Question I have... I'm using the diet pill Smartburn w/Medifast - but I feel bloated.? Many thanks for any answer. 2nd question I got is.. Hi,.

This is definitely an over-share, but I thought this was the place to do it. I had.

Surgery.

On Monday, and overall I think my recovery is going great. I am having a problem with one thing... diarrhea. Seriously any time I eat anything (off of my approved list) like cottage cheese or yogurt, 20 min later I am in the bathroom with some crazy pooing. I know I am expelling way more than I am taking in, which is worrying me. I've been good about getting my liquids in, but I seriously can't keep up with the diarrhea..

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any advice besides continuing to drink?.

Thanks!..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can help you..

Diarrhea can rapidly lead to dehydration, so keep a close eye on your fluid intake. If your mouth or eyes start feeling consistently sticky/dry, you're peeing less than 4 times a day, or you start.

Running.

A fever - call your doc. From what I've read (and experienced) some people become lactose intolerant after.

Surgery.

, leading to diarrhea, increased bloating/gas, and gut discomfort. You may want to back off of dairy products for 3 days or so and see if it gets better. BTW - whey protein is generally lactose free, so you could continue your protein shakes. But fluids should be your priority. You may want to get some Gatorade as well, to help keep your electrolytes balanced (you dump lots of sodium &.

Potassium.

With the runs)..

Because you are so early post-op, when getting enough fluid is all ready challenging, if this has gone on more than 2 days, I'd call your surgeon tomorrow morning..

Wishing you a more solid experience :)..

I wasnt allowed on that stuff until my 2nd week... my dr has days 2-7 clear liquids only.

Maybe it's too soon to be on that?..

As I've learned, liquid in, liquid out. Start adding.

Benefiber.

To your liquids. I put just a tsp. in each water bottle, and it helped to stop the diarrhea. I also started taking a probiotic..

Hope.

This helps...

I had to be on liquids for 4 weeks after.

Surgery.

Every time I tried something that was not liqiud (cottage cheese, egg etc) I had bad diarrhea..

Also to first week when all I was taking in was fluids I couldn't fart without being on the toilet because most times it wouldn't just be a fart if you know what I mean. I even had a few accidents when I sneezed or coughed..

This all will go away as you heal. Be very careful with what you eat. Lactose can be a trigger for diarhea also eating foods your new tummy just cant handle yet. The Medifast food dumps quickly into your intestine and causes diarrhea..

Good luck and know that this too shall pass...

Uh, lol, yes I'm sure I'm on the GBS Medifast diet plan provided to me by my surgeon. I know all plans vary a bit...

Hey, I had both plans handed to me. I almost did the wrong one. Imagine my disappointment when I realized I still couldn't eat. = )..
