my head. At my heaviest I was 325 lbs., so I know how to lose weight. My problem is keeping it off. This time I feel I will be successful because I'm allowing myself to say out loud "I'm stressed and I want to eat something I shouldn't, but I'm choosing not to because my health is more important". He didn't say anything at first, but later told me if I needed to announce these thoughts, he was there to support me in any way. I know eating the Medifast way will get me to my weight loss goal. What I feel is. KEY. On this final weight loss journey of mine, is the support I feel from you, Kori, Joyce, Mary, Christine and all the other Diamonds! You just don't know how much you have all helped, and continue to help me. For that I am truly THANKFUL!!!. Joy. Started: 4/5/10. WEEKS (1 - 4): -7, -4, -3, -6 (-20 lbs. & -11"). WEEKS (5 - 8): -2, -3, -2, -3 (-10 lbs. & 8"). WEEKS (9 - 12): -3, -3, -2, ??? (-8 lbs. & 6") out of town week 12 & no scale. WEEKS (13-16): -5.. |

Hi there! Wow, we're being really deep today (I was going to use a bigger, better word but couldn't spell it!). Sharon and Joy, I'm with you! Y'all are so right on..
Chris, it really is 1 Tablespoon and you bake them for 20 min. I did a batch last night with maple oatmeal and strawberry syrup. They're good but not as good as the peach and blueberry ones. And yes, I think the syrup is probably just extra flavor. I usually put a few Capella drops in for flavor too but just realized I forgot last night!! That may be one reason these aren't quite as good!. Kori, I noticed your ticker. You're stretching it out like I didand like I'm doing trying to get to that 100 lb. mark too! We'll get there though!!!. Hope y'all have a great day. It's another rainy, yucky day here thanks to the two systems in the gulf! We've gotten 16.5 inches of rain in the last week!!!. I love all y'all!!!.. |
Hi Diamonds!.
We're heading out soon, so I'm posting quick. I SO enjoy reading all of the posts here, even if I don't comment on them! You all are doing so wonderfully!. I finally put my 10th bead on my bracelet today- 100 pounds! I remember when I had 3 beads and was so discouraged about how much was left to lose, but slowly, slowly I'm getting there. Staying 100% op would get me there quicker, and that's always my first goal, but I'm finding that there is a bunch of junk in my head that I am getting in order. 30 years of overeating is a. Lot. Of thinking to straighten up. Right now, I'm working on putting on the breaks when I pick and celebrating every success. I jogged for 12 minutes today!. Sharon - I really enjoyed your post about saggy skin. Thank you so much for posting that info. What products are you using?. Joyce & Kori - ((hugs)). Our real estate appointment yesterday only confirmed what we already knew about our house. We'll probably try to sell it ourselves in a month or so, we need to be a little further along with our adoption and we've hit a delay with a piece of paper.. Gotta get, I have a meeting about Operation Christmas Child tonight. I'm bringing my favorite Medifast meal with me - chocolate mint maintenance bar with me. There will be food there. :0).. |
Great posts today Diamonds!.
Joy - We're reading the same book! It became clear to me two years ago that my thinking was a bigger problem than my eating. Like you, I have lost & regained my body weight multiple times... thus my hyper-efficient metabolism :P Anyway, I'm literally muttering things like "I choose to stay OP today", "One step at a time", "I accept reality just as it is & just as it is not", and "I want health & well being more than I want want cookies" through out the day. The only other time I've experienced stress at this level was when my son had cancer, and I pretty much ate my way through it. Gained 40 pounds and the fear & anxiety were still present. I don't want to go there again, and so I mutter to myself. Joyce - Man, you are dealing with alot of weather this summer! Jeez, you must be living in a swamp after 16 inches of rain... hope you get some sun shine soon!. Karen - Man, I didn't realize I was opening such a can of worms when I posted on the saggy skin thing. My goal was to encourage people to take good care of themselves & allow for the possibility that they might actually look OK a few years down the road. Anyway, I got a boar bristle back brush at target for $5 - the handle slides off & it has a strap to slip your hand through. I have very sensitive skin & the brushing actually feels good & hasn't caused any rashes or irritations. Gently brush dry skin to wards your heart from your feet up & arms down (takes me @ 3-4minutes), hop in the shower & get clean, than pat the really wet areas (& dry the creases), finish up with body oil or high quality, natural oil based lotion on moist skin - easpecially the saggy parts. I use Neutragina's sesame body oil, which absorbs completely in about 5minutes. My skin had gotten very dry/itchy and I was having a lot of rashes after starting MF. I've been dry brushing about 2 months - no more rashes, my skin looks & feels better, my cracked heels have healed and my ankles & calves aren't swelling anymore. I swear my arms are tighter - but I could very well be deluded. The down side; with the increased circulation in my limbs - I'm having to shave more often.. Dry brushing comes from the Ayurvedic tradition of medicine in India. The premise is that you increase circulation in the skin & lymphatic system and get rid of the dead skin that clogs pores, thus helping the body to detoxify. They make no claims that it cures cellulite, however, anything that increases circulation & brings more oxygen to the tissues, will improve the health of the tissues - which results in some increased elasticity. And the coworker I mentioned in my post came to work in shorts & a tank top this week - if I look as good as she does when I'm done, I will be more than satisfied. And if my saddle bags are banging at my knees - I'll wear capris and know I look damned good for a 50 year old woman who lost more than 100lbs!. Thank God It's Almost Friday!!!!! Take good care everybody and drink your water!. Sharon.. |
TGIF!!!.
Good morning!!. Hi Karen!! Good to see you. You are doing great, girl!! And from someone that was ready to quit. You have just blown past me. I'm so happy for you!!!!! You sound so much happier too. Take care and have fun!. Sharon, thanks for explaining the dry brushing. I was wondering about it myself. I'm very lucky to have very soft skin, all this humidity probably has something to do with it. I have always been a moisturizing kind of person thoughgotta have my lotion! I sure am sagging though. But like you said, capris are fine with me. From the knees down I look super!!. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Busy for me as usual. We'll be getting things ready for vacation this oneno ball games!!!. Take care,.. |
Sharon, thanks for the advice. Going to Target today, and I'll look for a brush and oil. Thanks!!.
Joy - thanks for sharing your insights. Great stuff to think through. When I'm done with One Day Way, I may pick that one up next.. Not too much going on here in rural America. I really struggled yesterday with wanting to eat. There was so much junk at the meeting last night and the place I took the boys for dinner (it's no fun to watch other people eat!!). But I didn't give in, and am happy about being strong (well, now I am, I wasn't at the time!!) and am down 1.1 pounds from yesterday, according to our wii.. Have a wonderful day Diamonds!!.. |
Hey Joyce - we must have posted about the same time! Thanks for the encouragement. I am glad that I didn't quit, and yes, today is a good day (just be glad you didn't talk to me last night!!). You have been quite an inspiration to me, lady. You never forgot about me when I stopped posting here and your notes and posts kept me going. :0) I picture you as the Tortoise, slow and steady WINS the race!!.
Guess what guys!!!! I just checked my BMI online, and ..........drum roll please............ I am no longer Morbidly Obese!!!. How cool is that? I'm just good old, regular obese!! LOL.. |
Hi - I saw this group and wondered about any requirements to join? Browsing through - it seems like everyone is supporting each other with positive motivation? It seems like many of the folks have similar start/stop weights and this seems like a good fit for me. LMK...
Joyce and Sharon,.
Thank you for the help with the muffin recipes. I made some last night using only 1tsp baking powder. They took much longer to bake, but were edible.. Joyce, will the muffin recipe you posted cover the mocha flavor in the mocha shakes?? I have tried everything I can to mask the flavor and can't do it (I am not a coffee fan at all). I just tried some of the garlic/herb light laughing cow cheese spread on about 6 4inch celery stalks. It was amazing. I bought all the flavors of the light LC cheese to give them a try... |
YAY!!!!! for Karen!!!!.
This is the only place that I know where people are happy to be just obese, or overweight! It's the little things that keep us going and keep us motivated, right?. Joyce - Try to get a little bit of "me" time in this weekend, and relax a bit.. JackSpratswife - Welcome, you just joined! Just post along here whenever you can. We try to be here to encourage and help along the way as much as we can. Ask questions, play on the boards, read up on everything you can. This is a wonderful group! Welcome to the Diamonds!. Christine - I love, love, love, LC cheese. The garlic and herb are my favorite. I know they came out with some new flavors but haven't found them yet.. AFM - Busy day at summer school but now I think I am going to get a pedicure and relax tonight. Chill this weekend and do it all over again next week!. Check back in later Diamonds!.. |
TGIF!!!! This has been one tough week and I am so grateful to see the end of it! Planning a busy "me" focused weekend, as I am in need of major distraction, major fun, & major relaxation. My DH has gone above and beyond in the support department the last 2 weeks and I'm planning some "us" time as well. I wish you all a wonderful OP, relaxed, weekend!.
Karen -. 100 pounds, an entire person, GONE FOREVER!!!! Celebrate your shrinking self in a big way!. Have I mentioned how much your honesty, humor, & tenacity inspire me? I got the news from my doc last week that I was no longer morbidly obese and I can so relate to your excitement about being "good, old, regular obese". I came back to work all excited about being simply obese and my co-workers looked at me like I was nuts, Guess you have to have been there to get it. PS: Who wrote "The One Day Way"?. Joyce- 1 pound and a couple of ounces to the 100 pound mark, I am so excited for you! What an achievement! Each time one of my Diamond buddies hits one of these big landmarks, it gives me hope that I too will reach these landmarks on my own journey. How lucky am I to hang out with such wonderful, inspiring, successful folks? Where are you going on vacation? I remember it's to visit family (I think???) but not where. Hopefully some place dry after the summer you've had. .. Christine - A Medifast friend makes muffins using 1 chocolate shake or pudding with one mocha shake - cause she doesn't like the mocha shake either. She says that this, along with some vanilla or chocolate SF syrup hides the coffee flavor. That makes sense to me, as coffee is often added to extra chocolaty recipes to pop the chocolate flavor. I bet your cinnamon syrup would work too. I love the garlic/herb LC cheese. Haven't tried the onion, do you like it as much as the garlic? Haven't seen any other flavors other than the regular swiss, which I also like. JackSpratsWife - Welcome aboard! This group has pulled me through many a challenging day, frequently makes me laugh, inspires me, and gives me all sorts of great ideas. I don't know where you are on your journey, but if you're in the early days let me affirm that although the 1st 2 weeks may be tough, it is so worth it! Check out everybody's tickers - this program works if you give it a chance. And the freedom that comes with your shrinking body is indescribabley wonderful!. Kori - Do you have a nice group of kids this term? Ooh, a pedicure, what a good idea. I just might have to take your example and run with it, my tired toes could use some pampering!. Hello to everyone I missed, I haven't caught up with all the posts this last week - but I will. Do something sweet for yourself this week-end and make the most of the journey. After all, we only get one precious life (that we know about for sure), so live it like you mean it!. Sharon.. |
Laughing Cow cheese updatethe queso fresco and chipotle is amazing as well. just a slight kick of flavor. sure peps up plain celery and that little bit of cheese sure covers a lot of celery..

Sharon - I do have a good group of kids. Its summer school so only 6 students and 3 adults helping. It is great! BTW, pedicure was awesome! Took my 3 yr old neice with me and mom and she wanted to put her feet in the water and everything too. So glad I have lost weight because now she fits on the chair with me and can put her feet in the water with auntie! Had a great time!.
Christine - Thanks for the update on the LC flavors. I really need to find some in a local store. Wonder if I can ask for them to order for me? Hmmmm...may have to find out... |

Hi OMA, Great Job and so far this month I've become more of a "lurker" too...I also have increased my activity level & gone back to the gym & Wii almost daily & initially saw a bit of a slow down. I have to agree with SharonI find I need to mix a few days in at the 1000 or sometime s even higher range. I do so by splitting my L&G & adding extra protein. I also watch the tracker to compare how much I'm burning and always try to stay at least at 1500 calories burned for the day. Also I find that mixing in a few higher then lower calories days keeps your body & metabolism guessing rather than getting into a rut..
Hope that helps & Keep up the great work,. Peg.. |

Quoting Klynne.
This is the only place that I know where people are happy to be just obese, or overweight! It's the little things that keep us going and keep us motivated, right?. LOL. And Amen to that and to everyone for their constant support of each of us.. Karen... way to go! JackSprats Wife... your initial message sounded just like mone a month ago!!! Welcome and this is an awesome group. Been crazy busy at work and home and haven't been able to log in too often, but have been 95%+ OP ( I just can't seem to be perfect (or more than likely don't want to be) and probably I am more OP than I think. can't complain steadily losing and down a total of 23.5 in 6 weeks. Feelin better, especially with energy level & finally starting to see some differences in mirror.. Hope all is well with everyone and no one is suffering the crazy weather too much. I have had good thoughts for all of you. Catch you all as soon as I can,. Peg.. |
Peg - Glad to see you here! 95% is good but what isn't working? Is there anything we can help you with? What seems to be stopping you up from being 100%?? Let us know if you need us!..

Saturday - Yippee!!!.
The sun is shining, my massage therapist called and said she'd squeeze me today, Starbuck scaled & said the cinnamon dulce sf syrup is in, and I have a date with my husband and another couple to hear my son sing & play trumpet with his jazz group at a wine bar tonight. (Hoping they have something other than wine, bringing a bottle of sparkling water just in case) So nice NOT to be at work today! Brought 4 boxes of clothes to my weight loss support group today, got rid of some beautiful clothing that I never want to fit in a again. I have officially lost the ability to shop from my closet, as I haven't been this low for more than 20 years.. Christine - OMG, I want some queso fresco and chipotle laughing cow!!! I'm thinking this would be really good in cauliflower mashed potatoes or chili rellanos or as a dip for pretzels. My market had the new blue cheese, but no queso. I'll let you know how the blue cheese is.. Kori - Peanut butter ice cream???? That could be deadly good! Sounds like you had a great time with your niece & mom! It's so important that we reclaim & nurture our bodies in positive ways. You set such a good example for us with your self care (like exercise & pedicures)! Oh, and I did finally get a picture posted. I didn't take any real before photos, couldn't stand the thought. But I found a rare full body shot from January. My sister & I share Oprah's birthday and spent our birthday at her show. I sent this pic to my sis to see if she approved of my clothing choice.. Peg - Glad to hear you are doing well! 23.5 pounds in 6 weeks - you are rocking! Good job!. Wish you all a wonderful weekend, live big, stay OP and take time to appreciate the every day miracles that you are blessed with today!. Sharon.. |
Sharon,.
Love the photo and sounds like you have an awesome weekend planned. Enjoy!!!. Peg.. |

GOOD SUNDAY EVENNG DIAMONDS.
Joyce-You are so funny and humble-slow and steady my aunt martha! You amaze me and your weight loss is incredible.. Karen- good for you for fighting the temptation to eat and then of course the luxury of self recrimination. You are doing so well and it's nice to overcome that urge to eat.. Welcome Jack's wife! This group will talk you off the ledge every time if you come here when you're weak and craving.. Christine-I got nothing for you n the mocha. I've go a box of shakes I'm working through like medicine. I add the ice and do the blender thing. It still tastes like cold sweet coffee. yuck!. Kori-Wow girl you go! So close to onederland! Thanks for links to the 2 new products. I'm going to try them both. I soft freeze the pudding now, so I can't wait to try the ice cream.. Sharon-I hope this weekend was everything you wished for. How was the wine bar and your son's band? Sounds like a great evening. You also gave away all those clothes. Man I could have used your wardrobe-I'm still a couple of sizes behind you. Great pictures by the way. You look amazing!. Peg-Hang in there girl. Let's take Kori up on her offer and be 100% OP. We'll check in often and be ready to tackle any temptation that comes our way this week.. To Mike, Sarah, and all the other friends I haven't mentioned. I'm sending good thoughts your way.. I weighed in and lost 1 pound so I've lost what I gained on vacation and now losing real weight. I forgot to update my ticker so I'll get to that in the morning. It was the DH's birthday, but we managed to eat bars and puffs on the beach grilled fish for dinner. Not to sure how I'll fair with the cake that the kids got, but I'll make it!. You all have a wonderful evening and a great OP week ahead!.. |
Hello Diamonds!.
It's been a while, but I thought I would drop in and say hello! Had a number of complications with the surgery and am now temporarily residing in a skilled nursing facility. I am not currently doing medifast (doc said "no"), but let me tell you, after the food here, I can't wait to return! I will continue to lurk here while I wait to be well enough to rejoin all of you on our weight loss journey!.. |
Sarah- Hey I was just thinking of you. Still on my prayer list and sounds like I'll keep you there for a while. Rehab is a blessing and curse. I'm sure it's tough but I know you'll succeed and be home and back at it in no time. Keep lurking and we'll try to entertain f nothing else..
Hang in there girl!.. |
Hey Diamonds,.
Who had a link or instructions on weighing the "green" vs. measuring by the cup? Sharon maybe? Can you share the link or tell me where you found it please?.. |
Sweet Friends ~ I hope you had a splendid weekend! I sure enjoyed my 2 days of pure indulgence. Only chore I did was to go to the grocery store. I am so glad I was slow placing my next Medifast order - because I checked our discussion board right before I ordered and there were the links for the new products! (Thank you Kori!!!) I have been jonesing for peanut butter in a big way and can hardly wait to taste it ala Medifast ice cream.
I spent an hour cutting flowers this evening and have bouquets of roses, lavender hydrangea, red yarrow & butterfly bush through out the house. Smells good and makes me happy. DS's jazz duo was fabulous last night and he indulged me by singing a couple of my favorites. (When you're 22 and still living at home, you gotta make sure you keep mom happy. )Recharged & rested.. Sarah - I'm so sorry you are dealing with complications! You remain in my thoughts and prayers and I hope physical therapy is going well. You must miss your little ones (and I'm sure they miss you). Be gentle with yourself and heal up strong!. Mary - Here's the link for the vegetable by weight chart.. I keep it printed in my kitchen, makes a big difference to way leafy greens! I would love to be able to pass some of my no longer fits along to you. Most of it I'm not attached to, but it's easier to give the stuff I really like to someone I know versus the Good Will or hospice thrift store. (So if you're headed up to wine country anytime soon, let me know. ). Joyce - Are you ready for vacation?. Christine - OK, my daughter told me today that the honest truth is that the only way she's been able to make the swiss mocha edible is to use it in muffins along with a chocolate shake or pudding. (So you would double the recipe 2 oatmeals, 1 mocha shake, 1 chocolate shake) She uses some Walden farms chocolate syrup in hers too. BTW - Finally got the sf cinnamon dulce syrup you had recommended. Add some to the banana muffins I made this week and loved it. Gave them a cinnamon, buttery flavor. Yum!. Hellos to Kori, Peg, Karen, Annisa, Jackspratswife, Mike (How are you? Where you walking these days?), Joy & Kraftie! Life is short, live yours like you mean it Diamonds!. Have a high energy, OP, well hydrated, wonderful Monday!. Sharon.. |
I am all shopped out. Massive back to school shopping with the penny sales at Staples. Going to bed now. Will do shout outs in the am..
Sarah - Glad you are at least lurking. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. {{Hugs}}.. |
Happy Monday Diamonds!.
Sarah : I hope you heal up and get home soon. It's such a bummer to be stuck in the hospital or rehab.. Kori : You're doing so great! Congradulations on the continued successful weight loss.. Everyone : Hope you all have a fabulous OP week!. AFM : I'm shopped out also. I went on a full shopping day on Saturday with a group of friends. I wasn't able to make it to the gym, and I was too tired by the time I got home to work out to a video or the Wii. Then on Sunday my mom and I drove to the nearest big town (1 hour away) and also spent the day shopping. I again missed the gym, but I can't miss working out 2 days in a row, so I jumped on the Wii for 1 1/2 hours. My feet were killing me afterward, but I'm just thankful I'm able to be active for so long without any serious problems. I'm going to contact Medifast via phone and ask if I can order the new products as samples. I can't wait to try all the ice cream out!!! (Ice cream might be my favorite thing ever). Jenn.. |
I did some searching and found that a cup of romaine weighs 55 grams. That doesn't help on my scale as it measures ounces. Haven't made the effort to convert the measurement yet. Just a bit of trivia...

Morning Diamonds! Wow, lots of action here since Friday! Took me a while to catch up..
Chris, I bet if you use chocolate syrup with the mocha shake it will cover it. Oooh, wish we had all those flavors of LC cheese here. I absolutely love it in the "mashed potato" cauliflower. My DH even likes it!. JackSpratsWife, welcome, we're glad to have you here!!. Sharon, I think I like your pictures but they're so small my old eyes can barely see them.. Can you post them in the picture section so they're bigger? Looks like you can really see the weight loss!! I bet you really do feel great being your smallest in 20 yrs. Wow!!! And seeing Oprah, I'm jealous. That would be just awesome! I read somewhere that she has the author of Women, Food, and God (I think that's it) on today. I set the DVR. Your flowers sound wonderful. Hydrangeas are my favorite, especially blue and purple. Your weekend sounds wonderful. Glad you had fun! We're going to GA and SC and no, I'm not ready yet!!. Kori, sounds like you had a great time. I'm going for a pedi this evening I think. Gotta get my toes ready for vacation!. Peg, 23.5 lbs. in 6 wks. is great. Keep it going.. Mary, you're so sweet. Girl, I wish you were close to me. I've given away at least 30 large trash bags of clothes, from 28 down to 20. Just got a bag of 18s ready yesterdayall less than 1 year old!! Woohoo. Giving away my new ones now!! Very few items left in my closest over 1 year old.. Sarah, glad you're at least able to lurk again! Keep up the getting well bit and get back to us soon!. Jenn, good to see you!. Karen, I'm sure you're at least lurking, right???? You are just doing so great!!. AFM, busy weekend. No rest for the wicked/weary???? Whatever! It's hard work getting ready for vacation. Got my Medifast packed and that's it, but that's the most important, right?? A Medifast buddy (DS's MIL) gave me some of her too big clothes and they're all too big for me too!! Guess I look bigger than I am??? Again, whatever!! Anyway, encouraged me to get rid of a few more of my too big things. I'm lucky that my secretary's dad has garage sales all the time to make extra money so I just give everything to her. She also has 11 siblings with lots of kids so they get a lot of my clothes too. Makes me feel better to know someone is getting good use of them or making money from them. Tried on the dress I wore to DD's wedding in '96. Couldn't get it zipped all the way but it went over my hipswoohoo!! Getting there. Never thought I would be that small again. Hoping and hoping and praying to break the 100 lb. mark this week before vacation and my one-year Medifast anniversary on Thurs.. Y'all have a good one and hi to anyone I missed!! Love y'all!!!.. |
Just an FYI.
The soft serve and pancakes are up and ready to order. I just added some to my next shipment... |
Me too! I am so excited to try the pancakes & ice cream. Placed a combined order with my mom yesterday to save on S&H - always running out of snack food..
We went a little nuts with the new SF syrups. Cooked up mega batches of brownies in different flavors - English Toffee was her fave! Also made her Kahlua and Amaretto.. Froze them all for her to enjoy at night at her house.. We are having so much fun experimenting with Medifast foods to make them more palatable.. I know we have to be careful to count the carbs in the SF syrups and other add-ins.. Made a amaretto cheese cake brownie over the weekend - pure heaven!. Just trying to make it fun!.. |
Hi Diamonds,.
Sorry to be MIA. Something happened this weekend that I didn't deal with well at all, and you may have guessed it, but I've been off the wagon and slowly getting myself back on. Certainly has shown me that I still have a ways to go to get my food issues under control. My goal is to be 100% tomorrow.. Sara - Sorry to hear that you had complications from your surgery, but I'm glad that you're on the mend. You're in my prayers. Please keep us updated.. Joyce - If you don't make 100 pounds by your anniversary, KNOW that it's right around the corner. Try not to stress yourself out about it. You' get there, no matter when. You know that if you stick to MF, you will get success.....how cool is that? Keep on keepin' on!!. Hi to everyone else. Sorry for not mentioning everyone. Heading off to bed now. :0).. |
Joyce - You are such a busy lady. Makes me feel good that I am not the only one running around crazy. So cool about the clothes not fitting though. You are going to ahve so much fun on vacation. Oh, and don't worry about hitting 100 before your anniversary. You know your body reacts to stress and stops losing, if you stress, you won't hit it.
Karen - Sorry to hear you didn't have a good last few days. Hope everything is all right. Sucks to have to get back on the wagon, but the wagon is a whole lot healthier! You know how to make the plan work for you!. JackSpratsWife - Mmmmm, your brownie creations sound yummy! I think I might try the english toffee. I have some SF English Toffee syrup in my pantry.. Jenn - Good for you hopping on the Wii even after all the shopping!. AFM - I am officially under 200 lbs!!! YAY!!!! Now on to the 100 lbs lost mark. Been busy with work and stuff as usual but staying OP, drinking my water, and trying to exercise as much as possible. Need to ride my bike again as well...been too long. OK. need to get going again...check back in later Diamonds!.. |
Good Wednesday evening Diamonds!.
Kori-Woo-Hoo girl! Major ticker envy! You're so rocking the plan! Congrats!. Joyce- I've lost just enough to have baggy drawers, but they stay up. I look my depends is full, but I haven't splurged on clothes. Good for you for being into a new wardrobe and size. Have a great vacation in your slimmer size. Nice!. Sharon-I wish I was coming to wine country soon. My DH and I were there in 07 for our 25th and will be going out again in 2011. We lived in Monterey for a few years and consider the central coast and wine country a favorite for us....sigh...ah well wouldn't I miss the humidity and flat land of the east coast..no..no..probably not. Anyway, congrats to you on your huge success so far and coming"out of your closet". Smart of you to continue to get rid os the bigger stuff and cut the safety net. You go girl! By the way I weighed salad today. Peg- Keep it up you are doing great.. Karen-Sorry to hear you're being challenged so much. Life can derail even the best intentions, but you came to the right place for a boost to get back on the wagon. Hang in there.. Sarah-I'm keeping you on my prayer list so lurk all you want and let me know if you need specific prayer for something. Hopefully you'll be home soon.. Jack'swife-I tried you brownies and the girls at work wanted me to share the recipe because they smelled so good.I ordered the pancakes and ice cream. I'll post a review when they arrive. Where did you get your SF syrup that you went nuts over?. Christine-Congrats on the 10%. I think it took 6 months on WW for me to lose 10%. Post your thoughts n the new products too.. Jenn-Nice work. I may have to get on the wii myself. I need the exercise.. AFM- On program and drinking lots of water. I went out and got a mini blender(magic bullet) to make the shakes a little better. (And the ice cream says to use one. I'm looking for any good ideas you have for shakes. I've been purist until just recently when I bought my first SF syrup, so it's time to branch out. I'll have to review all of Joys recipes!. Mike and Joy- Hope all is well!. You all have a good OP night!.. |

WOO HOO, KORI IS RIDING THE ONEDERLAND EXPRESS ~ ALL ABOARD!.
Celebrate big girlfriend!. Karen - Each time you fall off the horse and climb back on, you learn and grow. It took us a long time to get to where we started and it takes a while for our brains to retrain. I imagine that I will always be tempted to turn to food when the going gets stressful, painful, or frustrating. But each time I make it through another "life event"... even when I'm not perfect, I get stronger and the next challenge gets easier to cope with. Your self awareness keeps on growing and you are making progress!. Mary - I'm awaiting my order as well... can't wait to try the peanut butter ice cream :P. Joyce - I'll try to get the photos posted bigger this week. Have a wonderful time in your new skinny wardrobe!. AFM: Went to the dentist yesterday and fit into the dental chair! Yippee, didn't have to ask some one to remove the arm rest and no bruised hips today!. Take care Diamonds!. Sharon.. |

Hi everyone. Been very hectic. I've plateaued a bit with my weight loss lately - about a pound over the last two weeks. But I know what's causing it. I haven't been 100% OP and I haven't done enough exercise in the heat of summer...
Hey Diamonds,.
Mike-Good to see your still at it. It has been hot in the Nation's Capitol. Can't blame you for not walking. Anything we can do to help get you back OP? I know how easy it is to BLT your way to any extra 200 calories. Those extra really kick us out of ketosis and make it that much harder to resist anything else. Any way, I'll let you know where I'm preaching next Sunday so you can try to be there. Glad your back!. Joyce- You look fantastic and if she gave you clothes that are too big, it was wishful thinking on her part. She's probably string in the mirror right now convincing herself that her butt is small. Pack great clothes and enjoy your vacation. I've got a feeling you will break the 100 lbs this week. Happy Medifast Anniversary.. AFM- I tried the Mango ice cream last night. Pretty good consistency and fairly easy to prepare. I'll definitely finish the box. I also go the mint chocolate to try tonight. I'm on my way to the kitchen now to try the pancakes. This week end I measure and I'm a little worried that even pretend pancakes will ruin my weight loss.. I'm good though, I know the scales have dropped this week, cause I cheated and hopped on mid week.. Must prepare to be OP today. Have a great day everyone!.. |
Kori - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Wow, you're REALLY rocking this program!!.
Sharon, thanks for the encouragement. You're right. I really want this to be the LAST time I ever have to lose weight again.. Not much going on here. Missing walking with my friend this week. STILL waiting for my dr. to fill out a form that should take 2 minutes MAXIMUM to fill out. She's been back from vacation since Monday. Really trying to be calm about it. This is the last piece of paper we need to complete our homestudy.. Have a great day, Diamonds!!.. |
Good Sunday Morning Diamonds,.
It's been a quiet weekend on the boards. I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying being completely OP. I'll be spending the day at the beach and a little worried that I won't be able to resist soft ice cream when we stop. The stop is a family tradition, but I don't have to eat. I won't get pressure from my family either way, s it will be up to me. I only lost 1 lb this week. Oh well. Beach first, then decision time. I've packed well for the day.. It should be beautiful.. Have a great OP day Diamonds... |
Hi all!.
Just thought I would say hi and a bit congrats to Kori! Hard work well rewarded!. I am cleared to head home on Tuesday and even though I am not yet walking well, I will have a therapist coming out to our home to continue to work on getting my left leg going again! That said, I was able to walk 12ft with the walker on Saturday! My tremors have mostly stopped. Turned out they were mostly a response to unmanaged nerve pain, stress and my body just basically saying "I have had enough!" I can't wait to get home and will continue lurking here until my doc clears me to start my Medifast journey again!.. |
Hello Diamonds,.
I'm struggling this weekend; grumpy & resentful that "I have to do this stupid program". As if I don't have a choice, like I haven't unconsciously made the choice to fail a 1000 programs before this one.. I do recognize progress in all of this, my self-awareness has grown to the point where I can see that my life doesn't "just happen" to me, that I am responsible for how I respond to life's little (or big) hurdles and that everything I think, do or say involves a choice. So do I choose what serves me or what does not? Do I choose to stuff uncomfortable feelings & live insulated in my own fat or feel what is, let it go, and move on? Do what I've always done & get the same results or step outside of my comfort zone, take risks, trust that the universe is a friendly place and move in the direction of my dreams?. Yes, I could choose to eat a multi coursed Italian meal el fresco with friends this evening, honestly enter it into my tracker, and take full ownership of making a decision that will alter my weight loss & likely make it harder to stay on program, which I'm already struggling with. (Italian is my favorite & the hardest for me to stay on track with). Or I could call ahead and ask them to prepare a special salad with specified ingredients for me. Or I could ask my friends if Mexican - which is not so problematic for me - would be OK with them. Or I could sit home & pout... which would be embarrassing, as my husband would tattle. So I'll suck it up - my pride that is - and ask for their help. I don't like asking for help, I am the helper, not the helped. One more coping skill it's time to learn... darn it! And I get irate with my 23 year olds childish behavior...... OK, phone calls to make & an attitude to change, better get to it. Thanks for being a safe place to process through what needs to be sorted! I appreciate you all!. Sharon.. |
Mary - Good luck with the vacation!.
Sarah - So good to see you here girl! One step at a time.. Mike - Get back 100% OP and you will see the drop in lbs. again. You know how to make the program work.. Karen - Hope you get the paper filled out by the Dr. Sometimes you have to be the big pest to get what you need.. Sharon - Glad you ranted and vented here on the boards instead of making bad choices. Hope that helped to make it easier for you to make the right choices.. AFM - Spent a lovely weekend in Santa Barbara with the family. Have one more day of summer school then off to Vegas for the rest of the week. Can't wait to spend the days by the pool and the evenings trying to win some money! Check back in with my Diamonds later... |
Sharon,.
So how did the vulnerability with friends work out? I hope you spent to today able to see the incredible progress you have made so far. Look how close you are to oneland!. If you will indulge advice from someone not on plan, but in a similar mindset. I have been spending a lot of time reframing my thoughts from what I can't do to what I can do and focusing on what I am saying yes to and looking forward to rather than what I have to miss out on right now. It is really helping keep my focus and attitude moving in a forward direction!. Either way, be blessed and give yourself some extra kindness and grace as needed! blessings.. |

Good morning Diamonds!.
It's been a rough couple of weeks. My 17 year old dog had to be put to sleep last week. It's been crazy busy here at work. The receptionist in our office is gone this week, so I am doing her job and mine. I have 2 or 3 days this week I have plans with friends after work. (that almost never happens) I ate off plan 3 or 4 times last week and had a low weight loss of 1.2 lbs. AHH! 4 & 1/2 months ago I would be eating 1 or 2 bags of candy a day for a month! I must be really committed to getting healthy finally, because I haven't even looked longingly at the candy isle. Good luck to everyone else having a difficult patch (Sharon)! Talk to you later..... Jenn.. |
Hi y'all, just a quickie stop by. My parents don't have internet anymore and it's too hard trying to do this on my phone so.anyway I'm at my sister's for a few minutes and grabbed my chance! Hope everyone is doing great. I'm seeing lots of family on vacation and staying OP!!! Woohoo for me! My family was shocked to see minus 100+ pounds. It was a great boost to my ego. Gotta go. Check y'all later!!!..

Hello All,.
I am new to MF. Started 1 day ago and I have 118# to lose. I liked reading your discussions so far. Just thought I would join the party. Have a great day.. Staci.. |

Quick, late night check in as it's another crazy week at work. Thank you all for your support & kind advice. My very adolescent behavior surprised me and gave me yet another opportunity to delve a little deeper into the crazy thinking that got me morbidly obese in the first place. By the way, our friends were happy to go to a steak house instead of Italian, at which point I had to admit to myself that it was never really about where we were eating. More about feeling weird in this new body I'm wearing & being super stressed with work and not knowing how to move through the feelings without sedating myself with food. Talked to a friend about it and just saying it aloud helped me to move through it & shift back to my normally optimistic self.
So today I am grateful that I have a job, that I work with some truly wonderful women, that I get to hold new babies every day, that I can walk up two flights of stairs with no shortness of breath now and that I have an incredible family who loves me fat, thin, crabby & cheerful. Will try to get back on tomorrow and send some shout outs.. Have a great OP Wednesday!.. |
Made it to Vegas. Will be here for a few days then back home. Stay OP Diamonds. Drink your water and make good choices!..
It is amazing how what we eat greatly effects how I feel physically. Chose to indulge this week and have felt awful!! Back on plan today..
How do I join the Diamonds in the Rough group? I just started Medifast and I'm on Day 4 today. I've not used discussion boards before so I'm not sure how this works. Thanks!..

Good Evening Diamonds,.
We have been a busy group cause there's not much action on the board.. Sharon-I'm relieved to here that I'm not the only one who's crabby and struggling. You've been my role model since I started and I like my role models human. I know your dinner went well and that you've worked your way back to satisfied with the 100% OP plan. You've made such progress and I know you can do this. Hang in there.. Sarah- One step at a time. I'm so glad you'll be home with home care. Keep up the good work and let us know when you're ready to get back OP. I've still got you on my prayer list. Heal well with patience.. Kori- Win big and enjoy the trip!. Jenn-Sorry to here about your dog and all the extra work. Even all the social stuff can be tiring when there's already so much going on. Hang in there and enjoy what you can.. AFM-I have had a mostly off program week and have no one to blame but myself. I am however absolutely committed and honest about what I did. I made choices and I'm OK with that. I also made the choice to be back OP now that my week of clinical documentation focus group is behind me. It's sweltering on the East Coast and I'm not sure I can stand even a walk in 100 degree heat. But I'm doing a full moon Kayak rip tomorrow night and intend to enjoy it. Have a wonderful OP weekend Diamonds!.. |
Hey Sunshine Welcome!.
You just did it! You joined when you posted your first note. You'll find everyone here will cheer as you lose and encourage when you are struggling. Those first days are tough and I'd encourage you to visit the boards frequently at first.. We have some super losers who have lost 100+ and some like me in the 30 lb range. You've chosen a great program that works.. Congrats and good luck. Wait til you see the scales this week!.. |
Well I made it thru the first 5 days .. I feel pretty good. Less bloated and seem to have more energy. Heck, I just cleaned the house on a Friday night vs going to bed. YEAH ME! Thanks to everyone for all the ongoing support...
Jacksprat -Woo-Hoo!!! 10% is not such a little goal, in fact losing 10% of your body weight is a big deal! Congratulations on a job well done.
Angie ~ You're doing great! Sounds like you're in to ketosis & on the road to a skinnier self. Can't wait to celebrate your first week loss. Staci and Sunshine~ Welcome to the Diamonds! A more supportive group of folks can't be found. This program works, as evidenced by the tickers above - check out Kori, Joyce, & Karen for starters.. Joyce - It must have been fun to surprise your family with "the new you"!!! Hope you are having a wonderful time!. Kori - Have you seen any shows? What has been your favorite restaurant for your L&G? I'm going to LV for a conference in September and would be happy to have some tips. Hope you are winning BIG!. Lots of folks on vacation this last week - wishing you all a great OP time!. Joy - Where the heck are you girl??? Got my vanilla shakes finally, can't wait to make pumpkin bread tomorrow! Finally ordered my PB2... oh the possibilities!. Mary - I am back on track attitude wise and happy to hear that you're back OP, together we can do this! I am now at my lowest adult weight & was unprepared for the range of emotions that have been coming up. With a few minor indiscretions, I've stayed OP. But the universe has made it abundantly clear that I need to learn some new coping skills, since oral sedation (as in stuffing it down) is no longer an option. Enjoy your moonlight kayak trip!. Sarah - Are you home yet? Sure hope so. Heal strong my friend.. AFM: So grateful for the weekend! I'm going to a lunch concert at church tomorrow and will be bringing 1 container of TJ's egg white salad & celery to dip into it. Love the stuff & love that I will still have 2/3rds my lean left for dinner. We are having beautiful, relatively mild weather, so I'm looking forward to a walk tomorrow morning & some time cutting lavender. My house will smell so good!!!. Be well my friends ~ drink your water and make good choices!. Sharon.. |

Hi Diamonds!.
I've been away from the boards because my mom had another surgery this past Tuesday. Her lone kidney is just about to go, so they're preparing her for dialysis. The only viable vein was deep in her upper left arm, between her shoulder and elbow. She had an arteriovenous fistuala (the connection of a vein and an artery) surgically implanted. It will take at least 2 months to heal and grow large enough to start dialysis. Please continue to keep her in your prayers because if her kidney fails between now and then, they will have to perform emergency surgery and put a port in her chest. Well Friday morning she woke up and her arm was very swollen and her incision was leaking. It was back to the vascular surgeon's office at Mayo and then he sent her for an ultrasound. The swelling has gone down, but she's just completely exhausted. I'm hoping tomorrow she can just relax.. Congrats to everyone for staying positive on this journey of ours. I know it's a daily struggle for many of us. I'm re-reading "Women, Food & God" and continue to learn a lot about myself, how I got to this point and that I don't have to let this be a "life sentence" for me. I love Medifast because it's simple, tasty and I know what I can and can't eat. My challenge, once I've lost the weight, will be trusting in myself to make the best decisions for my health. I've come to the realization that every time I choose to eat something when I'm not truly hungry, I'm choosing to hurt myself. To just numb myself with food. It's sooo much harder to sit through the pain. I always thought I just loved food and deserved to eat whatever I wanted. I never even realized I was using it to avoid all those negative feelings. Sorry to get so deep, but I just wonder if anyone else feels the same way?. Well it's 1:08 a.m. here in Florida, so I best be heading to bed. I will check back in tomorrow to see how everyone's doing.. Sharon - Can't wait to hear if you like my pumpkin bread recipe. I tried the new pancakes earlier this week and they were quite tasty. Have you tried them yet?. Goodnight,. Joy. Started: 4/5/10. WEEKS (1 - 4): -7, -4, -3, -6 (-20 lbs. & -11"). WEEKS (5 - 8): -2, -3, -2, -3 (-10 lbs. & 8"). WEEKS (9 - 12): -3, -3, -2, ??? (-8 lbs. & 6") out of town week 12 & no scale. WEEKS (13-16): -5, -1, -3.. |
Hi Joy & All,.
Joy, so sorry to hear of your mom's set backs & I will keep her in my prayers. One positive is she's in the best hands at Mayo. Also thanks for being so deep, I think it helps to bring us back to the reality & helps keep us honest.. Just jumping back in & haven't even been able to lurk. Although I've lost the past 2 weeks, I can tell I'm totally off my game mentally and definitely been slipping. For me, it really helps to come on here and read the messages and blogs. So my goal for this week will be to check in here daily and read, even if I can't respond to any or all.. Hope everyone is doing well & enjoying vacations. Peg.. |
Hi Again,.
Ok I think I finally caught up on all the reading.. Welcome to the newbies, I was just there in the beginning of June and this board is the BEST and so supportive! Stick with this and great things will happen.. Sarah, glad to hear things are getting a bit better. You're in our prayers. Mary, I'm on East coast too ( Philly area), but can't complain... don't think I've gone out in this heat long enough to be bothered ( LOL). Thank God for my AC and inside job! Can't wait to hear about your Kayak trip.. sounds so cool. Also do you work in the Pharma/clinical field?. Joyce, must feel awesome to have seen your family's reaction. Happy Anniversary & 100 lbs loss!!!!!. Kori, CONGRATS on ONEderland!!!!! Hope you're enjoying Vegas... was there for 1st time last Oct and can't wait to go back!!! We took the Grand Canyon bus tour, saw Jay Leno and went to the Jubilee show at Bally's. This is the traditional old time LV showgirl show, and once you get thru the first few topless acts, you forget about all that & just enjoy the pure entertainment. I would highly recommend it, even to my own adult kids!. Jack Sprat- 10% feels awesome doesn't it! Good for you & remember one % at a time will get us there & before we know it we will have reached 100% of our goal.. Sharon & Kristine & Mary: I can so relate to your recent struggles. Good for you for hanging in there!. I have not been sticking 100% OP for past few weeks & each day found more BLT's creeping in and more just thinking & obsessing over food... any & all... all of a sudden I start thinking of food & tastes and I am right back there wanting more & more. Yesterday, I was in a telecon & the hunger welled up & ended up eating 3 Medifast meals before 12 Noon and still nothing was satisfying me. Tried to think is it stress & worry or possibly approaching TOM or that I had been sick earlier in week & not as hungry. I ended up giving in a bit, but tried to stick to extra Medifast & protein & finally @ 730pm after what seemed like constant picking & eating, felt satisfied & over hump and now not so hungry today. BUT it's equally true that good thoughts will keep us on the right path.. Hope I didn't miss anyone. Time to get back to the gym. Haven't been there all week & gotta get back on track. Peg.. |
Good Morning Diamonds,.
I'm way behind and can"t catch up or shout out but I just gotta tell ya, 250 LBS DOES FIT IN A 10 FOOT KAYAK! I'll try to post a picture later 'cause really it wasn't pretty. But it was a huge NSV for me since I was afraid I'd get there and have to stay on shore.. Have a great OP day!.. |
This quote was posted on another groups boards, my Sexy Shamrocks board and thought I would bring it here too! This quote is totally how I have been living since I started MF..
There is a difference between interest and commitment. When youre interested in doing something, you only do it when it's convenient. When youre committed to something, you accept no excuse, only results.. |
Hi Diamonds!.
Kori - Love the quote you posted. For me this quote circles back to being honest with myself - am I choosing to be on program or off program? Those are the only two honest options, I get to choose, no one else but me is responsible for the choice I make. There is no one that can "make" me fall off the wagon, nor are there circumstances in which it is OK to hurt myself - the choice is all mine. How was Vegas?. Mary - What a great NSV! And good for you for trying something new!!!!!. Peg - How was the gym? This journey is an arduous one. And you are right, we will succeed by changing our thinking one belief at a time - one little white envelope at a time will get us there! Hang in there & give yourself the gift of a 100% OP day.. Joy - Loved the pumpkin bread recipe! I used cinnamon dulce SF syrup from Starbucks - OMG, it was wonderful! The cinnamon dulce is a combo of cinnamon, vanilla, & butter flavors, so I am really enjoying it in baked goods. I had pancakes this weekend with a MSF sausage patty for brunch - yum! I will add a little baking pwd next time, as they were on the dense side. Sorry to hear your mom hasn't been doing well again, I'll definitely keep her in my prayers. Meanwhile, remember to take good care of yourself as you are taking care of her. While you were away from the boards, I was going through a similar struggle to what you mentioned. It's no longer an option for me to carry this weight- my body can't tolerate it anymore. So I continue to take one little step at a time, trusting that I will learn how to live in the world without eating my way through. Hard work we're doing!. Sarah - Sending prayers & good thoughts your way!. Hello to Joyce, Karen, Mike, Christine, and are newbies! Hope you are all doing well!. AFM: Focusing on being grateful for what is working in my life & for the abundance I enjoy, versus focusing on what's not working. And among my many blessings, are all of you to share the journey with - Thank you!. Sharon.. |
Kori... LOVE THE QUOTE and Sharon love your follow up to the quote. I am printing and putting on my board behind my computer here at work, but probably need it more so at home on the weekends...
Mary, Congrats on the NSV, SOunds like it was an awesome experience. Wishing everyone well and go for 100% OP!. Peg.. |

Hi Diamonds!.
It's another busy week here. At least our heat wave broke, we're in the lower 90's today. Woo Hoo! Not much happening, still plugging along. I finally broke th 50lbs gone mark. Those last couple of pounds were stubborn. Since I had 2 weeks in a row where I didn't lose very much I decided to change this week around. I know our bodies can get used to a schedule, and my days are all VERY similar. (Saturdays are my weigh in days, and it looks like the change is helping me out). Anyway, hope everyone has a great on plan week!!. Jenn.. |
Hello Diamonds!.
Down 41 lbs as of today's bike ride home. I'm pretty darned happy about that... |
