Quick question... Have you ever tried the Medifast Diet? Hoping for any comment. My 2nd question... Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended..

Please discontinue reading Tough Love threads if they are going to cause you to become upset..

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++.

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstinence from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

I have a list of housework and laundry for today. I have to start ultra cleaning before I put this place up for rent. My dh got back in a simulator yesterday and is thrilled.

I think he said he'll get his first real flight shortly after I leave. Also, he found out he's not deploying until a year from July which is great b/c we originally told it'd be this January..

Have a great day everyone!..

So happy to hear no deployment for DH for awhile.(I feel your pain) That must be a relief. I have friends that were renting their place, and they did the SUPER CLEAN just like you're doing, but then when all was said and done, they hired a cleaning company to come in for the day just to take care of stuff that was too "project-y" Washing walls, baseboards, scrubbing wood floors and carpets too...

I, too love all the activity and people in here. I hate that I can't sit in here all day and chat with everyone, though. Last year I had more flexibility (less firewalls, no HUGE, ONGOING project). I'll have to be content with grabbing my coffee in the morning and catching the occassional evening chatter..

Off I go - LATE, as usual!.

I will hire cleaners for the end, but this is more getting rid of crap stage. Having lived in base housing we always hire cleaners to pass our move out inspection. Although I may pay my Mom to do it (she'd do a better job anyway).

Sharing one of the things that make me grin every morning..

So, because DS is in preschool, he gets to have the school bus (oversized van) come pick him up. (very convenient) So every school day, there's a van full of preschoolers that arrive at the end of my driveway. So I stand there and wave and blow kisses after Patrick is loaded into to the van... and most mornings, there are more preschoolers than just my DS blowing kisses and waving back. Bless there little hearts!..

Happy about the delay in DH's deployment but not so sure I'd be thrilled to have to tackle that project. I'm doing the "clean out of belongings" in my basement too. Some were contaminated in the mess, some not. We'll be doing the same thing today..

Zoe:.

It takes me forever to get my DH to work out vacation time...so if you figure out how to "suck it up", let me know so I can work the mojo on my hubs..

Hi Jan!.

Sorry you can't chat longer!.

No class for me today...they are refinishing the floor in the building. No class tomorrow either. It feels weird to be home right now instead of teaching..

Well, I have construction guys, carpet guys, and who know who else coming over to begin certain phases of basement renewal. Gotta get the pod delivered too. So much to do!.

Morning, TLers!.

Well, for the first time in 20 years, DH and I are in a position to actually own a home. Well us and Nancy - Fi-Nancy. But still, a mortgage is part of the American Dream, right?.

He kind of sprang the idea on me, and I was freaking out. There just aren't any more hours in my day, most weeks. But he's already done all the pre-qual work and started screening places and told the realtors not to call me for anything. lol and he's started packing. So, here we go again! Let's see - that'll make 13 moves in 17 years, I think, but this will be the first one to our own home..

Nothing like a little stress, huh?..

Bobbie, didn't know that you taught Preschool. That can be a fun age-range. There are kids that are 3 to 5 years, so it's sort of a crazy mix. They are so sweet (most times LOL). You must have one kick butt immune system from being around all those runny noses etc. When I got sick in 2009, I was on immunosuppressants (I was on prednisone and an oral Chemo) it was sooo hard...

I was like, umm, yeah I have a three year old snot factory that goes to preschool every day to revel in the joys of snot and germ warfare on adults, who comes home and wants to snuggle with his Mamma."..

Hi Corbie - WOW - your own house - that's exciting! Best of luck!!!! I have to say, as much work as it is, I love my house and am grateful for it everyday..

Very happy that my dd has been cleared by her dr to go back to her externship at Lenox Hill Hospital (she's a cardio eccho tech) on Monday. I love my daughter to the moon and back - but it's time. She didn't like the smell of my brownies or my oatmeal pancakes, so I was trying to make those when she wasn't around which was getting tough. Good Morning.

Bobbie!.

I'm afraid there will still be a lot of waiting involved. They have to special order my carpet...so I hope we don't end up waiting too long on it!.

Anna:.

I have a brand new (Christmas gift) apple desk top (which I love) and evidently the newest version of Safari isn't something USAA can handle, so I ended up downloading Firefox and sending the pics that way. They actually asked me why I don't ditch the new Safari and download the old one. Why would I do that? I don't really use Firefox, but I guess I will use it for sending pics to USAA from now on. I'm just glad it worked..

Steph:.

Despite my current homeownership woes, I am so happy for you! I LOVE my house...and actually every house I've ever been blessed enough to own (with aforementioned Fi-Nancy). My first house scared the living daylights outta me. Signing those papers felt like signing away my firstborn or something! But, with each place we've signed on, it felt less and less scary..

Right now the financing rates are good, so you are really lucky. The first house my DH and I bought, we assumed a loan because the rate was a lot lower than you could get on a new loan. Get this, the great rate was 12.75! Yup folks, we bought our first house in 1982. NOT a good year to buy. We sold that house in 1986 and actually lost money on it. Fortunately every house we have owned since then has not been a loss..

You're gonna love having your own home!.

A small *Happy Dance* for you.

Melissa..

It makes a difference to be able to make the Medifast meal you want, when you want!.

I keep saying I'm going downstairs and start working on the basement. I'm really going to do it this time! I'll check in later...

Hi Melissa- Thanks for asking.

I started getting Migraines at age 12- probably when I started my period. Most of them revolve around that but sometimes when we go through weather changes I get what they call "cluster" migraines where I can get 3 or so in a week. I went through all of the food triggers a few years back and there are a few things that will trigger me- ALL SLUDGE so they don't really matter anymore. I am so thankful for all of the new treatments and medications they have now- when I started getting them I just had to go to bed.

I can manage them pretty well but about every 6 months I get one that just knocks me off my feet and sometimes can last 3 days..

My doc wants me to try the depo shot- I am really scared because when I went on BC pills I got one every week- she says it's different so we will see. Good thing about the shot is that I will not have TOM anymore- but one of the side affects is weight gain- NO THANKS.

Melissa you are so close to onderland!!!!!!..

Keri - Love the visual of the kids all waving and blowing kisses to you. I drop my son off at daycare. The kids are adorable..

Melissa - Congrats on the awesome loss!!!!.

Penny - I changed my banner to green. Love it! So Springy..

Bobbie - Migraines. Blech. I've never had one. But I know they are bad..

Freya - from yesterday: Love the shoes. And as far as the date goes, I say just say no. Unless there's a real good reason why he's unemployed, that's a huge red flag for me..

I'm thrilled to be so close to Onderland! I really CAN see it from here! :-) My 18s are now getting loose and I'm going to try some closet shopping this weekend! I have a lot of 16s, but (especially as my dd will tell you) they're a bit outdated..

Keri I LOL'd at 3-year-old snot factory! I have a 7-year-old snot factory - and she still waves and blows me kisses from the bus! Sometimes her friends from down the block do, too! But I know it won't last forever..

Melissa, I agree that I am WAY too busy to get sick! A friend in AZ (not from MF) is working with the ACS on Relay for Life and asked me to donate a pair of earrings in return for exposure to 5000 to 8000 people! Yee-ikes! I'm thrilled to do it and today after school I am taking the little one back to the bead shop (the one with the pug named Otis, not Milo as previously reported) to get some yummy amethyst for these. Bobbie-I take the depo shot and three other medications known to cause weight gain, and I'm still losing. I wouldn't be that scared of it. It's worth a try! Bad thing for me is that I still have periods. They aren't as often, but sometimes they are FOREVER! I mean weeks. But they are normally very light. TMI, I know!.

Today is day six of Chantix. This means that tomorrow I will become a nonsmoker. Thankfully, Seth goes back to preschool tomorrow! I think it will be easier without a two year old to entertain. Tomorrow also starts my husband's seven day break from work (He's a shift worker). He's the type that really helps out with the kids, so I can run and hide from them if I need to lol!..

- Question: I keep seeing these Chantix commercials in the morning and I thought it was so odd they list nightmares/bad dreams as a common side effect? I'm a non-smoker, but I thought this was an interesting disclaimer to put since it's usually blod clots, shortness of breath, eyelashes falling out, etc. If you don't mind sharing, I was wondering if you or anyone you knew suffered from the dream side effects?.

And to all those battling sickness out there... It's going around! This sore throat sick feeling keeps coming and going, coming and going. Well frankly, I'm sick of it! Each week - hopefully it goes away soon! Feel better - lots of vitamin C!!.

Good Morning Tlers!.

Tough Lovelies. I think that name suits this group perfectly..

Thanks Penny..

Good luck with your jewelry business, which is really taking off. Pink for Arizona?.

DH is home today preparing for his coloscopy tomorrow early AM. I plan to tkae 2 of my Rx wake up pills along with other AM meds so I can drive, sit around, and drive him home. I love him. I made him a Marie Callender's Dutch Apple Pie yesterday. I was able to get to the store to pick up a few things he needed and splurged on the to-bake pie..

You guessed. Burned the whole damn thing! So instead of coming home to the wonderful aroma of cinnamon and apples, it was sad. Predictable, but sad. I was reading, heard the beeps and timers but felt no association to them at all. This is why I don't cook anymore..

Did house work today. A little vacuuming and dusting. Boy, do I feel proud..

Now just resting with my Mid-morning jug of Vanilla Shake 70. Bed feels so good..

I've been listening to Molly Harper books lately from Audible.com. She is so intelligent and witty. Very funny. These are about were-wolfs, instead of vampires. She is my go-to new author when I need a good laugh..

Today I am tired tofu now,.

Congratulations, Melissa! -4 lbs..

Keri: I could feel the love and joy from those blown kisses here in mid-IN. Thanks..

All other chopped tofu: keep up the great work, especially Kris. Some evenings when I met my DH at the door after a long day with the kiddies, he'd take one look at me and just say,"Go." I usually just went to the closest fabric store and sat and looked at patterns undisturbed until I was ready to come home. Didn't buy anything..

Our kiddies had pneumonia after pneumonia after pneumonia and then asthma. We paid more tuition for programs they never really attended, they were almost home schooled. Mayo Clinic said our oldest wouldn't live to be 16 years old. Our home was like a hospital 24/7..

When she was old enough to attend 8th grade, she came home the first day with brochures of Boarding Schools. After I was stunned, I thought: it's her life. I'd rather have her drop dead living her own life to the fullest where she chooses. First Interlochen Academy in MI, then Exeter in NH, then as a student in France. She was our pre-school swim team member, along with the boys who went to all the Military Academies. Now she's also the RN who is 35 and loves jumping out of helicopters to ski.

There will always be part of me that is crying as I remember her saying that she'd miss going to prom and getting her driving license the most. She attended so many proms and whenever she was home My wonderful DH sat down with her every weekend as she plotted the next days drive anywhere she wanted to go. She was in the driver's seat- always..

Wow! Get me when I'm tired, I start talking like a drunk at a bar..

Love, Beth..

Lisa, I am definitely having the dream side effects! The first few nights it was nightmares, but the last few days the dreams have been very "colorful" and kinda cool. The nightmare was about the end of the world and I was in a castle hiding from these weird flying things that were coming to get me LOL! I had one where my husband was cheating on me and told me he didn't love me anymore. Then the nightmares stopped. Last night I had a dream that I got my hair done, and it was a beautiful blonde color. I woke up this morning actually considering it. I don't know though.

I am remembering all of the dreams I have because I have been waking up a lot during the middle of the night because of the meds and my son kept stirring. The most common side effect is nausea (30% experience it), so I am just glad I don't have that. Question-should I go blonde? I am very fair skinned with blue eyes and light eyebrows. My hair goes all the way down my back. I'm babbling now, I will shut up lol...

Kris.

- that is CRAZY! I heard the commercial and was like - are they.

Serious.

?!! I've never heard of side effects like that before, but I guess it makes sense since it's stopping the impulse to smoke. A woman on my commuter bus used it - a chain smoker her entire life and she's in her late 60s now and she is now a non-smoker. She said it worked wonders for her! Now in terms of hair color, I would probably gradually go blonder since you said you're so dark now. It'd be healthier for your hair so you're not stripping it. I'd definitely go to a good salon and don't do it yourself, trust me, DIY going from dark to blonde - need professionals! That way you'll avoid the orange and any crazy mishaps, and if they do happen, they can fix it for you. But I'm all for going lighter!!! The worst that can happen is you'll dye it back to your natural color.

I wanna see a pic when it's done!!.

And for everyone's listening/viewing pleasure, I'm currently obsessed with Adele's new CD. It's fantastic and if you haven't gotten it - go get it!! Here she is singing "Someone Like You" at her home. I hate that she makes it look so effortless!.

LOL, Lisa! I had to stop by the Post Office this morning anyway, so I figured I'd drop a few items in the box!.

I remember reading that Chantix replacated the effects of a recreational-and-I'm-just-too-old-to-enjoy-anymore piece of my youth... I'd try it just for that. If I still smoked..

Melissa, my hubby is of the same manner of thinking. He doesn't get why some people just have trouble losing weight and keeping it off. Yep, stop eating, lose weight. Easy to do when you only have to worry about yourself and not feeding and taking care of a kid and a husband. The cat fends for himself most of the time..

And feel free to send the ideas on! Sometimes I will just set a project aside and do something entirely different. Occasionally, I NEED to do that...

Good morning! I'm late checking in this morning and had a lot to read to catch up..

I thought of Penny's story (about her hubby sharing a long story) last night as my DH was giving me a description of a movie he had watchedit felt like he was describing it scene by blessed scene. At one point I was.

Mentally.

Screaming "I cannot take anymore". LOL I love the man completely, but we do not enjoy the same types of movies or books and I hate, hate, hate hearing a detailed description of something I would never read or watch..

If that was done on a first datethere would not be a second..

Freya, I would say 'no thank you' and send him on his way to find his soulmate..

As for MF, I'm up .5# this week and I'm cranky. I called my health coach, went over my food journals, my bodybugg stats, etc. We talked for over 90 minutes, brainstorming as to the why of the long weight loss stall (since March 8th). She said she was going to call Nutrition Support on my behalf and asked me to drink more 'water' (plain or with Medifast infusors) & take a waist measurement to see if that is changing..

I've been eating primarily puffs and crunch bars for my supplements, carbs (with L & G counts) have been in the mid to high 80's, some times even 92 (if I use a higher carb dressing on my L & G or eat boca burger)..

According to my Bodybugg stats, I am having calorie deficiets every day. Every day and still my weight is staying within a 1-1.5# range..

I've been using Medifast for a long time and have been use to my body hanging onto weight for a couple week 'stall' and then losing a nice amount (3# or so). I'll then lose small amounts weekly for awhile and then have another couple week stall. Just how my body seems to drop the weight. This is the longest and most frustrating stall I've 'enjoyed'. It is the pits..

I'm going to work on the water with infusors, making sure carb choices don't put me over 85, stay off the scale until next Wednesday, waist measurement and then see what next week shows on the scale..

I'm thankful to have a HC that is willing to help me figure this out. So frustrating!.

Yikes! I never meant to type out this long of a post. Guess I'll have one more cup of coffee (my second of the day) and rest a bitwore myself out with all that chattering/typing..

Have a great day!..

Talien - Make sure that you don't use more than 3 infusers a day, less if you drink coffee. And DON'T drink them in the afternoon or evening, especially if you want to sleep. You know that your really aren't gaining weight and that it's just a perfectly normal weight fluctuation. As long as you are sticking to the plan, you KNOW you will lose the weight. Hang in there...

Talien, I think that was the longest post I've ever seen from you! Sorry you're having trouble with that mean old scale. My calorie deficits seem to be in the 1000 calorie range when I have the best losses. Glad you have a coach that's trying to help you instead of just letting you figure it out yourself..

I can SO commiserate with you on the blow-by-blow account. Yes, and it's always about things I have no interest in. My husband works on those big concrete mixers and I know more about those damn things than I ever wanted to. He and I also have very different views of what's interesting and what. just. isn't.

I love him to pieces, but brevity is not his strong suit...

Tough Lovelies, as you all know, I want BADLY to get back in the gym with my hubby. I was talking with some of my Body for Life friends and I think I may do a challenge with them. Of course, I won't be doing the food plan, so it won't be an official challenge, But the workouts are great and they generally wrap up in 45 minutes. My original plan was to do my final challenge before my cruise starting on June 6. This gives me two months of weight loss between now and then. Who knows, I may even be transitioning by then..

Off to check my PMs!..

Hey everyone, just popping in, so no time for shout-outs. Except to.

Melissa.

On her awesome loss!.

I was vegetarian or vegan from about age 15-25, and I never worried about my weight. I started eating meat and making adequate money, and the combination of not being poor anymore and having more foods available contributed to my weight gain. I'm seriously considering returning to a vegetarian or almost-vegetarian diet. It's going to kill my DSO, because she is a meatlover who can barely cook and relies on me for edible food. I think, once I've cleared out the current stock of meats in the freezer, that I'm going to go back. It just feels right..

It is challenging to limit carbs on a vegetarian diet, because carby vegetarian sludge is more filling, but I think I can find a balance. Plus, my dog is a vegetarian (due to allergies) so at least someone will be doing it with me!..

Morning! I'm full of great news and positive things... So Buckle up!!!.

1) I'm happy to report I'm down 2.2! Woohoo! Officially another decade of numbers! This is the lowest I've been in about 12 years. Yay me!.

2) My pink slip has been RESCINDED!!! Whew....

3) Snip snip chop chop! I've never posted pics on here, so hopefully I can figure it out. Shortest hair in 25 years. the before pic is a little blurry and the after pic is just with my hair a little wet and not really styled. But you get the gist....

4) My softball team won their first game, 15-4. I'm so proud of them..

Okay, enough of me. On to others....

Melissa- Congrats on the 4 lbs! Fabulous job! I <3 my Keurig. A friend of mine has a small one that he takes camping with him. He bought an AC adapter!.

Stephanie- Congrats on the house buying! It can be stressful, but great too. Just make sure you don't rush to pick out a house just to buy one. Find the right one. Learn from my lesson!.

Bobbie- I was on Depo for years twice. The first time I didn't gain any weight. The second time I did gain some, but I also was eating like crap and not exercising..

Kris- Good luck on quitting. My sister has always been a heavy duty dedicated smoker. She finally quit a few years ago and has never looked back since. If she can do it,.

Anyone.

Can do it..

Lisa- Adele is my favorite! My Pandora radio is almost always on Adele..

Waving to everyone else!!! My 24 germ/snot factories are about to come back from PE. We wipe our desks with Clorox wipes twice a week..

Morning everyone. Phew..drawback of the west coast..tons to read (70) the minute I sit down with my first cuppa joe and fire up the laptop..

On the Eagle..so awesome. My brother had sent my mom and I a link like this of an owl box with eggs. I watched it while they hatched and was obsessed by watching every spare moment. Then when Dad Owl brought his family a small rabbit..well, I could no longer watch it. It was quite sudden and quite violent. Rabbits are so big..even the small ones..

Tal, so sorry about your stall, but it sure sounds like you have a wonderful coach. So many of them are so not like that. You aren't overdoing the exercise are you? I don't remember what you do..

Big WI tomorrow. I haven't weighed in 2 or 3 weeks. Almost caved and walked over to my storage unit to grab my scale, but didn't do it..I think Pittie smacked my brat when I was about it. I just found myself too anxious to finish the last 7 lbs and that irritated me. So..whether I have .5 loss or 2 or whatever, it will be fun to see..

Time to go make a pancake. Well, a pancake muffin anyway. I have never made anything but a muffin with my pancakes. Too lazy and I just love my little muffin...

Wow, good morning my lovelies!!! Tons going on here... no actual chopped tofu but I have to say, Deidra... your hair looks great! (Got thumbs up from the 18 year old, too). My son grew his beautiful blonde curls out last summer to donate. I love his curls, but was thrilled to see the hair gone at the end of it all!.

Well, since we live in a small rural community, x-rays get read by a radiologist in Spokane. We got a phone call this morning after Alison's were "officially" read. We have to go back in, there is a small break. She says this is officially the worst spring break ever. Her brothers are teasing her pretty horribly. I pointed out to the elder one that as a football player, the odds are pretty good he'll end up with SOMETHING in a cast in the next four years so he might not want to push it too much..

There is a mother/daughter sleepover at the church tonight. Is it horrible to admit that I so do NOT want to go? Not even discussing the sludge that I know will be there... sitting around doing nails and girlie type stuff with people I barely know is so NOT on my list of ideas of fun ways to spend an evening. My idea of a good evening? Studying more for my exam on the 12th which is a one shot deal. First of all, I don't have another $350 to spend on it and secondly, you have to have 1950 hours of pediatric care in the previous 24 months and I don't get enough kids up here to maintain those kind of hours.... so it is now or never and is a major life goal and culmination of my entire nursing career! If it were a sleepover with YOU guys...

The few people I know who are going to be there annoy me on a regular basis as is... an entire night with them does not sound relaxing!..

WHOOPS! (Hangs head in shame) I thought you posted the Bald Eagle watch but it was MT_Cup.

Ok TL'ers I need some advice/help... I didn't have my usual Chicken Noodle soup on Monday because I opted for a salad instead and yesterday had my L&G for lunch. So I went to have my chicken noodle soup today (yes, it's been prepared since Monday). Now I never do this but figured it's powdered food so it doesn't go bad... Well one bite and I wanted to throw it back up. I tried to have some and just feel nauseus and sick over here.

First, has this happened to anyone before? Wondering if it went bad. Secondly, should I eat part of another Medifast meal if I can stomach it? I'm feeling very lightheaded and like I may pass out - co-workers said I looked pale and not well (tried to give me soda non-diet; and other carb things I declined). In my arsenal here, I have Medifast pretzels; a bar and Medifast HC. Thoughts/ideas? Or just wait until my next scheduled Medifast meal at 4 and see how I fair..

Thanks for any tips/help!.

Lisa..

Freya, love the outfit!!.

Lisa, I've left soup prepared for a couple of days in the fridge and I've never had a problem. Could you be coming down with the flu? Or food poisoning from your L & G yesterday?..

I would start with sipping some FRESH broth/bouillon slowly and see how your tummy takes it. The next thing on your list I would recommend would be the pretzels, as they're pretty nonoffensive to the tummy...
