First question I have is Does the 7 Day Nutrisystem diet work? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another question on my mind: Hi everyone another newbie here. I guess I will start with a brief history. I have been overweight since I was 3. I was always consitantly about 30% above where I should be until I hit my 20's. I hit my highest weight of 334 last year and went on a low cal/low fat diet and dropped about 30.

I can typically loose 15-20 pounds in the first week which is generally water weight I know and then it slows and I get bored. I started lurking on these boards about a week ago as I am ready to do something long term and found that there can be a lot of support and people are all generally have simillar goals of improving their health. I went on Craigslist and found a 4 week supply for $75 but it is light on the lunches. I am going to be placing an order in the next day or so as I want to make sure I am getting fresher food. I know the package I bought is about a year old (packing slips are still in the boxes).

Is the only way to order a la carte to order directly? Thanks for letting me ramble...

Welcome, kjgodin! I have been through similar problems with several different diets in my life. I, too, have been overweight .. no.. obese.. my entire life and finally realized I need to do something more for the long term instead of looking for quick fixes. I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey!.

Oh.. drink TONS of water each day (a MINIMUM of 8-10, 8oz glasses per day)..

Welcome to the Men's Room..

I recommend you go ahead and order the 28 day program for men. At your current weight you will probably need several months of being on-plan to meet your goals..

My story is very similar to yours, very similar to most of the folks in here. When you see how well this works you'll be hooked like the rest of us..

If you do choose to order the 28 day program send me your e-mail address via private message by clicking my name above my avatar and I can save you $30 off your 1st order...

Kevin, One way to supplement your lunch foods is to look at EBAY. If you search Nutrisystem there is generally lots of auctions for lunch items, most are now Nutrisystem Advanced (the current food program). I do agree with the other guys, get the autoship for a couple of months and personalize your order. You will get some good info with the first ship, your shipment should be free and on some programs you get a free week of food with each of your first three shipments. Once you have the routine, then it is easier to branch out and get your food from other sources (Ebay, Criagslist, Big Lots, etc.) Best of Luck. JT..

Kevin, If there is a "big lots" store in your area, they sell N.S. foods, although not much of a variety, they ususally have a lot of lunches...

Hey Kevin,.

I'm a newbie too. I'm waiting for my first shipment to arrive. Once I get it I'll probably begin on Sunday..

I've had a weight problem for as long as I can remember. I've allowed my weight to climb steadily up to 282. Actually, this is my second go around with NS. A couple of years ago I was on Nutrisystem for a few months. I had to quite because some of the meals were terrible. It sounds like that food has become better, so I'm giving Nutrisystem a second go around..

Good Luck!.

Doug..

Kevin, Nudoug.

Start now drinking the water, this will begin the clensing and hydration process. Someone posted a link to an article a while back that explains how important water is to breaking down fat.here is a link to the article out on the internet..

So funny. I think the same thing about running up to people. however, I am very reserved when people actually question me about what I have been doing because I don't want to sound like a spokesperson!! this program works and you don't have to be miserable to lose weight. best part is still these boards...

My food arrived today. I'll be starting Sunday. Good God, I never saw so much food in one box in my whole life. I hope that I can resist temptation and not dig into a package or two snacks...

My back went out after retrieving our first shipments (wife and I are doing it together) with the free week's food in them. To make room for them, we got rid of ALL the food in our pantry closet (lifting.

Those.

Boxes did not help either)..

Welcome to the program, and like the others have said, it really does work. As you get familiar with what foods you like, you'll be able to get stuff you really look forward to eating..

Kevin,.

I supplement my lunches with Zone protein bars but you have to take care to align the calories and protein content with the NS. You can find the nutrition for each Nutrisystem item by clicking on the link on your online order..

Good luck! This system is working for me...

Hi All.

Well add one more newbie... I had to do something I was so tired of not being able to walk up the steps without getting out of breath and as I have regular physicals I know it is not health other than weight... so I just started Monday the 4th. I do have a question about water amounts.. I tried WW before and had success but there diet free soda, coffee etc counted as my water amount I can't seem to find anything that tells me ya or na So the question is do these count and more importantly where can I find answers to questions like this..

Last question ... I miss my wine... is a glass permitted?..

First of all, welcome to the men's room..

Secondly, you really should try to drink water. Caffeine is a diuretic and most sodas have sodium that will make you retain more fluid than you should..

As for the wine, that's totally up to you. You just won't show progress as quickly while your are drinking alcohol. Your body just doesn't know what to do with those calories since they are not carbs, protein or fat, so once you drink it your body focuses on getting rid of those calories and nothing else..

I like my wine/beer/alcohol as much as anybody (probably more than most) but I did completely without it for the first three months I was on the program. You do what works best for you...

First off, Welcome JohnB. I say no on the wine only because it will slow or stop the weight loss engine. You can't pour sugar in the tank and expect it to run right..

Now for water. Drink a gallon a day. Nutrisystem recommends 64oz. I don't think that's high enough. The only thing that counts as water other than water is decaf tea, decaf coffee and crystal lite flavor pack thingies you add to water. I have 28 Aquafina quart size bottles I refill once a week using my Brita filter on my faucet.

YMMV..
