Got a question... Why aren't my ratings showing up on all Medifast recipes? Hoping for any answer. Second question.. While visiting with my GB surgeon yesterday, he told me that my WBC was a very small amount. He asked me to see my PMD and see if he wanted to put me on antibiotics. I went today.

As usual my Dr. has been deployed.

I am so not happy with this visit. He told me he really liked my purse and asked me where I got it. He then said to me "let me tell you everything that might go wrong with your.

Surgery.

." I told him that I had several.

Support groups.

, have done extensive.

Research.

, and that this has not been an overnight decision. He told me to not pay to much attention to what "ya'all" have to say and I replied that this support group consists of people who have had the.

Surgery.

Or are waiting to have it. I also told him that this group has candid dicussions and we have no reason to give each other false information. This NP is only about 50 lbs. lighter than I am and thinks he is God's gift to the medical community. I am calling my GB surgeon before I take anything he has prescribed for me. I have a bad feeling about this guy.

Not alarming. Thanks for letting me vent...

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I got an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could help you..

I think you are right to go with your instincts first. Get that second opinion from your own doctor. I had a Dr. years ago (an Endocrynologist) All he did was talk about his army career, and before I saw him, I just had had a milignant tumor and one lobe of my thyroid gland removed. Then I was referred to this bozo and he had said that if he had had his way, he would've put me on a water only diet, because of my weight size back then. May I also mention, That I had just had a baby girl three weeks prior to my thyroid.

Surgery.

Back in 1976. So yeah get that second opinion, there can be some real duzies out there...

I've run into several docs over the years who seem to practice "attitude" rather than science-based medicine. I've learned to always trust myself, always investigate and question medical advice. Good docs don't mind getting questions from informed patients. I've learned to.

Avoid.

Those who are threatened by it...

Trust your instincts and go back to your surgeon. I think it might be good to know WHY your white count is elevated so you can then treat the cause. Taking an antibiotic without having a specific reason is not a good idea..

And, yes, there are good doctors and bad doctors. Stick with the good ones and let them know how much you appreciate them..

I spoke with my surgeons assistant this afternoon. He is contacting my surgeon to discuss with him the situation. My surgeon is out of town at this time but will return the message that he has for me as to whether or not to proceed with the meds the crazy Nurse practioner gave me. Until then I am to hold off...

Always trust your gut when it comes to your health, always, always, always! When I'm seeing a new health care provider, I bring someone with me - especially if I'm actually sick. Somehow it decreases the lording of God like power some physicians seem to think is their birth right and a third party usually results in respectful conversation rather than attitude dispensed as medicine. (Starting doing this after I had to see a new MD who told me "You don't have a urinary tract infect, your problem is you're too damned fat." He didn't check my urine or ask a single question. "The cure for you is a little self-control." Of course, being the respectful medical professional & consumer that I am, I responded in like..."It's so sad when insecure men with small genitalia feel compelled to demean other people to make themselves feel better about their inadequate equipment." I than left, went to work, got an order from a doc on the floor for a UA, and another for antibiotics when it came back dirty. We always deserve to be treated respectfully at the very least...
