First question I have is Ok so I bought some Medifast Sure from Wal-Mart does it work good? Thanks for any comment. Second question of mine... Hello everyone,.

I am a 44 year old single mother of a 16 year old girl. I have about 110 excess pounds that I have been lugging around and have been researching GBS for over 5 years. I now feel I have enough information to make an informed decision. Taking the first step was the hardest. I was watching The Biggest Loser season premier in September and one of the participants was competing to be a contestant on the show. Everyone had to step on a stepper 500 times.

Oxygen.

, and the medical team had to assist. She did make it on the show and was one of the finalists..

I thought about going to the open call for the show when they were in Detroit but after seeing that and watching how they train on the past seasons, I changed my mind. I said to myself that there must be a better way. Before that show was over, I had went online and signed up for an information session for bariatric.

Surgery.

Two days later, I was in a room with 50 other people who were in desperate need of losing weight..

It has been 3 months since that information session. I have completed my complete physical,.

Sleep.

Study, psych interview, one-on-one with the program director, and attended the pre-surgery class. The only thing left is 3 more appointments to my primary physician and dietitian. My insurance requires that I complete 6 months of physician monitored weight loss plan in which she prescribed weight loss pills (.

Alli.

) and referred me to a dietitian. I didnt tolerate the pills very well so I stopped taking them. My dietitian has me on a low carb 1600 calorie diet..

I look forward to my.

Surgery.

Sometime in March or April. This will be the beginning to my new life. Until this time, I attend support group meeting occasionally and log in on several WLS websites almost daily. I have a few.

Books.

To get that the program director suggested. I am trying to soak up as much information as possible in the next 3 months. I went into the first information session deciding on the Lap-Band but now have decided against it. I do not want a foreign object in my body for the rest of my life and it doesnt teach me to change my eating habits. I can just eat more or less depending on the fill. I am now trying to decide between the bypass and the sleeve..

Thats it about me. Is there anyone in the Detroit area out there? If so, where, when, and what kind of.

Surgery.

Are you having?.

Welcome! This is a great place to come. Congrats on taking the steps to make changes toward releasing the olds ways and embracing the new! It is totally worth it to develop a new relationship with food. Good for you!!!.

I had RNY bypass and haven't regretted it once. I too researched and talked with people for years. You are ahead of the game for having done so. I'm 4 1/2 months out and down 93.5 lbs with no complications...

Like you, I am pre-op, about 110 lbs. overwieight, and.

Hope.

To have GBS in April (March would be even better). You've come to a great place. The most important thing you can do as a pre-op is to stay here. It keeps you focused. I made the decision to have GBS in August (just before my 50th birthday). It has been hard to stay motivated since I can't have approval until February.

The last month I started to lose interest and stray.needless to say, I have not been so focused and motivated. However, I'm back and determined to succeed. FYI - the few people I know who had lap-band have not been so successful. Read prior discussions and you will see many of us thought they wanted lap-band and found GBS as a better option after seminars and looking into further. The sleeve has been successful for many of our friends here..

I wish you luck.
