Happy Valentines Day everyone,.

I am just relaxing drinking some coffee. I so love my quiet Sunday mornings..

I am going to weigh in tomorrow. I am really looking forward to this challenge. I think this is just what I need to kick my butt into gear. I now also have another incentive. My neice is going to backpack through Europe with one of her girlfriends that is doing a semester abroad for the month of April. I am going to meet her for the last week and show her around Ireland.

I spent some time with him early last summer when I was back down to 160 so I need to be back to at least 170 by the time I get on a plane to Ireland..

I am so excited for my niece. She is 20 and is a hair dresser. She has never really gone anywhere. This will be such a great experience for her to see the world. I was so afraid she was going to get married at 21, have a baby and never leave her home town. Not that there is anything wrong with that but I so think that being able to have an experience like this will open up her eyes to all that there is in the world...

Sounds like a great experience for your niece and a great reason to get your butt in gear.

Lisa, you seem like a strong woman, both strong willed and strong of character, and you have the drive to do this just as you have in the past. You also have all of us to support and motivate you. It sounds like you have taken the final step to be totally on plan this time... so throw away anything tempting from your home and don't look back. You can do this!!..

Hey all, I too just posted on the challenge thread. It's been a doozie of a month for me. I've been bouncing around 220 to 215 and back and forth ... very frustrating but I really do know it will go off so I'm not too frustrated... I'm keeping faith in the program!.

Today I have a ketosis headache so I'm guessing that one of my salad dressings or perhaps the pickle I had the other day threw me out... not sure what, but I've even been resisting the red wine I'm craving. Perhaps it is just stress (or my nasty as heck period). My hubby had a job interview (at the same bank he works for).

And if he gets it we would move to Missouri - which I would love. Sorry if my ramblings don't make sense... just my nasty headache makes proper words tricky to grab...

Sorry to hear about your little valentine! Hope he gets better soon!.

My valentine's day "gift" to myself... lol Is sitting in the parking lot of the dealership... waiting to go in to get the sunroof resealed and to get the new alarm system put in it along with an ipod connection to the stereo..

I have a cherry red Jeep Grand Cherokee Sport 4x4 that I can hardly wait to pick up. It is a 1999 but it is in great condition and only has 59,000 miles on it! Way better condition than my 1999 plymouth voyager that has 163,500 miles on it and is losing oil, transmission fluid and has a brake light sensor that keeps lighting up.....

Best thing yet... I just remembered... it has electric windows in it... my van doesn't. I have horrible tennis elbow in the left arm... and rolling up and down the window was horrible on my elbow! YIPPEE!!! another great reason to look forward to the new to me vehicle!..

Oh yea Lisa!! We are going to be awesome!!.

Oh, and I just noticed the challenge name KISS - Keep it simple sweetheart... That is exactly my plan for this 6 weeks - I'm keeping it simple! No major cooking or tweaking just going with the basic Medifast program exactly how Dr. A designed it. Plus I'm going for a minimum of 84 oz water a day, preferably 100 tho and try to get on the wii at least 5 times a week if not every day. I've got to make this work...

I was wondering if anyone else has an issue with the shakes being gritty. It's a big issue for me. I don't have a sense of smell so I tend to be pretty picky about the texture of my foods. Anyone have any suggestions? Or could it be the fact that I purchased the diabetic shakes? Just Curious...

Suzanne - I start all the drinks and soups out by making a roux so that the powder liquifies like making gravy. Then I shake it. If you can get a magic bullet, they work great. Well worth the money if you are in this for the long run...

answered May 01 at 04:08

Brenden's gravatar image

Have you tried making them a day ahead of time? That would allow the fiber and other things in them to thicken... I like my shakes more watery and prefer the grit to the thickness so I mix and drink immediately..

The other thing I like is the shake cake - use a shake w/1/4 to 1/2 tsp baking powder (mix it) then add 1 egg white (subtract from L&G) and 1-2 tbsp water - mix it all up to a cookie dough or slightly loose dough consistency & put in a pam sprayed ramekin and micro for a minute or two depending on your microwave. It's pretty tasty. You can use SF syrup instead of water if you like or add a packet of splenda to the dry. It makes a nice change. (however not part of my "hardcore plan".

Hi all, I'm still around. Haven't been on the computer much. It just seems like by the time I get home from work (I try to get all errands done after work as I live about 25 min from town, out in the boonies), get changed, get my PA in, get L&G going and over with and spend a bit of time with DH it is late and I don't have much time..

This weekend we had our granddaughters (17 month twins and a 3 month old), it was a very nice weekend. I love my grandma time..

Good luck to everyone on the challenge. I know you will do well..

I was thinking the other day that it might be fun to dig out our pedometers. We have not done that for a while. Didn't we do something like 10,000 step mini challenges or something? Could be good for all of us..

DH had his sixth weigh in this morning. He is down a total of 25.2 in six weeks and only has 13.6 to goal. I am transitioning well, still bouncing around between 132 - 133. I think I finely got the sugar cravings caused by adding the fruit under control, at least I think that is what it was from. I am still having two Medifast meals a day and that is working for me..

Suzanne, I don't know much about the shakes. I drink the french vanilla in my morning coffee. The only other time I have a shake it is blended with crushed ice..

Hope everyone is having a great start to the week...

I'm just home from a nice weekend in San Francisco with my husband and son. We walked a lot and hit a couple of children's museums. It was fun, but I'm ready to be back home and get back to my routine...

On another GREAT plus note, someone I see almost every day said "Wow, you are really getting thinner!" It was random and we had not even been talking about the diet nor was I eating something lol. She sees me all the time and all of the sudden it clicked in her brain that I looked thinner... and it felt amazing.

I have been looking at my husband a lot lately because his body and face are changing so much right now!! I barely recognize him half the time because his face looks so thin. I will get a picture of him tomorrow and show you all what I mean... it is crazy!.

Hey guys, my name is Kim and I will be joining you for this challenge. Just a quick intro:.

I am married (almost 19 years), have 3 boys ages 14, 12, and 5 and teach junior high computer applications. I have struggled with weight my entire adult life only reaching my goal weight with Medifast 13 years ago. I first tried Medifast in 2005 then restarted in 2008. Been kind of "playing" around with it. Have lost 30 lbs and pretty well kept it off. But have about 35 more to go.

Really wanting to see 180s by end of this challenge..

I have participated in other challenges and teams before. But have been kind of inactive since summer/fall. Glad I decided to check the boards yesterday and find this team and challenge that is starting right away. Just got back from a last-minute cruise and ready to get back OP! Been faithfully working out with personal trainer for a year and have really noticed change in size but not so much in weight. Ready to break through this "set-point" and find a new one at my goal weight!.

Will check back later....getting ready to go back to school after a 3-day break...

Welcome Kim. You will love this team. We are all very supportive..

Jessica what a great NSV. It is really nice when people notice..

So we are getting a big snow storm today in Boston. I got in to work super early so that if the storm really picks up I am in the parking garage and can just stay put. We have ouside and inside parking so on snowy days you have to get in early to get inside and who wants to shovel your car off after a long day of work. I have all my Medifast food with me and have already drunk 32oz of water..

Have a great day everyone...

Why? Why must the scale mess with me? However this morning I weighed myself for the typical Wednesday weigh in and it said 215.2.

TOM is due at any moment/day, maybe that has something to due with that? We'll see.....

1 splenda.

Mix together well (magic bullet or blender), pour into a large microwavable bowl. Microwave on 70% power for 90 seconds (watching carefully), stir gently. Micro again on 70% power for 1 min. It will fluff up and flow over if you are not careful...

I got in 110 ounces. Had a crazy day - went to Portland and had a cancer thingy burned off my nose and managed to stay on program with a giant plate of sushi in front of me! My hubby and daughter had a Costco tray. I stole a shrimp and then just snacked on Costco roast chicken breast in the bag - I love how they sell just the breast meat! Another tough thing was that I forgot to have my momentum cappuccino today! I was in shock when I was falling asleep (almost) during my drive to Portland. Total bummer. But I did have 2 chocolate shakes and a peach oatmeal drink style and a choc mint bar. My brownies come Monday....

Went with my standard L&G of shrimp salad (yum) and cooked spinach. I'll probably have a vanilla shake before bed..

Exercise wise, I am totally in pain from this week's wii challenge - Bird's Eye Bulls Eye. I can't believe how something so seemingly harmless actually is making me take total notice of my arms (and the total pain!)..

WTG Marni!! That is so exciting! Thanks for the recipe too - my sister was just saying she needed a way to use up her vanilla pudding too!.

Raena, Yes, TOM does me in too... ride it out and drink lots of water and it will quickly straighten out..

I am so tired, that I can't remember what else I was going to write... Hugs to all...

I had a chef type salad for my L&G today..

I am sooo waiting for those brownies to come in my shipment... Hoping I like them. I thought that I would probably add my SF Torani syrups to them... to give them a little different flavor as needed..

This week has just been plain hectic... and the stupid meetings don't stop this week at work.. and private life. I've not gotten home until 9pm PST every night this week so far... and tomorrow night, Friday night, Saturday night and probably sunday night won't be any different! AAGGHHH!!! So... Hi Kate. Welcome to Team Purple. I hear you on transition. I was only 8 lbs from goal and did transition to fast and blew it. Now I have 46.5 lbs to loose again. No we can't eat whatever we want! But we are all here to support each other with this life change. You can do it!..

Morning everyone. How is everybody doing this week.....Anyone have any stressors, challenges, or just plain bad days happening? Talking about it is a good thing. Get it out so we don't find ourselves running to our normal comforts A.K.A excess food or drink....

Our 20 year old son moved back in after a month in Florida. Thought he could make it on his own, we hoped he could (he is the source of much distress to the other 4 members of our house) We try so hard not to make him feel that way. The facts are the facts. He is out today looking for jobs or so he is saying. He has to figure out how to grow up and we are finally at the place of saying it's time. In New York we are legally financially responsible for him until he is 21.

So that is my stressor for the week. Of course my husband is very supportive and we are on the same page but he is also a conflict avoider and just kind of waits for me to bring it up and I told him right now he needs to step up and deal with this. I gotta tell you that felt good...

Christommeg (what is your name?) I hear you on the adult child problem. My nephew who had a lot of issues moved in with me when he was 19 because of problems at home. He had emotional issues, was very imature and needed a big push to grow up. It took me three years and lots of therapy(I made him go as a condition of living with me) to get him to the place where he could handle moving out and living on his own. What a challenge! He moved out last April and is doing great. And I am happy to have my place back to myself.LOL..

Thanks Lisa. My name is Lynne. Counseling is a great idea. I know he would benefit from it. He needs to figure out how to grow up and with us at our wit end I'm not sure we even know how to help him with that..

Your nephew was so lucky to have you step in and help him. It takes a special person to be able to to do that...

Hi Suzanne ~ I'm back reading some posts I missed out on. Do you have a Magic Bullet or the Medifast shaker w/ ball. Those really help w/ the mixing of the shakes? I always pre-mix my shakes and let sit in the fridge for a while. Some shakes thicken up abit. I use the diabetic shakes and I don't have a problem. The key to Medifast food is to let it soak...

Sorry you are having a stressor going on Lynne. As a mom it is tough to both want to protect and care for our children as well as allow them the opportunity to fall and or fail. I know sometimes my mom still has to be my Mom and not juust my friend. And I know the same will be with my kids. You are a Mom forever and however you decide to handle the situation is the correct one... because no one knows and understand more than you..

Hugs <3..

Morning Everyone,.

TGIF! This is the last day of school vacation in Massachusetts so it was the last morning that I had a nice commute to the office. It took me 35 minutes this morning. Monday will take me an hour! I love when school is out..

So I am on day five of my recommit. I am so surprised at how once your mind is ready to take on a challenge how much easier it is. I have not really even had any cravings this week. Two weeks ago when I tried restarting, all I could think about was Pizza. Now I could care less. Funny how the mind works. And did I mention that I have that lovely metallic taste in my mouth this morning! Ketosis Yipee!..

Lynne, I feel your stressor pain. We went through the same thing with our youngest. She is now 22, on her own and a wonderful mommy of three baby girls, twins 17.5 months and baby Jay is 3 m. We often wondered if there was any hope. There is..

Lisa, So glad you are back on the right track. Can't wait to welcome you to T&M. And yes, TGIF..

Yesterday was my grandsons fifth birthday and we will have a big Toy Story birthday party for him tomorrow so will be out of town for the weekend. I gem more grandma time and am thrilled..

It is so great to have a place to just come and say whatever it is I need to say. I have hard time doing that IRL. God forbid anyone should think we are less than perfect. Ya know? I am discovering that by admitting we are less than perfect I am far more successful this time around losing weight than any other time in my life. I am learing to let other people hold me up..

Thanks for the glimmer Donna. I know he will get there in his time. I just wish I had more patience instead of snapping at him. I'm sure he is thinking he is proving something to us everytime I do that..

Your right Jess we are always mom. No matter what and the little **** knows it..

We don't have any plans this weekend Robin. DH works tihs weekend so I will do some cleaning and cook dinner while he is gone...

We made this crazy garbage chili last night. It was so good I am still tasting it today..

We had some left over top round from Valentines so we used the food grinder and shredded it. Then we had leftover "Soopermommy's" marinara sauce. Leftover Spaghetti squash. I weighed out my 5 ounces of beef, added the spaghetti squash to the marinara (made with mushrooms, peppers and tomato sauce) and portioned out 1 1/2 cups of the sauce, threw in my beef and chili powder and simmered for a couple hours. Made the family's with the rest of the ingredients. It was crazy good..

In the past any leftover veggies (if we had even had any) would have landed in the trash...
