First of all Has anybody here tried Medifast and does it really work as good as they say? Thanks for any answer. My other question... Hi, everyone! My name's Claire, and I'm starting a new short-term weight obliteration challenge for the period of Lent, which starts today and goes until Saturday, April 23. The goal is to do a Lent Descent make that number on the scale go doooown!.

The challenge will begin this week, and go until.

April 27, 2011.

! We will weigh in a total of 7 times before the end of the challenge..

If you want to participate, just post here with your current weight (as of your last weigh-in, whether it's on Wednesday or not), and your goal weight for the challenge. Every week, check back in with your new weight, so we can all admire you! At the end, we will have an Easter celebration (but no Easter candy sorry!)..

I have not done a challenge in a while. Here goes : 155.8lbs to start and a goal of 150lbs..

(Last year for lent I gave up eating healthy. My kids loved it! I gained 9lbs in 40 days. It was fun while it lasted.).

FYI, you don't have to reach your goal BY Easter (unless your weigh-in day is Sunday) just between the Wednesday before Easter and the Wednesday after Easter, depending on your weigh-in day. For example, my last weigh-in for the challenge will be on Tuesday, since that's the day I weigh in every week..

I'm so excited to have everyone participating! Maybe I'll make an Excel spreadsheet, if you think that would be helpful let me know what you think, ladies...

I'd like to join in, as well. I've just come back to Medifast after falling off the wagon hard, and I've never done a challenge. My weight is 200 (oh my...did I really see that in print?!) and my goal is going to be 190, because I'll be out of the country for 3 of those weeks, the last 3 weeks of Lent and I have no idea how I'll do. Might as well try to set myself up for success, rather than failure right?..

My goal is 184 because that would move me to overweight category!.

Lent is a good theme altho I feel like I have been in lent since I started Medifast in September. But lent can be a very liberating time when you gain control!!..

When you're in the forums, just look for the button that says "Edit Profile/Settings," then go to "Edit Signature" on the left. Then you can copy/paste banners and stuff...

I'm excited today, I broke through my next "mini-goal" of under 170 - 169.8 this morning! And Claire, that was my Mardi Gras goal, so reached that about 6 days late, but good :-) Now, the next mini-goal (and Lent goal) is under 160!..

I"m very happy, very chuffed, indeed! I also still want to be realistic, so I'll change my goal to 180 by Easter. If I have to revise again, no one will be happier than I!!!!..

I'm in for the "Lent Descent" Challenge. I have not been a weekly weigher since the very beginning. I will weigh on Friday which will be my '5 month mediverssary' and every Friday from that point on, goal weight in 7 weeks ......211 really 209 can I do a range???.

I want to be in the range of 209 - 211 losing 2 pounds a week and I am currently at 225. Okay, so my goal will be 211 but I would LOVE to be elated with a weight of 209...

Laura awesome! I'm hoping to complete my Mardi Gras goal by this week's weigh-in, as well. We'll see! I started exercising this week, so the scale might not show that loss yet, but I'm going to keep pushing forward. (I also haven't gotten too much sleep, which can contribute... but I've been totally on-plan!).

Robin that goal might not be realistic, but I guess it depends on how much you exercise..

Calire, I have NO idea. All I did was stay on plan and try to drink the minimum 64 oz or more each day. Like I said, probably water weight, but I'll take it LOL!..

Okay so I'm a little late to the party... I think I'm finally getting on track and eating is going to be the death of me... (okay not really but still so hard when I still haven't found my appetite.).

Seems like a good number. After this morning it may be a bit ambitious but we'll see..

183.4 so -0.4 (I'll take it since it's the first week really eating in 2 weeks and middle of the week it was showing +4 and I was trying not to freak out over it... good reason not to weigh daily but I can't help it.)..

Well, today I weighed in at 180.2, meaning that I lost a total of .8. I think that has more to do with my new exercise regime than anything else anyone seen that kind of slowing down when the exercise starts?..

Claire- That's what I'm afraid of! I'm halfway through week 3 right now and I haven't started working out in part due to fear of stalling my WL. The other part is plain laziness and knowing that Medifast will do most of the work, if I work it. It'd help if the weather would warm up, too..

As far as weigh-in goes, My official day is Saturday (my start weight last Thurs didn't change before Sat, so I haven't posted a loss yet). But as of now I'm down 1.6 and I'll be ok if it stays there. Ah the infamous "third-week stall". Fortunately, daily weighing has no effect on my mood. Yes, I'm always happy to see a loss, but I know I'm 100% OP, so if my body wants to play around with 2lbs or so, it doesn't phase me at all. Such a different attitude from all of the other plans I've tried!.

I'm honestly okay with stalling my weight loss if I'm toning up and getting healthy. I definitely recommend exercising... though I might cut back on the Couch25K program until I get in better shape with the Medifast exercise program...

Claire- I'm planning on exercising, I've already been on a couple 20min walks this week. It just feels good! I just don't think I'm going to work on weight lifting for another 6 weeks or so. I have a shoulder injury, too, which I'm working through with PT, so that kind of rules out certain things!.

Oh, and as of this morning I'm actually down 2.4 from my LD start. And I still have until Saturday for my "official" weigh-in. Woohoo!..

Hi Jess, I'm kinda with you on the working out - I go for about a half hour walk every day (but more just to enjoy the fresh air and clear my head, it's more of a stroll), but that's about it. I also do some ankle exercises for a weak ankle, but those aren't strenuous. The few times I've worked out harder, I've gotten SO HUNGRY the next day. So I say, if it's not something you really like doing, is it worth wasting will power on? I have bad joints though, so that colors my thinking, too - can't wait to be lighter for them! You'll figure out your happy medium...

LauraBelle- I agree. I like taking a walk just to take a walk. It doesn't have to make me out of breath. I know I'll be upping the intensity after a while, but it'd also be nice to kind of keep it in my back pocket incase I hit a plateau (which we pretty much all do). My problem has always been that I used to be an athlete, so I want to jump right back in the pool and do 100 laps or go for a run and I get frustrated that I can't and then I give up. I think taking it easy this time is a good thing for me... for now..

Hey, late joiners are totally fine! I just make sure your goal is realistic you don't want to crush yourself by not losing "enough.".

Hi every1!! Glad to see every one is doing so well. I had to remind a friend this week that whether we lose 1 lb or 10 lbs. a loss is a loss and we should celebrate it. soo WOOOOHOOOO to all of you losers!!.

We can also celebrate a lack of losses, or even a gain, depending on whether or behavior changed that week. Seriously. As I wrote about in my blog, we often put too much faith in the scale if we're following the program, we know we're doing well...

What worked well for me the first week was drinking more water than I usually do. I managed to drink at least 3.8 liters a day and lost a significant amount of weight. Also, giving up the coffee whitener and other higher carb condiments for Lent helped tremendously..

I didn't post last week but my results are:.

Week one March 17: -4.5.

Week two March 24: -2.0.

Things that work for me are to eat my L&G midday. I mainly stick to the meatless options..

Things that didn't work for me is Diet Dr. Pepper. I really love it but I believe it made feel hungrier. I hope I reach my Lent Descent Goal! I want to be 160 by Easter...

I'm closing in on my Lenten Descent goal, but I'm going out of the country for 3-4 weeks so will most likely not be posting for the rest of Lent, unless I can get computer access and a scale. Will keep trying my best!..
