First question I got is How long does it take on the Medifast Diet to start seeing results? Thanks for any answer or 2. Second question.. I have only been on medifast for one week - and sticking to the plan like it's my religion. I see people posting about "this is not a meal, it's a snack" ( and in no way do I mean that snarky - like there are 'snacks' on the program. are there?. |

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can answer it..

Hi Sassypants3,.
Congrats on the 10 lbs. lost! That is awesome! Actually, you can have snacks, well approved snacks, and only one a day. If you look under the tab above, "Success Tools" you will see a list of guides on the bottom left of that page. There is a condiment guide, a meatless option guide, and a snack guide, as well as others. There are a few "new" snack options that are not on there yet but Medifast said they would be updating. Some new ones are a TBSP of Peanut Butter, 10 raw almonds or 20 pistacios. Good Luck!.. |

What I would suggest is to become very familiar with the guidelines that Medifast gives & check everything against those. If you check out my blog, I have them all posted (along with a spreadsheet that has all your veggies in measurement and weight).
At the bottom of the page.. Also, if you go to the Registered Dietitians Support forum and use the search feature, you can see what Nutrition Support says about many products. For instance, if you were wondering if Laughing Cow cheese was on plan or not you can do a search and see many posts about it.. About snacks - yes there are snacks that are approved. There is a official list that is. Here. .. * 3 celery stalks. * 1 fruit-flavored sugar-free Popsicle. * 1/2 cup sugar-free gelatin dessert, such as Jello. * Up to 3 pieces of sugar-free gum or mints. * 2 dill pickle spears. * Medifast Soy Crisps (Apple Cinnamon, Ranch, or White Cheddar flavors - one packet = one snack serving). * Medifast Crackers (Multi-grain or Garden Vegetable flavors - one packet = one snack serving). But there are other snacks that Nutrition Support says are okay, like 1 TB of peanut butter and some other things. This is where searching the Registered Dietitians Support forum comes in handy.. I would say that make sure you log everything on the site and make sure your calories are hitting these Nutritional Targets:. 800-1000 calories. 80-100 gram carbohydrates (to achieve mild fat-burning state). At least 72 grams of protein (to prevent loss of lean muscle mass). 10-34 grams of fat. A lot people do eat simple L&G and others (like me) really like to jazz things up. Until you get into your Medifast grove, you may want to just keep it simple.. Good luck in your weight loss!.. |

Thanks to all so much for the help everything - these boards are the best!..

I ate really simple L&G meals my first few weeks until I felt more comfortable with the program and more confident with knowing what was ok and not ok. I do still eat a lot of simple meals, but from time to time I feel ok with experimenting or trying some of the posted recipes..
Congrats on a successful first week!.. |
