Quick question... Is the atkins/Medifast Diet bad for you? Thanks in advance for any answer. Another question... Hi, I just placed an order for a month of dark chocolate shakes and I was wondering if anyone else out there is just using shakes for their weight loss...

Yes sir! although you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else here to confirm this as I am unsure. Better yet, why don't you ask the Medifast guys because they can give you an answer better...

I find the shakes pretty easy, so I mostly do those, although I use a bar when I'm not somewhere I can make a shake. I do still do amy L & G for one meal...

Wow, all shakes? I basically eliminated shakes from my next order. They have a flavor in there that I just don't like. Been trying to make them into cakes, but I can't cover over the flavor. I even added Crystal Light flavoring, still no go...

I just ordered a case of the RTD shakes. I am not really fond of the packets. I don't like the texture. I think if I were to do just shakes, I would be doomed to fail miserably at this diet. I like that there is a variety, so I don't get stuck on just one thing. Although an all brownie diet sounds awesome!..

I don't do just shakes but I do use a lot of them. Some times they are too thick for me so I just add aditional water to them. Diane..

Thanks for all the input. I am doing the 5 in 1 but just wondered if anyone only did shakes. I really want to lose 40 lbs by June for my vacation and really need a jumpstart...

RTD in Dutch Chocolate is FAB. Trying heating it up! I only do RTD shakes because they have no milk in them. Milk allergies are horrific!..

The Shaker Sisters group was started based on that premise. Most of us are mixing it up though. I drink 3-4 of my meals daily, between shakes, cold drinks, hot drinks, and sometimes soft serve..

My personal belief on the concept of shakes can give you better losses is that they are lower in carbs. Some of them are 10 carbs (with some of the Medifast lit saying 9 for the strawberry diabetic), which would save you up to 25 carbs per day as well as up to 100 calories, since shakes have as low as 90, which some Medifast meals go up to 110. there are other meals now that also meet this profile now..

My suggestion is to just try doing MF, eating what you enjoy from any of the Medifast meals. You might be like many here, who are losing great and not worrying about further restricting an already restrictive plan. Then, if you're feeling like you're stalling, or aren't doing as well as you hoped, then consider doing the shakes or even just the lower carb options..

Don't restrict yourself out of the gates. If you're going to be on the plan for any length of time, there's no reason not to try other stuff out..

Best wishes to you on your journey!..

I know when my hubby did Medifast with me years ago, he did a bar and 4 shakes plus the L&G..and it worked for him. I knew I couldn't do that..but I wasn't really a fan of the shakes. I think it is doable though.....good luck to you...

I don't mind the shakes. They are easy to transport and make about anywhere. I do find that they don't keep my full very long. Often I think of the comment that you shouldn't drink your calories. I think you just do what works for you however. Keep up the great work...

Are you thinking you will lose more/faster with just shakes? I think that is a Medifast fable. The variety, to me, is part of why I can stick with it 100% for 5 months. According to MF, all the food is interchangeable and no one thing makes you lose faster. Unless you are super carb sensitive and are doing it for that reason. Do they have fewer carbs? I don't drink shakes in the winter, so I forget their carb count...

If you haven't already, I would keep trying other foods to see if there's anything else you like. Variety can really help keep a diet interesting and give you less room to want to fall off the wagon..

I hated the soups and oatmeals, but have enjoyed most of the other foods. Even if you didn't like something the first time you tried, it, try it again in a few weeks. I wasn't a fan of the brownie at first, but now it's one of my favs...
