Quick question... Do you have any good snack Medifast recipes? Thanks for any comment. My other question... I have aetna which requires a 6 month weigh in and then you have to see a psychiatrist and Nutritionist. I saw the nutritionist on Nov 30th. Everything else was completed on Nov 10th.

I was told if I Gain any weight while waiting for.

Surgery.

It'll make me get postponed... I have been trying really hard to focus on a Medifast diet since they removed me from an appetite suppressant.. My Question is this...I called Last Monday to speak with my surgeons scheduler she didnt answer so I asked her when do I file for my STD and FMLA..??Do I take the week before.

Surgery.

Off?? And how has the insurance process been going... Of course she called Wed while I was at work unable to answer. She left a message to call back instead of just giving me the details. I called back within 30 minutes. Again was put to her voice mail and now it's been 5 days and she has yet to call me back again.. When do I call again?? I am very excited to start the process and get on to my new life! I am currently like 2 people.....

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you an answer..

I have Aetna HMO also. I didn't take time off til the day of my.

Surgery.

, then 3 weeks out from that point. Why take off unnecessary days? I would also be calling her every hour. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. A girl I work with also had the.

Surgery.

Around the same time I did.. my insurance approval came back within 3 days, hers took 3 weeks. Hang in there. :).

I think a lot of time it's not the insurance companies, but the office staff. Then again, some insurances seem to require more hoop jumping than others..

I have United Health, and some here have had issues getting approved from them. Mine went through within a week or two. The Dr. 's office completely handled all of the paperwork, and contact with the insurance company..

I was Diabetic, had had my thyroid removed (affecting weight too), and was over 300# and was over 50 yrs. of age. So maybe I was a more cut and dry case..

I'd also call every so many days, at least...just letting them know you are interested in the status and offer to call yourself, if that helps. Might also remind her that she can.

Leave.

An update message on voicemail, if you miss each other again, and that you'd just like to know where things stand. She (and the doctor) surely should understand that..

As far as the threat about gaining weight could cost postponement, that is just nuts...but I know many doctors say that to their patients. I was fortunate I guess that the only Medifast diet I was expected to do involved chicken/fish and a little green veggies 5 days before.

Surgery.

, to shrink the liver...standard procedure in my practice..

Having said that, he did not have a minimum and in fact said he had no doubts I'd lose AFTER.

Surgery.

And if I could lose prior, I probably wouldn't be sitting in his office.. waiting for.

Surgery.

That was a first from a doctor..

Again, each practice feels differently about how to proceed, dieting before.

Surgery.

Or not, and how/when to add back foods. So just follow your doctor's advice, but don't hesitate to be your own health advocate. You have a right to know the status of things. Just ask in a nice way. :-)..

I would keep calling her and leaving messages until you get through to her. I completed my 6 month Medifast diet on Aetna HMO, the nutritionist, the support classes and the doctor monitoring.

Weight Watchers.

They approved me in 2 days. So I would keep on the Surgeons office, I was lucky enough to have great girls who worked in the office and were constantly calling the insurance. Just be on top of it, if you are not on top of them, they may make the process much longer for you!! Best of luck, and as for time off, my last day of work is today and my.

Surgery.

Is tomorrow morning!!..

I called this morning at 10am. and got another staff member that put me on hold. Aetna also emailed me saying nothing has been sent to them. The staff member came back saying that they were waiting for the Surgeon to do something before submitting it and he was in.

Surgery.

Today so he wouldnt be doing it today and she would have the Scheduler/coordinator call me back around 3pm Mnt time and that hasn't happened either. Just frustated because I saw the surgeon back at the end of October and I dont understand what he hasn't done on the report that shouldnt have been done last month or sooner since everyone turned in everything by first of Nov and Nutritionist turned it in by the end of Nov. So I will call again daily at this point if she isnt going to call like she says till it's submitted... Tired of the run around I guess.....
