First of all Which is better for weight management Ephedra or Medifast? Hoping for any comment. Another question I got... Hi everyone!.

I just restarted Medifast and I know the first time I did MF, support and motivation really helped me..

If you are new to Medifast or restarting like me, lets start this journey to health together!.

A little about me: I started Medifast 2 years ago, lost 103 lbs in 10 months and was on top of the world. Unfortunately, I let personal stress get to me and allowed some of my worse bad habits to take over. Over the last year, I gained back 45 lbs. This is just unacceptable. I worked so hard to get the weight off. This time around, instead of making WEIGHT LOSS my #1 reason for doing MF, I am making my HEALTH the #1 reason.

I am a mom to an amazing (and active.

) 3 year old and I hate the feeling of my knees hurting or being out of breath when we play..

I look forward to meeting new fellow MFers and I know the excitement of those starting the program for the first time is going to be such a boost for me to keep going...

I think it is a good idea that you are easing into it. You will quickly notice if he notice a difference..

Hope to see other August starters soon. Just jump right on in..

Tonight I am grilling steak and veggies. All OP and I am making plenty for left overs..

I am back.

I started Medifast in September 2007 and I did fantastic! I was an orignal Sassy Sapphire (to ashamed to check back in with them). Lost 35 pounds and was 1/2 way to goal.... but let excuses of life take back over. My story sounds just like yours!.

I started again today! 100 percent OP and planning to stay there. I need to change that picture of me; that was when I was happy and had lost weight. My computer is down at home, so you might not here much from me the next couple days; but I will be back!.

I have to make a new ticker, too. I am starting back again at 206lbs! Yikes, well at least I am 5 pounds less than when I started in 07!.

Looking forward to making new friends! We can do this!!!!.

Hi Debbie - so glad you are back!! I hear ya, this "peach" is starting to turn back into a "pumpkin"! I honestly havent gotten on a scale - I know that if I see what I'm afraid of I will freak out & stop eating, which is bad for the baby, and me I suppose! I have decided that when I am down one full pant size I will hop on the scale - the damage wont be as bad by then hopefully! Last time I started at an 18, right now I'm in my 14s, but I really want to see those 8s again!!!.

So I did a shake for breakfast, forgot a snack... salad with chopped hard boiled eggs for lunch, laughing cow cheese for a snack , and L & G dinner. Kind of L & G times two plus snacks? It was rediculously hard reaching my hand into the carton of Trader Joe's graham crakers & handing one off to the baby but not grabbing one for myself. A big part of how I gained weight before I did Medifast was because I had a day care in my home - snacks all the time to keep up with the requirements of the food program I participated in. One for the kids, one for me (or two or three...)..

Ooh, I know what you mean about trying to avoid the kids' treats! That has always been one of my main downfalls. Go for one graham craker and I before I know it, I had 10..

Have a great OP day!.

Hi Ladies,.

I am back...day two and going strong! I hope you are both doing as well! I can relate with the children and snacks! I have two girls (8 & 11) and I want to eat what they eat (or what I have.

Them to eat!) They love those carbs!!!! So last night when they got home from camp I was ready! Typically at my house everyone gets so frantic/crazy like they are starving when I get home! I am the Momma Bird and they are all (including DH) squaking with their mouths open... anyway I actually got home before them and I prepared a plate of broccoli and carrots with low fat dip for them. They loved it! They are usually good about the healthy snacks if I have them ready in advance... If I was not prepared they would have been into the pantry grabbing crackers, cookies or POPCORN! HAAA...I won last night! I even enjoyed some raw broccoli with them while I worked on dinner. I already have oranges peeled in the fridge for tonight's "FRENZY" but of course I won't participate (saved a few broccoli morsels for myself)!.

I was very pleased with myself last night I went for a 30 minute walk! I am planning on doing that again tonight, if it does not storm!.

I have more sympathy for both of you as your children are younger. It is so hard to make yourself a priority....especailly with so many temptations and physical demands. I know that I want to change and don't want my girls to walk down my path. They are already overweight for their ages (not drastically). So I need to lead by example! Which is what I think all of us want to do!.

Well another day or so before my home computer is fixed. I am using my work computer and I don't like to do that! I will be in touch again tomorrow!.

Stay Strong Ladies! We can do it!!!.

BTW - yes, as far as I remember Crystal light is okay! I had a glass yesterday! Wow, I forgot about laughing cow cheese...I loved that! I am going to put that on my list!.

Great job Debbie!!!.

Yeah, my kids are carb lovers too... I try to at least make better choices - mini carrots, low fat popcorn, apple slices, string cheese, lowfat yougart (I love Trader Joe's - they do all my prep work) but I need to do better. I've been trying to walk every night too. Our kids go back to school Monday, so I can get back to the gym - yay!!! I seriously can't wait to get in good morning workouts again, they give me energy for my day, and work out my stress from the day before..

Nina - headed your way this afternoon for one last hoorah before school starts. We're going to La Jolla Cove & the temple today, then Sea World tomorrow - double yay!..

I am always so jealous of the people who get to live there full time, and I always think "why dont we move down here?" and then I'll see a sign for homes starting in the low $800's and I remember why... We'll just stay up here in LA county an visit ya'll or now!.

Things are still going ok here - still committed, and this weekend should be easier because I've got so much to do before school starts on Monday! Have a great day everyone!..

I'll take that challenge - does crystal lite count????.

I'm working tomorrow in the office of our apartments - I seriously haven't worked outside of the house in about 7 years. I'm nervous - what if my brain has in fact turned into a Barney/Dora/Backyardigans blend of mush?.

This week is going great - I'm at 2 shakes, 2 healthy snacks, and a somewhat L & G dinner, trying to max at 1500-1600 calories ... I am seeing a decrease in milk, so I don't want to drop the carbs and the fats really low at the same time. Thats not true - I want to be 100% OP so I can see results quickly, but I also want to keep nursing Small Paul, and he wins - no debate about it..

NSV (since I am afraid of the scale) my pants are fitting better & I can see my waist becoming slightly more defined, so I'm happy. This is probably just because I've cut out the sugary & high carb bloaty snacks, but whatever. I'll take it! I made it to the gym Monday & Tuesday, and will be there before I go in to work tomorrow, and Friday I'm taking a nitrospin class - those kick my butt!..

I restarted today. I've been trolling the boards the last few weeks looking for a group to join. Looks like this is the one for me..

A little about myself... I started Medifast in Sept 2007. Entered maintenace 8 months later, having released 66 lbs. Started running as a way to keep the weight off and subsequently gained a few pounds in muscle. That was all good. I got into trouble when I stopped running for the summer but continued to eat like a runner.

I want to get this under control before I become the picture of my former self..

This is day 1 of my restart. So far, so good..

Looking forward to meeting new friends in my journey back to where I was before..

Count me in as well...

So here is a little about me....My name is Jennifer and I am a mother to 4 boys ages 10, 8, 3, and 11.5 months. I did Medifast back in 2008 and lost about 50 lbs and then I got pregnant. I had my son at the end of August 2009. I tried the nursing mother's program and just couldn't stick with it because there was way too much involved. My son also exclusively nursed until he was 10.5 months old. So I didn't feel very comfortable with "dieting" while I was his only source of nutrition.

I have just under 50 lbs to lose. I am not putting a time goal on it, because if I don't hit it by that goal then I will just be upset with myself..

I will try to get back later today to read the posts and see how everyone is doing! Hope you all have a great OP day!!..

Hey Jennifer!.

You & me both - the nursing moms program was just too complicated, especially with 6 kids and a husband to take care of too. I'm creating my own nursing mom's schedule - I started by just replacing breakfast with a shake, then making OP healthy choices (although I wasn't using OP serving sizes). I'm going to be up to 3 Medifast meals tomorrow - breakfast, snack, and lunch, so we'll see how it goes. I'm keeping a close eye on my milk qty and how Small Paul is reacting - so far so good, although I did notice a slight drop at first. It isn't back to what it was, but he is getting plenty. He is eating more & more table food and becoming less reliant on me, which is good from a dieting standpoint, but sad because he's getting big so fast! Our babies are pretty close in age, his 1st b-day is Sept 18th..

I am terrified to step on the scale, I'm waiting till my birthday next month (not sure why I think that will make me happier about a birthday!) BUT- I can tell you that I have de-bloated (is that a word?) by doing what I am and as of this morning I have lost 4 1/2" off of my waist, so yay!..

Forgot to mention that after losing weight the first time around, I became a vegetarian. Doing Medifast as "veg" is a bit more challenging. I'm learning to love other protein sources, like veggie patties and cottage cheese. Interesting..

Hi Everyone..

I'm restarting as soon as my package arrives. I've tried Medifast twice before, lost about 15 pounds each time. I lost 15 pounds right before summer vacation and was all pumped to exercise this summer to keep the scale headed downward. Hurt my knee and was unable to do anything, which put me in a self-pity/food cycle. We traveled a lot and ate out all the time. Needless to say, I put the 15 back on.

My clothes don't fit and I'm thoroughly embarrassed. I'm mad at myself and ready to recommit! This sounds like a nice group of people. Looking forward to chatting with you all...

Everyone is doing so great!!!! Yay! I am still stearing away from the scale, BUT I did lose almost 1 more inch of my waist this past week, and I can get into & zip (but certainly not wear with a fitted shirt) 3 of my size 10 jeans! I don't have any 12's - skipped past them too quick last time I did Medifast I guess, but that is probably where I am, and I'll take it! I'm really hoping that I will be wearing the 10s and having the muffin top issues in my 8's by my b-day next month... I think it might happen *fingers crossed and blender whirring* This week has been a tough one because it is fair time & we are there every night with funnel cake, deep fried oreos, and my fave - fire roasted corn dipped in butter calling to me, but I've been strong! I have also declared that according to me, and with no scientific research to back me up, a smoked turkey leg counts as a lean meat for this week.....

I've been away for a short while...But I'm back..

Ending week two. So far so good. I took the week off to rest and relax. Burned out from work and such. Staying OP, just more hungry since I don't have my mind occupied with work. It's back to the grind on Tuesday.

So I will enjoy the next four days off..

So glad to see how well everyone is doing. It's hard the second, or third, or forth time around. But Medifast works. It's a simple plan, easy to follow. I ordered some of the new products. The pancakes, brownies and cheese puffs.

It had gotten down to only shakes the last few days. I was near disappointment yesterday when 7PM came and went and no UPS. Got my delivery near 8PM, finally. Can't wait to try the pancakes in the morning..

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll check in on Monday..

Hi Everyone! I just started too and I am totally motivated, I am doing this and no one can stop me!! I have struggled with my weight all my life. Lost and gained but never can keep it off. Of course, my two pregnancies didn't help and never lost my baby weight. My babies are now 16 and almost 19! I am really trying to learn from all of you on these forums on how not to gain it back. I don't ever want to do this again. I have never done MF.

I am truly hungry sometimes, mostly I just WANT TO EAT. I am definitely an emotional eater. The key for me is to GET OUT OF THE KITCHEN. When I am in the kitchen I literally fight with myself, and try to justify a little snack or taste of something. It is really just the devil trying to mess with me! Once I'm done eating there is no more to eat!!!! I have to learn this or I am afraid I will gain back.

Not having a great week..

I've been weighing daily, something I was trying not to do this time around. The scale is staying the same or going up. And that's with exercise. Also having a time keeping the carbs between 80-85. I'm a vegetarian so I'm eating cottage cheese and Boca burgers as my lean. They aren't as carb friendly as meat.

Did the meat thing the first time around, 0 carbs.Ugh!.

We all have those kinds of weeks I guess. We'll see what tomorrow brings...

I'm determined to stop to see if this pushes my weight loss but here I am again at 1:12am awake and alert! Someone recommended tryptophen (sp?) and I think i'll try it. Melatonin has not done much!.
