Quick question: Who is the actress in the UK Nutrisystem advert? Thanks for any answer. 2nd question I got is.. I got this email this morning. Any thougts???.

Michelle Obama serves food to D.C. poor and homeless, but....

First Lady Michelle Obama showed up Thursday as a surprise and welcome volunteer at Miriam's Kitchen, a soup kitchen for homeless poor people not far from the White House. She brought with her some food donated by White House staff. The first lady served up mushroom risotto and broccoli to a long line of homeless men and women during part of her volunteer time..

If this unidentified meal recipient is too poor to buy his own food, how does he afford a cell phone? And if he is homeless, where do they send the cell phone bills?.

Priceless...Homeless with a cell phone??????..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably can help you..

Doesn't everyone have a cell phone slapped up to their mellon these days..

Maybe he's just a blinged out homeless guy with a cell phone and a pair of Oakley sunglasses..

Who's to say he even has a phone bill, maybe he just uses it to take pictures..

Maybe he had a limo drop him off too. The guy needs something to eat, thats all that matters...

Ignoring all side issues (smile) if he has a relative who pays a cellphone bill for him why doesn't said relative assist him in ways more relevant to his wellbeing... such as shelter and food and work search assistance?..

Because many people don't like being baby sitters. Maybe this is the only way they can keep in touch with him. Who knows?..

More importantly, that food doesn't look nutrisystem friendly. Shame on those soup kitchens fattening up the hungry!!!!..

You guys just don't understand: having a phone so that you can figure out where the dice game is or to talk to your friends about the most recent episode of Dancing With the Stars is far more important than having a roof over one's head, especially if you can get others to pay for said roof...

WOW..

As a bunch of people dealing with our own issue - BEING FAT ASSES - in our own way, I am very surprised at the lack of sympathy or understanding here. I could call all of you "stupid fat people who should be fat becasue you've had every opportunity not to stuff your face and get out there and exercise", but I don't because I understand that we all (myself included of course) have issues/problems to deal with and we need each other's support..

Like the previous posts, there are several reasons why/how he could have a cell phone. I have a drawer filled with old cells that, with a little charge, can be used for pictures or whatever. There are a few people on these boards who have recently lost their jobs too. They have what they need now, but with no job and no support in 6 mos. they could be homeless too..

We are the last group of people to be judging others on their lives...

I think we are missing the humor meant by the original poster. It is a little funny that a homeless guy would be taking photo's with a cell phone in a food line. It's just an odd/funny looking photo...

You are right, of course. No way to know. However, I've worked volunteer work at homeless shelters and done outreach to veterans, and none of those homeless ever looked like the guy in the photo. So excuse me if it seems rather strange to me..

Knowing the Obama machine, some staffer probably gave the homeless guy a phone in order to stage a photo opportunity...

I'm surprised no one's mentioned that a lot of people have cell phones where you pre-pay for the service. No bills, no credit checks. I would think that's the most likely scenario here. As someone who sees people from all socioeconomic levels on a daily basis, I am not surprised at all. You would be shocked at how some people choose to spend their money. I personally have one family who were living in their car with my patient, who is extremely medically fragile and technology dependent, yet mom had gold teeth, cell phone and blue tooth speaker for her ear, and clothes that were designer-label.

Well, almost nothing...

Maybe that wasn't a homeless person - maybe he's one of the soup kitchen workers...

If I may chime in for a sec... This was discussed on a radio show I heard the other day....

WE are basically in a society that if you don't have a cell phone you do not appear to afford one. Which may be the case, may not be. However, they were talking abou the number of homeless people with cell phones. There is such a thing as a prepaid cell phone, thus no contract, no address required for bills to be sent ect. For a homeless person wanting to go out and get a job to better their situation, a cell phone is something that they can be contacted on, something that will get their foot in the door, and much cheaper at the moment then trying to figure out rent...

Heh...that's funny. Probably politically incorrect and you'll get some backlash. However, something tells me you don't care...

We have a guy who comes around where I work that is a bit, shall we say, on the slow side. We love him dearly and have a great time joking around with him. He is 100% subsidized by government and social services and if he gets money in his pocket from one thing or another it burns a hole. He is so simple and if there was ever a person that did not need a cell phone, well he is it. One day he shows up and low and behold, he has a cell phone. He has had it for a year and still only has one number in it and as of last week has his first picture on it..

He has provided us with some of the greatest quotes in history. One day he shows up all excited as he is in a play and he asks if one of us can give him a ride on the upcoming Thu night for his performance. We tell him sure thing, not a problem, what time do you need to be there. His exact response was "On time" I wish I had employees that could follow that motto..

If this guy can have a cell phone, I believe ANYONE can have one...
