Hey Crew.

-.

Just got back from 4 days at my bffs in San Antonio last night with my family. I had to wear my size 6 jeans to her house and I even wore them when I left! My DH asked if I was going to wear them every day!! I might since they are the only thing I have that really fit my lower body!! Ive got to wash them first, though!!.

I must admit the days were not 100% OP, and Im sure the scale will reflect it tomorrow. However, Im not beating myself up about it now. Situations like that continue to be learning experiences and really show me where I have weaknesses still. As I approach goal, I need to know Ill be able to handle these type of situations without wavering..

For.

BRENDA.

And others looking for great support bras, check out.

They have two bras that Ive tried that will not let you downand will prevent wiggles and jiggles!! One is called the FROG BRA I liked it, and Ive actually bought 3 of the LAST RESORT BRA over the years. IT WILL NOT LET YOU MOVE! Neither are pretty, but they will definitely hold everything secure I dont think youll be disappointed in their performance. Even after 27 weeks, Ive struggled to get the exercise into my day with any consistency at all. I certainly hope the cooling of temperatures below 95 will inspire me to get out for some early morning runs. I know it will be easier 50 pounds lighter!!.

My DH left a few minutes ago for another short business trip, so it's just the kiddos and me for a few days. Im glad to be back home and in control of the food available. Well be going to the beach in 12 days for a week and Im beginning to plan out our meals. Its so good to know the menu will be healthier and more nutritious than the one we had last fall!!.

Happy Sunday, Crew!! Make a plan for your week and stick to it!! Thats what Im going to do!!..

Ouch! Posion ivy sounds so painful. Hope it goes away soon. How did it go at red lobster?.

Debbie.

Sounds like your dr knows best for sure. As for dropping the medifast meals I'm confident you will be fine. The Fage 0% Greek yogurt has 15 grams of protein and you can add honey or agave because they are natural sweetners. Good alternative to Medifast meals for sure..

Did my bootleg personal trainer work out with a friend this morning. It went pretty well! Barb do you have a rest day during the week? I'm having a hard time doing a rest day. Hope everyones having a great Sunday!..

Good afternoon, Crew!.

A cool & cloudy day has kept me in the kitchen doing my Medifast baking and preparing OP things for a potluck tomorrow. I had a great OP dinner at Red Lobster last night. The hardest part about RL for me is resisting the biscuits but I did!.

It helps a lot to plan BEFORE I go what I'm going to eat. Helps with the resolve. Many times, once I get to a restaurant, my head will tell me to go ahead and get {fill in the not-so-healthy choice} because {fill in the stupid excuse}. During 5&1, this didn't happen a lot and it was pretty easy to combat. Pre-MF and during T&M in August, it was more frequent and I tended to give in. Not always totally (like I wouldn't order dessert and I'd only have 1 biscuit), but making not-so-healthy choices nonetheless.

The movie was charming and it was so cool to see all the familiar places. The school scenes were shot in the next town over (Saline) and I've subbed in those schools before. (Debbie will recognize them) There are, indeed, shots of my road and all the countryside shots/scenes are from the surrounding area. The green truck that belongs to the girl's family is from a local farmer and they drive it down my road on their way to visit the uncle. That was the coolest part - to see the truck driving the same route I drive every day...all the familiar landscape -.

MY ROAD!!.

They (the girl & her dad) go to town with the uncle to have ice cream. That's.

My.

Downtown. It was all shot last summer. I kept kicking myself for not having taken any pics then when the 'redid' some of the stores. The ice cream shop is really a restaurant and they put up a false wall to make it smaller. Redid some other store-fronts, too. All very cool..

Enough about the movie! It's a good story and enjoyable even if you're not looking for all the recognizable places..

All you runners looking for support bras...not my problem. That's the first place I lose and I have nothing left to jiggle, much less hold in place!.

Diana.

- thanks, as always, for getting us started. Hope all is well with you - we miss you!!.

Courtney.

- welcome back! Glad you had a good visit with your BFF. I know what you mean about being back home and in control.

Debbie.

- hope you're feeling better! Can't believe you drove all the way out to the lake and didn't find your glasses - and on GAME DAY!.

Barb.

- How's your knee doing? I had to LOL about DH eating your 'special' peas..

There goes the buzzer for my bread....Hi to.

Brenda, Heidi, Bobbi.

& the rest of the crew!.

Have a GREAT OP DAY EVERYONE!!..

Hi Everyone - just a quick check in. Getting a lot of couch time and dozing here and there and right now watching HIGH in Someone Like You on HBO. I really like Ashley Judd, too, though not in the same way.....

I was just dozing and my sister called and I picked up the remote control and tried to say Hello..

Naps are fun..

COURTNEY - thanks for the tip about the yogurt, good idea. I'm still in shock about the dr. telling me that. Enjoy the next few days, there is always a change in the dynamic at home with the DH's are out of town for a few..

JAN - glad the movie was so much fun, I will definitely see that one. It's a real kick to see the hometown on the big screen and your road! Love the story about the little green truck. Looking forward to Ann Arbor's turn in "Answer This" which will be having a sneak preview red carpet affair October 15 at the Michigan. It's beautifully shot on the U of M campus and around town..

DIANA - thanks for the kick off to the week. Hope you post your latest update soon. we miss you!.

Good morning Crew,.

I am back in Anchorage enjoying really cool temps. Ice on the water buckets in the yard this morning. Crisp blue skies..

Chicago was fun and I am lighter in the pocketbook but probably won't be on the scale tomorrow. Did not do a great job staying on the 5&1 but when going off plan tried to stay with the protein and veggies and avoid the carbs. There were a few moments when I could have lost control but I kept remembering how I felt last time I went nuts. I tried to make myself "think and eat like a thin person". But it's great to be back in my routine and back in the comfort of my 5&1..

Now have enough in my closet to get through some upcoming events. I cannot believe I am wearing men's medium shirts from Cabela's. I've always needed 2x or 3x to cover the hips. And then at Nordstrom's, buying of the rack in the regular department was an incredible feeling. Had to control myself and not buy too many pair of pants because I hope the bottom half continues shrinking. 50 of the next 57 pounds could disappear below the waist and I'd be happy with that.

They even tolerated my hours at Cabelas..

So back to the routine I come with great base layers for the quickly appearing cold weather. I'm starting to wonder if I'll get in 100 more bike miles outside. I may have to get on the spin bike in the house to reach my goal. We are losing 5 minutes and 45 seconds of daylight each day. The trails are covered in leaves which is ok if it's dry but slick if we get frost or snow, like yesterday morning. Can't believe I missed the first snowfall, however short-lived it was..

I love reading this thread every day, even if I don't have tons of time to write. You guys have the best adventures and stories and inspirations..

Christine..

I am determined to break that 150 lb barrier..

Diana: Good to hear you're still with us. Hang in there..

Melissa: Great job in transition!.

Barb: I had your buffalo chicken tenders Sat night. I ate the rest on a salad for lunch. (spliting lean & green) I used the chili nacho puffs in the salad and it was like having cheese and croutons. YUM! I use salsa for dressing...

CHRISTINE - YOU are the one with an adventurous life, in my opinion - the first snowfall - well, I don't envy that one bit, but then again, I hate the heat, too. I need to live in permanent Fall weather! Your shopping trips sound like they were a blast and it's the best to have your friends with you, that makes it really honest. So glad you did well staying OP, it's a hard thing and we are constantly challenged, but you did better than you expected and sounds like your self-talk worked. Back home and in the comfort of 5 & 1 - it really helps us get our heads back into it all..

Glad you are back and feeling good about your trip and new clothes! Enjoy!.

Sounds like you had a great trip in Chicago with lots of shopping NSVs! As to going off plan when I traveled in 5&1 I had some things I shouldn't of had for sure. After that happened I wrote down on an index card the emotions I was feeling that lead me to eat off plan. Then I wrote down the emotions I was feeling after I ate off plan. I kept this in my wallet near my credit cards so it would pop out at me before I would buy something I shouldn't. Looking at the words of the emotions I was feeling after eating off plan definitely helped me from going off plan in the future..

Brenda.

Congrats on getting all that running in! Its got to feel great. You can always wear longer pants when you run if it's colder out. I'm sure you can do it though!.

Thanks Debbie..

Happy Monday everyone. I had a great day in DC yesterday with my DD. We had to go shopping for some professional clothes for her. Of course I had to get some things as well. Can we just say that sliding into designer size 6 clothing is one of the best NSVs on the planet? I didnt even need to buy the dress to feel great. I did get a few things for work, but trying on designer dresses is always fun for us.

She doesnt have a boyfriend or any plans for getting married yet, but I will be in a size 6 then as well. I know I can be!.

Tomorrow is my appointment with the orthopedic. I fell so much better after almost a week off, but I know that it is just from the rest. It is SO hard to not go out and run when it feels this good..

Courtney.

, I bet you are loving those size 6 jeans. I know I love mine..

Jan.

, I always wash with Fels Naptha soap after I work in the garden. It takes the oil of poison ivy off the skin. It is a laundry bar soap that you can find in the laundry soap part of the grocery. It is in an old fashioned paper wrapper. I have a bar in my camp stuff, kitchen sink, bathroom and lab at school. Love the stuff.

I have been following them. I dont want my period of inactivity to cause a weight gain. I had been eating 1700 to 1800 calories in training. I just follow the plan. It works! It was easy to plan when I was on 5+1, now I just need to make sure I write it down a head of time to prevent overeating.

Melissa.

, I always have one rest day per week. Sometimes two, depending on my schedule. It is hard, but necessary. I also mix up my workouts, so I dont do a number of strenuous workouts in a row. You need to let your muscles recover. If you dont, they break down and only return partially to full strength.

It is also why I always have 200 calories of a high protein food immediately following a high exertion workout. The protein is needed for recovery. If I have a less strenuous muscle workout, I may have a smaller portion of protein after a workout. Eggs are great, as are Medifast snacks. I will sometimes go for high protein Kind bars or Luna bars.

Debbie.

, please take a nap for me. I really need one!.

Brenda.

, I am glad that your exercise is going well. Just take your time and listen to your body. I love that Buffalo Chicken. I make it when boneless, skinless chicken is on sale. I cut it up, cook it and then freeze it. Quick and easy meal when I get home from work and dont have time.

Diana.

, welcome back and thanks as always for getting us started. I hope things are going well now that DH is home..

Waving to.

Sherry.

Fight the good fight every day!.

Quick good morning to all the crew. Busy day yesterday and another today..

Went to a pot-luck last night which was a huge challenge. This is yet another annual event, so I.

Thought.

I knew what to expect food-wise.....

Wrong.

I guess over the years, the crowd changes so the dishes to pass also change. The only non-layered non-carb loaded vegetable choice was the cauliflower I brought. All the rest were loaded with carbs - and no salad of any kind.

Fortunately for me, I had a serving of the cauliflower on the way there - it didn't all fit into my smaller serving dish and I was afraid it would be all gone by the time we got through the line. But I guess if you bring carb-loaed, layered foods to an event, those are the ones you'll load your plate with. Our table was first through the line, so I got another serving. Main course was easy - that didn't change: ham & turkey, so I loaded up on turkey; glad I hadn't split my L&G. When everyone was through the line, I was done eating (not much on.

My.

Plate) so I went back up. There was still some cauliflower left, so veggie #3 made it to my plate - and there was one serving left to bring home.

Thankfully, the desserts were on a separate table, so I never rounded the bend. The home-made, from scratch!, cake was brought around, but I said no-thank you. She even asked if she should bring me a chocolate slice (there were both yellow and chocolate) and I said no-thank you again.

Not quite like riding a bike, but it gets easier to overcome the talk going on in my head. I had also brought my knitting, so my hands were busy while folks were eating and I didn't miss the hand-to-mouth activity so much. I found that helped when I quit smoking..

So, another day OP in this battle, and another one is starting now..

Melissa.

- I like your idea of the index cards..

Barb.

- I know Fels Naptha soap - it was a staple in my house growing up. The Tecnu stuff I have is specifically for the poison vines, but unfortunately, I didn't shower when I was done in the garden. I had spent too much time out there and was anxious to get dinner going - I was WAY behind schedule. I've certainly learned my lesson - dinner could have waited 20 minutes. I'm spending that 20 minutes PLUS a day now, treating all the break-outs..

So, I will get some Fels Naptha and ALWAYS shower with after gardening - more economical and easier than the Tecnu. Leaning my lesson the hard way..

The poison ivy continues to spread - I'm getting new breakouts every day..

Christine.

- Sounds like your trip was a blast! I remember shopping for the first time in the regular department. It was hard not to buy too much. I still couldn't fathom that my body would actually get smaller than a large on top, but I'm wearing a small now. I even have some sleeveless XS tops - totally unimaginable 6 months ago!!.

Brenda.

- Glad you're enjoying your running - I know you'll do great in the Jingle Bell Run. Just like everything else, the more you do it, the easier it is..

Hi.

I will definitely try to incorporate a rest day this week. Or at least a day where I just do a shorter workout of just abs and strength things. It just feels so strange to not do some exercise every day. Never thought in a million years I would be struggling to get a non-workout day in! Gah! Have you checked out the Muscle Milk Light vanilla toffee bar? It has 160 calories, 15 g protein, 18 carbs, 9 sugar. Not a bad bar overall. Good luck at the orthopedic today! Hi Everyone - just swinging by for a quick Hi. Just talked myself into a walk since it has stopped raining. It could have been a little longer, but that dinner hour gets tough when DH wants to have dinner at home..

Challenging day at the school, birthdays and homecoming week food everywhere - the room next to my desk was loaded with pizza and choc. chip cookies. Argh....but I just passed through and my friend caught me sticking my tongue out at it.....got a good laugh anyway. I did indulge in some cheese and high fiber crackers and salad, it was terrific and I had brought a small bowl of chicken soup for my mid morning. So far so good, I hope I can get this whole "transition without Medifast" thing down, the one little packet I can have evey day is like my best friend!! The doctor heard the catch in my throat when she said I should be done with Medifast and make sure I continue with 5-6 small meals a day, etc.. Then she said, 'Well, you can still have one.' Ugh.

More later, have a great evening, friends..

Hi everyone. I hope you all had a great day. I went to the orthopedic surgeon today who confirmed what my trainer said, I have a torn meniscus in my knee. The good news is that I have great bone structure in my knees with no arthritis! This is good for many reasons, but also because when they remove a portion of a meniscus after a tear, there can be an increased chance of arthritis. Well, since my knee is healthy, except for the meniscus, I should have a good outcome. I scheduled the surgery for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving so I don't need to take any days off of school.

Recovery should be quick..

No 5K in October....bummer, but I am allowed to go back to elliptical training with "peas" and Aleve as needed. I'll take it. I really don't want to do anymore damage, especially since other than the meniscus, my knees are so healthy. Although I don't think I have it in me, he tole me that if I wanted to run a marathon, my knees could probably handle it after the surgery..

Jan.

, I hope that the poison stops spreading. You may still have the oil on your skin or something else that needs to be washed off..

Melissa.

, I have tried those bars. I thought they were a little sweet tasting, but my DH enjoys them. Sometimes I'll have one as a safe way to get a "candy" taste, if that makes any sense. Remember, that rest day is critical. Even elite athletes take a rest day..

Sherry.

, congrats on being on plan! I am hoping to get to the post office tomorrow..

Barb.

- so glad to hear the good news from the doc!!! And what a relief! I thought of you while shopping for my itch-cream....there were.

'pea'.

Ice packs at CVS! Just throw them in the freezer and they're flexible and come in several sizes, shapes and colors - what a hoot! I think they were $10 - your peas are more economical and do the same thing.

My rash is still spreading. I threw away my lanyard today that holds my work badge after finding an outbreak around my neck & chest. I've changed the sheets on the bed, I don't wear anything twice, I even washed my face with Fels Naptha! I haven't used soap on my face in 30 years and today I was reduced to using laundry soap.

I was reading on the net to change the sheets every day. Doesn't there come a point when the oil is gone? Do my blisters produce more & that's how it spreads? I've never had it this bad.

More research!!.

Time to go treat all my rash spots....Have a great rest of the evening crew!!..

Awww...thanks, Debbie!! My daughter is a sweetie! Don't know how I could half of what I do with the other two without her. The camera is a funny thing....before starting Medifast I had a secret urging to want to have pictures taken, but didn't want to see them, so I just avoided the camera. Now, I'm turning into a camera hog..."take our picture, take my picture, smile - let's pose!" Craziness!! Pure wonderful!.

Barb - you can probably imagine what the measurements would have been...enjoy where you've arrived nonetheless!! I wish I would have taken a sideshot picture...although the frontal is bad enough!! UGH!!.

Goodnight, Crew!! Off to watch a movie alone while my hubby is gone...I am really enjoying this "me" time with the TV!!..

BOBBI - you are rockin' it - well, just everything! Great job!.

BRENDA - I'm making stuffed peppers tomorrow, never thought of Rotel, but now that you mention it, that'll be my go to method! Thanks..

COURTNEY - let us know what movie you ended up watching, it's always fun!..

Good Morning, Crew! A beautiful fall day here in SE MI!.

Measurements:.

I take mine religiously every month - something I got in the habit of with WW, although with WW not as frequent, since the weight loss was so slow. I use all 12 measuring spots that WW gave us. I lost over 60 inches!! They emphasized that even if we weren't losing pounds, we were still losing inches, so for me, it was imperative to measure so I could see some kind of progress..

Pictures:.

Wish I had taken a set of.

Official.

Before pics. I always meant to, and before I knew it, I was down a couple sizes! But, I was never camera shy, so I have lots of fat pictures..

Hi.

Bobbi!.

I get tired just reading all the things you do - I could never keep up! You're doing such a great job in T&M - keep it up!!.

Debbie.

- is that DH in your new avi? Nice one!.

Gotta run - have a FAUBLOUS OP Wednesday!..

I agree the muscle milk bars are on the sweet side. I like to have them as a treat once a week or so. They are definitely the best bar I can find that has stats in line with MF. Sorry to hear about your torn meniscus! I'm sure you will make a full recovery though. Do they take the torn meniscus out and replace it with something else? My dog has had 2 knee surgeries and they replace the ligament with fishing wire! ha!.

Jan.

I'm feeling for you on the poison ivy situation. A few years ago I sat in an ant pile (!!!) and I had over 100 bites all over the backs of my legs and other areas (!!!). So I feel your pain and wish you a speedy recovery!.

I was at the grocery store this morning and I found myself in the donut area. Off limits area for sure so not sure how I got there? I was looking at those donut holes thinking- can't hurt. Well I checked with my handy iphone app the calories in a donut hole are 80 calories! Well that made me run in the opposite direction! Don't think I was even seriously considering eating it but the temptation definitely went away when I saw the calories. Hope everyone is having a great OP day!..

Melissa, great job running from the donut isle!!.

Jan, sorry you are still battling the itchy stuff. Yuck! I am thankful that I haven't had that in years. I did recently pick up a bag of top soil, throw it over my shoulder and it happen to be full of ants..

I still have scabs all over my back.

Debbie, who's the new cutie in your picture?.

So..... I was a little bad today.... I am leaving my current office to go to another one of our locations so the group took me out to lunch. We went to Chili's... farily safe. We did not set at the bar area so I knew that I would not have to deal with the chips and salsa which I love.

I orderd the grilled chicken salad with the dressing on the side and had water to drink.... but I did have some chips. not too many, but a few. I do love their salsa and like to use that for my salad dressing..

The thing is I really did not want to mess up the good thing I've got going on. My super tight, body-hugging in all the right places, designer jeans are getting loose. I thought I would miss these jeans, but they make them in a smaller size too...

MELISSA - nice job running in the other direction from the donut holes and you got in a little run besides..

JAN - Yes, that's the other and real love of my life.....I felt a little guilty leaving Hugh there for so long (well, just a little itty bitty bit) but, alas, DH himself says I should frame the 8 x 10 signed pic of Hugh and me, but I think I'll frame only a 5 x 7 copy - just to have SOME dignity.....we'll see. (Dignity is not all it's cracked up to be sometimes...).

I'm still struggling with the 5-6 small meals since I am not doing that much Medifast. Of course, it seems I'm eating all the time at work, yet on 5 & 1 I did not feel that way... I find I have to be really careful with the thought patterns this week with all of the tempting junk food around the school. It is so easy to say "Just this once" or "I haven't done THAT for such a long time.".

But, alas, I find that I'm able to walk away - it does takes some fast self-talk and an occasional diet pop..

We ordered lunch in today in my office and it's easy to place a healthy order and be done with it. When everyone else opened up their coneys and fries and patty melts - I looked at it all and it smelled good but I was able to say to myself "it's the buns and the fries that got me to that awful shape before..." and it made it easier not to be envious... I was truly delighted with my salad and cottage cheese and it was very satisfying. Sure takes practice girls and Medifast teaches us that lesson very well, but we still have to do the work to carry forward..

It's beautiful beautiful beautiful here in SE Michigan as Jan said earlier, it's a great day to be outside and the pups are waiting for me by the back door..

Enjoy the day everyone!.

Happy Wednesday! I hope you all had a great on plan day. I stuck to my resting the knee maintenance plan. My calories are much lower than my training time. What has really made an impression on me is that it was real easy to knock 200 to 300 calories from my training meal plan because I was focusing on protein as opposed to carbs. I didn't even notice the lower calories or miss the food. For me this is a HUGE breakthrough in this new lifestyle..

Kim.

, you can do this. Remember that your water is very important in the chemical reaction that breaks down water. You wont be thirsty for this water, because your body doesnt really want to break down fat. It wants to store it for the day when you cant get any food. The problem is that we always have food, so it stores and stores.and soon you have a lot stored. You must drink more water than what you are thirsty for in order to have enough water to break down fat.

So drink up!.

Jan.

, my peas are definitely much cheaper! I can give you the science of poison ivy. The reaction to poison ivy is actually an allergic/immune system reaction to urushiol, the substance that is produced by the plant. Urushiol can be carried on clothing, shoes, etc and then transferred to the skin. Once it is on your skin, it is very difficult to wash off of the skin, as it attaches directly to cell membranes. Blisters cannot produce more urushiol, as it is only produced by the plants. Sometimes new blisters appear because the area was exposed to a lower amount of the urushiol and it took longer for the reaction to occur.

I ditto what Debbie says if it doesnt get any better, go to your doctor..

Bobbi.

, I hope your classes are going well..

Courtney.

, I have looked at the measurements for the size I was in and that makes me feel good! I went from a size 46 D bra to a 36 C. That makes me feel really great! Gotta love Victorias Secret. That is reason enough not to gain any weight back..

Hi.

Debbie.

! Where did Hugh go?.

Melissa.

, one of the problems with the meniscus is that it is very hard to fix or replace, so they will remove the torn section and leave me with as much as they can. Fortunately, I dont have any arthritis in the joint, so I shouldnt have a problem with that. Ok. For 80 calories I can have 4 dark chocolate Hershey Kisses. Dark chocolate or donut hole.easy choice for me. 80 calories for those little things.

I have a feeling I may never eat another..

Fight the good fight every day!.

Barb.

You are right, some days are tougher than others. Why is there so much food at school? You would think that the schedule should help to curb the amount of food available, but for some reason, it is worse. When students make things in foods class, they bring samples to their favorite teachers. Fortunately for me, I have a no eating in the lab rule, so I say thank you to the students and tell them I will eat it later. Then I can throw it away later and not offend anyone. What is a coney? Sounds dangerous..

BARB - I stay out of the overly food-ed teachers' lounge (since I am not one) but the Development/Alumni Office is next to a workroom where extra stuff is set out on the long counter daily...ugh..

***FOOD TALK ALERT***A coney is a coney island hot dog - you probably know what that is, but in Detroit, it's a staple, there are Greek coney island restaurants everywhere. Food network just had a battle of the coneys in Detroit, and one old Greek family split, way back when, and both run the most popular coneys that were pitted against each other. In case you don't know, a coney island is a hot dog with chili and usually onions and mustard, though they vary and people really have their specialties. Me? I WAS always a "two up, chili only!" (TWO coney dogs with chili only...) Not now - though I would not be against a hot dog without the bun with some light chili or just a small bit on it. Buns are out (in more ways than one...).

These restaurants always have great breakfasts and other typical stuff like patty melts and BLT's (the real ones), etc. Nowadays, my coney restaurant fare is a Greek salad with chicken. It is always a good choice..

Just went for a long walk and my dogs got so pooped out that I turned back just short of my goal. One of them was just sitting down and I didn't want to drag or carry him. Ha! I'm going to go out for a little bike ride to make up the difference. It's just too nice out to be inside. Hope it's a nice day for every one of you, too!..

Glad Barb asked what a coney was because I was scratching my head as well! I watched that show about the coney dogs too! Lol. It's called Food Wars and it's on the travel channel. If there is a show about food you can guarantee I watch it! My food tv addiction has replaced my eating food addiction as odd as that sounds..

Barb.

That's interesting about the meniscus. I've read it can be very painful I'd the meniscus folds over on itself. Guess it might be a good thing that yours just tore. Dark choc kisses are only 20 cals a piece? Who knew? That sounds like a good maintenance treat for sure. Ya I used to eat whole apple fritters every day basically so passing up a donut hole was big. I looked at the calories and knew one wouldn't be enough!..

Hey Debi, your poor dogs. It must be a little one. My room mate has a Bishon that will sit down when he's done. As opposed to sled dogs that will run until they drop. How was your bike ride?.

Barb, the meniscus is the most common knee surgery at our surgery center. I've known people to have both knees done the same day. They recover from meniscus "clean up" quickly. I'll be wishing the same for you..

Hi Sherry. Wow. 11 pounds to go. Can't wait to be where you are..

The wind is really blowing..

Debbie.

I would stay out of the room as well. I don't go anywhere near the downstairs faculty room during the holidays. Too many temptations..

Melissa.

That's my go to chocolate nibble. One doesn't do much damage. I try to have one at night and I just let it melt in my mouth. It takes a while to melt..

Christine.

I guess I should be glad that only one is damaged. He anticipates I'll be back at work after the break and back in my running shoes in January. The funny thing is that I had to teach cartilage this week in anatomy class. The surgeon said he would tape it and give me the video and pictures on a disk for my students. Now if he would just give me his office knee joint model!.

Melissa, here is one of the formulas I use. I like to calculate it myself as I want to make sure that the calculators on line are accurate..

This is one of the most common ones I have found..

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years ).

655 + (4.35 * 138 pounds) + ( 4.7 * 67 inches) - (4.7 * 50) = 1335.2.

I hope this helps..

Anyway, out in the field reviewing jobs, went to lunch.... chili's again..... and those d@mn chips and salsa showed up at the table again. So, 2 days in a row, I have eat chips and salsa.

I did order a grilled chicken salad. I ate half at lunch and half for dinner. I have had 2&2 today. I am debating eating one more Medifast meal. I don't want to wake up hungry, but I don't want to add many more calories to my day.

Hope that's somewhat acurate..

Hi, Crew! Had a long day, the Homecoming event on Saturday has this Alumni Director very very busy. In about two weeks all of our major fundraisers for this semester are done and we can all actually enjoy November and Christmas. We are already feeling stressed in our office and it's early int he school year. I caught up on everything today and got ready for Saturday and AM taking tomorrow off. I try to always have Friday off and hope nothing comes up so I can do my catching up around home..

My bike ride fell through last night when I headed out of the driveway and fell right over! My tires were flat and I didn't realize it until I hit the ground. i'm tough, though, not a scratch..

DH pumped them back up tonight and I'll be breezin' around the subdivision tomorrow. I can get 6 miles if I hit all of the cul-de-sacs and side streets..

We have a good wind blowing and I will be staying up to see what the weather is for tomorrow. You PA girls are getting hit hard! Hang on!.

In an hour and 20 minutes, I can shout TGIF! (our time zone, at least.) I plan to be asleep by then, so.

Happy Friday, Crew!! Hooray for Friday. (:.

Last night after I posted around 11:00 or so, I was looking at my page and reading the comments by others along the way. I have to tell you that I find those earlier comments on my page - to be absolutely sweet and comforting. All of the "atta girl" and "way to go" and "4 lbs. to go...." are all so fun to look at now. I still find them today to be very uplifting and motivating! It is a good reminder that I have journeyed hard to get here and that I have had the most awesome support all the way.... ! Truly, the words that come to mind are: comforting, encouraging, supportive, affirming.

It is amazing to me how wonderful they continue to make me feel today. I not only look better, but I feel so good inside that I have been able to accomplish this goal. I know I need to stay right here with you as I continue to feel good and look good and spread the word..

Just an observation that I am sharing and hope that it encourages you along the way!..

You heard it first from the Midwest.....

Quiet day here yesterday, but WAY busy for me - meetings, meetings, meetings - so I didn't even get to pop in to read much. Lately we've been at the backup center on Fridays (16 miles from home, no lights, 5 stop signs), but today I have to go to HQ for more meetings.

(60 miles, 40 of it freeway). Did I mention I don't like to drive? Have I said how I hate my commute?.

Sorry, a little crabby this morning...I went out after work with my girlfriend last night and didn't get home til LATE..

I'm doing the 100 days til Christmas challenge; Friday is reporting day, so since I'm a daily weigher anyway, I reported 1 pound down. I set my goal for the challenge at lose 15, which would put me just below goal. When I did that, I thought it would be easy...WHAT was I thinking? I was thinking because I had been off plan for a while that my body would react the way it did when I first started and have big losses the first month.....

NOT.

But isn't that what you've been saying? It gets harder each time?.

YES IT DOES!!.

OK - Done whining - hope others take heed and learn. I didn't.

I better keep moving - my first meeting is early so it means I'll be traveling during the worst of the rush hour. Better get going!!!.

Have a FABULOUS OP FRIDAY!!..

Happy Friday. Weigh in day....an I stay in maintenance. I am actually a little low today, but there is a reason. I am loving life! Gotta love this maintenance stuff. So tonight I am having a dinner party. Warning food talk.....

I haven't had it in well over a year and 1/2. Probably longer. Pasta was a diet staple for a long time, so I have stayed away from it. Well it is also one of my specialties and one of my friends asked me to make it, if I thought it would be OK. A test for sure, ezpecially since I am not exercising until Monday.

I never dropped below about 1050 a day. I wasn't hungry or light headed. I had a few extra Medifast meals than normal. I actually have 1800 calories in the bank! So tonight, I won't go overboard, but I will enjoy a small piece, salad and a piece of garlic bread. I calculate about 1200 calories for my planned food tonight.

The old me would have just eaten all week and all weekend. Thank you MF!.

Sherry.

Enjoy your vacation. The sun came out this afternoon, so I got a chance to get outside with my students this afternoon. Nothing like a little field work to end the week. The fun part of my job..

Melissa.

You are welcome. That is the one that seems to work best for me. I have seen some that put me higher, but then I have a harder time maintaining. When I'm exercising, it doesn't seem to be as big a deal..

Jan.

You are so right. When you change your metabolism it becomes much harder to lose weight. I worry about with my decrease in exercise level, so not only did I cut back the calories, but I cut back on the % of carbs versus protein..

Brenda.

Every pound is one pound closer to goal! Hang in there..

It is friday and I am so glad.... I get to sleep in tomorrow. Sometimes the kids sleep til 8 or 8.30 and I really hope they do tomorrow.

School is going great. I went out tonight and got a desk so I can study away from the tv..

My grandson had his cast removed when I took him in and it was so funny, he has a noodle ankle. His muscles went lax being in the cast and so they have to fit him in an ankle brace while he does physical therapy to build up his gait. He is a great guy, taking it all in stride..

My son made bbq ribs tonight and they were very good. I had a baked sweet potato with it and it was just so yummy. Maybe cuz I didnt cook it.

I will go to bed now and be back tomorrow..

Melissa.

, I was scared this summer when I was in Maine without my scale and the security of 5+1. I did gain a pound, tightened things up when I got home and all was ok. For me, it is important to know that my weight fluctuates 2 pounds throughout the week, depending on when I go to the bathroom, what I ate, how I exercised....and the list goes on. When I see 139 on the scale, I tighten things up. I generally range from 136 to 138. I don't worry about this until I go a week without seeing 138.

I'm not sure if this makes any sense to anyone other than me, but it works. Dinner was well worth banking the calories. We had a great time, made even better knowing that it didn't do any damage!! Slowly but surely I am getting the hang of this maintenance thing..

Have a great evening everyone!.
