First question I got is How to lose weight fast without using something like Medifast Diet?!? Thanks in advance for any comment. Another question on my mind: We are the Future Flirts, striving to change our lives for the better with a healthier lifestyle to include six small meals a day and exercise to fit our daily routines..

We have nurses, teachers, and other professionals in our group and welcome everyone from all over the world to join us on our journey to a brighter, smaller (LOL) future. There are mothers, single people, people with partnersdoesn't matter what type of support you have at home, sometimes you need just a little bit more from others who can understand your frustration, trials, and triumphs! Please consider us a sanctuary of individuals who can do that very thing..

If you are just starting your journey and have not yet found a home, please come in and meet us. If you are recommitting and need a little support, welcome..

Whatever your story, we are here to help in as positive a way as we can without being cloying or overly gooshyis that a word?.

Welcome, Flirts, to another month of working together towards a common goal..

Good evening Flirts! I literally just got home about 15 mins ago - so worn out from the traveling. The convention was awesome - had a great time meeting people and hanging out. I am probably up a few pounds - feels like it anyway. But you know, when in Baltimore, one must eat the crab! Also it's PMS time for me, so water retention too. Not worried though - I went to the gym every morning when I was there and kept up with my training. I actually did pretty well for a vacation and dodged really bad foods that were not on my plan.

I'll write more in the morning!.

Good morning Flirts!.

Hope everyone is doing well today! Still catching up on work from having been gone, but my goal is to be on top of the pile by EOW. Hey, a girl can dream right?.

I have already lost the .5 of a pound from my trip, so that is great! With TOM upon me, I am not expecting a huge loss this week, but whatever, I actually don't care anymore. The weight will rise and fall a bit each week - as long as I have a net loss, I am golden. I am happy that I am only 5 pounds away from moving from "obese" to "overweight". I will definitely celebrate on that day. Hoping to get this done in the next 2 weeks..

These days I am all about my shape, and how that is coming along. My core and weight training is paying off - I am starting to get muscle definition which is really cool. Still have a big belly, but even that is shrinking. It is interesting, because as I get fit, I am beginning to have glimpses into what my actual shape without fat will look like. I have never seen my normal weight shape my entire adult life, so this is a very interesting and novel process for me..

Anyway, hope you all have a great day and stay on your plans!.

Hi Flirts!.

Hinata, I'm so excited for you to be feeling that muscle tone taking shape!!.

You're helping me remember that feeling. From oh so long ago... It's good for me to tap into that feeling. It makes me crave it and want to work harder for the joy of it and not just the grind of it..

Mary, how are you? Have you gotten a momentum going? I'm working every day and not "starting over" anymore. This is my journey every day, good days and not so perfect days..

Well, I posted pictures of my true self on my blog. My "before" pictures, which I still am, unfortunately..

It's really helping me so much to do this blog and put myself "out there". It's keeping me focused. So much of my problem comes from shrinking into my fog and "waiting" to lose weight..

This way, for me, it feels like I'm owning my reality now, saying "I exist" and I'm changing for the healthier..

So, here I am..

Good morning Flirts!.

Just got back from the gym - my abs are killing me lol, but it is ok! I will master these newest exercises no matter what. Tomorrow I meet my gym buddy and he will check my form and progress again, so I have to be on top of this!.

Anyway, I have been thinking a lot about the "athletic brain" lately and trying to read as many articles as I can about why athletes are able to endure such rigorous physical demands. In a world where most people have a hard time getting off the couch to change a tv channel (myself included in this category for much of my life!), why are some people able to do incredible physical things? What is it they mentally do to prepare for competition? I posted a blog about some of these things, but there is one other thing I have come to discover that I would like to share with this group because I think it could be helpful: The art of split-second decision making..

Imagine you are a hurdler, and you are running in a race. You know that you will be running and eventually you will have to leap over a series of hurdles. So picture yourself running and you get to the first hurdle - do you stop to consider the hurdle? Do you pause and ponder the hurdle, how to get over it, it's significance in your world? No, you do not. You see it and instantaneously think "I am going over this hurdle" and do it. You rush forward, leap, lift, and sail over it and race onto the next hurdle. This is how you finish the race.

Now, let's apply this philosophy of split-second decision making to our eating plans. You are out with friends at a dinner, or at home preparing your food, etc. You have a myriad of food choicers to make, social pressures to deal with, perhaps even people encouraging you to go off your plan. This is the moment the art of split-second decision making will really help your food plan..

Consider the food choices and social pressures like hurdles in a track race. The longer you mull over the options and try to think of ways to resist the pressures, the more likely it is you will trip. Just like the hurdler, you need to be able to decide instantly what to do and stick with it. Quickly pick a good food option and give back the menu - I usually ask a friend to take it so I cannot re-open it and peruse the food list. As for the pressures, I make a quick decision to ignore all pressures. I tell myself "No matter what, you will remain on your plan" and I do not deviate from this decision..

Being able to decide quickly what to eat or how to handle social pressure is a life and diet saving tip. This gets you quickly past any obstacles and back on the straight path..

Just thought I'd share this with you - hope it is helpful!.

Hinata.

Congrats on Day 1 again! You can totally do this - keep going and don't stop! You are worth it ^^.

Hi Flirts,.

Welcome Kat!! I'm so glad you've decided to join us. I love your flirts banner..

I'm up for a challenge too. Whatever you all suggest..

I'm focusing on exercise and need to make sure to get in my daily routine..

Hinata, thanks for checking out my blog. And I totally know what you mean about the pros and cons of the home gym. There are some great reasons to go out in the world with other people. Of course, not everyone will attract the kind of handsome support that you have!.

But, for me, with a little one here at home, it's vital to be able to do it here..

I love your analogy about the hurdles!!! Seriously, that's brilliant and I need to ponder it because it's exactly the difference between a good day and an off plan day for me..

Hi Mary, Sony, Lia, and dear UK whether you see this or not,.

I finally started losing again. But slowly because I'm still not really doing Medifast yet. Still, it's the right direction..

Checking in for today, since I am on the other side of the world, I'll get to read what y'all write the next day!.

I hope you all slept well! We all know how important good sleep is. I am working on getting better sleep, but it is hard as I work nights in an Officer's Club. For example, most nights I work 3:30 until midnight, but since it is friday night here, I'll be working 6:30 pm until 3 am...with a commute home. It'll be another long night, I'll be sure to take extra meals with me just in case the day gets longer than it should be..

Today is an ALL SHAKE DAY. I decided to do this, because I had a bad off-program day the other day, and do not want to fall off the wagon too far..

I printed myself weight graph that I can hang on the refrigerator. I know that there is one available on here, but I always like things that I can hold and physically see, because it's less easy to avoid if it's hanging right there!.

Weight Graph.

For the x-axis (bottom ones) I count those as week, week 1 week 2 etc..

For the y-axis (vertical ones) I wrote in pounds with 3 pound intervals..

At the very top it has my starting weight as 223, then on week 1 I put a dot at the 217 mark. Connect the dots and presto! Instant weight chart! I'll scanning and posting mine in a few weeks for an NSV to myself...

Good morning Flirts!.

Well, somewhat good morning anyway. Happy to be alive and all that, but I must have picked up some killer bug on my trip to Baltimore because I am sick as a dog and feeling like 8 shades of death about now. I was ok yesterday morning, a bit stuffy, but by about 4 pm I was down for the count - stuffy nose and chest, coughing, headache and chills - ugh! I am probably going to call in sick today, or request to work from home. Had I realized I was this sick I wouldn't have gone to work yesterday, or met with my gym friend for training - don't like to pass colds on to anyone. Blah, I am going back to bed soon..

Anyway, yesterday was week 3 of my training and my gym friend says I am coming along great! This week we added tricep curls, calf stretches, and pelvic bridges. I am going to have to start writing down all this information to keep track of my program LOL.

I am still overwhelmed by his kindness and support - I always will be. You know, I have been wondering why he was sent to me. I am not very spiritual or religious, and I don't really believe in fate, but I cannot help but wonder about meeting this fantastic man. I mean, how often does such kindness appear in the form of a random stranger offering to help? I keep thinking of that Buddhist Proverb that says 'When the student is ready, the master will appear." I feel that maybe I was ready to move forward in my exercise plan and life, and to truly learn to accept help from somebody else..

Anyway, I have been pondering the challenges we could do as a group. I was thinking a "stop in every day and post" or "30 Minutes of Exercise a Day" challenge might be good. These should be easy enough for everyone to accomplish, and will reinforce the community aspect of weight loss as well as the fitness aspect..

Kiyomi san.

: Ohayou! Pure beauty - what a fabulous name for a fabulous lady!.

I am thrilled to meet another woman who wants to climb Mt. Fuji. Might have to swing by and pick you up next summer and take you up that mountain with me! Did you know that women weren't allowed to climb Mt. Fuji until the late 19th century? When I march up that mountain, and watch the sunrise from the summit (where the gods are said to reside), I will know I have reached my fitness goals. And my hike will be on behalf of all women who have ever been denied anything simply for having been born women..

Awesome sig by the way - fabulous! And I love your sheet for the fridge to show your progress. I too am a very visible/tangible person - I love to touch and see things. It really helps me focus and feel connected to a project or object. In this way, I am happily old-fashioned. I still hand-write letters and thank you notes, collect books I can open and hold and feel, etc..

Zutto tsuzukete! You can do this.

Teresa.

: It completely makes sense for you to have that amazing gym! Especially since you have the little princess to look after, and a home-based business to run. Such a blessing really! And congrats on losing again - that is AWESOME news. You just keep going on, whatever works for you. You know we will support you in your plan and weight loss goals no matter which weight loss path you choose. Just want to see you healthy and happy.

Good Morning!.

Hinata, I'm so sorry you're sick. Hopefully you will find that your body does what it needs to do and gets well quickly..

I do have one idea about why your gym friend was sent to you... it's because of all the love and light you put out into the world. I know just from who you are on these boards and this thread that you give to people all around you..

And it's great that you are allowing some kindness to flow toward yourself..

Yeah, Universe!.

Kat, thanks so much for the graph. That's a great one. I've been wanting to do that but haven't found the focus to build it..

Have you done an all shake day before? I keep wanting to do that but haven't yet..

I like Hinata's idea about having a challenge to simply come and post every day. Just check in and say hello. I know that for some of us this connection being consistent might be the beginning of finding our entire OP mojo..

I woke up totally inspired to do great this weekend, and I still am. But I've had to re-arrange in my head a few times. So far, my husband is sick, which means it's all on me for the next day or two and my first instinct was to say, oh, I better just eat....

But that's not necessary..

I had to let go a bit and breath through it..

I'm also wondering if my little one is fighting whatever he has because she's a bit "emotional" today..

Oh well....

Sears guy is coming to fix my elliptical machine. Maybe I'll still be able to go sweat. (I know I can do other stuff if not, but it's my favorite, easy thing.).

Some days I just need it to be easy..

Oh boy, I'm rambling. I must not want to focus and get work done. There's just too much to do..

Hello to everyone else, and I hope we all have a great weekend!!.

Hello! It is 4:36 am here, and I am checking in! Got off work about an hour ago, and might call the family back home because it's the afternoon there..

Of course, I want to know something from y'all. It seems that every time I talk to my mom, there is something in me that makes me want to go off-program...must be some kind of freudian thing...maybe it just stresses me out, and I miss home. I'll still call, but I'll be strong, and go to bed right after so that I don't tempt myself with boredom and stress eating. Is this the case with any of you all? A trigger person?.

Anywho....

Hinata San:.

When we DO climb Mt. Fuji, you have to come to Okinawa too! Its the vacation spot of everyone on the main island. That's saying a lot. Tons of beaches, and I can take you snorkeling! You don't even know you are getting exercise because everything is so beautiful down there in our personal fish tank. They say it's very comparable to the great barrier reef in Australia..

Also, that was an interesting fact about Fuji. I'll be researching it more now because of that fact..

OH! And get better soon! I don't like being the one that spreads colds or anything else either to anyone..

Stepheresa:.

You are welcome for the graph, I hope that it gets put up in a good visible place. Keep the husband healthy, and lysol like crazy! We don't need the little one or yourself getting sick....

Also, I have never done an all-shake-day before, I'm just hoping that it will help me out this week. Of course I still had my L&G too...grilled chicken with spinach and cucumber with a delicious (low carb) dressing..

OH! And I mixed cold coffee with my cappuccino packet, and it was AMAZING. I've never done it before, and it helped me through the long night...

You know, what you are saying about your mom makes perfect sense to me!.

I confess, I didn't even *tell* my parents I was on a diet until I had already lost 55 pounds XD I have a history of dieting and of my parents, although well-meaning, butting in and sabotaging my efforts. This time I avoided that whole stress altogether and simply didn't tell them until I was solid in my plan and had the strength to overcome anything they could throw at me. Perhaps it triggers some old stresses for you too, and that anxiety is why you feel compelled to eat..

I have learned to call my parents after I have just eaten or had a large glass of water - this way even if there is stress, I am physically full which cuts down on the urge to snack for stress related reasons. Might work for you too? And I'd love to go to Okinawa and go snorkeling - sounds like an AWESOME time ^^.

Good Evening Flirts!.

Kat.

- Welcome!! I'm afraid I am one of "those" people that only posts when I am on plan (I lurk all the other times.) I had great success on Medifast back in 2006! Unfortunately, I slowly slid off plan and gained it all back, plus more. I have struggled since then to stay on plan for any length of time! And yet, I know Medifast works and it works fast (and I actually like most of the food)! It's all in the mindset! My advice to newbies:.

Do Medifast all the way through the FIRST time, including transition and maintenance!.

It is so much harder to stick to the plan the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. times!!.

Teresa.

- Great to see you here! Maintain that positive attitude! You know that is what it is all about! (Loved the pictures of your home gym!).

Hinata.

- You project such positive energy! You really are such a positive influence on those around you (and on these boards)! Feel better soon!.

My hairdresser said something to me today that really clicked! Even if I lost a pound a day, in a year I'd be down 52 lbs.! Imagine 2 lbs. a week, I'd be down 104 lbs.!! I just went for a haircut, I always request the same person since she already knows how I like it. I've been noticing much more visible gray in the past 2 years. I commented on it the last time that I was there. She said that I shouldn't color it until it is much, much grayer. She suggested just "covering up" the gray at home. (I told her that I would call her and she could do it for me the first time at her house.) Today I asked her about "highlights" and she said that those would look great in my hair (and it will blend in the gray)! I have never, ever done anything to my hair before, but I am looking for a "new me" and maybe this will help! So "highlights" next week!..

This is a process for all of us, and everyone has a unique path and challenges - no judgment here, remember that! If there is ever anything I personally can do to help you stay on track, please let me know.

And hey, highlights sound fantastic! Glad you are treating yourself. I have been gray-haired since my 20's LOL! But it is awesome - I used to dye my hair silver to match, and people just thought it was a funky hair color XD..

Love, love, love the challenges! Post every day and exercise at least 30 minutes. Got it! I actually did that every day for the last week until today. LOL Exercise, I mean. The blisters on my feet made it difficult yesterday and with all of the travel over the next 30 hours, I have opted to not walk this AM. I leave San Diego to go back to England this afternoon..

Kat.

, Okinawa is my dream station for a posting in the Pacific. I just have to convince my husband that we can go. He wants Misawa. I am a DoDDS teacher in the UK, and joined DoDEA so that I could travel..

Glad to see another military dependent in the.

Go Flirts! I have been learning about new teaching techniques for my middle school students. It has been a long week, and I truly miss my DH. Can't wait to get home....and back to a routine!.

Dearest.

Flirts.

, I have managed to remain OP with only one transgression last night involving chocolate. LOL I do not care for sittiing in a hotel with nada to do! When I get home, I know I should wait to weigh for a few days until the water retention from the travel abates so we shall see how badly I have transgressed....until then, I am just going to go with the flow and do the best that I can! I managed to up my exercise to three miles a day in the hotel gym. I am not much of a runner, but it makes me more energetic through the day and "looser"more relaxedat the same time. I think it helps me deal with stress..

Mary.

, I am 50 years old. I say this because I love my highlights! I have both high and low lights added to my hair so that the gray blends right in. I think my hair looks pretty darn good for an older woman, and is easily cared for. I chose to treat myself to a touch up for Mother's Day (in the spring), and my birthday (in the fall). The time to sit in a beauty chair and have magic fingers massage my scalp, shampoo, style, etc. is just the boost I need on those days when I see the birthdays add upand don't hear from those DSs and the DD.

Teresa,.

I prefer working out at home. I like to get up, get sweaty, shower, dress, and get ready for work. I don't want to go someplace else to do it, because I know I won't. I make excuses. With the treadmill right there in my home, I have no excuses. LOL It works for me.

I would start by myself, and others would show up later. That would be about the time I left. I just don't do well with others in the room. Not yet, anyway..

I hope my DH will help me with getting over that in the future as he also plans to spend some time in the gym. We shall see..

Lia.

? Where are you my friend?.

Hinata.

, I took a two hour tour of San Diego yesterday. What a beautiful city this is. I wish I could have seen more than the convention I was in. Today will put me in LAX for a few hours, than home to London. I am sad that I did not get the chance to meet you in person, but love that I have had the chance to get to know you here. Good afternoon Flirts!.

Ugh, still sick, and on such a beautiful weekend too. I hate being ill on the weekend as it is my only free time in the week to just relax and loiter about. Nonetheless, I did manage to haul myself to the gym this morning and get in my weight training/core stabilizing routine and some cardio. I was starting to feel really poorly do had to stop short of my normal amount, but at least I went..

UKB:.

So glad to hear from you, and that your conference is going well. Indeed, San Diego is lovely, but I'd take London any day, in a heartbeat lol. Speaking of London, I might be over on your side of the pond in October for a convention. If so, we'll definitely have to meet up and have lunch. Would be fun! Have a safe trip home and congrats on sticking to your exercise despite being away from home - well done!.

Hope everyone is well and having a fantastic weekend!.

Well, I feel like my cold is subsiding which is good news, but I am still behind at work. Ugh, I try my dead-level best to stay on top of things, but each day brings me more projects. Guess I will have to put in extra hours this week to try and catch up..

I went to the gym this morning again, and man, am I sore. Last week my gym buddy added tricep curls, chest flies, pelvic bridges, and calf raises to my routine. As well, I bought adjustable weights to add the amount of weight I am lifting. Seriously, I am so sore across my chest and in my arms I can barely put on a bra. How lucky to be a man and not have to worry about things like being unable to sit down to pee if you overexerted yourself doing squats, or being unable to put on a bra because your arms are so sore they cannot do the clasps! Well ladies...it was a bad day for me. I am still checking in today though, so that counts for something!.

I was invited to a going away dinner at chilis. Managed to stay on program the whole way through with encouragement from a few of the girls that were there, and choosing to order the same thing I did, even though they wanted their favorites there..

Then...I chose to bring home my husband some fries and burger. Now, it's a long way home, and I had a few fries from the box..

That WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN! I feel terrible. I can really feel the salt content, and my stomach hates me right now..

I really wanted to lose 3 more pounds this week...now I'm afraid that I might have to kick myself back into ketosis. I weigh in on thursdays...I am usually a daily weigher, and only record on thrusdays, but I REFUSE to get discouraged if I see the number up instead of down...or at least at the same number as last time..

I'm gonna get my last meal in, drink my water, and start tomorrow anew..

Thanks for listening Flirts!..

Kiyomi San: Sometimes we learn more how to stay on plan from making a bad choice than we do from never having faltered. That feeling of bloating and stomach upset are an excellent reminder of why eating healthily are crucial for your body. You have gotten a great hands-on lesson about the importance of staying on your plan and have a new determination to do so! As long as we learn, nothing is a wasted opportunity..

Domo domo domo Hinata San!.

This was certainly a lesson..

It motivated me to get out the pill box, and fill it with my calcium, fish, and multi-vitamins. A challenge to myself to take them all this week, because I am forgetful. It is up on magnets on the fridge with my graph, and a picture of the elipitical I want to get (a $599 investment). Just haven't figured out when I'll get it, I know it will be a reward/ early christmas present for me!..

Good morning,.

Flirts.

!.

0300 here in the UK and my internal clock is all over the place. LOL I don't think my body knows if it is coming or going right now. DH is upstairs trying to get some much needed rest. My flight ended up being delayed two hours and I had no way to get in touch with him to let him know. He sat at the airport for the entire time waiting, then missed me when I came through the gate as he was trying to call my cell phone which I had not pulled out of my luggage yet and did not have on..

I finally pulled it out on the other side of the lobby, gave him a call, and got a public hug from my undemonstrative other half due to how much he missed me and was glad to see me......made my day, I can tell you!.

My soft serve ice cream and pancakes arrived while I was gone. I am so excited to get back OP and going this week..

Elaine.

, thank you for the kind words. I try my best to begin each thread with something that will "flavor" the month in a good way. The tone, my voice, however you want to call it, is (I hope) reaching out to others and helping them to reach out to us..

Kat.

, the challenge that you suggested to speak up each and every day and exercise thirty minutes each day is a good one. Being honest each of those days is also important..

I will tell you that I was NOT OP on my travel days. I didn't even try. I knew it was going to be a problem, so chose to concentrate more on getting from point A to point B and less about how much water I drank or what food I could eat. I hate intensely having to ask someone to get up so I can go to the restroom, so did not drink as much as I should have. Not drinking the water made all the junk I ate even more problematic. That was yesterday.

I am so ready to be OP! LOL To give my body a chance to adjust to the time zone and my water intake again, I think I am going to wait until Thursday morning to weigh in. I know that I bloated up quite a bit on this last flight. LAX found me in the restroom looking for personal hygiene items as TOM struck.....my ankles were swollen bigger than my calves by the time I reached London..

My mouth is dryer than if I had swallowed a roll of cotton, eyes are gritty, sinuses acting upbut I am HOME, happy, and looking forward to an OP week!.

Teresa.

, like you I am not thinking about this as starting overjust continuing on the road to success that I know we are traveling together. I hope you and the little princess are doing well..

Lia.

, please check in?.

Mary.

Hinata.

, I am going to the gym this morning to meet with a group of my students. While I am there, I am considering talking to a personal trainer about setting up a program for me. I don't know yet how far I will go with it, but think I may be ready for the next step. At this point, it is just talking...and we may NOT click...but you have set an example for me that I hope I will manage to follow. We shall see..

For now, I believe I may go back to bed and see if I can manage a few more hours of sleep. LOL.

Ohio Flirts! (Morning!).

Uk, I'm so glad to finally meet you! That hug from your other half must have been nice after all the travel and the delays! You'll never take for granted your bed or own shower again I bet! Thanks for the "flavor" of the day, it was a really good thought and I'll carry it with me today. It was not my idea to check in and do 30 minutes of exercise though, I believe that was Hinata-San..

Speaking of exercise...I am not officially in the 3rd week yet...BUT I do some cleaning around the house, and walk around my work place more than anyone else. So when I do start exercising, I'll be sure to let y'all know that I did it. I'm considering going to bed in my workout clothes, so that when I wake up I don't have to rummage to find what I want to wear. Right now it looks like a typhoon outside, and it has the past couple of days, so if you don't hear from me look on the weather in Okinawa and see if we have blown away. I'd rather have tornadoes (less chance of getting hit) than one big typhoon taking our power and water supply with it. Good thing with this program, I'll always be able to prepare my meals, even during an emergency situation!..

Good morning Flirts!.

Hope everyone is doing well, and off to a great start for the week! I know that I am *really* going to have to double down my work efforts this week to catch up on some important tasks. I was trying to catch up last week when I got sick, and it just knocked me back further behind. Going to have to really put in serious hours this week and get everything sorted..

It is interesting to me - I used to live for work, seriously. I don't have a family or children or many friends here. For over 4 years my main priority has been work - all day, all night; morning to midnight, just working. Since starting this diet and weight loss plan, however, my priorities have dramatically shifted. I no longer focus on work - my focus is my life and my health. It is on my mind all day and night - how can I improve myself, how can I help others improve, etc.

People used to tease me about not having a life because I was too focused on work; now I feel too focused on building my life that work has slipped a bit. I need to find a balance, but it is tough..

And as crazy as it sounds, my career goals are changing too. I really feel compelled to finish this journey for myself, and become as healthy and strong as I can, so that I can turn around and help others. I am not sure though - is 40 too old to be a fitness trainer or to become a PE teacher for kids? Regardless, I feel like I need to help others get out of the darkness of obesity and into the light of health..

UKB:.

Glad you got back safe and sound! Congrats on going to the gym even if you were feeling a bit intimidated - excellent progress. You know, I used to hate going to the gym when other people were there - I felt so awkward and incapable. It can be a daunting prospect to be sure, but I have found that over time, I don't really care anymore how many people are around. I have my fitness mission and focus solely on myself and what my trainer tells me to do each week. It gets easier over time to tune out the insecurities and concentrate on your workout - the key is going and continuing to go no matter what you are feeling. As for the trainer, great idea! Make sure to find someone you are compatible with, and whose training philosophy resonates with your own.

Kiyomi San.

: Eep! No typhoons! Hope the weather is good for you, and no emergencies occur. I can only imagine how scary a typhoon would be - I grew up on the Gulf of Mexico near Galveston, so my experience with hurricanes is enough to tell me that facing enormous walls of water is *not* a pleasant experience. You just be safe ok? As for the elliptical machine, that sounds like an awesome present! You will learn to love them, I swear! Besides, ellipticals burn twice what a treadmill does, so they are great for fat loss..

Mary:.

How goes it my friend? Get those highlights yet? I am dying to hear how your hair turns out. I bet it will be fabuous..

Elaine:.

Hope you have an amazing OYP week - keep going, you can totally do this!.

Teresa:.

Hope all is well in your world! Still finding time to exercise in that fabulous gym of yours I hope. How's the new business going? What an exciting time for you! ^^.

Holy moly! I just weighed myself and I am 191! I am no longer "obese" but only "overweight"! I realize that BMI is not a great indicator of overall fitness and must be taken with a block of salt, but still, it is an awesome feeling. I have never been more happy to be called "overweight" in my life XD.

Well ladies! I'm feeling FANTASTIC today. It has been a nice relaxing day so far, I got tons of sleep, and it's only going to be a 6 hour night tonight while I am training someone at work. Then I have 2 whole days off to get my house together (great exercise here lol), and it means that I won't have the temptations that are at work!.

So far today I've had an orange creme shake, and a carmel bar...tonight for the lean and green (that I bring to work) I'm having halibut, spinach, and cucumbers. Mix it all together and it looks amazing..

I don't have much to write today, I'm going to hop in the shower!..

Good morning.

Flirts.

!.

It is 4:45 am here and I am about to head out to the gym, but I wanted to stop by and say hello before I did..

I had a realization about one of the reasons going to the gym and building a routine is really helping me lose weight faster. I thought I'd share it with you!.

One thing I have learned is that trying to reach lofty fitness goals is really helping me stay on plan with my food. If I want to achieve these physical feats, I have to maintain great eating habits or else I will be unable to do anything. I work every day to push myself a bit further with my workouts - slow and steady, literally, wins the race..

More importantly, focusing on being able to move or do physical activity takes a lot of my mental attention off of food and eating during the day. I have found, for myself, when my mind is consumed with asking "What am I eating?", then thoughts of food are the main things in my mind, and it actually makes it more challenging to stay on my plan because I am training myself to think about food. When I focus my thoughts on "What am I doing?", then I tend to think more about exercise and motion during the day. Thinking less about food and more about physical ability helps with cravings or going off plan..

Just thought I would share this insight with you - take it or leave it as you see fit ^^.

Hope everyone is doing well and that you all have great days on your plans!.

Last week in San Diego, walking three miles in forty-five minutes was absolutely no problem. This week, walking two and a half hurt. Part of it is the moisture in the air, I think, as it is making my joints ache especially my hips. I haven't given up, just trying to walk through the pain..

Good evening,.

Flirts.

, and my day has been OP thus far..

How about yours?.

Sony.

! Great to see you, and so glad you made the hop. I do my best to keep each month fresh. I am grateful that.

Mary.

Keeps them all connected..

Hi.

Hinata.

..

Thinking about food. Yup. That definitely is one of my downfalls. That's why I much prefer the school year when I am actually working and have something to keep my mind occupied. It really does make a difference. I like to think that school is more than work though as I try to set a good example for my students with service to the school and our community at large....in addition to speaking up for my students when they need an advocate, being a peace maker with my peers, and just generally being a friend to those in need.

I have been fortunate to discover the support I need right here when those moments happen. Those of us who have been here a while (.

Teresa.

,.

Lia.

Elaine.

), and also those who have joined in the interim have formed a tight knit support group benefitting us all. Thank you. that's for being here, having great quotes, sharing the ups and downs, and sticking with us through it all..

Afternoon!.

Yesterday I felt amazing, today, not so much. Just because I hoped on the scale, and no change in weight, still at 217 from last week. BUT I am also feeling bad, because I'm constipated. Sorry if that is TMI, but this has never happened to me before. This could be why I'm getting all my healthy fats in, taking my vitamins, and definitely drinking my water..

I'm soooo glad today is a night off for me. Gives me a chance to clean the house, do the laundry, and have a nice and hot lean and green with a real plate, and no tupperware. I swear, that while I am working, food gets mentioned every 30 minutes. They get mad that I don't want to order with them, or take a piece of cake to my desk, or even drink a coke! I have decided that I will watch them get fat, while I shrink, because of how unsupporting they are!.

Anyway....

Lainee-.

I am in Tokyo's Time Zone, which means that from central time I am 14 hours ahead of the states. If you ever want to know what is going to happen, I'm in the future, so I can tell you the lottery numbers if you want LOL..

Hinata San.

-I neglected to say CONGRATS on the BMI chart telling you that you are no longer obese. Sure, like you said, it's not a great indicator of overall health, but holy cow omedeto gozaimasu! Also, you really hit the nail on the head about focusing on "What am I doing?" I feel the same way, but never put it into words. But for me, it's work that I think about. I think about work, keep my head in the game there, definitely keeps my attention in a non-food direction..

Mary.

- I have determined that your new hair style (which we have yet to see!) is so amazing that you are using it to flirt 24/7...get on here and show us! I love a good idea for hair styles. I have 2 colors in my hair, red and brown, because I don't like being blonde..

UKB.

- I'm proud of you, walking through the pain like that. Soon, the pains might go away as the weight does. Plus, 45 minutes and 3 whole miles? My gosh! I bet you slept well that night!..

Good morning Flirts!.

Just stopping in before the gym to say hello! Hopefully I can get to the gym before this other guy does. He always takes my favorite elliptical machine and stays on it for an hour, lol! It has become an early morning test of patience to use the other machine until he leaves. Worse, he doesn't wipe it down with disinfectant afterward - I hate that! If you are going to use common equipment, you should sanitize it after so the next person doesn't have to get covered in your sweat. Manners elude some people I guess....

Anyway, good news on the weight loss front! This morning I hopped on the scale and I am at.

189.

Hooray for a new decade! 30 lbs to a healthy weight, and 43 pounds to goal. I am so excited and pressing on..

On a side note, I think my gym friend probably won't change up my routine too much this week - I am pretty challenged to complete what he has already given me. That alone takes me 30 mins, then I have my cardio afterward. We shall see however! I do think I need to add more weight to my presses/curls since 10 lbs is starting to not feel as challenging to my muscles. It is so neat - I am starting to see definition now in my arms. Just little muscles, but they are getting a shape to them! How nice it will be not to have flabby arms XD And I do believe that this training is really upping my metabolism and helping me drop weight more quickly than before..

Kiyomi San.

: Ohhh, 2 days off to get organized sounds great! That is something I need to do again - my house is all a mess lol. I work so much that by the time I get home, the last thing I want to do is declutter. As for the constipation, I think that happens to most of us at some point! I have used a bit of extra healthy fat and eaten mostly non-shake foods to help relieve that. If it didn't correct itself, I have used a laxative a couple of times. Ultimately, your system should correct itself..

Elaine:.

Nice to see you! I am totally going to flirt it - you know I will! XD Congrats on the 10 pound loss - amazing! Keep going my friend - you can totally do this!.

UKB:.

Sorry to hear that walking is painful for you, but well done on pressing on through the pain and getting your fitness in. You could be very right about the moisture in the air there - when I lived in Hull for a while, sometimes the weather would just kill me! My joints and back hurt so much. I find that really good stretching helps a lot to relief some of the discomfort - maybe try that before hitting the treadmill?.

Teresa.

And.

Mary.

: Hope you are both doing great!.

Anyway, hope you all have a fantastic OYP day!.

Good morning.

Flirts.

!.

Just got back from meeting with my gym friend! I didn't think he would add more to the workout this week, but I was wrong. This week we have added upper back exercises called strokes and my core exercises are now modified to include arms. Each week he challenges me to do more, to work harder and smarter, and I love it! My posture has changed for the better, my abs are starting to get tighter, and I am beginning to get toned! My thighs don't touch - this might be one of the best NSV's ever XD I am going to have to start saving my cardio for the evenings though, since this strength/weight training is now taking me about 35 minutes to complete and I feel tired after. Oh well, as long as I fit it all into my day, I am golden..

By the way, next week I am taking a mini-vacation. Going to go see my parents in Texas. The last time they saw me, I was 263 pounds. I wonder what they will think XD.

Hope you all have a fantastic day on your plans, and have at least one illuminating moment today..

I'm just checking in really quick. My constipation problem did solve itself, and I feel so much better about that, I feel like I can eat again lol. I still didn't go off program though, and it was only 24 hours..

I was thinking about time. When I was on the program the first time (when I joined up) I lost 10 pounds, went on vacation, and when I came back...it was like I didn't want to start up again. I tried to stay on program while on vacation, but that was really hard for me when I had favorite foods and celebrations held just for me for being home..

Needless to say, the weeks went by, and they went by FAST..

I got back on program late July, and guess what? The weeks are still going fast! I feel like on my weigh in day, guess what...its not long until my next weigh in, so I can totally stick to it and lose some more! Every day I think something like "Man, thursday is coming fast, I've got to be good today!" Its taken me some time to get into this mindset..

My biggest saboteur has left the island, and I made a new friend that encourages me to stay on program (even though they don't know what I'm doing) when we go out to a restaurant! It felt great having someone order the same thing I did because they wanted to eat healthy too!.

Anyway, also I was thinking...my husband doesn't realize I'm on the program fully. I know that he sees me drinking water, and I know that he realizes that he is getting the same meal I get for dinner. I know that this will help him too if he gets the same lean and green I do, even if he eats his junk the rest of the day! I know that he sees the chart up on the fridge with my magnetized pill box...but hasn't mentioned it. I don't mind a bit that he doesn't mention it, because when I first started he wasn't supportive because he loves me the way I am, and saw it as an expensive way. He also told me "You could do it on your own, and we could eat the way we used to, and just exercise." Well, let me tell you all that this boy was in football in High School. He's always been athletic, and doesn't have to work out to pass his PT tests...but refused to go work out with me when I asked..

Anyway....

Hinata san: I sure hope your family recognizes you! Have you warned them that you are different? I hope to keep the same facebook picture up of me, and then surprise everyone when I get off the plane!.

Sony: I actually do get my medifast in the mail. I can't do the VIP program, because they don't do that for APO shipping. My aunt is my health coach, and it's a good double whammy because I've never gotten to know her too well because my family doesn't like that side of my family. Its great, she's lost 100 pounds and I get to know my aunt through this program!.

Everyone Else: Have a great OP week!..

Good morning Flirts!.

Just about to head out to the gym, but I wanted to stop by and say hello! Workout has changed some since last week. I am now adding adjustable weights to my squats, calf curls, chest flies, and deadlifts. We have also modified my ab routines and added arm movements. He also added seated rows for my triceps. At this point, my daily routine it looks something like this:.

It is getting more difficult to fit all this in, but it is so worth it! It is also getting tougher to complete, so I am challenging myself more, which feels good. When this becomes too easy, we will add more XD.

I am really excited - my friend is going to be visiting in late September and we are going camping/hiking! I haven't been camping in years, but I think it will be fabulous. Hard to beat camping in California - such gorgeous locations. We are deciding on either the Big Basin redwood forest or the beach at Point Reyes. Either way, it will be lovely I am sure. And hey, now that I can hike and be active, I can explore so much more. I'll take some pictures for you all!.

Sony:.

Glad to see you around! Hope you have a peaceful and relaxing weekend ^^ And yes, I believe that weight training is the key to my weight loss boost. Had I known this before, lol, I would have been all over it XD.

Kiyomi San.

: So glad your system is back to regular! More importantly, glad your biggest saboteur has left the island! Ugh, this is tough enough without people undermining your efforts. Stay focused and work with your new, supportive friend to stay on track. You are doing awesome!.

As for your husband, he'll come around I think! I am glad you are getting to bond with your aunt over this - what a glorious non-scale reward! You just focus on you and what you need to succeed. Congrats on the 7.6 pound loss - well done! Yoi ichinichi wo!.

Elaine:.

Oooh! The beach in Maine sounds lovely - have an amazing weekend! Rest and relax and focus on yourself ^^.

Man oh man....

We are having our power cut every other weekend here until the end of September! This sucks. Thank goodness I can grill my meals, and basically only need cold water to make the shakes, and I have the bars too. It sure gets hot in this house during the weekends...I want this to stop..

Ok then, on to the post..

I have contacted a personal trainer. She seems sincere with her emails, but here is the thing. When I originally contacted her, I chickened out and stopped writing to her. Today I wrote back, gave her all the information about medifast and what goals I have with a commitment with exercise. I hope that she writes me back...I even left my phone number for her to call me..

I know that I could just walk and stuff, but I really want to learn how to navigate a gym and it's equipment. I want to get on a machine and know what I am doing, so I don't look like the lost "big" girl amongst all the marines and AF here..

What made me want this? Something that should have taken my self confidence down. Instead it was something that inspired me to get more healthy, and when I am that hot girl, I can be a bee-otch to the type of guy/situation I'm about to describe:.

I was on my way into a club on base to help out a drunk friend. An idiot Airman said "Oh my god! Are you sure that shirt fits? God damn your big!" He got all of his friends to laugh, which I'm sure was his goal. Let me tell you, that shirt fit me, and it fits me well. My boobs look great it in, it's classic white and I wear it to work (which is where I just got off of around 2 am). My makeup looked good still. I know that he isn't going to go far in life with that attitude, and that's sad to say, because he can't be more than 3 years younger than me.

I have lived on my own, and have my life together. I hate the young guys here just like him. Just because they are "in" the military, doesn't mean they are.

Anyone.

These kids have never been to college, so beer bongs and crass behavior are their life. It makes me wonder (sometimes) what the military is really made of? Is this where our leaders stem from? I've said it already, but I'll say it again...he will NEVER accomplish anything. I hope that his superiors realize that..

By the way, once I entered the club to look out for said drunk friend, I got several invitations to dance, and lots of nice conversation..

Woah, that turned into a rant...sorry about that. Guess I had more to get off my chest than I thought...

I should put a disclaimer that I support the military, and what they do for us..

I shouldn't have made a correlation between a guy that made me feel bad, and what he is doing for our country...

Way to take a negative moment and turn it into something positive - so proud of you - you go girl!.

As for those young guys and their sexually harassing comments, they will have to learn that it is not ok to make such comments. There are legal implications for doing so, and one day someone is going to shut them up. Some young men (and women) have sadly been socialized to think such comments are acceptable and perpetrate the stereotype of the young, brainless party goer. Take heart though - not all younger military personnel are like that. I have an amazing friend who is under 30 and a sergeant in the Air Force. He would not tolerate that crap, nor would he tolerate it from any of his squad.

And good job on hooking up with a personal trainer! I know it can be scary (it was scary for me at first to commit to meeting my gym friend) but I am almost 4 weeks into the program and I feel so much better! I am getting toned, fit, and know how to use more of the equipment. I am doing so well that I have had to up the intensity of my routines by adding adjustable weights. My friend/mentor says my core is almost ready to add new movements to my routine. It is such an empowering and exciting thing!.

As for having large boobs, well, that is an empowering thing too! If you've got it, flaunt it as they say! XD You just keep being your fabulous self and it will all work out for you I am sure..

XD Please feel free to contact me about anything related to gym, and I'll be happy to help, or find you the answers you need. Just remember that a gym is your space too - own it, and use it to your advantage. This is what got me through a lot of my gym fears - mentally telling myself that I have as much right to be here as anyone else and if they don't want to stare at my fat butt, they can leave XD.

Good Morning ladies, Happy sunday everyone.

I've been busy beeing around lately between work-from-home/kids & their school/socializing/etc.,etc.,.....so glad I have this entire sunday to myself....

Hinata.

, WOW is that you???? U R SOOOO BEAUTIFUL........I soooo loooveeee your hair! Well if there is anything in this world that would inspire me in the near future to hit the gym then it's definitely you! I've always been self conscious using the gym though i've/been having membership at this beautiful posh rec center and have rarely used it like ones or twice a year!!! The reason...well...the usual....oh that skinny lady right there might be looking at my behind, oh this guy must be laughing at me when i'm huffing and puffing, all that you know.....it was never *ME* time at the gym, I was always overwhelmed as to what *others* r thinking abt me....of course that was never me back then when I was skinny and in lower 130's before kiddos....i was this super woman with empowerment......but later that innerself apparently disappeared.....

Whew.....thanks for listening....

Kat,.

Wow thats pathetic....i would just go spank that jerk right there....its sooo frustrating some people/crazy idiots doesn't realize that how much we struggle both mentally/physically with this weight and how hard we r struggling to rid it off and pass out idiotic comments!!! U r right people like that will surely have their share of hell in near future......

Well ladies to all the other flirts, have a great rest of the weekend!..

Always happy to listen, and thanks so much for the nice compliments! You cannot see how dry and frizzy my hair is - hooray for Black & White photography! XD.

I am glad that you have recognized your gym issues are in your head - that thoughts and ideas can really derail us and prevent us from doing what we need to do. Here are the keys to getting past that, at least what worked for me:.

A) It has ceased to matter to me what anyone else at the gym may think about me. I am not even convinced they ever thought that, but that I just thought they did. I let my own fears and insecurities get in the way of my exercise. No more - I own that gym now when I am there, and they can wait in line to use the equipment! I have as much right to be there as they do regardless of my size. And hey, going to the gym has opened up a whole new positive world for me with respect to meeting my gym buddy and learning weight training. I never would have met him if I hadn't gone regularly to the gym.

Besides, do you really care what a bunch of strangers think about you anyway? Nope, I bet you don't! XD.

B) You are still a superwoman with empowerment. Know this, embrace this, and accept this. Being empowered isn't about our size, it is all about our attitude. You cannot tell me that a woman who has given birth to two sons, runs a home business, manages a marriage and household isn't empowered. You are. Believe it and remind yourself every day just how fabulous and strong you really are <3 Going to the gym will only increase the sense of strength and ability that is in your head and heart...

Good morning Flirts!.

Just stopping in before I hit the gym! I have been up since 2:30 am, ugh! I am not sure why my schedule is so out of sorts - I usually can sleep in until at least 4:30. Blah! I'll be dead on my feet by 4 pm this afternoon, then the last two hours of work will feel like time has slowed down to a snail's pace..

Anyway, hope you all had a great weekend! Sorry to see so many of you haven't been active around here lately. Is everything ok? Frankly, I really hope that people haven't gone into "lurking" mode again. It is so difficult for me to support you when I have no idea what has happened to you - plus I worry that everything is ok in your worlds. Shout out if you are hanging in there!.

Aside from that, I have a date soon! How fun! At the end of September, my friend is coming to visit me from New York and he and I are going camping in the Big Basin redwoods. Sounds like heaven - a week long first date in which it is a given I will look somewhat grubby and smell like campfire smoke. No having to worry about the hair, nails, or dressing up XD I have had a crush on this person for ages, so I am nervous and excited. I'll let you know how it goes!.

Ok, enough rambling - I am off to the gym! Have a great OYP day! ^^.

Sorry, I've been so absent... stomach flu around here... We're okay, just been so busy taking care of everything and everyone..

Hinata... You are Adorable!!!! First of all, you look like you're 28. I'm so glad you shared a photo of yourself, thank you. And I'm so happy for you. I aim to feel that exercise momentum myself. Slowly, but surely.

Need to start adding that weight training..

Sony, Elaine, thanks for checking out my blog!.

And everyone... thank you so much for keeping me in your thoughts! I'm focusing on diet again this week. I had a great workout week last week and hope to keep the momentum going. Today I am derailed by feelng like I have to throw up.. oh well..

I'm doing this no processed foods week with my family, but I am also making it a low carb thing for myself. I think it will be a perfect way for me to get over the "cravings" that make starting Medifast so difficult. Then hope to transition right into a good plan for reduction. Whew!.

Kat, I'm so happy you're here and I love to read your posts. Thank you for sharing so much..

UK, I have missed you. I hope you're having a great day..

Good morning Flirts!.

Just stopping in before I head out to the gym at work. I have found that it is more quiet there, plus they have a better assortment of weight machines. Best part is that it is free for being an employee at my building - yay! I am all about the saving money these days - trying to build up my savings account as much as I can in the next 6 months since I want to go back to school. As we all know, school costs money, but I am at a point where I feel the need to get back into education because my worldview is changing and I need the education to further my career goals..

As I mentioned before, I am really getting into the emotional and physical aspects of this weight loss journey and believe that the true rewards of weight loss and good health extend so much further than smaller clothes or just not being "big". As I progress into my new, re-defined self, I am feeling more and more compelled to try and help others find their way on this path too. I am at a point where this idea of using my experience to help others who are struggling is foremost in my mind and heart. If I can help pull people out of the mental, physical, and emotional pit of obesity and into the light of positive health, it would be so rewarding. To this end, I am looking into getting my Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness. There are many great online universities to help me achieve this, and I figure within 18-24 months, I could have this completed.

Teresa.

: Nice to see you about! So sorry that you have been dealing with a flu outbreak - ugh! Hope your family gets better soon ^^ I myself have been dealing with a residual cough I picked up in Baltimore. Blah! And thanks for the nice compliment - it is weird, most people think I am about 28-30 and tend to be shocked when I tell them I am 40. I am OK with this though XD Congrats on having a good food week, and keep up the great work!.

Kiyomi San.

: Just shouting out a hello! How goes everything in Japan - all well in your world? Keep up the amazing progress - you can so do this!.

Sony, UKB, Elaine, Mary.

: Hope you all have a fantastic day! Remember to be good to yourselves, and know that you are worth the effort to achieve great health! Hope to hear from you all soon.

Anyway, that is all for now - have a great day on your plans!.

Good morning Flirts!.

Just stopping in to say hello before I head out to the gym! Lots to do today since I am leaving tomorrow for Texas to visit my family. I'll try and login while I am there, but I might be AFK until next Wednesday. Just giving you a heads up in case I go quiet for a while!.

Speaking of quiet, this thread seems to have really died down a fair bit. I hope everyone is ok, and nothing serious is wrong in your worlds. I am thinking of starting an exercise and fitness thread in the 31-99 pounds to lose forum - might be a fun way to connect with more MF'ers. I don't know - just feeling like reaching out for more support these days. As I get closer to goal, the scarier this whole process becomes, so some extra TLC might be good..

Anyway, take care of yourselves and hope you all have a fabulous day on your plans!.

, I also am at APO shipping but I am a VIP member. It works well for me because I don't forget to order! AND I don't have to worry that it will show up in time for me not to run out of food..

I do not have a health coach though beyond this web site. That has worked well for me as well. I sometimes wish I had someone a little closer....but have worked with enough people at school to know that can be a double-edged sword as well..

Sorry I have been MIA.

Hi.

Kat.

..

I wanted to come back and respond to this one. At 256 pounds, I didn't worry so much about those young airmen. For some reason, I just looked at their youth and thought of their mothers as I am old enough to be their mother. Mostly I just felt sorry for them being so far from home that they need to sit in the bottom of a bottle to improve their outlook on lifethey are homesick and still trying to find their place in the world, you know? As the weight has slowly dropped though, I have become more conscious of those snide remarks about weight and clothing..

As a retired military spouse, and as a DoDDS teacher, I can say that I appreciate your support of the militaryand I KNOW you doas well as understand your frustration with the ignorance of young military members who lack the maturity and finesse (and intelligence) to keep thoughtless, crass remarks to themselves..

I am still old enough to be their mother, but young enough to crave a compliment on occasion. I still avoid the gym. Yes, it's free. Sure, I could get a trainer for 40 or 50 an hour. My emotions are everywhere. My DH is worried.

Here's the silly part. I don't want to go to the gym because they don't know how far I have already come. I know that is an awful excuse...but until I can work it out in my own head, I know that I will not follow through on the good examples you and.

Hey Flirts!.

Just checking in. The personal trainer that I contacted is meeting with me on Saturday to talk about what goals I have, and what Medifast is and how it might affect what I can do. I've made it pretty clear that I want only a few sessions, to learn my way around. She is charging $30 an hour, and because I am limited to 30-45 minutes of activity, I'm going to include some good stretching exercises for the first 15 minutes (but I'll talk to her about that)..

Honesty is the best policy right? Well...here it is. I had a bad couple of days, I'd be OP all day until the night time. Today is yet another new day for me. Because of those bad days, I didn't lose any this week, so next week be prepared to see my first 10 down and out of the way! I want to be 213! I know that I want goal in the big picture, not sure if 122 is even possible for me (BMI isn't that good), so I think that I might change my goal to 145 or 130..

Want to see the goal outfit I bought? It was expensive, and some may think it's silly to do that, but I wanted it, and I knew if I didn't get it, it would be gone....

I want to wear it to Las Vegas when I visit family there, and go to a real club! Like the one at the top of the Palms. Gotta do it, it's going on the bucket list. I got it (the dress, ring, bracelets, earings, jacket, and some sheer leggings) in a size large, which is the biggest size on the site. Its supposed to be a 12/14, which I'm hoping will be do-able for me, esp. since I have no idea how small their sizes actually run. It will be hung up in our bedroom where I can see it, like a shining beacon.....

Not "goal-goal" outfit...just when I can fit into it! I just wanted one pretty thing. My mom called it "Sexy" and my aunt (not the health coach one) said my husband would never recognize me!.

Good morning Flirts!.

Just stopping in before I hit the gym here in Texas. Wow, I had forgotten just how hot and humid it gets here. The air kind of sits on you like a blanket. Makes everything 5x harder to do. Oh well, I do like a challenge! Not sure what equipment they have here, but I am going to check it out. There is a Family Fitness center down the street from my parents' house so I am going to see if they will sell me a 1 week pass to use the facilities.

No excuse not to move, right?.

I met with my gym friend yesterday by the way, as I do every Thursday. He says I am progressing excellently, and upped the intensity of the training as well as adding more moves. At this point, I am doing so much I have to split my workouts - upperbody and core one day, then lower body and core the next. My arms are sore from the new tricep extenstions, but that is OK! Sore is good; sore is growth. I can deal. Besides, as fate would have it, he is an avid surfer! At some point, he can teach me how to surf! How awesome is that? VERY AWESOME!.

Anyway, hope you are all well. Yes I am on vacation, but keeping in touch with you all and helping you stay focused and motivated is a big priority in my life, so it would be remiss not to check in when I am able. Hope you all have a fabulous OP day, and a great weekend!.

Kiyomi San:.

Awesome dress - and so important to have a tangible goal! Whether that is an item of clothing, a picture of something you are focused on obtaining, etc. it really helps to motivate you and help you stay the course. You will rock that dress, so keep going girl! Did you know that I carry a picture of Mt. Fuji in my wallet at all times? Whenever I get tempted to eat off my plan, I meditate on that image and remind myself of my goal. "What do you want more - this doughnut or to see the sun rise over Japan from the top of this mountain?". It keeps me on track everytime.

Congrats on meeting with the trainer on Saturday - so proud of you! Just remember that as you add exercise, you might initially go up a few pounds from water retention and building muscle. Don't panic! As you continue on the exercise path, this goes away and you will start to lose quicker. Just sharing my experience since the initial weight gain can sometimes really derail people, and I don't want to see that happen to you!.

UKB:.

So glad you are back and about! Congrats on being OP for a few days, and getting back on a good track. If the gym is too scary or overwhelming right now, then just don't go. There are plenty of things you can turn into a gym in the comfort of your own home that will work equally well. Do try and own your success though - you have come so far and it is ok to celebrate this! When you do go the gym and learn the equipment, remember that you are doing fabulous, and that it doesn't matter what anyone thinks. They may not know where you have come from, but they will be able to see where you are headed! As long as the people that love and care for you know, that is enough. I am sure you will figure it out! And hey, you don't even need to pay for a trainer necessarily - lots of people would probably be willing to help you learn the equipment for free.

I will be up in Austin on Sunday though to visit my friend. I love Austin XD.

That is all - take care everyone!.

Good morning Flirts!.

Wow, I forgot how the heat in Texas just kind of sits on you like a blanket. I also forgot about having to dodge alligators and snakes, lol! My parents live in the swampy area of Texas - lots of bayous and creeks. Always an adventure here right?.

I have also noticed that working out in such hot and humid conditions is a challenge. You just feel sluggish and tired - at least I do, probably because I am not used to this level of humidity. I have been spoiled in my NoCal home! Regardless, I did get a week gym membership to a local fitness facility, so that is good. I met a nice lady there who has also lost a lot of weight since January. We had a great conversation about the challenge of getting fit - it was nice to talk face-to-face with someone who can relate to having a lot of weight to lose. I am going back today to the gym, so maybe we will have more conversation then..

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend and sticking on your plans! I am just trying to avoid Chik-Fil-A XD.

Sony:.

My parents didn't really recognize me, to be honest. I was standing there and they kept looking around for me, and I just watched them looking for me. Finally my mom was like "Oh my God - there she is!" Kind of scary to realize that weight gain can so deform your appearance that your parents might not recognize you when it is gone. But they were happy, said I look terrific. My mom said she didn't think I needed to lose more, but I told her I do, and that was the end of that discussion. She also said I had no boobs anymore XD LOL! I told her having a DD cup is hardly not having boobs, but who cares, because I am buying new ones at the end of this anyway haha!.

Kiyomi San:.

Glad you had an awesome day - keep up the excellent work! ^^.

UKB:.

Hope that you are less stressed soon and will be back on a good sleeping schedule. Take care of yourself ok? We want you well, healthy, and happy!.

Wooooo! I hope everyone is having a great week!.

I'm starting (with my trainer) tomorrow at the gym. Man, does she have the strongest handshake I've ever been given! We talked about goals, she is going to take my before pictures for me, and we will do measurements once a week. We will meet most likely 2 or 3 times a week, and she gave me suggestions on my "homework" for my own cardio routine..

We will start with upper body tomorrow, she is going to teach me about the 3 muscles in my shoulders. We have a lot of work to do, and I appreciate her coming to my base to do this, because she lives on another base on this island..

I told her all about the program, and she thinks that it seems like a good fit. She wanted me to eat a piece of fruit and some breakfast one hour before. I am going to eat half of my L&G and my oatmeal before hand..

She is about my height, and is super toned. She trains like 3 other girls, I hope to meet them sometime...

Yesterday was super busy, and I definitely have my work cut out for me..

Lunch was at 1600 simply because I forgot to eat! Today should be a little better. We shall see..

I had the coffee softserve for the first time last night. It was okay. On the pancakes, I like the plain better than the choco chip due to the chips kind of grouping together rather than being spread out over the entire pancake..

Kat.

, today is the first day with your trainer. I hope it goes well. Our gym (trainers) is on a separate base from the one where I work. Yes, there is a gym here, but we may only have a trainer at the other base. I wish ours were interested in traveling over here. There are fewer gawkers here and it would be much easier to convince myself to use this one.

Just got back from the gym, and waiting for my chicken noodle soup to cool so I can eat it..

I feel good, not shaky, but the trainer said that today was an easy day to see where I am at physically. I only got light headed ONCE during my last crunch on the ball thingy..

She taught me a lot about the machines, adjusting them to my height.....

We did a 6 minute warm up on the elliptical...legs were kinda...springy after that. Then we did shoulders, hamstrings, back muscles, and leg press. Then the crunches. 3 sets of 12 each...then a walking tour around the facility..

I go to work in about an hour now, and I might do some walking during my break. Its better than sitting and watching TV! I can eat my lean and green while I'm working on the computer, an advantage to working in the vault where no customers can see you...

Good morning Flirts!.

I was away in Austin for the weekend visiting an old friend, and couldn't get to the computer until now. Eep! I have known my friend for 37 years, so not seeing her was not an option. We walked around and then went to a coffee place. So much to catch up on!.

It was hot as hell here this weekend by the way - think I have a mild case of heat stroke. On Sunday, it was at least 117 degrees coming off the pavement as we hoofed it around Austin. Ugh! Haven't been feeling myself for a few days though - not hungry at all and eating anything is a huge challenge. All this plus PMS time - who knows! I tried my dead level best to stay on plan or very low carb if I couldn't make a shake, so we shall see when I get home how well I have fared. Looking forward to being back though - I want to get back on my routine. I've been eating pretty well here and going to the gym, but I still feel off from my regular schedule/patterns and I don't like that.

Anyway, hope you are well! Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I go home today and will stop by here before going to bed to do individual shout outs. Be well.

Hello everyone, have been really busy for the last couple of days, tomorrow is DH's b'day so planning on a surprise party for him....we'll see how it goes.....

As per my OP ness, I have been really falling on and off the wagon, at this point it's getting really stressful, boring and frustrating, no matter how hard i'm trying to stay onplan, by the time it's evening or later, things start to fall apart, I bet it's stress related, i'm always running behind something or the other round the clock, whether it's my work, chores, kids, their schools plus homework, cooking, groceries, cleaning, etc., even DH is not contributing that much nowadays since he himself is caught up with a lot at his office, he comes late so often nowadays and so even I don't feel like keeping any work pending for him anyway.......Oh well enough of my whining....

Hinata,.

Glad to know you r heading back home today, nothing feels better than our own lil place and sleeping on my own bed right???.

Anyway, yesterday I did not forget to eat and still managed to take off a pound or two (remember I am a daily weigher). This program works. We just need to remember to stick to it..

Hinata.

, so happy you made it home safely. My sons live in Killeen, TX just north of Austin. My DH's ex wife lives in Houston.....

Good morning Flirts!.

Just woke up and am about to head back to my gym! Looking forward to getting back into my routine with no deviations. Hopped on the scale this morning, and am up 2.5 pounds. Between the trip, PMS, an off-plan meal, and mild constipation, I am not at all shocked by this number. This is nothing a week of good exercise and food planning cannot get down so I am happy about that. Onward I run!.

Kiyomi San.

: Congrats on meeting with the trainer and having your first lesson - well done! You should feel really proud of yourself. Getting out there is the worst part of the whole process - once you have that done, the rest will fall into place. Slow and steady wins this race, so just keep going, growing, and learning! Excellent work! And congrats on the weight loss too - so proud of you! You are doing this!.

Sony:.

Indeed, our moms sound very similar hehe! My mom said she thought I didn't need to lose anymore, but I told her I did, and so that was the plan. She could hop on the band wagon or not, but saying that again was not an option. At least she respected my decision to continue, and didn't raise the subject again. I still think it is funny she didn't recognize me. I can only imagine 30 pounds from now - she'll recognize me less LOL!.

As for the evening challenges, I hear you on that! Evening is the most difficult time of day for me too when it comes to eating, especially when you have a lot of stress. Are there any activities you can do to extract yourself from that situation? Maybe go for a walk, take up a hobby that requires using your hands? Take an hour to do some breathing and relaxation exercises? Keeping myself busy in non-stressful activities really helps. I am sure you will find something that works for you too! Keep on going - you are doing awesome!.

Elaine:.

Welcome back and thanks for the kind words! Sounds like you had an awesome vacation - so glad to hear that! And I am so very proud of you for being OP for three weeks. That is AWESOME! You should be prouds of yourself too - well done! Keep up the excellent work! ^^.

UKB:.

Glad to hear that your new schedule is going well, and that you are back on a good path - that is excellent news! Indeed, it is a small world! I have been to Kileen often as we have cousins there, and Houston is my home town. As for England, I am often wont to be loitering about London every few years to visit my friend. I am confident our paths will cross at some point in the near future, and then lunch is on me! Keep up the awesome job staying OP ^^.

That is all for now - have an amazing OYP day everyone!.

Thanks.

, yes I do feel that I should indulge in some sort of activities that can keep my mind away, I love reading books and have stopped doing that since few years now (yes kiddos...), in fact I have ordered few books from Barnes & Nobles and got it last week, now if I can get some quiet time to start it!!!.

Awesome job.

That and feeling kind of sick still...

I adore you all and there's been so much going on!.

I have to say, Kat, I love the dress. I know you'll be wearing it to Vegas!.

Hinata, I love your workouts. It's so exciting to think about still being able to be so strong and fit. I'm glad you got to see your parents and your buddy, and I'm glad you're home..

Sony, thanks for the support. How are your kids handling school? I totally know what you mean about wanting to just go to sleep at 6! Sometimes, when I'm not eating well.... I just wait for Melody to go to sleep so I can eat in peace. That's a bad habit, I'm mostly breaking..

Good morning Flirts!.

Just checking in before heading out to the gym. Today is the day I meet my gym friend, and I fear he is going to kick my butt this week! Although I went to the gym in Texas most days, the weight training portion wasn't the best, so I am not expecting to have much progression this week. Oh well, I did what I could. I am going to ask him if extreme heat and humidity affects working out because I couldn't do as many reps there as I can here. Same thing as when I was in Baltimore. I wonder what the impact of changing climate is on one's workout routine, or if we have to acclimate to a new surrounding before we can maximize our fitness routines.

Other than this, just scrambling to get caught up at work. This is the downside to vacations - the pile of work one comes back to! Glad to have my bunny back though - I missed Nomnom! XD.

Sony.

: Thanks for the encouraging words! Scale has a 1.5 pound loss this morning, so only one more to go until I am back at pre-vacation weight - yay! I am going camping soon, which I am actually thinking will be less of a challenge food-wise than Texas. I am going to order some bars though to take with me, since these are easier to carry on hikes and backpacking trips. L&G will be roasted chicken or beef cooked over the campfire! Good luck with the party and avoiding the wine - you can do this! So glad to hear you are back into reading. We should start a Flirts book club!.

Teresa.

: So glad to see you back and about! That website sounds amazing. I do a lot of work in Photoshop, so if you need any help or editing done, let me know - I'd be happy to help! And it is exciting to thnk about getting stronger..

You know, I found that shifting my perspective on this weight loss project from one of "losing weight" to "getting stronger" has helped me immensely. I don't focus as much on scale weight as I do on muscle tone and ability now. Am I getting more toned? Are my clothes fitting better? Am I more flexible? It is so fun to see my authentic shape emerging from underneath! Focusing on this makes staying on a food plan and keeping up the exercise much easier..

UKB.

: Awesome job staying OP on Wednesday - well done!.

Keep up the excellent work! ^^.

Elaine.

: Wow, congrats! 15.5 pounds in 3 weeks is fantastic - you must be so proud of yourself! Awesome job! And good job finding a plan that works for you and that you can stick with. Well done!.

Kiyomi San.

: Just saying hello! How are things going for you? Hope you are having fun learning the workout routines with your trainer. You'll be in that fabulous dress in no time!.

Have a great OYP day ladies!.

Good morning,.

Flirts.

,.

Thursday was not so good for me, I am sad to say. My coworker was upset that I had "taken" some of her classes (not my decision) and vocalized about it. A peer took the matter to my boss and I was called to the office numerous times over the day to deal with changes to my schedule. I am now teaching something else so my coworker can have "her" classes back. sigh. I reached out and ate things I should not have over the day....starting about lunch time until I finally was able to leave work at 2008 hours..

Water was not a problemdrank all of that and then somebut chocolate was my answer every time she walked in the door. When she's up, she's greatwhen she's not, I seem to scramble for some means to keep my positive outlook in the form of chocolate..

Sorry for the vent here,.

Flirts.

I promise to do better today even if I have to lock my door!.

Hinata.

, I am so glad that you are getting back in the swing. I also noticed a difference when I was in California. It was easy to walk THREE miles in 45 minutes there, while here it is more like 2.5. Could it be climate related? That would be interesting to figure out. I wonder if DoDDs would consider a climate exercise reason for a transfer? LOL.

Fifteen-year-olds are notorious for being hard-headed on many issues. When you went school shopping,.

Elaine.

, were you looking for uniforms or more like "what's cool?" If I remember correctly, the relationship between mother and son is tumultuous? This is why he lives with you, right? LOL I can imagine what the fireworks between them would have been if beloved grandmother was frustrated! And GOOD for your DS! Education is always a good thing (says the teacher LOL).

Hi.

Sony..

Over the years, it has become easier and easier to say no to the wine and beer offered by friends and family. I go and have a good time talking and visiting with them at gatherings, of course, just sans the alcohol..

Where I have to watch myself is not overindulging in the food arena..

Kim.

? How are you doing? I can so imagine you and.

Hinata.

Climbing Mt. Fuji and would love to know how it is going with the trainer. You are so lucky!.

In education, you learn a little of this and a little of that. I have experimented with Photoshop for some of my classes, as well as a few other programs. I was enrolled in a class for html stuff as well. The difficulty for me is that once the class is over, I do not always have the opporturnity to use the knowledge and lose it over time. Another sign of getting older I guess....sometimes I feel like I have forgotten more than I remember. Gray hair talking now! (as opposed to the blonde I mean.

) Anyway,.

Teresa.

, best of luck in your endeavors! As you are a lot younger than I and most definitely a brunette (snicker here), I am sure you will do very well!.

Checking in..

Thursday was not a good weigh in day, it said I was 218! Frustrating, I'm contributing it to the whole working out thing, and retaining water, and the fact that my system is backed up a little again..

Anyway, I press on..

My trainer is awesome, we did a little bit of jogging, and stair climbing. When I couldn't do that anymore (got a little light headed), we walked back and started on biceps, triceps, and very little ab work. She showed me some new moves that work my whole body, and I love stretching afterwards...the stretching, being on the floor and relaxing is my favorite part..

When I got a little light headed after doing some ab work, she let me sit down and drink water and suggested that I take a short walk with my hands on my head to get back to normal. That was just the ticket..

I lifted a 40 pound (20 on each side of the bar, that's 40 right?) doing 3 sets of 15 each. She thought that it would be too much for me, but said that I made it look easy lol..

We meet again on tuesday, and I have a list of spin classes that I can take...

Good afternoon Flirts!.

What a day! Got up early to go into work because I had a doctor's appointment with my gym friend today. He is a chiropractic intern and doing his residency. He needs clients and so how could I refuse? He helps me each week, so I can certainly help him..

Suffice it to say that it was an entirely professional exam, but it was the most exhaustive physical I have ever had. Moreover, there is pretty much no part of my body he didn't see when testing my heart, lungs, or taking my pulse in my hipbone area. LOL. Darn medical gowns! Oh well, I shall no longer have any timidity when we are doing gym workouts. It is hard to care about how stupid you look to someone when you are lifting weights if the person has just checked under your boobs to listen to your heart and lungs. Just saying!.

He gave me my first chiropractic adjustment, and while it hurt a bit at first, I now feel terrific! I am going to see him twice a week at the clinic for adjustments, and Thursdays for gym time. Poor man, he now has to deal with me for 3 hours a week instead of one! XD.

Teresa:.

Congrats on the HTML! Well done ^^ Always good to learn a valuable new skill set, so props to you! And glad you can handle the photoshop. The offer stands if you need any help - just poke!.

UKB:.

Sorry that you work with such a petty and frustrating woman. I really hate that kind of office drama. Definitely lock the door if you must. We have a punching bag at my work so if we are frustrated, we go punch it. Maybe we'll have to get you one too! Keeps the hands away from chocolate and gets out the ire! XD.

Kiyomi San.

: Awesome job on the workouts! Don't worry about the initial weight gain from starting exercise. When I started, I gained about 6 pounds, but as I kept it up, that went away and then I started losing other fat more easily. Keep up the amazing work. So proud of you!.

Have a great weekend!.

0500 on a Saturday? Ugh! I wanted to sleep in today and just can't! Oh well.....I need to begin the paperwork today so do not have a great deal of time to cruise here this AM. Morning,.

Flirts.

Not sure if it will be a good one yet..

Things are still rocky at work, but I will manage. DH is thinking about quitting though...I thought I had it rough? He has it ten times worse according to him. LOL.

Hi.

Kim.

The critical thing for you to keep track of as you exercise is your measurements NOT your weight. I hope you took original ones at your onset? Go back and measure again. For a while I was tracking weekly and could really see the difference the walking made! The water weight from tearing/building muscles can be disheartening....but those shrinking measurements as you tone up more than make up for it!.

My team is determined to keep our house healthy this year. Last year we baked cupcakes for birthdays every other month. My female coworker came up with this idea (the up and down one) and between the two of us we baked 140 cupcakes six times, decorated and delievered them to school. This year the guys on the team (our fitness fanatics) have determined we should make these treats healthy ones and have suggested broccoli brownies? Does anyone know of a recipe for that? I haven't a clue and I have cookbooks from all over the place!.

No chiropractors in the UK. Wow,.

Good morning Flirts!.

Wow, I believe that whatever my friend did to me yesterday really helped my sleep. I managed to get 9 hours of sleep - only woke up once to go to the washroom, but was able to get right back to sleep. I never get that much sleep without being sick or on meds. I feel so rested and good! Almost gym time though, so have to get ready soon..

I meant to comment in my last post about climate and exercise. I asked my trainer about this, and he said absolutely - climate affects how your body processes food and oxygen, and definitely affects how your workout will go. I talked to him about Texas, and how I was only able to do 3 sets of 8 reps of exercises, while here I can do 3 sets of 10-12 reps. He said this was normal, especially when there is more humidity. He also told me that it could take a few weeks for the body to reacclimate to normal surroundings, so just keep doing the best I can until I am back to usual numbers. So yes, it does affect our workouts, but in time, our body will adjust to the surroundings..

As for the broccoli cupcakes, I haven't heard of these but I'll keep my eye out for a recipe. I also meant to ask - did you ever find a good food scale? If not, let me know and I'll happily send one along..

I haven't heard from Lia or Mary, but I hope they are doing well. Elaine posted recently about her stellar 15.5 pound loss, so I believe she is doing great!.

Finally, there *are* chiropractors in the UK! Maybe your health plan would cover them. Here is a pretty good site to get started:.

Kiyomi San:.

Hope you are doing great! How are the workouts going? Still hanging in there?.

Sony:.

Just saying hello! Hope everything is well in your world, and that the boys aren't running you ragged. Remember to carve out a few minutes each day just for yourself to rest, relax, and recover. ^^.

Take care all and have a fantastic OYP weekend!.

Quote of the Day:.

"We choose to go...not because [it is] easy, but because [it is] hard, because that goal will serve to measure and organize the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win..
