First of all What is the procedure in Medifast Diet? Looking forward for any answer. Another question I got... Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended..

Please discontinue reading Tough Love threads if they are going to cause you to become upset..

+ + + + + +.

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstinence from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

Getting the banner:.

We accept anyone who follows the Medifast plan 100% as written, but not limited to, the Quick Start Guide. We recommend participating on the team for 1 week prior to requesting the Tough Love Banner to ensure that compliance to our bylaws is do-able for you..

Anyone can start the thread. If youre the first one here in the morning, copy this opening post and create a post for the new day. Anyone is welcome to join, and if folks have additional ideas on how we can commit, we are happy to hear them!.

So glad there are folks like you running the 911 lines. A transformer exploded in front of our house this weekend (errant squirrel, met an untimely death!) and we had to call 911 during the night. Never so grateful for them as I was when they put out the fire and saved my trees (thus, saving the house and sleeping kids)!.

Morning all. Thanks for the much needed coffee. Just a quick fly-by - I overslept.

DH has spring break this week, so one less alarm going off and no activity to rouse me..

Steph - love house #2 - the kitchen is da bomb. The dining room looks like the same color as mine (course I like purple, can you tell?) and one of the bedrooms, too (the green one). Nice patio/deck. I'm a sucker for upstairs/downstairs, though, even with my aging knees. But they don't bother me so much anymore. I even.

To climb stairs at work - even when I don't have anywhere to go (part of my exercise plan).

Well, ladies, I'm down a whopping 2.6 this week and am thrilled. That puts me 1 lb away from goal. And although I'm not calling Goal, I am going to start transition. I want to be well on my way into transition when we go on our cruise in 28/9/14 ;P.

So bring on the extra veggies! I think I'll stick to 5&1 veggies for a while so I can keep up the downward momentum. I've been keeping up on Freya's T&M thread, too, although only did an initial post..

Waving to all the Lovelies!!..

AWESOME loss!!!.

YAY on your loss too!!!.

After not losing since last Tuesday (i am a daily weigher) my scale went WHOOSH... I'm down.

3 lbs.

For the week!!! I briefly saw 179.8 but got a consistent 180.2 so maybe tomorrow the new decade will be mine. The 170s by the time I see my dh was my goal..

I have to call a plumber today so I doubt we'll venture far from home, cleaning out my laundry room and my room today, fun times...

I dunno about antibiotics, but infections and anything that fiddles with your immune system can make you retain water. I don't know how the biology works, exactly, but as I understand it, it's an inflammation thing...

Morning Toughies!.

Melissa - LOVE LOVE LOVE the curtains and douvet. I used to loathe green, any type of green, but over recent years I've come to love it (see my TL badge?)..

Steph - House #2 says "Welcome" from the outside for sure. And it is substantially bigger. You can see it in every room. The kitchen is massive and as the center of a lot of household activity (even for a MF'er), very inviting, and I love the wood floors throughout. Bathrooms appear more updated too. Now, there is nothing at all wrong with house #1 - in fact, it has a cozy welcoming feel, but if the $25,000 is no object, I think #2 is the total package.

Susan - so glad you had a "come to Jesus" with the brat last night. Everyone here at TL says that you can over-exercise and do 4 & 2 and that it is a completely legit option. So, I think you have to make your own choices about that. I've often thought when I got to the "overweight" category (for me that's 180) I might exercise more and do 4 & 2, because I want to be as toned as possible at goal. I've got age working against me, don't need a sedentary lifestyle working against me too! I'll have to cross that bridge when I get there. I'd say "trust your gut" and do what you know FEELS like 100% to you.

Enjoy a 100% OP day - whatever that looks like for you!.

Penny - YES - antibiotics, pain killers, just about any of those "as needed" meds, cause me to retain water. If you need them, you need them, so just take them and don't pay attention to the scale for a bit. But YES - they can cause a temporary water retention..

In fact, yesterday I was down to 223.3. This morning clear up to 224.8! But I had hamburger meat yesterday (93/7), cream cheese on my shake cake, and didn't take my water pill (dummy). So, I'm not worried. Hate a big jump like that, but I trust the program and know it will come right back off. I NEED to see 222 soon. That'll be 60 Medifast pounds, 70 altogether.

Ah the beginning of a beautiful OP day today!..

Well, for 25k less on #1 we'd have to do something about the garage (there's no entry to the house at all - you have to come and go through the main car door), and there's no master suite and only one bath. That's easy 25k worth of work - and on number two, the lot is much, much bigger, catering to our love of many many animals..

And I love the kitchen. And the difference on the payments is like 140 a month. I'm saving that in eating out, these days. lol..

- I agree, I liked both houses very much, but number two, even with the higher asking price, would be my choice. Our house is a ranch, DH wants one floor living. He saw how both of his grandparents suffered with the stairs in their later years. I am getting used to one floor living..

Not sure really about the antibiotics and the weight flux. My (uneducated) guess would be that it absolutely is a factor. Maybe Ella can answer later for you. I'm sure you'll flush all that fluid right out though..

We considered that. The master is on the upper floor, and the laundry in the basement. But there are two good-sized bedrooms and a full bath on the first floor, should one of us not be able to handle the stairs. If both of us can't handle the stairs, well, we'll deal with that when the time comes, but I'm only 50. And heck, we've got a laundry chute. Really.

Who builds houses with laundry chutes?..

Debra, thanks! That was funny!.

Lisa, thanks for the shout out! Glad you love your new baubles!.

I need some Tough Love here. Oh, it's not food. You all (mostly all) know that I was quite the gymrat last year after my surgery. I gained a lot of weight - I know much of my weight was carb-related. Dinner at the Sports Grill after the Y, while yummy and mostly healthy, was usually accompanied by frosty, hoppy goodness and it was carb-icide as far as my diet was concerned. Flash forward to present day.

5 packets of space food. No restaurants in our budget for the next month or so. And I plan to get back in the gym tonight. I will start with my upper body workout tonight, cardio tomorrow, lower body Wednesday, cardio Thursday, upper body again on Friday and more cardio on Saturday. I've had a VERY difficult time talking myself into getting back into the gym mindset, I know I love it once I'm there.

I just need some good, swift kicks in my behind to get me back in there. I want to see these muscles more than I do. I worked hard (De and a few others saw my picture - wish I could find it) and I just wish I could get excited about it like I was six months ago. HELP!..

, I'll give you my 2 cents. I was a total gym rat..got down to a very thin me (size 6 jeans hanging on my door), had a trainer etc. Then I had a knee and back injury. If course, what do I do if I can't go to the gym? Pout and eat. That's why I'm here today. My injuries healed long ago.

The same switch that switched as far as Medifast goes also switched for the gym. About 4 months before I committed to MF, I committed to the gym. I have to say it took about a month for the old "I love going to the gym every day" habit to establish itself. I just made appointments with me at the gym..5 days a week and kept them. All of a sudden, if I couldn't go, I was out of sorts, so I knew I was there.

Once I was there, after I warmed up, I was happy that I was there and after my workout I felt SO good. It took me a while, but I happily go 5 days a week now and it's the first appointment I make for my day (no matter what time I plan to go) so I always keep it...

Penny -.

The workout thing is just like the 5&1 thing - motivation/feeling like it is nice, but NOT required. You do things every single day that you don't feel like doing. You do housework, pay bills, take care of sick kids, laundry, work, blah blah blah. If you waited until you FELT LIKE IT, some of those things just wouldn't ever happen..

When you stop thinking it's an option and start thinking it's another required task like all the rest of the things you commit to in your life, then you stop depending on emotion (which may or may not be there on any given day) to determine what you're going to do. Feeling like it is nice, but not necessary. What's necessary is doing it. Period. It's nearly always a mistake to let emotion determine what you're actually going to DO. We need to make these decisions with our brains and IQs, not our mushy, touchy-feely emotions...

Steph, you are 100% right. It's not like I don't know these things. I just sometimes let that mushy touchy feely WHINY brat speak more loudly than my own intuition that KNOWS what I need to do...

Easier said than done Steph. Unfortunately..

I'm one of those people that will stall if I blink too often. Exercise definitely causes me to stall out. When you lose as slowly as I do, you have to make a choice. I NEED to get the most bang for my Medifast buck right now, because I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to afford it. What I need to start doing more regularly is the ab work. I'm just not motivated to get back in the game. Need to find that motivation...

Holy moly, it's raining to beat the band out there... I only have about 30 feet to walk to my car, but I'm gonna get soaked!..

Good morning tough lovelies!.

Congrats everyone on the great losses!.

All I have to say is ouch, ouch, ouch! I spent all day yesterday in the yard and garden. Weeding, shoveling, mixing soil, raking, planting, etc. I'm sore from my neck to my feet. It was a great workout and my vegetable garden is up and running again for the year! Yay! Last year I had a completely successful garden for my first time. I was giving away tomatoes, jalapenos, and cucumbers because we had soooo many. Each week I was harvesting about 8-10 lbs of veggies.

Yesterday I planted: regular tomatoes, roma tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, red onions, basil, and carrots. When it gets warmer, I'm going to plant some broccoli. My family loves produce..

Question: Are sunflower seeds OP?.

BTW, I not only survived the snack bar... I kicked it's *****..

Happy Monday!..

From NS.

Nuts contain carbohydrates as well as fats; you may incorporate a few as an optional snack or condiment.... Optional snack - 7 whole walnuts, 10 whole almonds or 20 whole pistachios. Condiment -.

1/2 teaspoon sunflower seeds.

Or 1/4 ounce (~40) of pine nuts..

My opinion? For 1/2 tsp what is the point?..

Just made an appointment with my eye Dr. for this afternoon. Hopefully he can tell me I haven't scratched the heck out of my cornea and maybe come up with some solution to my dry eye issue...

1/2 tsp of sunflower seeds? Really? Now, that is good. I wonder if anyone actually does that?.

De - good luck at the doctor..

I had a very productive conversation with my boss this morning. We have been discussing me working from home. So far our conversations have been kind of "what-if's" and I think more wishful thinking on my part..

Well, after discussing it with my husband this weekend, he said I should just go in and talk to the boss and give him a timeline. So I did. My boss seemed agreeable. Asked me to write a plan out and give it to him. Will do. I figure I can train my assistant the month of April.

My assistant is taking a week off in May. When we're both back, we can start the transition. I can be working from home by the end of May..

Please, oh please, let it be so..

I do manage to get in a few days each month. Definitely wish I could do it full time though. I get so much more done from home than I do with the constant distractions in the office...

I'm allowed to work from home, but I only do it if I'm snowed or iced in because I stink at staying focused at home. All I want to do is walk in the woods with the dog, or clean, or precook and freeze meals, or stare out the windows to see what critters visit during the day. I have to leave the house in order to focus. I wish I were better at it...

I told my boss I would come in once a week or so to pick up the info to do billing and all. Other than that, they can email or fax me and I can access my work computer remotely. I will email any info my boss needs printed to my assistant and she can print it out and give it to him..

I am really looking forward to it..

By the way, I quit the facebook group I was talking about a few weeks ago. The supposed "MF" group where everyone talked about cheating and all of the alternative plans they were on. Final straw is a few supposed health coaches on there posting about their alternative foods. Then there are new Medifast people there. Such a bad message to be sending them. So adios peeps...

Good job Cheri all the way around! Fun taking control, isn't it? I love it. I went in and told my boss I didn't want to work Fridays anymore - he didn't even blink - he just said 'do it' and that was that. We're definitely opposites in everyway, but we seem to work well together. It helps that I'm completely overqualified in what I do. He just lets me do what I need to with very little intervention from him. I just love it.

Hi Zoe!!! Yeah, I tried getting my own business started working from home... ah, not so much working involved. I played around with it for a year and decided my heart just wasn't into it so now I just play on Fridays instead. I don't have as much money, but I'm much happier!.

Hi De!!! Hi Freya!!!.

Hi everyone I missed!.

Dh is out in the front room playing around with spackle. I have Sarge at 8pm, so I'm off to get changed for that and have some hot cocoa!.

Love to all,.

Lisa, Susan, MT, Karen, Teri, and Freya.

Jan, Keri Anna & Zoe & Debra.

, (did I miss any??) congrats on the great losses this week! Hope some of that whooshing mojo will head my way..

, I dont think it's the abx that make me retain, but just being sick. I dont take antibiotics often at all, but when Im sick my weight stalls or jumps a few pounds. Also, I know you know that getting to the gym is the hardest part. Once you make it a part of your daily schedule, you will look forward to the endorphins and the results. Schedule it and just do it. Youll be so glad you did!.

, I love house #2 also! Good luck!!.

, UGH!! I hate those nasty bugs. They try to move in when it rains a lot here, but were on a closed aerobic water treatment system so they cant live in our pipes, thank GAWD..

, isnt it fantastic when someone notices out of the blue?!?.

, gardening sure hurts, doesnt it? I need to pull some more weeds in my landscaping. I did about half of them and felt it in my hammies for at least two days..

, it would be so sweet if the working from home pans out! Good job taking the initiative on that!.

I sub 6th grade during standardized tests this week. It is rough. 6th grade isn't testing, but they are locked down so they don't distract the 5th graders who are testing. No recess, no switching classes, no talking at lunch, no P.E., nada. Just sit and workworkworkwork. That's HARD for 11 and 12 year olds.

It's tough on the teachers, too. I think I've almost hit my lifetime limit of saying "be quiet." I tried to let them stand up and stretch and whisper for about 10 minutes, but 11 and 12 year olds also don't understand that "stand up and whisper" =/= wrestle and.

Since none of you have answered my request to come over and cook, I'm headed to the kitchen to figure out dinner...

Oh what a day. My fence fell down AGAIN. (my house is only 3 yrs old) last time it fell down b/c we had 26 inches of rain in 2 days and the posts (the 2 year old ones) rotted and fell. Today it was thankfully only the panel and no kids were playing. My neighbors are so awesome. The one whose yard it fell in was so nice and the one on the other side put it back up for me..

Hello to everyone who came in in the past few hours!!..

I deleted people from my friends today who are constantly falling off the wagon. Sure, I could be supportive, but I just don't have it in me to keep typing 'get back on that horse' over and over and over again when the only one committed out of the two of us is me. So I just drop people who aren't serious about it. I would've quit that facebook group too...

Cheri/Zoe - That's why I like being here. I am not well liked at work for having skipped the party (all sorts of politcal crap going on with that, unfortunately) but it was a sludge fest to kill all sludge fests... and it was the last thing I needed - you know, sometimes I can be very strong - but I've been to this before, and I knew I wouldn't have done well - so why even subject myself to the torture? When you want to stay 100% to have to make the choice. I can't do certain things (yet). Oh well! I made my dd pick out a restaurant for her birthday that I knew I would be able to get what I needed to stay 100%. And (fill in the blank) Garden was not the answer.

I agree - you can't change people - you have to hang with the winners not the whiners!!!! :-) LOL oh I crack myself up sometimes!!!! Yeah, I'm a bit tired..

Have a great OP night everyone!.

Well, I did find out that I haven't completely lost my mind. There WAS a tiny foreign object stuck to the inside of my upper eyelid, so that every time I blinked, it was causing the aggravation. De: there is nothing like being justified in a medical complaint. I sometimes think I'm a hypochondriac (and so do other people like my mom, the doctor), but then it turns out I totally have something wrong with me (perfect example, the gross AVMs in my lungs that required a surgery on Christmas) and I'm not a hypochondriac after all. Hurray for real medical issues that can be fixed..

In other news, I just received a vague message regarding one of the job positions I applied to. Hey, it's a start, right?..

, I have also deleted some people who have disappeared or are so off the track, I just would prefer to move on from..

, The first thing my doc did when she saw how red my eye was, was to put in these incredible numbing drops that you can't even get a prescription for. I wanted to kiss her on the mouth. Then she shined a light in after putting other drops and said "OMG..you've burnt your cornea". I guess I was lucky. It healed SO fast. It was like magic. Glad your eyeball is a happy eyeball again...

Did some say magic drops? I'll take some too..

All this exercise talk has me hitting the gym today after work. It will let me avoid the 5 o'clock rush hour so that's motivation too..

Melissa, the room is very tranquil looking. Love the green pattern..

Anna, did you say 24 inches of rain? I can't even remember what rain looks like. Sucks about the fence..

Jasmine, fix me something since in your the kitchen? Pretty please?.

Cheri - cutting the dead weight. I've been lurking more but I can't believe how many people use the "only human" excuse. I'm gonna stay here in the bunker where it's safe. And De has magic pills..

Carolyn - I always miss you my librarian friend.

Also, sign me up for some of those majick drops, please..

I found the awesomest thing at the grocery store yesterday. I didn't know how awesome it was until now because I stuck it in the fridge and forgot about it. It's chocolate mint water! The brand is Metromint. Ingredients: water, mint, cocoa essence. 0 everything. It's nothing like dessert, but it is a fun treat and it tastes good.

I wonder how a brownie would taste made with it? Hmmmm... Think I'll save a bit and use it on my last Medifast meal of the evening...

Claire - I know. I always feels stewpid for bringing up issues with the Dr. For 1, I am impossible to diagnose. Yet when they "go in to take a look" it's usually so bad it shocks them. That's what happened when they did my hysterectomy. He did every test and biopsy known to modern medicine and I "passed" every test.

The endometriosis was so bad, he said my uterus was like a block of wood from the scar tissue and he was dumbfounded that I was not only able to get pregnant with my boy, but carried him to term as well..

Fingers crossed that something good comes from the vague message..

Susan - Yeah, they numbed my eyes too. Awesome stuff, but felt a little weird. hehe..

Oooo, I had those magic drops once. I had a clogged tear duct and this little, old, hundred-year-old eye doctor with giant Fred Sanford glasses and a HUGE hypodermic full of saline coming toward my numbed eye is the most vivid memory I have about anything EVER.I didn't feel a thing. But I had to keep my eye open while he shot saline into the inside lacrimal duct until I felt it in the back of my throat..

De, SO glad that's straightened out..

I went and kicked booty at the Y! My arms are shakey and I hope I can do some beadwork tonight. I came home and had a yummy salad with 99% fat free turkey breast on top..

I have a little trick with salad dressing. You know, the ones we can have as a healthy fat. The first couple of servings out of the bottle are pretty thick and gunky. So after I choke through them, I add water to the bottle. I like my dressing a little thinner so it travels through my salad. And I get to have a little more...
