First off, Does "SmartBurn" with Medifast really work? Looking forward for any answer. Another question I got... Here we sit at 5:05am. Our faithful friend and pet, Duncan, is literaly on his last legs. After 'recovering' from blown ACL in Nov, his hindquartes collapsed yeaterday, and it is impossible to move hime..

He struggles constantly to get up and move, trying to get away from the pain. His meds aren't working DW and DS are about to load him into the station wagon, for a last ride to the vet..

He's been a great dog. I will post a pic......

The answer is Yes, but you might want to make sure and wait for another member to confirm my answer as I am not sure. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Medifast guys because they can answer you better...

Oh RD, My prayers are with you,I too understand this pain, the loss of the perfect friend who loves you unconditional all the time, all they want is love. It has been 4 years since Otis Yellowbone left me and about 10 since Tender Graceland left me to go dogie heaven. Daily I think of them , The good thing is now there is Sissi and Jake to help in my healing, I know it is hard to let go of someone who does not care what we look like or how much we weigh. I be be praying for you and your family...

My sympathy to you. It is so painful to lose a pet and make the decision for that "last ride in the car". It has to be done and I've done it too many times myself. In the end though, you know that all the love and friendship your animal has provided you over the years - you just have to do this for them and be with them to the end. I.

Hope.

Your pet goes easy and you will not be in too much pain from your loss...

I can't do that, my dogs have to die here at home because I bury them all together. And one day after Jesus blows this place up, I'm gonna come back and get them. All of them, and we will live forever..

Just ask He'll do it..

Lu.

So sorry RD my thoughts are with you!..

Sorry you have had to come to this time now. It is not an easy decision. I know very well. Yet you can't see him go on suffering like thisI had a border Collie I took three times to vet for the same reason but the vet thought he would still be ok for a while. The last time became even more apparent was when Max couldn't even get to standup to eat his food. We brought a paperplate with his Medifast food on it and he laid there trying to eat lying down.

You are being kind to your best friend-may you find peace too. God Bless..

Man, that is just the worst. It is so hard to see a pet in pain and to have to let them go. Ultimately, it's the kindest approach, but that doesn't make it easy. So sorry you have to deal with this...

Wife and I don't process the same. grief or anything...lol I go out for the new dog, spend a bunch of money, and she sneaks off to the BR to cry..

We had a tete a' tete tonight, when she got to see where the grief takes me, if I do it her way. It wasn't pretty. The same empty keening (howling) that knows no pit....

It's all or nothing with me..she understands now that it's not that I don't love, but I love too much to stop and grieve, collapsing in a puddle of my own tears...NOT to say I am in denial, it is a decision I make to survive....

Animals are so deeply ingrained in a pet family...But you also have to process a lot of grief. It is a charge that sneaks up on you...and demands to be paid!.

"Rico Suave" is my little man, such a promise of the future. I actually found myself on the floor, playing!..

Oh Rd, I am so sorry. Losing a dog is about the most difficult thing you can go through. I like Lu's plan. Although my doggies and kitties aren't all buried together I plan to be with them all again someday. Just thinking about this has me in tears missing my babies that have gone over the rainbow bridge..

Here is a wonderful version of the Rainbow Bridge poem set to.

Music.

You will when you see this..

You will be in my prayers RD..

My wife and son can't do the burial thing, so I respected their wishes. It cost $300 to retrieve the ashes, but my son said he would pay for it...it meant that much to him, so I offered to split it..

We have a garden at the bottom of the property, where we have naturalized growth and azaleas, that is "Fred's Garden," named after a beautiful late dog that died sudddenly..

We all feel terribly, but Rico is quickly demanding affection and getting it....that's the way it should be IMHO.....

Rick - My heart & prayers goes out to you and your family. I have had to deal with this twice and back in May I found my Jack dead next to my slippers one morning. I still haven't recoverred from his death for it was so sudden and with no warning..

I am such a critter lover (fuzzy, feather & wet) myself - they are all so much a part of our family - for they are family mebers as much as my hubby & kids who swear I love critters more than them..

We're here for you anytime...

I cried more for my dog (16 year old Beagle) when we had to put him down that I have for any human. Of course, I didn't have to make the decision to put down a human. Anyway, I swore off animals because I couldn't stand the pain of losing them. Then my kids got dogs - they're mine now and I'm not giving them back. My daughter moved out and I was happy to keep Mowgli! Enjoy Rico!..
