I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

Welcome Realist8t and Pooka!!.

It's always wonderful to see new folk jump in and join us in our mutual goal of weight loss and a happier, healthier life..

Pooka-to answer your question, yes-it does seem that the majority of MF'sters DO experience a certain amount of discomfort during their first 2-5,6 or 7 days. It's compltely different with everyone as to what the severity of their "issues" are, but the majority seem to complain about headache's, feelings of starvation and lethargy..

Keep in mind that these symptoms are strictly temporary, and dissipate about as quickly as they occured. In addition, there is a WONDERFUL "Post" on one of the Threads, entitled "Things that I wish I knew before I started Medifast."(or something very similar to that).

It should be fairly easy for you to find by using the "search" option-and it gives you an armful of "ammunition" that you'll find invaluble as you make your way through those first few, potentially shakey days..

Keep in mind however, that many of use got through those early days just fine (I did!)-so again, it really boils down to your personal metabolism..

Good luck to you, I think you'll do fine-and DO read the many success stories of people just like you-those who lost 100, 150, even 200+pounds-and are proudly maintaining their losses years after reaching their initial "goals.".

You'll find their stories inspirational and empowering, and will you also see that they are just like you and I-as they unflinching describe their weight loss journey's honestly and straightforwardly-warts and all..

Again, good luck to you, and I look forward to seeing both of you participate here on the Boards...

The first week is rough but hopefully the motivation will carry you through. My hard time is usually on weekend so I now make sure that I am too busy to even think about eating. I wouldn't normally recommend weighing every day but in the beginning it helps to see daily weight loss...

Hi Pooka,.

I hope you make the decision to start! Before I started MF, I researched everything I could about the program. I needed to drop weight in a healthy way, I knew Medifast was the program for me. I have found great encouragement reading all the success stories, and I read them over and over to help me stay on my course. To answer your question... the first week was tough for me. My problem...

I almost threw in the towel, but had the revelation to make it work for me - after all, I had 2 big boxes of Medifast meals in my pantry!!!! I customized the first week to help me get on track. I learned that eating a protien bar in the morning and soup throughout the day was better for me than using the puddings and shakes. I did not let myself feel starved. I ate green beans, raw carrots or celery in between the Medifast meals. There were a few days when I added an extra protien bar.

They lasted approx. 3 days. My hunger finally subsided and I've been able to follow the program. "DHAP1" posted great suggestions. I can't wait to look up that thread! Good Luck to you......

I lost 87lbs in 8 mos and have a bit more to go. I was one of the very lucky ones that did not get those nasty 3-5 day withdrawals that some people talk about. Just to be on the safe side, you may want to start when you have 2-3 days where you have nothing planned, like work, trips, functions, etc, in the event you do get any withdrawals. Once you get into ketosis, you will feel very good and the weight starts to drop off fairly quickly...

Welcome Realist8t and Pooka!.

I have 200 pounds to lose and am doing well on MF. I am on week 5 and to date I have lost 27 pounds. I will 100% admit that on day 2-3 I was out of it! But I have felt so much better since then! I will also admit that some days are hard. Anytime you make a significant change in your lifestyle there are times when it isn't fun. But the rewards pay off. Many of us, myself included, have tried many different weight loss program, but this is the one does work!..
