Question I have... Did anyone ever try the Medifast Slimpatch, and what were results once you stopped? Many thanks for any response. Another question I got... I guess it's time to reconnect here with you all. It's been a few weeks since I really have felt like I wanted to do any posting. My dad passed away from what I know are complications of obesity on Dec 10th.

Since then he has had several.

Stents.

, balloon procedures, a.

Pacemaker.

, another.

Pacemaker.

With a defibulator, two ablations and massive quantities of drugs, one of which in the last several months did so much damage to his lungs that he just couldn't physically cope anymore. He was done. I will surely miss him, but he isn't in pain any longer, he is free. I have said many times in the past few months, when asked why I was having GBS, "I don't want to be my father at 75 years old, sick and unable to enjoy a simple walk." Now I unfortunately have to add, "and dying an early death from obesity"..

My greatest example of what kind of a person to be is gone. My dad was an amazing person. He had no real anger or malice or hate in his heart - ever. Although I can no longer call my dad and ask him if he went fishing over the weekend, because of him I can bait a hook and clean a fish. I can not sit with him over a beer and listen to one of his stories (he had many adventures) but in the spring, I can come to Kansas City again when we all gather, his family and friends, margaritas in hand (his request :-) and listen to all the "Eddie Stories" that have already begun to be retold. A heart that filled every room he entered.

How blessed I have been..

So today I weighed in at 201, down from 247 since.

Surgery.

On October 12th...still I am having challenges. Getting in protein, getting in water, getting in vitamins every day. In it's own unique way, this.

Surgery.

Has narrowed the road even further. I'm.

Learning.

On a whole new level that it's not good for me to get too tired or too stressed. When I get home to Florida next week, I will get back into a good groove of eating and moving and taking care of myself. Funny... I didn't learn that from my dad. I have learned it from you though. I've been lurking for the last couple weeks.

Not a good idea for me. So, I'm back. Gotta get on a good track again. No blame, no foul. Life has been what it has been.

Yep, I learned it from you but I gotta do it for me..

Here's to hoping we all have a good and healthy holiday time. I am giving thanks and praying prayers for all of you, cause you just being here at the end of a long day of dealing with my personal challenges is a blessing I never could have imagined when I stumbled on this site a few short months ago. God Bless, Misa..

Misa:.

You are amazing force. I.

Hope.

You can accept my sincere condolences for your loss..

I have learned the hard way that no matter what life throws at us we can not stop living. We have to find a means to take care of us b/c no one else will..

God bless you and your family during this time. I wish you peace, success, and continued health throughout this season..

Best Regards...

Misa: What a soulful post about your Dad. I am so sorry for your loss. My own father passed away on 10 December 1993. I miss him every day..

Learning.

To take care of ourselves first is a challenge, I think, for all of us here. If we had had that priority in the past, we wouldn't have ended up needing GBS to turn things around. Thanks for that reminder. We have to do it. No one else can do it for us. And life will keep coming at us, whether we continue to care for ourselves or not. So much better to take care........

What a beautiful post about you and your dad. I am so sorry for you loss. I lost my dad when I was only 4 years old but I do remember things about him. I was his little girl. I wonder at times how my life would have been different if he had lived. I am glad you have a lifetime of memories to remember him..

Hope.

You and your family can still have a Merry Christmas..

Thanks again for the replies. I did have a great relationship with my dad. I am forever grateful to God for putting us together! My family is doing really well and we are going to have a quiet, close Christmas. Dad didn't want a funeral. He was never a sad person. He said he wanted us to have a party to celebrate his life.

Remembering.

Him in our own ways. Some.

Crying.

But mostly smiling as we recall special times and how he lived his life with joy. He was born on the fourth of July and always said everyone celebrated his birthday with parades and parties and fireworks! It's just how he saw life.....
