Got a question, hope someone can answer... Food Medifast recipes that are 100 years old or before the 1900's? Many thanks for any answer. Another question... Hi, I had.

Lap band.

Surgery.

On 11/16. I suppose I feel pretty good considering. I went to work for a few hours today and did some shopping. Having shoulder pain and gut is still sore. Been having minor fevers at night. I freak out every now and then when I realize that I won't be able to eat.

It sounds like it is pretty normal to have some concerns after.

Surgery.

I guess what I really want to know is does life ever return to normal. Are you able to go out to dinner, or have dinner at home and eat some what normally? I know portions will be small, but if friends invite you over is there something that you'll be able to eat..

Anyone have concerns with all of the protein shakes we eat? Other chemicals, additives?.

Is everyone taking a B12 pill?.

So many questions..

Thanks and I'm glad to be part of your group...

I had gastric bypass this past monday....... so I have more knowlede on that.

Surgery.

BUT I did.

Research.

Lap band.

A TON before making my decision, I also know a few people who had the.

Lap band.

Done........

Yes you eventually do eat "normal again". BUT heres the thing......once you loose the weight, if you start eating bad again the weight WILL come back on and Ive unfortunately seen that happen to someone I know. But listen, everyone is different. IF you treat Medifast food like my co-worker you will keep it off.... her and I always talk about how we have changed our minds from 'living to eat" to "eating to live".....once you change your mindset life will become slightly easier.......and one thing I know I'm doing is STAYING FARRRR from the kitchen. I do not even want to be tempted or have myself feeling sad because I cant eat a certain food.

Surgery.

And trust me you will succeed!!!.

As for the shakes I am doing the ATKINS.....they taste good and last forever lol especially since I drink 2 ounces at a time.....and I never gave a thought to the extra chemicals in the drinks.... I am sure my nutritionist wouldnt recommend certain products if she knew they were no good int he long run....shes been working with bariatric.

Surgery.

Patients for over 15 years now..

I havent started my B-12 pills yet. With Gastric our bodies still have a month supply of all the vitamins and minerals in our system so the doc said to wait a week or so then try to introduce the different pills into my system........not at first though because he finds most peole have a hard time with taste.nausea.vomiting if you do it at first and it's OK not to. BUT it is crucual once 3-4 weeks post op.....

WELL missy I am glad you joined the group....and I am excited for you to find out just how lucky you will feel knowing you found a GREAT support group.......u will find you will NOT be judged rather accepted and any questions/concerns/comments/ etc will be addressed and the overwhelming support makes you feel so good!!!!!!!!!!!.

Good luck and keep in touch!..

Welcome loveswaves. You will love this group. Everyone is wonderful..

I wanted to caution you to stay aware of your shoulder pain. Pain in the right shoulder can be from gallbladder issues. So if it gets really bad you may want to talk to your doc about that possibility. One third of WLS patients end up having to have their gallbladder removed..

Also, about the protein shakes and chemicals/additives. Talk to doubleb (.

He doesn't do any of that. He eats/drinks mostly live fresh foods and juices and gets in all his protein, vitamins, and minerals that way..

Also, here is a link to an article that talks about finding good, safe, protein powders that don't have high levels of dangerous heavy metals, chemicals, and additives, etc..

It starts out.

Talking.

About the benefits of whey protein for high blood pressure but keep.

Reading.

Because it continues with much more info including how to pick a good powder..

Here is link that has info on some powders that are not safe according their high levels of arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury..

..

About the B-12, I think some people do pills, some sublingual and some do monthly B-12 injections..

Hope.

That helps and.

Hope.

You enjoy the group..

Welcome to the group! Congrats on your.

Surgery.

I had laparoscopic gastric bypass last year and am sensitive to certain sugar alcohols, but that's about it..

Yes, life does return to normal, you just.

Eat less.

Than you did before. :).

I take 2 B12 sublingual every day, and do a B12 shot each month. Probably overkill, but I have a ton of energy!.
