First question I got is Is deer sausage ok to eat on phase 1 of Medifast Diet? Looking forward for any answer. Another question... Welcome a new year and a new you! This group is for everyone, especially those just starting out in January. It can be hard to find a place to fit in around here, so a couple of us decided to start a new thread for the newbies to get to know each other.. |

Ye, but you might want to make sure and wait for another commenter to confirm this as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you email the Medifast guys because they can give you help better...

Hello everyone. Until October when I went off to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, I was doing okay. Now for the last three months have struggled to get back to ketosis. But, today I have been OP all day and I expect to finish the evening OP as well..
My motivations are:. 1.to be healthy and off meds for various illnesses that are impacted by the extra weight.. 2. feeling better about the image I see in the mirror.. 3. shop for smaller sized clothing.. 4. be able to run in a 5k(started training and let that go in Oct too). 5. be an example to other family members that are seriously overweight.. These are just a few, but more importantly, I wnat to just get back and be in control again. Food and I have a love-hate relationship and until I learn how to deal with it correctly...I ahve to hate the thngs that are not good for me...toxic to my system for the time being.. Wishing everyone well on their journey. Collectively, we can surely help one another. I look forward to learning from others and hope that something I have to offer helps someone as well.. Here's to an OP afternoon and evening for everyone.. Celia.. |

Hello! I will be starting Medifast on January 1st! Here is a bit about me....
The Basics:. I'm 23 years old, weigh in at 242 pounds, and I'm 5'9". I live in Northern Virginia and I have a degree in Business Administration / Marketing. I'm currently looking for a full-time job!. I do social media marketing, graphic design, and web design. I love technology, animals, 80s music, and honestly I love food!. The Struggles:. I have struggled with weight and eating disorders for 10 years now. Slim Fast, Weight Watchers, Atkins, binging, bulimia, anorexia, etc. it feels like I've tried it all. I have weighed 100 pounds less than I do now, yet I wasn't happy. It is a constant struggle for me to love and accept myself. I am currently at my highest weight ever and I do not want it to get worse. I know proper portion sizes and how to eat right... I just don't. I have been blogging about my health, weight, and fitness journey for over a year now. I have not lost any weight. Toward the beginning of this year, I was doing great with a personal trainer and taking classes at the gym I was going 4-5 times a week for hours at a time! but then I had surgery and I never bounced back. I also struggle with depression and anxiety. I have various chronic problems such as migraines, GERD, amenorrhoea, and cysts (I have had surgery twice to remove infected tissue).. The Goals:. Right now, my goal weight is 175. I believe I will be happy with that, but I'll see when I get there! My other long term goals are as follows:. Completely run a mile.. Participate in 30 races before I'm 30.. Compete in a sprint triathlon.. Finish a half-marathon, preferably in 2 years.. Finish a full marathon, preferably in 4 years.. Lower my cholesterol and triglycerides to an optimal level.. Love and respect my body.. I am excited to start Medifast and I hope to feel a sense of belonging and support here. In the past, I was a Community Manager on a very large, active forum and I made some very close friends in person and online. I hope the same happens here!.. |
Welcome Ladies!!! I am SO glad to see posting and activity. It is always intimidating to start a new thread and hope someone wants to join. I believe we are all here for a reason and I trust that we have all joined here not by chance, but by a common bond and an intuition that we all need each other. This is going to be an AMAZING group!!.
I look forward to going through this journey with you and cannot wait to share our success!. Celia - I love your quotes and your motivation. Congratulations on your great success! I can really relate to that feeling of being in control and how wonderful it feels. You are doing great!. Kitteh - so glad you joined us! I would love to pick you brain and get some thoughts on social media marketing and my website. Do you have a personal website I could visit? I have battled with depression and anxiety as well, and I know that when my eating is under control I feel so much better. I love your goal of loving and respecting your body - I truely believe that until we are able to do that, we will not be successful. That is something we can work on together!.. |
Hi, I started Medifast on 11/29/10 and have been doing what I think is, very well. I have lost 19lbs to date and would love to join your group..
Goals: 1. Get off of meds. 2. get more atcive with excercise. 3. able to shop out of the normal (non-plus size) shops.. You know, it's strange. Why is being a smaller size so important? When you think about it, what is this obsession we have with needing to shop out of what we call normal size shops? What if we could be, not so thin and healthy, would that satisfy? I often wonder.. Well, good luck and hopfully you all will have me in the group.. Happy Holidays!.. |
Welcome Rosemary! We would love to have you. You have done an amazing job - what an inspiration! You make a great point about smaller sizes. I just did a really neat power point presentation for my girls at school (I teach kids age 12-17 who are in a residential rehab treatment facility) and it was all about body image and self esteem and how the media plays such a powerful role. The expecatations put out there are just not attainable. Great topic for us to discuss! Keep up the great work!..
Hi all! I'd love to join you. My name is Anna, I'm 36, mom of 2 boys (8 and almost 13)..
I started Medifast Nov 15, and am just shy of a 20 lb loss (I have .8 to go!) And best news is today I was taken off of my cholesterol meds, which was a big goal for me!!! Six weeks in and bye bye to the meds. (It took me from March to November to 10 pre medifast, and six weeks to lose double that on MF!). My dh is in Iraq and will be back in the US in March, we won't see him until April b/c we live in NC and he lives in California. This is a big surprise for him, he doesn't know I'm doing it. I hope to be under 200 by the time I see him. In June all of us (including my Mom who lives with us) will be moving to California. (another reason to lose the weight, beaches in NC are not full of nice bodies. ). Goals for this year:. 1. Exercise, get my good cholesterol over 40 (it was 36 today). 2. Feel better (already getting there). 3. Rock an awesome gown at the Marine Corps Ball in November. 4. Be able to shop in normal clothing stores.. 5. Wear tall boots w/o having to buy wide calf. 6. Find a sports hobby and conquer a fear or two!. Looking forward to getting to know you all!. Anna.. |
I am looking forward to being able to buy cute clothes on SALE! I love stores such as Forever 21, and they typically have some great deals but all in tiny sizes..
I know I'll never be a size 2, and I'm perfectly fine with that. But, being able to wear a large/medium shirt size or size 10/12 pants, or a medium/large dress, I think, would allow me to enjoy shopping again.. I'm also looking forward to building my endurance and strength. My 5K time is around 45 minutes, and I really want to get that down!. I also can't wait to not have my doctor tell me I need to lose weight.. And to be able to be proud of my blood results and how well I've taken care of myself!.. |
Thanks! :] I will send you a message with some links to my sites..
Three days ago, I increased my Zoloft from 50mg to 75mg. The first day, it felt like my veins were full of acid. :[ The past two days though, as long as I eat well before and after, I feel okay. I am nervous about Medifast + Zoloft + my stomach. :[. Congrats!!!.. |
Hi Everyone!.
My name is Barbie. I've started and restarted Medifast several times. Yesterday was day 1 at my 5th or 6th attempt to stay OP. I am really going to make an effort to make this time the successful one!. I look forward to not being out of breath all the time. Actually WANTING to exercise. Getting my triglicerides down to a normal level. Seeing the scale showing smaller numbers everytime I weigh. Being able to cross my legs. Getting off the couch without grunting. Not having a belly flap. My list goes on and on...... I look forward to being part of this awesome group! Janell, thanks for starting it :-) I was looking for a group to join that was active and supportive and it looks like I found it!. Best of luck to everyone, and I also look forward to seeing everyone's success!!. Barbie.. |
I'd love to be part of this group too! I've only been on Medifast two days, so I'm not sure I count yet...LOL..
My goals include:. 1) Normal bloodwork. 2) Losing 70 + pounds. 3) Running a half marathon with my husband (he's a runner). 4) Wearing skinny jeans and knee high boots with leggings (is that lame, or what?). 5) Having more energy to play with my kids and MAYBE having another one someday... |
Hi there! I'm on day 3 of my recommit, and would love to be a part of a group. I had great success the first time I did MF, losing 90 pounds. But in the past few months I've slipped up and I'm ready to get back to where I was before..
A bit about me: I'm 31 years old, a speech therapist by profession, working with children at an outpatient clinic. I have a wonderfully supportive fiance, and live with her and our 2 kitties. My hobbies include knitting and singing in my choir. My favorite way to exercise is Nia.. Goals for me: first and foremost, to feel comfortable in my own skin! Also, to shop whereever I want for clothes, which I was able to do until I recently began putting weight back on. Also, I'm taking a trip to the Philippines in May, and I want to look better in a swimsuit. Beaches, here I come!.. |
Hello! I love the support from the boards and feel it helps tremendously, so I would love to have another accountability group! I am Lesia, married to an awesome guy for almost 27 years, two grown sons and I work in women's health care. I haven't really thought too much about my goals other than losing weight, but I will give that some thought!.
I started Medifast the day after Thanksgiving and I am down 16.2 pounds. It is absolutely astounding to me how well this plan works!. Thanks..... |
Wow! Our group is growing!!! This is so exiting!!! (OK, if you haven't figured it out yet, I grossly overuse the !!!).
Leisa - congrats on your great loss. Andanta - Wow, 90 pounds, that is amazing! You know you can rock this plan. I am So with you on feeling comfortable in your own skin - we must be able to do this!!!. Momnon - Yes, you count!! How are you feeling so far? Any questions or concerns? The first few days are always the most challenging, so come here often for support. Lord knows I love me some boots and leggins - WOOT WOOT!. Barbie - Wow, I could have written your post, we have much in common. OK, let's start thinking about how we can do things differently this time. What happened in the past and learn from out mistakes.. Anne - how exciting to surprise you hubby - that is just awesome. I can't wait to hear all about it! You are doing great. I can't wait to help you pick out your ball gown in November - yes, we will all want to be involved. You can post pictures, it will be so much fun!.. |
So, we all know how easy this plan is to follow, but what is most important is what we learn in the process. Following the plan can sometimes be too easy and we can just fall into the routine of mixing those shakes. It is important to start working on those emotional issues and the reasons that we gained the weight. I am a firm believer that anyone can follow the plan and lose the weight, but if we don't learn some lessons on the way, we are more apt to put the weight back on..
So, if you feel comfortable doing so, you can post some challenges that you have faced in the past that kept you from losing the weight or getting to your goal. Have you lost before and gained it back? Have you figured out WHY?.. |
This is what I have learned about myself. I am afraid to lose all my weight. I am afraid that I will be different and that people won't like me as much. I am afraid of how amazing and awesome I will be at my goal weight. I am afraid that I might be vain and people will think that I am a snob. I think my fat keeps me safe.
In a nutshell, I am afraid of my own greatness. Now you may think that is vain, but I really believe it is true. I am afraid of being all that I was made to be... |
Janell, your post reminds me of a book that I read by Geneen Roth...I think it might have been "When Food is Love"...but she writes about the same kind of fear of people treating you differently or leaving if you reach your goal. For me, I think it's emotional eating. Specifically when I'm bored. And the bored eating isn't a salad!..
I have heard about the book, but haven't yet read it - I will try and find it. I am also an emotional eater, a bored eater, a happy eater, a sad eater....... I believe we really have to work at finding the root of these issues to be free of the bondage to food...

Hello ladies!.
My name is Jackie. I've just rejoined the site and plan to start Medifast shortly. I should say... restart. I have had MANY attempts at starting MF. One was really successful last January. Unfortunately I didn't stick with it to keep losing, and unfortunately I've probably gained nearly all of it back.. Of all my attempts, I've NEVER joined a group thread here. So I am thinking I better do it this time for friendship and accountability!. I'm 31, originally from NJ, have lived in Germany, am a proud Army wife, and I now live in North Carolina. My husband and I have 1 son ... he's 3 years old and an awesome little guy who amazes me daily. He has had many medical issues, numerous open heart surgeries, and is doing so well now. I've been a stay at home Mom to him since we learned of his heart defects late in my pregnancy. Before him I was working full time and soon I will be getting back in the work force. My husband is still in NJ and I'm in NC now. I was selected for a job here and am waiting for info about my start date. I'm nervous about the stress that a new job will bring. My Mom lives with my son and I right now. She's a big help to me and it's nice not to be totally 'alone' (adult-company wise) with my young son.. Soon my husband will deploy. He will be gone for so long and I've decided that in his absence I will focus on me, my health, dieting, exercise, staying busy, etc.. My husband knows that I plan to do this, and since we also plan to share photos, maybe talk on Skype if we can, etc... then he will see the changes somewhat (but from afar)... it won't be a total surprise but I'm planning on PERSEVERING and shocking him a little (and myself, my mom, etc) with what I can accomplish while he's serving and sacrificing for us.. So for now, that's it. I kind of feel like having a food party till DH leaves and enjoying things to the fullest food and entertainment wise, but part of me wants to just start on 1/1/11 and get on with it even though he will be here visiting for a few days.. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!. Jackie.. |
Welcome Jackie! Wow, you really have your hands full. I love having so many re-committers here. We KNOW that we can do it, this tiime we will do it the right way and dig a little deeper to ensure we never go back! I know I sound like a broken record, but I am very passionate about this..
I say enjoy your time with your husband and dont worry about starting until you are ready and settled. You will know when the time is right. I encourage you to come hear often and reach out - there is so much support here. I am hoping that being part of the group will make a big difference this time for you.. I love your plan to focus on yourself while hubby is gone, you are worth it!.. |

Hey ya'll! My name is Jennifer. I am a 23 year old college student majoring in Early Childhood Education. I will graduate with my BSEd in 2012 & hope to teach either preschool or kindergarten..
Right now, I work as a full-time customer service associate at CVS/pharmacy.. When I started college in 2005, I weighed 135 lbs. As an emotional eater, several stressors over the past five years (including the death of my mother) led to me gaining a whoppin' 60 lbs, putting me very close to the 200 lbs mark. It was then I decided to take control of my weight. I started Medifast in June and lost 30 lbs in a matter of months. Unfortunately, I got a little too comfortable & settled with where I was. I have since gained half of that weight back, putting me currently at 180 lbs.. My goal is to ultimately get back down to 135 lbs. But for me, it is about. More. Than just losing weight. For the past few years, my life has been spiraling out of control. When I was on Medifast & losing weight, I felt like I was FINALLY in control again. Other aspects of my life started to improve also. I made better grades. I was more financially responsible. When I started gaining the weight back, I started losing control again. I REFUSE to allow myself to get back to that point. I've come wayyy too far. So I'm determined to make 2011 the best year yet!. I am excited about getting to know everyone & making this journey with ya'll... |
Jackie.
, you and I have a lot in common, dh in the miilitary, moms that live with us and living in different places and we both live in NC. I'm so glad to hear your son is doing well now!!! You can do this. I do talk to my dh on skype daily but he an only see my face so there will be a shock. Jennifer. It's good you made it back mid regain! You can do this, we all can.. It's nice to meet everyone!.. |

Going to be different. I refuse to let another summer come around and I'm stuck in the house not wanting to go anywhere are do anything because I'm uncomfortable with my size.. My goal is to get down to about 165- 155lbs. I haven't updated my ticker yet will do so on Mon. 2011 is our year ,. WE CAN & WILL DO THIS!!!!. I'm looking forward to taking this journey with you all!!!!!.. |

These are great questions that I constantly ask myself and have yet to figure out. Why do I overeat? Why do I not make the right choices?.
In terms of weight, my history is basically that I lost 30 pounds as a teenager through natural means but then I turned to eating disorders to lose even more weight. At my lowest weight (about 135), I was not happy at all. I did start eating normally again, but I had no control. At one point, I was eating fast food daily. I gained about 100 pounds between 17 and 23 years old. There were so many times I said I would try this plan or that diet, but I never stayed committed.. When I was seeing a clinical dietitian, I remember her telling me that I need to stop looking at things as a whole and break it down more. Instead of saying, "I failed this goal" I should look at how much of it I did complete. Even if it is just 10%. If I look at things as fail or achieve, or if I only pay attention to the numbers on the scale, I WILL get back into my routine of not caring and eating whatever I want.. Lately, I have been so unmotivated that I haven't been setting goals or even trying at all. I need things to be different with MF. Like Janell said, I can't go through the motions, lose weight, and expect to keep it off.. The main two reasons I think Medifast will work for me is because 1) I'm paying for a month's worth of food. 2) more importantly, the lack of choices. I suck with moderation and making the right choice, and I believe Medifast is so strict that I will do well with it.. But, I need more reasons than just those two in order to make this a success! I have nothing in mind though.. Any advice?.. |
Hi everyone! I just got my foods today (12/29) and am excited/scared). I will start on the second of Jan. I'm trying to figure my daily meals and trying to remember how my health will improve but am afraid because deep deep down I know I am hiding me from something..
Who knows, I might figure out what I'm hiding from!. Jo.. |
Hello everyone! My name is Vicki and I reside in Maryland and I know a few of you here on these boards from my past two attempts on here. It was two years ago that I first met Janell and started my Medifast journey needing to drop 30 pounds, which I did in three months. This past year, with help from hypothyroidism, I have found 20 pounds again. Actually, I think a lot of my problem was with the meds I was prescribed. I started meds for my thyroid back in March and nothing was working or shall I say my symptoms got worse and I picked up new symptoms. Finally, last month my Doctor switched me from the generic meds to a brand name and my whole life changed.
Whoever tells you that generics are the exact same as the brand is full of you know what!. So here I am ready to get rid of these 20. Im feeling good and my meds are better. I am being strong and trying not to clean out my house by eating all the remaining Christmas goodies. I will be packing them up to take to the New Years Eve party I will be attending.. My goals for 2011:. 1. Drink more than 20 oz of water each day.. 2. Exercise at least 3 days a week.. 3. Keep a positive frame of mind.. 4. Hand over the hard things to the power above.. 5. Increase goal 2 as needed.. 6. Eat healthy at all times with off days such as holidays, birthdays, etc.. Heres to us!. ~Vicki.. |

Hello everyone, I would love to join this group. I've been lurking around the Clubhouse waiting for a new group to start for a couple weeks now as I've found it incredibly difficult to join a well-established group..
A little about me... I recommitted to the plan November 29th, after being away for a couple of years. I previously lost 45lbs on Medifast (I quit before I met my goal though), and then I let my old habits of turning to food in times of stress take over. Food has always been my drug of choice, so to speak (I quit smoking, so that's out). I use it to comfort me when I'm sad, to celebrate the joyful times, and to relax when I'm stressed out. Medifast is slowly teaching me to use food for what it was intended for -. Fuel. .. How did I get here again? Well, I lost my job of 14 years when the business closed down. I decided to go back to school to become a Paralegal (this is where A LOT of the weight gain happened) and took an internship with an attorney who really only wanted some free labor (I won't bore you with the details, but it was horrible). Then, DH and I (plus our fur-kid) relocated from California to Oregon ~ talk about stress!. Pile on some health issues, and needless to say, I gained back all of the weight, plus an additional 11lbs decided to hop on board as well. So, here I am... again.. I apparently didn't learn much the last time I was here! That's OK though, there's no failure in falling down. What matters is that we get back up, right? So far, I've lost 17.4lbs and I'm really excited to keep going.. My goals for 2011 are:. 1. Find a really good job so I can keep paying for Medifast, amongst other things.. 2. Finally finish what I started and reach my goal weight of 165.. 3. Get more active and commit to working out at least 3x per week.. 4. Learn to deal with stress in ways that don't involve cupcakes.. 5. Live with an attitude of gratitude in all aspects of my life.. I'm hoping to make some new friends along the way and I look forward to seeing. ALL. Of us reach our goals in 2011... |
Hi all! I'm jumping on this wagon as well! Thanks for starting it. My name is Lisa. I started Medifast on 10/31/10 (Halloween, I know!!) So far I've lost 24.6 pounds and I just love this plan!! It's so easy to follow, I lose weight every week and I love the new healthy dinners I'm making for my whole family thanks to all your recipes! My goal is to hit my optimal BMI which puts me around 136 lbs. I started at 229 so I'm in this for the long haul..
My first goal for 2011 is to hit Onederland. Can't remember the last time I weighed less than 200 lbs.. I wore a size 16 pants today and a misses large sweater for the first time in years!! And I didn't get either one of them in the "Woman's" dept!!! So excited about that!. -L.. |
Hello! I would love to join this group!.
My name is Sarah. I am 30 yo, single, live in Austin, no kids, but I do have a "furry" son Bosky (my Golden Retriever).. I am re-committing to Medifast after about a 1 year hiatus. The first time around I was very successful, lost about 50lbs, but last year I had some life stresses (moving, new job) and I slided back into my old habits and gained most of the weight back.. But I have forgiven myself, and I ready to restart and commit fully to Medifast and reach my goals.. Looking forward to getting know each of you!.. |
Welcome Jennifer! I am sorry about your mother, I can't imagine how hard that would be, especially at a young age. I am a teacher also.
Several of us have written about being out of control, we will all TAKE CONTROL this year WOO HOO! I am so excited to be losing with you. Isnt it amazing how everything does start to fall into place once we start taking care of ourselves and making ourselves a priority!.. |
Hi Everybody!.
I would LOVE to join this group - I am recomitting to Medifast and I am on day 3...so far, so good! I just turned 50 in October and it's as if my body just KNEW it was older...I thought I had controlled my bp with meds, until my check-up...I was taking Aleve in massive doses for months due to a knee injury/arthritis and it cancelled the effects of my bp meds, but I had no idea...so my former cardiologist (long story) switched my meds and I wound up having a horrible side effect - EXTREME joint and back pain - after 7 weeks on the new meds, I gained almost 10 pounds and felt like I was 110 years old, I could barely move.. I can't exercise (I re-injured my knee and can barely walk), so I know I have to get on board with Medifast 100%! Which explains why I have 2 tickers below, I can't figure out how to get rid of the old one! LOL. So in a nutshell, I gained back 25 of the 27 pounds I lost on Medifast in 2009, so I am back to square one. It's so frustrating!. I am looking forward to participating in this group and getting to goal and staying there!. My goals: Get off my bp meds, lower my triglycerides, re-gain flexibility, range of motion, and strength overall. Plus, I want to wear cute clothes without worrying if they cover my belly! Long term goal once the weight is off - get my boobs reduced!. That's enough for now...nice to meet everybody! Let's get skinny together!. Hugs,. Karen.. |
Michele - I am so glad you have joined our group!!! I teach kids in a residential rehab so I know all about DOC (crug of choice) and I agree that food is definately my DOC. I am also an emotional/comfort eater and eat for every emotion. You have been through a lot and have had a lot of challenges - this is your year!! I am so excited to be on this journey with all of you...
Sarah - welcome! I love that you have forgiven yourself - that is SO important!! I have been working on forgiveness in my life this past year - and wow, it is a challenge for me. Great to have you here!..
Welcome Karen! I learned a quote from my kids in rehab, "my present cannot change my past, but it can change my future". Isnt that awesome! Let's live in the present and start making some lifelong changes!..
Lisa - WOO HOO! Great to see those results so quickly!! Can't wait to celebrate ONDERLAND with you!..
Welcome Jo! Your health will improve! I have worked with many ladies who have gone off meds within the first month, it is very exciting! I would venture to guess that we are all hiding from something. Part of this journey is looking inward and working on those changes as our outside is changing. We will get through this together!..
Let me say again that I am SO excited about this group. We have a wonderful mix of Medifast veterans and newbies. We will all learn so much from each other..
I apologize that I haven't been on much today, we had family in last night to watch the Hawkeye/Mizzou bowl game. They spent the night and left this afternoon - then I took a nap! I have tried to respond to all of the new members, I apologize if I missed anyone.. Well, I turned 45 last week and tonight I went to WalMart and bought a box of bleach! Yep, I'm gonna go blonde!! I have never been blonde before, but I thought, what the heck, I'm gonna shake things up a bit!! I will let you know how it turns out. My sister is on her way over to help me out - cross your fingers for me. I have had something on my mind since I started this thread and have decided to share with you all that I am a health coach with TSFL, a division of MF. I do not advertise that I am a health coach, as some others on this site do: However, I also do not want any of you to think that I am hiding the fact that I am a coach. Some of my clients will be joining this group (Vicki is one of the awesome ladies that I coach). As health coache's, we are not allowed to solicite clients here, and that is not my intention at all. I love coaching, and I also love the support on these boards. As I shared with you already, I have put on some of my weight and I realized how important these boards are for support, encouragement and accountability. WOW, am I glad that I did. I know that this group is going to be every bit as powerful and that we will make friendship here that will last a lifetime! So, confessional is over. I just didnt want to seem like I was hiding the fact that I am a coach. I really struggle with being a coach and also struggling with my weight still. I think, wow, how can I help so many people lose hundreds of pounds and still cant gain control of my own weight. Anywho, now I feel better, I needed to have full disclosure and now I have. Yep, I'm a health coach!. Well, I'm off to blondeville - I'll check in later and let you know how it went.. Hugs to all my amazing new friends!. Oh yes, if anyone of you are on facebook, look me up, I am on FB all the time.. |
Vicki - SO GREAT to see you here. My hubby can't take generic meds either - a tough lesson learned indeed. I am glad you are feeling better and I am so excited to be losing with you again - LOVE YOU!..

Hi, My name is Tiffany. I started Medifast on Monday and it's going well. The first three days have been rough, I can't lie, but I've already lost 7 pounds! So, the proof is (NOT) in the pudding, so they say..
I'm 27 years old and a mother to two beautiful children, a 7 year old boy and a 1 year old daughter. I do Public Relations for a Zoo and I honestly love, love, love my job.. My journey is really about healthy and happiness (aren't they all).. I want to be healthy for my children. But, I also want to find happiness. I want to find the person that I buried under all this fat nearly 7 years ago, after having my son. I have been overweight since I had him. I was always skinny before...and it has been so hard.. I'm ready to quit thinking about it and just do it... |
Welcome Tiffany! So glad to have you here. Health and happiness - that is what it is all about. You are doing awesome so far - and it will just keep getting better, I promise! I saw you posted somewhere that you had tons of quesitons - ask away! I am a veteran and there are many others here who have been on the plan before as well, so I am sure we can help you out. You can always email me as well!!.

Welllllllll, today was day #1 (again) for me & it's been... okay. Lol. It started off pretty good. I had a chocolate chip pancake around 11:00 am for breakfast (Christmas break=staying up late & sleeping in!.
), then Maryland crab soup at 2:00 pm before I went to work. I am using the Medifast food I have left over from my first time around, so my choices are somewhat limited. I took a pack of hot cocoa mix and orange creme shake mix to work & planned to eat again at 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm I figured they'd be easy to make & consume while I was on the clock. Once I got to work, I was so busy that I didn't get time for EITHER meal, meaning I went seven hours with absolutely NO food. I wasn't hungry at all, but I am always worried about my body going into starvation mode if I don't eat like I am supposed to. I had my L&G as soon as I got home from work (around 9:00 pm): romaine lettuce, totmatoes, and tuna with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I am going to TRY to get the rest of my meals in before I go to bed. I'm off work tomorrow, so hopefully things will be a little more structured.. I hope all of ya'll had a good day! What are everyone's plans for bringing in the New Year?.. |
Hi I live in the Hampton Roads area ...so glad to start anew for the New Year...willl be starting on January 3rd....main goal is to get off meds...hope to be chatting with you all...Have a happ new year to all..

Hey Ladies....
I'm Jill....and I began Medifast two years ago and joined Janell's group then. With Janell and the groups support, I lost 30 lbs to my goal weight and maintained the loss for over a year. I have a daughter who just turned 4 and am currently 6 months pregnant with a boy! We are really excited to add to our family, but gaining weight has been SO hard on me mentally after working so hard to lose it!. Anyway, I might not join in too often since I'm not able to do 5&1, but I definitely plan to be back to lose my baby fat!! It's honestly the one thing that is helping me right now...knowing I have an awesome diet and support to come back to.. I wish you all the best in this new year! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!.. |
Hey Girls,.
My name is Monica, My friends call me Mo. I have been doing Medifast since 07, got to goal a couple of times and have maintained for several months. I put a few pounds back on since Thanksgiving and will start tomorrow, so if you'll have me I would love to join your group "again" Janelle, Thanks for being such a great lady and keeping the Medifast support going, Ladies if you dont already know Janelle, SHE ROCKS and is a great source of information !. Come gals we can do this !!.. |
I should probably post a little about myself too..
I will be 45 on the 20th of Jan- Hey Happy Birthday Janelle !!! WANNA/GOTTA see your hair !. I just retired (after 12 years) as an Engineer with the Fire Department, hurt my hip and back cant go back. .. I am a Personal Trainer and PT coach/ boot Camp Instructor for North Western Preporatory School (Military Officer School)I am Married to the love of my life and have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. I live in So. Cal.. I have been offered a job recently that might require me to move to AZ, but for now and my whole life I live in SoCal !. Looking forward to getting to know you all !.. |
#4 is totally NOT lame! I have been thinking of that as a goal, too!..

Good Morning Ladies! First things first - the blondeville didnt go so well. I have an appointment at a salon at 2:00 tomorrow to see what can be done. I am hoping that she will be able to take me to full blonde - as I do like the idea of being a blonde for the first time, but since my hair was so dark, I am not sure the color will lift evenly to be an all over blonde. So, I will let you know tomorrow..
Welcome to Mo and Jill - So glad to see my friends here again. I have missed being with you all.. Jennifer - get all of those meals in honey!!! It is so important. If you havent tried the ready to drink shakes, I totally recommend them. Just pop in the straw and instant nutrition - no shaking or mixing required. They are a bit more expensive (you get a better deal if you buy a case) but in my opinion, definately worth it. I LOVE the ready to drinks! We don't have any major plans for NYE, I am hoping that it will be a quiet evening alone with the hubby.. I was going to wait until the first of the year to get started back on plan, but I have decided to start today - I am pretty excited about it. At work, they are going to start a biggest loser competition, but they wont weigh in and begin until next week. Well, I know that I will lose big the first week and get a big jump on the competition (yes, I am very competitive) so I was going to wait - however - I am off the rest of this week and it is so much easier to go through those first icky days at home instead of at work - so I am starting today. Let the losing begin!!!.. |
Shannon - welcome to the sexy boots with leggins club!! I think we should all start scouting the internet for the perfect boots and post pictures...
Hey! I just noticed that I am the ONLY one proudly waving the Goal Getters banner - come on ladies, unite! Fly the banner! If you have questions about how to get it on your posts, let me know...

Good Morning,.
I'm tring to do alot of emotional, spiritial and mental healing this time around. Ever since I lost my baby girl at the age of 2, I've been on an emotional rollercoster. It's time to change. I'm so blessed and I deserve to be happy. I'm going to work Medifast this time around and not give up until I reach my goal.. With the help and support of the GOAL GETTERS, I know I'll succeed!! I hope all of you are having a wonderful day!!. Palmanita.. |
Palmanita, I am so sorry for your loss. Yes, you do deserve to be happy! I am proud of you for stepping out and believing in yourself. Here's to not giving up together!..
This was in my email this morning, and I would like to share it with you. I subscribe to TONS of weight loss stuff, especially the emotional and motivational stuff. Janice Taylor is a quirky lady who has lost weight and has some interesting approaches. These are her thoughts for the day. Let's all work to SHOW UP each and every day!.
How will YOU Show UP Today?. A weighty question, indeed!. People often ask me, "What's your secret to success? How did you manage to permanently remove (a.k.a. lose weight) over 50 pounds of excess weight? What do you eat?". Truthfully, while food is an integral consideration, the secret to my successful weight loss plan is less about my food plan and more about how I show up.. The first thing I do each and every day (ok, after I go to the bathroom and make coffee) is to sit down at my desk with one of my favorite pens in hand and write in my "Showing Up" journal.. I invite you to SHOW UP. Here's how .... Pull together a variety of fabulous pens, front fat to thin, filled with black, blue and red ink, the colors of the rainbow. And one notebook that feels right; from leather bound to a 99 cent composition notebook.. In the morning, before too much thought has flooded your mind, take a minute or two to find a comfortable place to sit, preferably the same quiet and contemplative place each day.. Take your best pen in hand (varies day to day). Bring your attention to your fingers. Become aware of the feel of the pen, relax your muscles, and carefully write in your 'best' (whatever that means to you) penmanship, connecting to each and every word "How ... WILL ... I ... Show ... Today?". How WILL I Show Up Today? is a very powerful question. There's no yes or no in it; there's no right or wrong in it. And on a subconscious level, the words WILL I ... imply that you will yourself to and you will ... show up ... today.. The writing of the question taps into your subconscious mind, which then sends the answers straight through your fingers, through the pen, onto the page. Do not think; just be present with the pen and write. Showing Up may look different from day to day and that's okay, because each day is different and brings forth different resources that live within.. MentalCISE. How WILL You Show Up Today?. "Today, I WILL Show Up with ...". (some suggestions). 1. Energy.. 2. The right words.. 3. Compassion and patience.. 4. Appreciation.. 5. Present and mindful.. 6. Focused.. 7. Fully committed.. 8. A discerning pallet.. 9. Calm.. 10. Prepared (with a bag of clementines and stalks of celery sticks!). How WILL you show up today?. 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. 5... |

I would love to be part of your group. I have done Medifast twice and both times quit after around 6 weeks. I really don't think of myself as a quitter in general in life, but for some reason when it comes to losing weight I truly struggle and I need to get into an awesome support group. I remember Jannell from last summer and she really encouraged me.... especially with the Kari Jobe CD. I went out and got it and love the "Healer" song.
Thanks Jannell! I need to place my Medifast order, but I am mentally ready for 1/1/11!.. |
I am new and will be a Mid-January starter. Like most folks I just saw the small hike in the sizes of my jeans but never felt motivated. Then my husband started on 1 Nov and lost 30 lbs in less than two months. I knew/know that his loss's are specific to him but heck,if he can do it in less than two months then I am good with doubling that if it means I can get it off. Seeing him, his happiness, his ability to stick with it in the hardest moments made me realize I am just as much that person. So I made my purchase and set a date, I didnt start right away because I knew that without a solid base before the holidays and vacation I wouldnt be ready to face them.
Here is my plan/goals:. Week 1 - 5lbs by 22 Jan (5lbs down). Week 2 3 lbs by 29 Jan (8lbs down). Week 3 3 lbs by 5 Feb (11lbs down). Week 4 3 lbs by 12 Feb (14lbs down). Week 5 3 lbs by 19 Feb (17lbs down). Week 6 3 lbs by 26 Feb (20lbs down) HUGE BREAKING POINT FOR ME!. Week 7 3 lbs by 5 Mar (23lbs down). Week 8 3 lbs by 12 Mar (26lbs down) havent been this size in 7 years!. ~~ULTIMATE GOAL 26 lbs by 17 MAR 11~~. ~PROGRESS~. Waiting to start! 29 DEC 2010.. |
Welcome Gator!! Don't be dissappointed if you don't lose 3 lbs a week. You are already a lower weight than a lot of us here and 3 lbs week after week would be a big loss for you after the first week or two. It works wonders though, as you've noticed with your husband!..
Tadcat - so glad to have you with us!! This is the year to finish what we started WOO HOO! The Kari Jobe song is SO POWERFUL! I am always inspired and moved by songs and this is one of my favorites. Let me know if you need help ordering..
Gator - isnt that frustrating!! When hubby and I diet together he always loses twice as fast as me and he doesnt even stick to the plan 100% URG! Gotta love 'em though. I am so ready for skinny territory!.. |
Thanks for the warm welcome Jannell. I found the banner and added it to my signature... now all I have to do is place my Medifast order. I know I won't get my stuff in time for 1/1, but I will be doing a very low carb diet until I get my items. I agree, THIS IS THE YEAR to FINALLY FINISH WHAT I STARTED! Thanks for your encouragement. I'm going to need it.
Hugs,. Traci.. |

Day #2 is going much better than day #1. I've already had two Medifast meals & will have my third in about half an hour. Then a turkey burger (minus the bun) with baked radishes for dinner CAN'T WAIT!.
Even though I just started yesterday, I made Friday my official weigh-in day because that will be the best day for me once classes start back. So I guess I will weigh tomorrow & see if I've made any progress.. Janell:. I will definitely look into buying the ready to drink shakes when I get my refund check from school. (I'm a poor college student, living paycheck to paycheck.. Lol.) & Let us know how the hair goes! I've been wanting to go strawberry blonde but I am trying to hold off until I reach my first mini goal so I can have it done professionally.. Palmanita:. I'm so sorry to hear about your little girl. I lost my mom last November, so I am with you 100% on needing to HEAL. I'm excited to be on this journey with you.. Gator:. I am SO jealous that you get to diet with your hubby. I live with my boyfriend & he lives off of good ol' Southern country cookin' (aka SOUL FOOD.. lol) & NEVER GAINS A POUND. He is 5'10" & 135 lbs. Grrr! He doesn't understand how hard it is to struggle with weight & food. I'm glad that you & yours can share the experience together!.. |
I agree, for me it's emotional eating when I'm bored, angry, whatever. Also in the past I would love to have my glass of wine (or 2) every evening and I am on Day 9 of no wine and realizing that that is what made me slip up a lot. I always start strong and go about 4-6 weeks and then start cheating. I really, really, want to do it this time..
Traci.. |
Janell- I'm sorry your hair didnt turn out the way you wanted.
, but so glad that you got in so quick for a fix! Sending Happy Thoughts for beautiful hair your way.. Palmanita- Oh honey I am sorry for your loss, But good for you to know that it's now time to take care of you and to make yourself feel good again ! Good Girl.!! We "all" can do this together no question... Gator- Good for you for setting your start date, I bet you'll stay focused more knowing that you have set that date and you will succeed not doubt!. Cali- WAY to GO ! on your 19 pounds , you get it girl !. Traci- Food is crazy isnt it? I mean the emotional side of it. I just love doing the Medifast , bc it takes it all away and makes us deal with our emotions ( as stinky as it can be) with having those 5 Medifast a day and only 1 L&G , it really helps us to focus on us rather than forcing emotions down with food.. Jennifer- Each day will get easier, Drink your water and make sure you get in all your meals and you'll do fine!. Did I miss anyone, If so it isnt intentional, I am trying to post quickly while dodging Nerf bullets in the house, being shot by my 8 year old son and his friend, CRAZY here, I will check back later.. Be good, and Drink that water my girls, drink, drink drink = Pee, Pee, Pee = Skinny girl jeans !!!.. |

Hello All,.
I restarted Medifast this week. My name is Ashley and I'm 30 y/o about to turn 31 very very shortly. I'm a therapist and I've been overweight most of my life. I want to be active and confident. I'm also at risk for diabetes, so this is a must for me. I like this group's name and it's what I'll endeavor to be... So my goals are:. 1. Feel confident about appearance and hold my head up high.. 2. Be active- very active and do whatever activity I please.. 3. Run/walk 1/2 marathon and run 1/2 marathon in 2 years.. 4. Hike to the Boiling Lake in Dominica, West Indies (that piece of rock beat me last time and literally I could not make it. that will not happen again. next time I go, I'm gonna conquer it!!). 5. Be healthy for myself and avoid diabetes.. 6. Honor God, myself, and my sister by honoring my bodily temple.. Can we get a summary list of all of those who have joined the group so far? Thanks!!!. Looking forward to chatting on the discussion boards with everyone!!.. |

I've been thinking a lot about my previous post. I made an extensive list of goals that make success seem more attainable..
Process Goals. Fit into old dress pants comfortably. Lose 10 pounds total (230). Lose 20 pounds total (220). Lose 30 pounds total (210). Lose 40 pounds total (200). Lose 50 pounds total (190). Lose 60 pounds total (180). Strength train at least 3 times a week after the first month. Cardio at least 2 times a week after the first month. Benchmark One: St. Patrick's Day (03.17.11). See progress; whether that be in weight loss, energy levels, mood, attitude, the way clothes fits. I should be able to look back and say I am in a better place than I was a year ago.. Outcome Goals. Raise HDL to 65. Lower LDL to 100 or less. Total cholesterol should be less than 200. Lower triglycerides to 150 or less. Get weight below 200!. Reach first goal weight of 175. Get BMI in healthy range. See a decrease in my overall body measurements. Exercise Goals. Completely run a mile. Participate in 30 races before I'm 30. Compete in a sprint triathlon. Finish a half-marathon, preferably in 2 years. Finish a full marathon, preferably in 4 years. Constantly improve my times and mileage. Almost everything on my lists are goals that I can partially measure. Like I said in my previous post, I don't want things to be win/fail with MF.. Also, it may seem childish but I plan on getting a calendar and awarding myself with gold stars for each day I make good choices and have a good attitude. At the end of the month, I can easily look at the big picture. I may mess up here and there, but overall (hopefully) I will do well... |
Kitteh.
In April my total chol was 213, last week after 6 weeks on Medifast it was 99! I need to work on getting up my good (even though the nurse didn't say that) b/c it was only 36... |
Wow! That is quite a drop in a short period of time - Medifast Rocks!.
Kitteh - great goals. I am so proud of you for taking the time to really think about what you want and why. Taking time for ourselves each day is SO important! I LOVE LOVE LOVE gold stars. I have a monthly calendar and I award myself stars, smiley faces, or whatever sticker I have for each day that I follow my plan. I also reward myself for daily Bible study, exercise and working on my to do list. I love it!. Welcome Ashley! I also think about honoring my body as the temple that God has given me. You WILL conquer that mountain this time! You ARE a Goal Getter!!. I am off to fold clothes, fun fun fun!.. |
Wow, that's great!.
Is Medifast conducive to raising HDL?. I will need to tweak my goals a little bit because I just realized my HDL is 64, LDL is 96, and my total cholesterol is 203. I will need to lower my LDL probably by 10 points to make my doctor happy.. Also, I keep forgetting that my. CRP level. Is. 17. And a normal range is between 1-3.. They know something is wrong but they can't figure out what it is. I had echo tests, stress tests, EKGs, and nothing is wrong with my heart, so that's good. We're all hoping that if I lose weight, we will see my CRP level drop. :\.. |
Hi all,.
I still need to come up with my list of goals and will post them here tomorrow. I'm so.o.o. tired this evening. But I must say I LOVE the idea of gold stars, stickers, whatever on a daily calendar. I'm definitely going to copy you guys on that idea!. I love reading everyone's ideas... it's getting me very motivated.. Hope your evening is wonderful!. Blessings,. Traci.. |
Get some rest Traci. I am a very visual person, so having my calendar with reward stickers is perfect for me. I have also cut out 3 inch stars, 1 for each pound I needed to lose. I put them all on one side of the fridge with double stick tape and as I lose a pound, I moved it over to the other side - this was very motivational and also kept me from being tempted to open the fridge and eat off plan. Every time I opened the fridge door those stars reminded me to make good choices...

Good Morning Peeps!.
Ahh, New Year's Eve - what are your plans for tonight? For those of you who are already on plan, will it be challenging to not indulge in party food and drink? For those who are starting tomorrow - are you planning a food fest tonight? My best advice is to make a plan and stick to it. Be in CONTROL!!!. A little about alcohol - if you choose to drink on plan, choose a low carb alcohol and mix with water, seltzer or diet soda. Also, alcohol dehydrates and changes body chemistry and if you have been on plan for awhile, your tolerence will be lower than normal.. If anyone needs a little extra support for tonight, let me know, send me an email! Have a great day everyone... |
Good morning Goal Getters. I've been MIA for a few days because of work, but I am here and holding on for dear life...LOL I must work through tomorrow morning to complete inventory for our stores. I will not be able to post or be here for much of the day..
I do want to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year's. We deserve as much and more.. Celia.. |
Morning hope you all have safe and OP day!.
I'm fortunate that I have no plans, with my dh in Iraq, it'll just me, my Mom and my boys (pretty much just like any other day) and then at midnight I'll be woken up my neighbors setting off fireworks.. Even when my dh is home we usually go to dinner at 6 and are home and off the streets of drunk people by 9. (Our city while smallish (100k people) has the most bars and restaurants of any city in the US). Looking forward to starting 2011 tomorrow 30 lbs less than I started 2010.. ~ anna.. |
Heh, I've been on a food fest all week long..
I'm sure I'll be regretting it when my body hits sugar withdraw. Hard. I'm going to my DH's BFF's party. He loves to cook and said he has 14 different spreads for us. Oh boy. At least it's my Last Meal!. I have a job interview today (wish me luck!) and then I am coming home to clear out my cabinets and take my measurements. I'm actually excited to start Medifast tomorrow! I don't think I've ever been excited about a diet before... |
Good Morning My Fellow Goal Getters,.
DH and my boys (11 & 8) will be staying home tonight and playing board games. I never make it until midnight either, but I'm sure I'll hear all the neighbors bringing in the New Year!. I'm weighing today and taking measurements and starting OP tomorrow. I have decided not to go overboard today though, as I, too, have been feasting for a couple of weeks now and feeling yucky. I'm sure I'm going to have sugar/fat withdrawal too.. Kitteh, good luck on your job interview. I'll say a prayer for you. I plan to write back later and tell a little about myself and what my goals are.. I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful New Year's Eve. Here's to us in 2011 meeting our goals!. Blessings,. Traci.. |
GOOD MORNING LADIES,.
I haven't had a chance to read all of your posts yet. I've had company and yesterday we went into Manhattan to the Big Apple circus. It was a lot of fun and we got to Broadway and also to see the "Big Tree," and just walked around - so much to see. I've lived here all my life and I'm still in awe of it all. Anyway, I plan to be more active here after New Years. Tonight we are going to a New Years celebration at a hotel and sleeping over so I won't be around. Like Janell said we have to have a plan and stick to it. For me, it's more of a head thing............sticking to my plan makes me feel like "skinny girl" is in control LOL.. Let's all look forward to a great 2011 - THIS IS OUR YEAR. Mary.. |

Good Morning fellow Goal Getters! Wishing you all a very happy OP New Year's!! It's going to be a quiet New Year's at my house, just DH and me ringing in the New Year in our PJ's..
Kitteh. - I hope you rock the job interview! Good luck!. Traci. - I'm like you, an emotional eater. Medifast has really helped me to disconnect with food because of how strict it is. That's why I love it. It's been so liberating! Have fun tonight with your family. Sounds like a good time to me!. Palmanita. - I'm sorry for your loss. I'm so glad you're here and I look forward to seeing you reach your goal. You have a great attitude, and I know you will succeed. Bug hugs!. Gator. - It looks like you have a solid plan in place and you're ready to go! It's awesome that your DH knows the program and you can support each other.. Jennifer. - I hope you're doing well and getting all those meals in! It WILL get easier!. Cali. - Your DH is going to be so excited when he sees the "new" you! I can't wait to hear about his reaction when he gets home.. Monica. - So you're a personal trainer and boot camp instructor?? Wow, I wish I was still in So. Cal. so you could kick my butt into shape!! Getting into a work-out routine seems to be my biggest challenge right now.. Ashley. - Diabetes is a huge concern for me too, as it's rampant in my family. I don't want to go through what my relatives are going through. I'm so grateful I have a chance to avoid that. You're right in that our body is a temple and we need to treat it as such. I'm trying.... Jannell. - I wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed your "How will YOU show UP today" message. It really made me think about how my attitude at the start of the day plays such a big roll in the rest of it. I plan to show up today with:. 1. Gratitude. 2. Focus. 3. Confidence. 4. A smile on my face. 5. Energy to walk 2 miles. I didn't have time to read every post on this thread, so to everyone else, welcome and Happy New Year!! I am very much looking forward to sharing this journey with all of you!!.. |
Okay, here's a little info about me:.
I'm 49 years old (Big 50 in April). I've been married for 24 years, have two boys, 11 & 8 (partner's in crime!). I work in healthcare. My husband and I were told after 10 years of infertility that we would most likley never have children on our own and so we gave up and I had my first son at 38 and my second at 40 (we were not even trying the 2nd time!!). I never really had a weight problem until I had my children and then I went through an early menopause at 47 and so that was horrible, but now I've never felt better with hormones, so I'm glad to be done with it!. My goals for 2011 are:. - Lose 30 pounds (it would be nice to do it before my birthdaday, but we'll see). - Have confidence in myself and not sabatoge myself. - Not quit. - Exercise. - Learn to value my body for all the things it can do, not for how it looks. - Be patient (okay this is a biggie for me!). - Be accountable here and not try and do it all by myself. Those are just a few.... I think I could go on and on, but that's the just of it. I'm looking foward to this journey with all of you. It's my 3rd time around on Medifast and I really want to DO IT THIS time!. I will update my page soon.. Hugs,. Traci.. |

Hi everyone!.
My name is Amber. I'm a restarter as of tomorrow and pretty excited. I did Medifast for the first time for 10 weeks starting back in May. I lost 25 pounds and then got a little excited about how great I felt and fell of the wagon a bit... ok a lot. The good thing though is that I don't have to wonder how I gained back weight, I sure know. I have food leftover and also placed an order for some favorites to excite my supply. It was supposed to arrive yesterday but we got a massive winter storm here in AZ where I live and it couldn't be delivered darn! Hopefully Monday I suppose. I had amazing results with Medifast and I know it works and i'm ready to go for 2011! I will make a ticker when I weigh in tomorrow morning. I'm loving the activity and energy level of this group and can't wait to get to know all of you. Janell thanks for your time and effort here, i'm excited and motivated just spending time here!.. |

Happy New Year, Ladies!!! We will have several families over tonight to play games and count down 2011!.
My goals for 2011:. *I love to entertain, so I will continue to do that knowing I don't have to eat to enjoy our time together! Every day I am reminding myself of what is good for MY body and what I am able to eat vs what is around.. *I love to cook for others. I used to be able to completely control myself on what I could and could not eat to keep my weight healthy. I have gotten extremely relaxed about that, but each day is helping me regain that self control.. *No more excuses about exercise.. *Not feel vain that I want to lose the weight. There is nothing wrong with wanting to feel and look better in your clothes!. Thank you ladies for keeping me accountable!. Hugs to you all..... Have a blessed evening!.. |

Welcome Amber! I lost 45lbs and gained all of it back. I got really comfortable with where I was at and started to rationalize the cheats. I was able to maintain though for awhile, but then I started turning to food again in times of stress. So here I am!.
Sounds like you've got the right attitude to get it done, so GO GIRL!!.. |
Thanks Michele! Yep I was telling myself as long as I go work out i'll be good. Small problem... I didn't go work out. lol.
Ah well it was fun and I suppose I don't mind doing it again, i'm anxious for results! Making my grocery list now for on the way home... |
Welcome Amber. I'm a restarter too. We can do this thing together. I will be starting tomorrow also. Happy New Year!.

I have been reading a few of the older threads and now I am really scared of what happens once you reach your goal weight. If people who cheat for a day or two gain weight quickly, and it is hard for them to take it back off, then what happens when you eat "normally" after MF? Won't the weight just come back on? I don't want to repeat the story of my life... lose weight, gain weight, lose weight, gain weight...
Thanks Traci! Hey I think our starting weight is very close and I too would like to hit around 140. I will weigh in tomorrow but I think i'm around there. Glad to share the journey with you! What's your fav Medifast food?.
Other restarters what are your fav l&g's?.. |
Amber: I like the choc/mint bar and the choc shake. I also like the chicken noodle soup, but from experience I know you have to soak it for about a half hour before cooking it. I usually add a little chopped cilantro and hot sauce to it... Yummy!..
If we're talking our favorites:.
Choc chip pancake (I put a dot of almond extract in it). Brownie (I do one a day only). Chocolate mint bars. Tomato soup made into "pizza" bread. Chx noodle soup ( be sure to soak all soups/chilis) with one cup water/one cup broth. I do not care for the Pudding, I've tried, I finally got some Medifast scrambled eggs and made it into muffins. I still don't love it but I can eat it. I could not eat it as pudding.. I like the shakes, the Dark Choc Anti oxidant shake is great if you mix it with diet orange soda.. |
I like to keep things really simple (I don't have a lot of time for food prep) and have a salad on most days (chopped spinach, chicken or shrimp, cucumber, peppers). I recently found a new salad dressing for my shrimp salad that's sooo good - Mango Vinaigrette. I think it's made by Bolthouse. When I need something really filling or I'm in the mood for a hot meal, I like to make a baked dish using egg beaters, chicken or beef, and veggies (usually mushroom, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, or peppers). On the weekends I sometimes enjoy a nice steak or salmon with asparagus. For me, it's all about simplicity and keeping it quick and easy...
Oh, yummm! I never thought about mixing it with orange soda! I have some of those shakes coming in my next order, so I will definitely be trying that...
I love any of the chocolate stuff too!.
@Kitteh (meow!) - as a restarter myself, I would say that once you're done with MF, the healthy eating and exercise should not end. I can't speak for the other restarts out there (hi!), but over time I became careless with food and the weight crept back on... |
Kitteh - NO!!! It does not come back easily. I can tell you that I have tested the waters over and over and I have not experienced a rapid weight gain. I will be honest and say that I had to work REALLY hard to put back on 20 pounds - I ate a lot and what I ate wasnt good. Please don't worry about what happens when you lose the weight - just concentrate on losing. We will cross that bridge when it comes..
As I mentioned earlier, if you do nothing but follow the plan - you will lose weight. Once you hit goal - IF you go back to your old way of eating - you WILL gain the weight back. What you MUST do while you are losing is think of this as not a diet but a lifestyle change and you must learn some lessons along the way. During your time of weightloss, take time to work on your inner self, explore the reasons why you overate and gained weight and learn new ways to deal with what makes you overeat. I kept my weight off for 2 years and not until this fall did I gain 20 pounds back, and like I said - I had to work really hard at it. During the past 2 years, when I would gain an ounce over 5 pounds, I would go back on the 5&1 for a week or two to get myself back in check. Don't let those stories frighten you - everyone is different. You can do this!.. |

Make sure you check the diet orange soda one brand has calories and carbs! Get the other brand..

Hubby and I just got home from dinner and stopped by the book store to get some movies and motivational reading for the new year. I bought a slim new Bible to start my daily Bible reading - my goal is to read the Bible every day this year. I also picked up a copy of Women, Food and God as well as the People magazine weightloss issue. Awesome reading for this New Year's Eve!! I love this time of year, reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future..
Obviously I am going to work on my weight and health this year, but I am also going to concentrate on treating myself better. Today I went and had my hair 'fixed', I am not a blonde, but a nice me brown with lots of highlights - I like it! Then I went and had a pedicure. I haven't had a pedi since July - can you believe it! It made me realize how important it is to pamper myself and treat myself like I am important - because I AM! Then I went and bought some fun new skin care products and bath products so that I can pamper myself. The lesson here is we have got to learn to love and pamper ourselves! We must learn to value our wonderful bodies and take care of them. That is what I intend on changing in 2011.. I also have a list of things I need to give up - things that basically waste my time such as mindless games on facebook and nonsense TV shows. Now, I'm not going all wackadoo and deleting my facebook account, but I am going to stop playing some of the games that I spend hours on. I can better use that time to read, journal, spend quality time on myself. Same with TV - I am not cancelling cable, but will set time aside each day for me and working on ME!. So, have you thought about what you want to change in 2011?.. |
-I want to change the negative thoughts that are like re-runs in my mind about myself, about the past 3 times I have done Medifast and stopped and felt like a failure..
-I am definitely going to read my Bible every day instead of just a few times a week. It's spirtual food for my thirsty soul and I always feel so good when I start my day with just me and HIM!. -I'm also going to make more quality time for hubby and me and get babysitters more often. I'm sure there are more things, but my mind is blank right now.. Traci.. |
Celia, don't wear yourself out! Sounds like you have a busy couple of days. Thanks for checking in!.
Anna - isn't it awesome that you are THINNER this year than you were last year? Not many people can say that! You are gonna ROCK this new year!. Kit - how did the interview go? You are gonna love this plan and the amazing results! Glad you are here with us. Mary - what a wonderful way to bring in the New Year! I would love to be there with you.. Mo - sorry for your loss - travel safe and take care of yourself.. Michelle - wasn't that powerful! I am so glad you liked it. I am going to start doing this every morning. We must have intention - that is my new word for the year. We can 'want' to do something or 'try' to do something, but having a strong intention has much more power and focus doesn't it... |

So, a little about me......
I just turned 45 on Christmas Eve, have been married to my sweetheart for 23 years, we have no children, 2 boxers and 3 kitties. Although we do not have children of our own, within the past year, my 26 year old nephew and my 17 year old nephew came to live with us. Many adjustments and challenges!!!. I am a teacher and I teach kids who live in a residential rehab facility. I love my job and it's many challenges. I am finishing up my masters degree in special education, I will graduate this summer.. I have had much success with Medifast but have never allowed myself to reach goal. That may sound odd, but I seem to self sabatoge everytime I get close. This is my year to reach my goal! So, for all you newbies, ask any questions as I am an old pro at this!.. |
