I started Medifast on January 2nd for the first time ever. I am so excited to be on this journey and so happy to see that there are so many people on these discussions that are going through the same thing I am. I am 23 and I have been overweight for about 7 years. I now have 137 lbs to lose and I can't wait to do it! I have a great support group and I feel so lucky because of that. Thanks for starting a January group!..

I would love to join you guys on this Jan 3 rd start. However, this is a RESTART FOR ME. Last year I lost 30+ pounds on Medifast. Unfortunaty, I gained almost all of it back. I will not get on the scale today. My goal is to REGAIN CONTROL!!!.

MEDIFAST works if you commit and follow it. So, here I am AGAIN..

With your help I hope I can do this and stick to it and MAINTAIN..

GOOD LUCK to you all. I will check in later or tomorrow...

Hello All!.

I'd love to be a part of this group as I RESTART today! I lost about 45lbs on Medifast at this same time LAST year, gained 30 of it back, and am hoping to start again and STICK TO IT this time! I hope I can get your support and lend you some of mine. I have over 100lbs to lose so I plan to stick around awhile..

So far today I've eaten one medifast bar, but I work nights so I plan to still get in my 6 meals. I'm starting to get that "beginner's headache" oh yay! I'll be happy to hit day 3... I actually printed out the daily log and put 7 of them up on my wall. I will take down one each day to help me get to the end of day 7.....

Ill check in later! Can't wait to get to know you all!.

Hi Everyone and Happy New Year,.

I'm recommitting to Medifast today. I started on the plan 8/11/10 and with the exception of a few off days I've been following it pretty well. However I've been off plan for the last 3 days due to NYE. Overall I've lost almost 55lbs and I'm shooting for another 75lbs. Today is the first day of my recommitment and I'm hoping to stay 100% OP now that the Holidays are over..

I would love to be a part of this group so that we can help motivate and support each other. I turn 30 in 2012 and I want to be into T&M with this weight loss issue behind me forever..

TeeTee31.

- I don't have any magical advice or words but I do want to lend my support. Sometimes you have to take it minute by minute, packet by packet and not even look at an entire day. That can be overwhelming at the beginning. Your body is adjusting and detoxing so the side effects may be brutal...just remind yourself that "This too shall pass". Make sure to drink 1/2 your body weight or more a day in water. If you start to feel hungry and it's not time for a meal try some fluids or go occupy yourself.

I hope that helps....also make sure to check in on the boards for inspiration, support, and encouragement..

I just want to say to all the newcomers that this plan is excellent and if you can stick with it even 95% of the time you will see great results. We can do this....2011 is our year for change...

So I sat down yesterday and realized that my total goal of losing 137 lbs is really overwhelming. Instead I've decided to look at in small bits so my first goal is to lose 5% of my total body weight which would be 15lbs. This feels so much more attainable! Today is day 3 for me and so far so good. I'm hungry, but not starving. I've been taking a single dose of Advil every morning to try to avoid any headaches and it seems to be working. For the most part I'm just really tired.

I have a feeling I have another 2-4 days ahead of me like this though before my body really adjusts..

Anyway, I already had a banana pudding for breakfast and I kind of feel like the food is growing on me. Okay in all honesty it's kind of gross but I'll get used to it. I just keep telling myself that it taste skinny!.

I really hope everyone else is doing well in their first few days as well. I really look forward to hearing about your success...

Hi Everyone! I started this program for the First time on yesterday 01/03. My mom has lost 74lbs on Medifast, so I know this program works. I need to lose 156lbs!.

I did real well yesterday staying OP, however, I did feel hungry all day long, but not starving..

I am looking at that hunger feeling now as a sign that this is working. Like when you exercise and you feel the burn..... This is my "burn"..

I had the pancakes this morning for breakfast, and they were not great but very filling. Per my mom's suggestion I added 1/4 cup egg beaters (which I have to take into account when planning my L&G Meal tonight) and 1sp Baking Powder. I also let the batter sit in the fridge for 30minutes before cooking. This helped the batter thicken up, but it gave the pancakes an "eggy" taste. On the bright side, it filled me up..

I look forward to sharing this journey with each of you. It is great to be able to "talk" to people that are at the same stage as I am on this..

Good Luck to you All!!..

Hello all my Medifast Friends..

I am on day 2 of my RESTART. I know Medifast works because I was successful last year. My problem....no being able to keep it off. That is the story of my life..

I have a WICKED HEADACHE and am nauseous..

I can't wait to get this day OVER. Hopefully, my baby will go to sleep eary..

If I remember correctly tomorrow should be the last of the DETOX. I hope so..

Gotta run and help my boys with their homework..

Oh...I am also considering seeing a psychologist to help me find the answer as to WHY I have spent the past 20 years on a diet. UP and down....UP and down. UP and down. UGGGHHHH. It is exasperating!!!!.

Wishing you all a GREAT day. I will check back later or tomorrow..

Hi everyone...I just wanted to start by echoing what Nursgirl stated. We just have to work through the not so great times and we WILL be able to reach our weight loss goals..

Liddell87.

- I agree when I started the idea of trying to lose 130lbs/half of my body weight was scary and seemed pretty much impossible. It's a great idea to break it down into smaller goals and just focus on each individual one. I hope you have some nonfood rewards picked out for yourself as a form of congratulations when you make each milestone..

Boymom2009.

- Sorry to hear you are having a just a terrible detox period. I hope that you start feeling better soon. Just think this time next week you'll be enjoying all the benefits of Medifast and those nasty detox side effects will be a thing of the past..

So far I've been handling my restart pretty well but unfortunately I did something I shouldn't have. I got on the scale today and was HORRIFIED.

I saw a number I didn't think was possible. I mean I'd only been off plan 3 days. I don't think it's possible to gain that much weight in three days...I'm talking double digits here. I knew I should have waited until day 3 or 4 but I couldn't help myself. I'm hoping that most of it is water retention. But either way you look at it I'm preparing for a huge gain at weigh in this week.

I'm keeping my mind occupied and I refuse to get into negative thinking. I can do this...I will lose the weight I gained and I will stick to plan. Well off to cook my L&G..

Have a Happy OP day and Welcome to all the newbies..

I would love to join your group, even though I received my shipment on New Year's Eve. I have known for a long, long time that I am addicted to food. What I have realilzed since I began using Medifast is that food has been a drug to me. I was like someone doing drugs or an alcoholic. I thought about food 24/7 - when I was going to get my next fix and what it would be. Since beginning drinking the shakes and the soup I get so much done at work and at home.

What a revelation!! I was a little afraid of the Lean and Green, but I just push through the anxiety. I went to the store and stored up on lettuce, tomatoes, and Boca Burgers. Not to say that I don't get hungry, but I just tell myself that the next shake or soup will take away my hunger, I hope to get to know all of you and take my journey with all of you..

Thanks!.

The first few days and weeks can be hard, but trust me it does get easier. Keep yourself busy. Don't watch TV if that is a food trigger for you. Play cards. Get to those tasks you've always wanted to do but never had time - sort your sock drawer, organize the garage, etc. Go to bed early..

Mostly, believe in yourself. I did it and so can you!..

I would love to join the group as well...even though I am a bit late here..

I am a recommitting with MF. My first experience with it was back in 2004 when I had just graduated college and had a nasty breakup with my boyfriend which spurred me to lose some weight. I was on it for a little over a month and lost 20ish pounds and then lost my job and couldn't afford it. Over the years I have used Medifast to shave off 20lbs here and there, but life always got complicated and I quit..

However, now I am 30 and started noticing pain in my knees from the weight and carrying my son around. I don't want to have knee problems in the future...and honestly I am tired of avoiding people like the plague because deep down I am so worried they will be whispering about my weight..

So I am doing it! I want to get this fat off me to reveal the pretty girl underneath. I have never met her, but I know she is there and I can't wait to see her...

Day Six has ended for me, and I have to say it is getting a little easier. Yay!!! I am getting really nervous for my Weigh in on Monday though. I SO hope I have lost some. Days 3 and 4 were hard. Day five was better, but today was the first day that I have not felt drained of energy..

I come to this website several times a day, and I get so INSPIRED seeing some of the Success stories and the After Shots of some on here. When I start to get that restless feeling I used to get Pre-MF, you know, that feeling you get before you go to the fridge or pantry and start snacking......... As soon as I feel the first twinge of that restless feeling I come get on line and look through the forums and blogs, and the "After Pics" and get re-motivated. Knowing soon I will be the one posting "after pics"..

Speaking of which, I really need to get my husband to take a before picture of me. A "gasp" full body shot of myself. I really don't want to, but I know if I don't I'll wish I had so that I can have SOMETHING to compare to. I have 156 pounds to lose..... that's a LONG journey. Along the way, after I have lost some, I am still going to be fat.

I plan to take pictures every 10 - 15 pounds. Maybe 20 pounds. I know at first it will take quite a bit of weight to come off to really notice a difference..

Anyway...... I am rambling, and it is way past bedtime. I wish all of you great SUCCESS on this journey to our New healthier lives......

You are braver than I....I did not have anyone else take my beginning pics...I just stood in front of a mirror and took them myself! I should take a restart pic I suppose. Will contemplate that!.

Sundays are usually pretty quiet for me, church, then laundry, then vacuum or other chore and some schoolwork. I find the days when I am home a lot the hardest. My thin husband doesn't really get this whole problem that I have. Sitting in front of me right now is a box of candy that he received as a gift for Christmas from a co-worker. I have asked him several times to put it away but he says he wants to have it handy and just leaves it out. AAHH, he tells me just don't eat any.

Wishing you all a great day. Glad to hear you are feeling better Shuttermom...I am sure you will be pleased by your first weigh in...

Hello, Day 3 here and my first time on Medifast. So far I've done well with the exception of adding more "green" to my last night's lean and green meal than recommended. I am not great with the water consumption so far, only getting down about 30-40 ounces in addition to diet soda (to which I have been fully committed to for many years.

)..

I've been looking through the groups for one that fit me. I believe this New Years group might be the right one..

Does anyone know how to make the choc chip pancakes? Mine turned into a blob this morning...

Good Morning January Starters! So today was my first weigh day and I am so freaking happy! 11.4 lbs in 1 week. It feels so amazing. I feel so amazing. I still haven't taken my before pics and now I wish I had. I did do my measurements though so I will have that to look at when I measure myself next time. I'm only measuring once every 4 weeks.

I hope everyone has had a super successful first week as well. This is my first time on Medifast and I am honestly kicking myself for all the money I've wasted on the other diets I've tried before this. Yes this is kind of spendy, but if it allows me to lose the amazing amount of weight I need to lose then it will be worth every single dime. Thank you all so much for being on here. I can't tell you how much it means to me to have people in the same boat I'm in.

Stay strong you guys and have a great OP week!..

Congrats to you for starting. I have just finished week 9 and I am down 31lbs. It is still really exciting to see the weight come off..

Chocolate pancakes. Tricky. I have found a great way to make them and they come out perfect every time. 1st, get a good non stick pan. I have a Rachel Ray pan with the orange handle, it's the small frypan. I preheat the pan, this seems to be the key.

Anyway, once the pan is hot, pour in the batter, all at once. If you want to use a small amount of butter in the pan you can. Leave the pancake to cook. Then very gently check it by lifting the sides. Once brown, to your liking, use a spatula and flip it over.

It has taken my daughter and I many trials to get the pancakes to come out right. Now we get them right every time and they are fantastic!..

I am day 8! So far, I have stayed OP!! Woohoo!! I'm supposed to weigh in today, but we got Snow yesterday, and it stuck! In Texas when it snows, everything is shut down. People drive like maniacs, and only having one vehicle, we are staying off the roads, so no weigh in for me. (I do not keep a scale here.... I only want to weigh in once a week, and the temptation would be too strong.) So I will have to wait until the roads clear before I can weigh in..

I survived the weekend OP! I was a little worried about it, but I made it. Being snowed in with my husband who has been eating chips....... barbecue meatballs....... chili dogs.....drinking Mikes Hard Lime's.......etc. has been..... tempting.

So while he ate his popcorn yesterday, I grabbed a bag of Honey Mustard Pretzels. They tasted no where near as good, but it helped me to resist the popcorn. It gave me something to munch on, and since it was time for a meal anyway, I wasn't cheating..

I wish all of you the BEST!!! Y'all have really been an inspiration. When I start feeling antsy like I want to snack, I come here instead. Thank you for being here!!..

My mom (who has lost 74 pounds through MF, and now works for MF,) suggested for the pancakes to add 1/4 cup Egg Beater, and a teaspoon of Baking Powder, and then place the batter in the fridge for about 30 minutes before making, otherwise the pancakes are more like crepes. At first I was making it this way, and just accounting for that 1/4 cup when preparing my L&G Meal later that day. After a couple of days I started adding just a splash of Egg Beaters (way less than 1/4 cup). But I have discovered now, if I add the batter to my Waffle Maker instead, I do not need to add anything, and do not need to refrigerate the batter. The waffle comes out great..

Hope this helps!!!..

I know what you mean about being home ALL DAY!! I am a SAHM, so rarely get out of the house. LOL..

Night time was when I always ate my sweet stuff, like Ice Cream, or Cookies, and I find myself hungrier towards the evening. If it weren't for the Shakes, Soft Serves, and puddings, I'm not sure if I could do it. I always eat something sweet like that for my last meal which is when my cravings for something sweet really kick in..

Things are back to normal here, just traces of ice or snow in the shaded parts of lawns and along the roadside. It is harder for me not to be tempted to eat off plan when everyone is home, and because of the weather, it was like an extended weekend. aaaaaaahhhh!!!! LOL..

I wish you a successful OP day today!!..

I would love to join this group as well! This is day 4 for me! I was suprised that I wasn't hungry day on day 1 and 2 but it has crept back day 3 and 4. I am also in do or die mode. I have let my weight take control of my life and I want my life back! I used to be a very social person, now I don't like public settings..I feel like the whale in a sea of guppies...but NO MORE! I realize that I didn't put this weight on in a few months and that it is going to take time for it to come off. I am taking it day by day, putting one foot in front of the other and I know with hard work I can do it. My new philosophy is that I can either eat what I want when I want and have this body, or I can do Medifast and wear the clothes I want to wear and have the nice body I want to have, but I can't have both. It's a choice I make everytime something goes into my mouth..

I am a night eater and last night was pretty tough, but I made it through without a slipup. I stayed up later than normal and wanted to late-night refrigerator raid, but I realized my issue and just went to bed instead. This morning when I woke up I was so proud of myself for not giving in!.

I wish everybody luck in this new process!..

My dh and I started today. I did very well. I was hungry a LOT in between the "meals" but I remember that's how it was for me when I did this two years ago and lost 80 lbs. So I'm back again. HOpefully this time around I'll keep it off and learn what NOT to do so I won't put it back on again...

I had a hard time yesterday getting all my meals in..... I couldn't finish my Lean and Green meal. The bars, I had no problem with finishing, but at the end of the day, I just wasn't hungry. I'm wondering if it was just yesterday, or if I need to re-think my eating schedule right now. I have been spacing morning meals further out, and eating my evening meals closer together, because I found myself struggling with hunger in the evenings.... I try to plan ahead and make sure that I do not run out of meals too early in the day and have to go the rest of the night hungry.....

I'll see how today goes, and if I have the same issue of not really being hungry at "meal time", or not being able to finish my Lean and Green meal, I will re-adjust, and space them all evenly out through out the day...

Hey all,.

The snow and ice and being trapped in the house ended up doing me in. Still I did lose 2 pounds last week. I never did get into ketosis though. I am restarting today and have made it through till lunch!! I am planning another meal around 4 pm. I will stay OP today and then wake up tomorrow and plan my day so that it will be on track as well..

I hope everyone is having a great week..

AlucasI am so impressed with your great loss!! Do not focus on how far you have to go...just take it one small goal at a time. You are so close to 20 pounds lost how awesome is that?? !!..

Hi all!! Made it through yesterday and so far so good for today. I am starting to feel a bit "bleh" so I am hoping that is the detox effect kicking in!.

I just opened up a box of the new version of the honey mustard pretzels...phoeey!! They are nowhere near as good as the old version. I LOVED those, these I won't bother to buy again..

I hope you are all having a great day!..

I know what you mean with the pretzels. It is still nice to have something to "crunch on". The pancakes are heavenly. If I could walk around with a skillet all day, I would eat them for every meal...

LOL....... Thanks!.

I lost 2 pounds.

I'm really hoping I have some water retention going on, and will have a great weigh in next week. But I really have no room for complaints. I'm on my period, and I still lost!! I don't think I have ever been able to do that. LOL. Chocolate was always my drug of choice when TOM visited..

You all can do this .I started jan.10 2011 I have started on my 2nd week .and I go out to eat with my husband I take a shake or a bar with me and that is what I have. I just tell my self I could have what hes eating if I want to stay fat or eat my bar and lose the fat and you know what I lost 15.5 lbs. my first week. and that makes me know I can do this .so this 2nd. week should be easy drink plenty of water and if you get to hungry try eating every 2-3 hours. I will check in tommorrow.good luck to you all. peaches..

My TOM came last week and I was so worried about it! I lost as well and was super excited. I always have food cravings, too, during mine. I found that the best to satisfy this was the Chocolate Crunch Bars. I feel like they taste the most "real" like you're kind of indulging without the "fake" taste. Maybe try it next time! Congrats on the loss!..

Good Morning everyone!!.

I hope everyone has had a great OP week so far! I'm at a point now, where I really don't feel like I'm dieting. I'm used to eating bars, shakes, Medifast pancakes, and L&G meals now. I'm really surprised. I thought I would be bombarded with temptations and cravings, but I really haven't. And I haven't felt deprived which I usually always do when dieting... There have only been small moments where something smelled really good and my mouth watered a little.

But even during those moments, my desire to lose weight far outweighed any desire I had to eat off plan, so it wasn't hard to resist..

This is the first time I have really believed in myself........ believed that this is something I can accomplish..

Jomarie, I think I'm lucky that I never got to taste the old pretzels. I have heard so many disappointed MFers say that the new ones are awful in comparison. I had nothing to compare them to, so I'm satisfied with the new ones. Do you think you may get used to them? It's nice to have the variety! Do you like the cheesepuffs? I think they're pretty good and they're are a lot in one bag...

Hi Athena, I do like the cheesepuffs and I had those today. Sadly I ordered 5 boxes of the new pretzels since I did not realize they had changed...I am either gonna get used to them or find another way to crush them up and use them!!.

I have had a good day so far today. Was REALLY hungry so I ended up having another meal...figure 6 and 1 is better than falling apart!.

Have a good night all!..

Happy weekend everyone!.

I hope you are having a good morning. I have had a good day so far!! grin. Looking forward to my WI tomorrow. I am a daily weigher so I have been watching my weight bob up and down all week but even the highest number is below last Sunday's weight!.

Sadly I counted up my food boxes and realized I had purchased 7 boxes of the new pretzels...sigh! Definitely going to see if they make good breading for some chicken strips!.

Has anyone tried the Kale chips? I read about them on a post, basically Kale leaves are baked until crunchy. Sounds interesting, so I might try that..

How about a question for the weekend....What is your favorite Lean and Green? I am looking for new ideas. This week has mostly been an open a can of Tuna week for me and I am bored!.

My husband is a super picky (skinny) eater and so I am still cooking him his steak and fries, burgers and fries, tuna noodle casserole, fried pork chops and macaroni and cheese ...most of what he will eat I should not be eating ...then I am too tired to make anything for me. I have tried to get home from work before 6 most nights but by the time I get all his food going I am in no mood to do anything at all complicated for me. I am wondering if anyone has recipes that they make ahead on Sunday and then divide up for later in the week.???.

So have a good morning. I will check in later...

Hi Jomarie!.

I have two favorite Lean and Green Meal Options so far. This is my most favorite:.

3 cans of Chicken Breast.

1pkg Taco Seasoning.

Heat Canned Chicken Breast in a skillet and add taco seasoning according to package directions. My kids and husband make Chicken Soft Tacos, and I add my chicken to a salad for a "Taco Salad". I save the leftovers and I have just have to add it to a salad for my Lean and Green Meal..

My next favorite is the Eggbeaters. I eat one cup in the morning and the other cup in the evening. I sautee Baby Spinach in a small saucepan, and then add the Egg Beaters. YUMMY!.

I keep forgetting to post my updates (I'm not very good at posting, although I read everyone else's updates!).

I weighed in this weekend for my week 3 weigh in. 255.8. Down from 275 just 3 weeks ago..

I'm very happy!.

On the topic of lean and greens, one of my favorites is just a nice green salad with my lean on top. Im amazed at how different I can make it each night. (chicken, salmon, tuna, ground turkey)..

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend OP..

Hey girls, I started Medifast on Jan 3rd, but just joined this website tonight. I have lost 15 lbs as off this morning. My official weigh in day is Monday, but I usually weigh in on Thursdays as well. I am loving the program so far, and I have learned so much more tonight on this website. There were some things I was eating that I should not have been. Didn't realize it until tonight.

I look forward to keeping up with everyone on this thread!..

Hi everyone- I started January 3 as well- and my weigh-in day is Monday too. So far I am loving the Medifast plan. No I don't love all the foods- but if I was eating all the foods I love, I wouldn't be down 18 pounds. I'm making the best of it! I too love green salads and have one almost daily for my L and G meal- with raspberry vinagrette- mmmmm good! I hope we can all support one another and learn from each post...

Hello all!!.

My laptop contracted a virus so I have not been around for a while. Luckily Hubby was able to save MOST of out things..

This week has not gone as well as last ...I start feeling like "Why can't I have a piece of.... " and then I go ahead and pick up whatever it is. So I messed up two days in a row W and TH but I got back on track yesterday and today is going well so far. Entered my food in the food log ...so that should help me not to go too crazy here at home..

My weigh in is on Sunday...I hope I won't gain after my mess up...But if I do ...I will let it go and just have a good Sunday and Monday and I am sure it will be gone by mid week!.

Have a great day...

Hi everyone- hope you are having a great week. I had my weigh-in today and was delighted to lose 4.7 pounds- guess that makes up for thre small loss last week. A couple of challenges this week- one was eating out with friends at The Cheesecake Factory! Now if there is one food I love above all others it is cheesecake- but I was able to resist! I had grilled chicken with tomatoes and argurla- and it was so good. By the time I ate half of it I was full! Sure is a great feeling when you are able to stay on plan!.

W@ishing you all the best this week- onward and downward!! Susan..

Hang in Duchess- a lot of us have a long long journey ahead of us- one day at a time! When we think about how far we have to go, the journey seems like it will never end. But if we can set small goals, and celebrate the accomplishment when we reach them, it seems much more "do-able"! This week I have reached my first goal- to lose 10% of my starting weight. I'm so happy to have reached that milestone- now on to the next 10%. I wish you all the sucesses in the world. Susan..
