Want the latest Medifast Coupons?

Just enter your email address below and we'll send you secret Medifast deals every month.

My first question is Has any of you tried Medifast for weight loss? Looking forward for any answer or 2. 2nd question I got is.. HELLO RED HOTS!.

How is your motivation? One of the best ways to maintain motivation in any aspect of life is to have measurable goals. I am hoping each of you (who are willing.

) will take a moment and write out some short term measurable goals for during this challenge..

Then, when temptation rears it's head, pull out the list and ask yourself if eating off plan will get you what you want. Also, as a team, we can keep each other accountable to our goals if wanted; ask about how it is going, encouragement....

Kristi's short term goals:.

1. Exercise at least 5 days a week for at least 40 min..

2. Be able to run on the treadmill for 5 minutes by the end of this challenge..

3. Lose at least 10 lbs. by the end of this challenge..

4. Get into size 16 jeans..

5. Give my body one postive affirmation/day..

Hi All.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween and met your personal goals for how to handle the over abundance of sweets on this day...

I have a challenge for all of you that comes with one of my goals.. Today we set the clocks back an hour and I found myself up extra early on a Sunday morning. One of my goals is to exercise first thing each morning so I get it out of the way and the flow of the day does not distact or throw my exercise plans off course..I find that after exercise I am less likely to give in to temptations... So my plan is to continue to get up at the same time I have before the time change which means one hour early and use that time to get in my exercise.. Anyone want to try it with me?.

My goals:.

1) exercise everyday ( with at least 4 of them before I go to work each week).

2) to lose weight consistantly each week.

3) to get into size 12 pants before the new year.

4) to be a better planner for days when an event happen (party, game, out of routine days).

5) to find better ways to handle the triggers that lead me to eat off plan.

Have a great day everyone.. So far I have had a great football weekend. The high school team I support and the Cal Bears both won yesterday.. so now it is up to the 49ers to make it a perfect football weekend....

Good afternoon ladies.

It's another homebound weekend for me......Jessica just is not shaking this cold and I can't bring her around my mom when they are sick - my mom cannot afford to get sick with her respiratory issues - would not be good. It really stinks because I have not seen her since my Aunt's funeral. We chat but it's not the same and I miss her!.

Ah well - tomorrow is weigh in for me so....we'll see how week 1 went!..

Hi All,.

I had a +2.6 gain this week as TOM hit at the end of last week. Actually the scale tips 4-5lbshoping to see a big loss next week. I am running out of product but cannot put an order in until Friday and I have a board meeting all weekend (still counting on a loss)..

Any suggestions to get me through breakfast and lunch (btw I hate oatmeal). When I was off plan the past 2 months I gained about 2.2lbs. I am not worried about portions/weight gain but wonder should I follow Medifast or supplement with slim fast products..

Some short term goals for me:.

1) Finish the year strong as I beganlose 15lbs by December 31, 2009..

2) Exercise at least 45 minutes for 5 days.

3) Drink at least 96oz or more of water each day...

I hope you all survived the Halloween weekend. Candy is not one of my triggers so I had no problem. We live out in the country, near the woods on a very dark street so we never have trick or treaters. Therefore, we don't buy treats & we never get tricked. Besides, our resident WITCH, (ME) could scare any of the ghosts & goblins away. Hope the scale was kind to you.

So I am on my weigh to post my stats, but before I go I am sending you your Monday.

You'll do, say and act your best when you feel your best. Feel the limitless wonder of this very moment..

Lopez - sorry you are having a down day. When the scale doesn't cooperate, it can be frustrating. Hang in there and I bet you will see a big change this week..

Allie - I have heard that some of the low carb bars and shakes can make do in a crunch. I don't think they are as nutritionally complete and have as much protein, but you could look up the Medifast nutrition info and comparison shop until you get your order. Good luck!.

Nich - 6 lbs! That is awesome!.

Good Morning Red Hots!!!.

- When I am low on product, I will follow the atkins diet because you stay in ketosis which is the fat burning process that you are in while on MF. So, lots of veggies and protein, and no carbs. What area do you live in Allie?.

- Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well today. You have had a terrible few weeks with your kiddo's being ill and all. Keep your chin up!.

Gotta run to the gym, and them I'm meeting up with a few clients today. I will be back to post later.

- Keep your head in the game. This journey that we are on is all mental. When we are stressed, we want to eat off plan, but we can change the way we think. Instead of stressing and eating off plan, eat something healthy. Go make yourself a shake and mix a little sugar free syrup into it or spoon in some coffee to make your shake a bit special..

You really.

Do this, just focus on your long term goals..

I have been on Medifast a long time & I know what goals to set for myself in my journal, but because I am a die-hard.

I will share 3 of my goals for this challenge. I know better than to set unattainable goals for myself. It is hard teaching an old dog new tricks, but it can be done with much patience & intestinal fortitude (AKA "GUTS)..

1) Get to.

By challenge's end. (As of this a.m. only 13 lbs to go).

2) Stay.

3) Cheer my teammates & be here for them..

I took a peak at the weigh-in thread..

Such great work ladies. I am proud of you all for hanging in there..

Did any body catch GMA this a.m? A radio show had a water drinking contest, challenging people to drink LOTS of water. Some nurses called in & said it was dangerous to drink TOO MUCH water. Anyhow, one lady drank 3 gallons within 2 hours, never going to the bathroom & she got really sick. They took her to the hospital where she died from water intoxication..

I once drank 256 oz in a day, but was constantly in the bathroom. I never did it again. My maximum now is 160 oz which translates to 20 (8 oz) glasses, more than half my body wt in oounces..

Well, that is my post for today. Hang tough, stay strong, & work the program. God bless & major {{{HUGS}}} to all the.

Blanche - I heard that as well - how terrible...I don't know how anyone could drink even half that much and not visit the restroom! As it is I usually end up somewhere around 80 - 120 oz during the day. That's it - I have to slow down around 4pm or I will be up all night and I am SO NOT a night owl!!.

That being said - I have my 80 oz in already!..

Some short term goal for me:.

Exercise atleast 4 days a week....

Drink atleast 80 oz of water a day.

Fit into my size 11 black pants ( havent fit into these since 2007).

Overall my goal is to become a healthier person. To be conscious of what I am eating and what the consequences will be. To exercise and enjoy it..And more importantly to continue these habits after I reach my goal weight..

Lopez- issues with dh are hard.. Just know we are all here for you....

Maria O. Good job on staying op in NYC...

Allie_ I agree with Nich- try to stay as close to op as you can.. eat no carb, lots of veggies and low fat protein... hard boiled eggs, turkey slices, and stick to your eating schedule of 6 small meals a day.. that way you won't have to retrain your body much when the product comes in.. I found the biggest loser protien powder in my water helps when I got out of product one time... Be careful as lots of bars have lots of calories..

I have to say I did not meet one of my exercise goals this morning.. I walked almost 1 and 1/2 last night and got home about 11 pm.. did lots of hills, and was so tired I used the extra hour to sleep...Now that means in order to meet my goal this week I have to get up early early the next four days....

Well back to work....

Hey Reds,.

I hope everyone is doing well... for those who arent you are in my thoughts!.

Everyone has some really great goals!.

Ok I am so excited I have to share my lean and green with you all... I decided to try lettuce wraps (bear in mind I am not a cook). This morning I sauteed mushrooms, red peppers, tomatoes and a cucumber using water only.. it works quite well. I added my already cooked ground turkey and chopped off the edge of a lettuce head. I feel so incredibly satisfied! I was good and filling and I didnt even add salt at anytime.

I am on my dinner break at work. Still having trouble with others here. Trying to let it go and have a good day anyways... besides I am at my LOWEST WEIGHT EVER!!!! Well since I was 12. I averaged 300 lbs in high school so to say I weigh 183 is tiny! I started pilates today because the one thing I have heard from people who have reached goal is that they wish they would have started firming up sooner so after my walk I began firming up. hehe.

Have a great evening reds!..

Blanche- I know what you mean about the trick or treaters. It was nice for me since we live out and the houses are really spread out that we have never had any kids. I was gone this weekend and I knew I could go and not have to worry about the trickers. It was nice though to have no excuse to buy candy..

Lopez - I hope things get better with dh..

Blanche - Thanks for the DM..

Hope all the rest of you had a great OP day. I had a good day, but went into autopilot at dinner and fixed my taco salad with cheese! I went "oh dang it!" and dh gave me a new bowl and told me to fix a new salad so I wouldn't have any BLT's. My ds ate mom's mistake for 2nds..

I need to run and sing the ants go marching for dd. She loves that song. Last night she fell asleep before I could sing to her, so at 2am she comes into my room crying because I didn't sing to her. Hi All-.

Congrats Olivia on being our Biggest Loser..

I am your Tuesday Exercise Gal.... So let's start exercising together... I hope you are all still walking every day....

So lets start working on building muscle and tightening flabby skin. First thing upon waking, do push ups and crunches.... If you can, do as many regular military push ups you can, if you can't do those (I can't yet) do the modified girl kind, if you can't do those do them standing next to the wall... then do as many crunches as you can...both of these should only take 5 minutes or less....

Tomorrw we will do them again and then again...next week we will see how many more you can do after the first day.. Keep track of your starting number (don't need to share unless you want to) and next week we will see how many more we can do after one week..

Here is some reasons to exercise from an article in the NYTIMES..

-When you diet without exercising, you lose both muscle and fat, which is counterproductive because muscle loss significantly lowers your basic metabolic rate, the number of calories your body uses at rest..

-Many people find that a vigorous workout before lunch or dinner diminishes their appetite and reduces their overall caloric intake, adding to the weight loss resulting from the exercise itself..

-With greater muscle mass, your basic metabolic rate will rise and you will burn more calories all day and night. And since muscle holds less water and takes up less room than the equivalent weight of fat, by shedding fat and gaining muscle you can lose inches and sizes without losing actual pounds on the scale..

So REDS lets get moving.....

Hi all!.

I've been MIA lately. October was a HORRIBLE month. My husband and I opened our own business in April and October was incredibly sloooow. It was incredibly stressful. I don't drink much, I don't smoke, I don't take drugs, but I do eat when I'm stressed - which is what I did most of the month. Luckily, I'm only up about a pound from my lowest.

Gail - Thanks for the shout out about my water. Still struggling with that. I'm a diet pepsi addict. I did drink all of my water yesterday, but I had to add some Crystal Light to it..

Jaz - I'm so excited for you to be at your lowest! In high school I actually weighed about 135 pounds (I'm 5'6") and thought I was a cow. I'd actually love to be that "cow" again. Its so sad what perceptions girls have about their own bodies..

Nich - congrats on the big loss - I know things were rough for a while..

Olivia - congrats on the banner. Its too cute!.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm off to bed...

Morning Hotties.

Ok laidies - it's your Wednesday cheerleader reporting for duty!!.

Topic today is WATER. A lot of us struggle to get in the minimum amount of water each day. Let's share our water sercets today!.

I used to drink nothing But diet sprite/sierra mist/7-up. The thought of drinking that much water made my stomach roll! First, I started with substituting 1/3 of my soda w/water - then 1/2 - then 3/4. Now, I may drink 1 can of diet soda per day. What I didn't realize was how bloated I was from all the carbonation. I'm convinced what makes the water go down for me is the 32oz cup with a straw in it. For some crazy reason - sipping through the straw makes it soooo much easier!!.

So my Red Hots - Drink, Drink, Drink up your water!!.

Have a superb day all...

Sorry I have really been MIA. Over the weekend I went to the NASCAR race at Talledega. Driving from Ohio to Alabama on Friday and back on Monday. While there I managed to eat OP, but had some adult beverages... that are not OP. I reported a loss of 2.2, so I am happy about that!.

I reached my healthy BMI last week and that was a mini goal for me!.

I also drink my water out of a water bottle with a straw, it goes down easier!.

Sorry I have missed so much, other than my work going crazy right now, I should be in better contact with you!.

Ok - for us soda drinkers - I came across this article to share. It's long but worth the read...makes you think twice!.

Soda, pop, cola, soft drink whatever you call it, it is one of the worst.

Beverages that you could be drinking for your health. As the debate for whether.

To put a tax on the sale of soft drinks continues, you should know how they.

Affect your body so that you can make an informed choice on your own..

Soft drinks are hard on your health.

Soft drinks contain little to no vitamins or other essential nutrients. However,.

It is what they do contain that is the problem: caffeine, carbonation, simple.

Sugars or worse, sugar substitutes and often food additives such as.

Artificial coloring, flavoring, and preservatives..

A lot of research has found that consumption of soft drinks in high quantity,.

Especially by children, is responsible for many health problems that include.

Tooth decay, nutritional depletion, obesity, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease..

Why the sugar in soft drinks isn't so sweet.

Most soft drinks contain a high amount of simple sugars. The USDA recommendation.

Of sugar consumption for a 2,000-calorie diet is a daily allotment of 10.

Teaspoons of added sugars. Many soft drinks contain more than this amount!.

Just why is too much sugar so unhealthy? Well, to start, let's talk about what.

Happens to you as sugar enters your body. When you drink sodas that are packed.

With simple sugars, the pancreas is called upon to produce and release insulin,.

A hormone that empties the sugar in your blood stream into all the tissues and.

Cells for usage. The result of overindulging in simple sugar is raised insulin.

Levels. Raised blood insulin levels beyond the norm can lead to depression of.

The immune system, which in turn weakens your ability to fight disease..

Something else to consider is that most of the excess sugar ends up being stored.

As fat in your body, which results in weight gain and elevates risk for heart.

Disease and cancer. One study found that when subjects were given refined sugar,.

Their white blood cell count decreased significantly for several hours.

Afterwards. Another study discovered that rats fed a high-sugar diet had a.

Substantially elevated rate of breast cancer when compared to rats on a regular.

The health effects of diet soda.

You may come to the conclusion that diet or sugar-free soda is a better choice..

However, one study discovered that drinking one or more soft drinks a day and.

It didn't matter whether it was diet or regular led to a 30% greater chance of.

Weight gain around the belly..

Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, or.

Saccharin. These artificial sweeteners pose a threat to your health. Saccharin,.

For instance, has been found to be carcinogenic, and studies have found that it.

Produced bladder cancer in rats..

Aspartame, commonly known as nutrasweet, is a chemical that stimulates the brain.

To think the food is sweet. It breaks down into acpartic acid, phenylalanine,.

And methanol at a temperature of 86 degrees. (Remember, your stomach is.

Somewhere around 98 degrees.) An article put out by the University of Texas.

Found that aspartame has been linked to obesity. The process of stimulating the.

Brain causes more cravings for sweets and leads to carbohydrate loading..

Carbonation depletes calcium.

Beverages with bubbles contain phosphoric acid, which can severely deplete the.

Blood calcium levels; calcium is a key component of the bone matrix. With less.

Concentration of calcium over a long time, it can lower deposition rates so that.

Bone mass and density suffer. This means that drinking sodas and carbonated.

Water increases your risk of osteoporosis..

Add in the caffeine usually present in soft drinks, and you are in for even more.

Trouble. Caffeine can deplete the body's calcium, in addition to stimulating.

Your central nervous system and contributing to stress, a racing mind, and.

Skip the soda and go for:.

Fresh water.

Water is a vital beverage for good health. Each and every cell needs water to.

Perform it's essential functions. Since studies show that tap water is filled.

With contaminants, antibiotics, and a number of other unhealthy substances,.

Consider investing in a quality carbon-based filter for your tap water. To find.

Out more about a high-performance filtration system, click here..

On the go? Try using a stainless steel thermos or glass bottle, filled with.

Filtered water. Enhance the flavor of your water with a refreshing infusion of.

Basil, mint leaves, and a drop of honey..

Fruit Juice.

If you are a juice drinker, try watering down your juice to cut back on the.

Sugar content. Buy a jar of organic 100% juice, especially cranberry, acai,.

Pomegranate, and then dilute three parts filtered water to one part juice. You.

Will get a subtle sweet taste and the benefit of antioxidants. After a couple of.

Weeks, you will no longer miss the sweetness of sugary concentrated juices..

Tea gently lifts your energy and has numerous health benefits. Black, green,.

White, and oolong teas all contain antioxidant polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks.

As high or higher than many fruits and vegetables on the ORAC scale, the score.

That measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods..

Herbal tea does not have the same antioxidant properties, though it is still a.

Great beverage choice with other health benefits, such as inducing calming and.

Relaxing effects..

If tea doesn't satisfy your sweet tooth, try adding cinnamon or a little honey,.

Which has important health benefits that refined sugar lacks. For a selection of.

Healthy teas that promote total body wellness, click here. Drink up!.

I hope you find the ways and means to avoid soft drinks. I invite you to visit.

Often and share your own personal health and longevity tips with me..

Good Afternoon Reds!.

I hope you are all having a good day OP/OW/OE! I finally broke the 50 lbs mark this morning and am starring down the teens..

This week has been going well even with my DH being gone on business..

Gail - thanks for the article! I drink about 2-3 diet sodas a day and would like to drink less, but it is tough to give up. I started this week by having a cup of coffee in the afternoon instead of caffeine pop. That should have been on my goals list too..

Nich - How are you doing this week?.

Lopez - congrats on the 2 lbs! I hope tomorrow is a better day..

Jennifer - Happy Dance Time!!! A healthy BMI is wonderful! Are you going into transition or hoping to lose more?.

Terri - Hello!! So glad to hear from you. Sorry to hear that business has been so tough. I'm glad you are back!.

Connie - what are you up to today?.

Hope you are all having a great day. I am still chugging some water. I went to poweryoga last night and OH MY!!!! I was the only one with a beat red face, sopping wet with sweat (i know tmi) and breathing like a freight train, but I stuck with it for 75 minutes. I do have to say though that today I didn't exercise because I can hardly move my muscles hurt everywhere. In fact I dropped the kiddos off at their Y activities and I went and sat in the sauna for 20 minutes. I feel GREAT now.

I should get going. I don't know if I'll be back tonight or not. Dinner is just about ready to come out of the oven, and I need to make my soup to join in. Bye...

Not sure about the rest of you but I have been tending to focus too much on the scale. Self-sabatoge has been lurking at my door the past few days and I need to push it away once and for all! Good Morning Reds!.

Did I mention that I really don't like the time change? My kids have been getting up really early (5AM) when we could actually sleep until 7AM. Am hoping for more sleep tonight. Anyways....

Olivia - great job on the exercise, but be careful. Medifast encourages only 45 min. of strenuous exercise due to the low caloric intake. If you feel lightheaded or your weight loss slows down, you may want to cut back on the exercise, add more protein, or switch to the 4 and 2 plan..

Maria O - I haven't, but others may have. Does it happen after an especially fatty meal? Nutrition services or the doctor/nurse call is open to everyone, so don't hesitate to use that resource if you are worried about it..

Gail - Congrats on your year and 75 lbs! That is commitment! We all lose weight at different speeds, and you and I are probably on the slower side. I'm glad you realized that self sabotage is in the picture - that is a great step in changing your actions to keep that 75 lbs off. You can do it!.

Connie - Yeah for your Yankees! I am up to 30 oz of water already! I am drowning my fat today..

Has your work issues cleared up?.

Everyone must be busy this week, but would love to hear from everyone! I think checking in regularly really helps with commitment too. Hope you have a great day!!..

Olivia - I haven't been motivated to get into exercise yet! You are doing great, I love your variety..

Maria O - I also haven't had that issue. I wouldn't think we would have enough fat on 5/1 to cause fatty stools. I did try Alli a while ago and I had that issue with it, but not with MF..

Gail - Congrats on your year and 75 lbs!! That must feel great!.

Connie - go Yankees go!.

Nich- Congrats on being a BIG loser this week! Yea!.

So, what will you do today to put yourself on track for long term success?.

I'm heading to the gym and that date I have with the treadmill..

- Thanks so much for sharing the soda article. I gave them up last year when I started on the Medifast plan. You know, I feel like I have been flirting with the plan and feel like I sabotage myself. Let's really focus on what we want to do and how we will succeed..

- Congrats to your Yankee's!!! I watched all of the games EXCEPT for last nights game, darn it. Did they beat up on A-Rod last night? Seems like the Phillie's pitchers were playing dogde ball with him all week..

- I have no idea what a fatty poop is. You should probably pose a question on the dietician/medical board..

- Where you at? We miss your positive notes in the morning. How is NYC today?.

- I have been in a funk this week, stressing about issues at home. I pinched myself back to reality today, so I'm feeling a bit better..

Hi..glad to see everyone is doing well and OP...These past few days have been so hectic for me..Have been working alot since I'm going on vacation to dominican republic in a week and a half...About the fatty stools I know is because of the diet because it started abot 5 days after I started medifast..im a nurse...so I get paranoid because it is a symptom of so many other things like malabsorption syndrome..idk I'm like I know it's cause I'm in ketosis and burning so much fat..it has to get out somehow..also it's bot an everyday thing usually once a week..but thanks for caring I did post it to see if any1 had the same effect...

On the other hand I'm getting nervous about my vacation I am only going for a week but I love the food out there..everything is so fresh and food and alcohol everywhere so I cant even try to avoid it...but I know I have to stay op...im kinda traumatized b/c after college I went to dominican republic for 3 months and gained like 20 lbs..none of my clothes fit me ...for this reason I have associated weight gain with the island itself...i know it was the choices I made but the mind is a powerful thing..and the worst thing is I wont be able to go online everyday so I wont be able to turn to the site for motivation...

Well goodnight to all..

I know that I get too tempted when I am that hungry...

Maria If the Dominican Republic is full of fresh veggies and fish can you focus on endulging on those for the L/G... maybe going to 4 and 2 would help for the week as well..

I have still been running the C25k and am really feeling it.. today I ran and ended feeling if I had more time I could repeat the session ...such a great feeling..

Happy Saturday Red Hots!.

Your Saturday Cheerleader checking in!.

Blanche's DM yesterday got me thinking about how disappointments can sabbotage us while making life changes and losing weight. A familiar one for me in the past is that since I didn't lose weight this week, I must not be able to lose anymore and can eat whatever I want. Another common one is wanting immediate results to life changes. When it doesn't happen, we can get disappointed and we don't carry through. Is this happening anywhere in your life right now?.

I found many articles on dealing with disappointment - here is a bit from.

*Honest and appropriate preparation is a must..

*Have a plan but be flexible. Change the plan when appropriate..

*Appreciate the hard times. They make the easier times seem even better..

*Keep pushing. Don't give up. Don't give in..

*Constantly ask yourself, "Am I doing my best right now in these circumstances?".

*Realize that the time of suffering in a race is miniscule when compared to your entire life. You can bear that..

*Not achieving a goal can act as the little irritant necessary for an oyster to create a beautiful pearl..

*Realize the sun will rise the next morning..

*Realize it is the character, diligence, and perseverance of the racer that is most important - not necessarily the actual outcome of the race..

*Look ahead and prepare for tomorrow. For excellence is not a gift given, but a skill perfected..

I hope you all have a wonderful OP/OW/OE Saturday! See you at the weigh in!..

She looked back while bidding on the item to get on stage and I put up a 5 to represent $500, which was the exact amount of the item, so she got the extra $$ for being dead on. She won the showcase, so we got to go on stage at the end of the show. A friend of mine in Ohio recognized me and called to see if that was really me on TV. Too funny huh?
