Quick question: What is the average weight loss on the Medifast Diet? Hoping for any answer or 2. My other question... Why can I not get myself motivated to do this mf? I have tried twice this week, get thru the 2nd meal, and it all flies out the window. The devil on my shoulder tells me, you dont want to do this nasty stuff, and the angel on the other one says, you know you need to do this if you want to live! What is wrong with me, why is it not a no brainer to choose to dot the right thing, the thing that can save my life, and make my life worth living again?..

Try reading the Beck Diet solution and working the exercises in the book. If you can do that, it will help you get over the mental "hump" and get to full commitment. It's a great book about how to win the mental battles we have with ourselves around food and dieting...

Have you ever tried journaling? I have found that when I have my weak moments, especially with regard to food, if I can sit down and write about it and explore what I'm really feeling, the crisis passes and I feel better. I also find out what the emotional triggers are that make me want to eat, so I can deal with them better..

For me, I gained all this weight due to emotional eating, so forging a new relationship with food is both necessary and incredibly hard. It means facing the emotions that the food was covering. Not always pleasant, but I finally decided that I am worth the fight. If you can get to that point, I think you will start to find it easier to do this program. If you are like me, you will always have the desire to eat what you know you shouldn't. But finding the strength to resist that is quite empowering. Don't beat yourself up about it along the way!..

Hey... I am just finishing my 1st wk & I'm not going to lie, the first 4 or 5 days were awful. But now on day 7 it's easier to stick with the plan. I've been careful to keep my meals spaced out. The first few days I was hungry enough to eat all 5 Medifast meals & the 5&1 all in one go!.

But I just keep reminding myself that even though I am hungry right now, I will get to eat again soon. The first few days, I would let myself have a piece of cheese or eat a Medifast meal sooner if I was super hungry..

I recommend calling Medifast Nutrition Support for feedback on how to get going on Medifast and suggestions based on your situation. I called them on the 1st day because I was beside myself with hunger. They said that it was ok to do 4 Medifast meals & 2 L&G or split the L&G so I feel more satisfied. I don't know the direct line for the nutrition support ppl but if you call 1-800-209-0878 they will connect you..

Don't feel like it's all or nothing (100% OP or don't even bother). Just find out what will work to get you closer to your goal. If you gradually work toward following the plan, that's better than giving up, right?.

Good luck.

I think the Beck workbook at least is a superb idea. It is baby steps to preparing and thinking..

Using a diet log (I love myfitnesspal.com) to log every bite, on plan or not..

Every day you try again. And try. Until you get it. It will happen. Perhaps you need a health coach. I know Purplepassion is utterly supportive, positive and kind.

But I can say this... you are 290. Don't wait til you are 350 like me to start. Consider that you are nearly 6 mos ahead of the game, go for it. YOU CAN DO IT!..
