First off, Will someone tell me a fast Nutrisystem diet? Hoping for any response. My other question... Tonight ends Day 10 on NS..

My biggest surprise: virtually no alcohol consumption. Yup, I enjoy(ed) wine nearly nightly before NS. Thought I would miss it dearly. But, with the exception of two glasses during a Valentine's evening dinner and show, I have had none and had no desire for it, even as my wife has a glass at the dinner table. Does the Nutrisystem diet have any impact on alcohol desire?.

I have weighed myself in the morning after waking since starting ten-days ago watched the scale reading drop from 196lbs to 191lbs. But, last night, for the heck of it, I weighed myself before bed and was 195lbs. Back on the scale this morning, I'm at 191lbs. Is my scale broken or can there be that wide a weight swing?..

Weight goes up and down all the time. Could be water weight, could be the case of snickers you keep hidden under your desk (kidding). As long as the overall trend is down or steady I wouldn't worry about it...

I frequently weight myself both before bed and upon waking in the morning and there is always a drop. That drop consists of:.

1. urine output between going to bed and weighing.

2. water loss through evaporation.

3. basal metabolic rate calories burned overnight..

I think as long as you weigh in at the same time every time, you'll know how much you've lost. It is not important the weight but the weight lost since last time...

I weigh in at the same point in my morning routine every day. I try not to weigh myself at any other time because it's always higher..

The alcohol is something I thought I'd miss more. I'm usually a daily drinker, so the lack of any beer or wine (or the occasional single malt) is only helping my weight loss. I promised myself a month without a single drink, and after 30 days I'll evaluate how I feel about it and may continue the abstinence...

You want to see how much your weight varies? Step on the scale first thing in the morning, then eat breakfast, drink water, take a shower and what ever else you do before getting dressed, then step back on the scale before you get dressed. I'll bet there's about a 2 pound difference..

Don't let it screw with your head. As the others said. Pick a day of the week, a time of day and weigh with the same amount of clothing on. That should be your "official" weight...

I equate one pound a week to stopping the booze. I was a heavy drinker and the 4200 cal a week in alcohol made a big difference for me. Now after one year a single drink knocks me on my A$$. Also not having a bar bill two or three times a week more that pays for NS. All in all it's cheaper and "less filling"...

Several pounds of weight swing are definitely possible for a ~200lb man. Its easy to see an increase if my muscles are sore from exercise, or if I eat something off plan that's high in sodium. Its also possible your scale is inaccurate. I had an old spring style scale that would vary reading plus or minus 10lbs with where My feet were positioned, a newer Digital LCD scale gives much more repeatable readings. The timely multiple meals of low glycemic index have helped reduce my appetite for off plan things. Its the day's I'm running behind on my plan (>3hrs between meals) that I'm more tempted...

Steveisgood, I have had the same experience so far. This is my 9th day on the Nutrisystem program during which I have had no wine. For years now, before starting the plan, I had a number of glasses of wine each night. I would come home and feel like I needed a drink; I don't feel that way now. I am very supprised that I don't miss it...

Yeah, I was probably drinking a pound a week of booze also. The money I now save on it is pretty much off-setting the cost of the Nutrisystem food. That's an added bonus..

Besides, you know, having a healthy liver and saving brain cells. Little things like that...

I always weigh myself at night to see how much of a difference there is in the morning..

I average about a 3-4 lb loss during sleep...

Gee! I thought I was the only one to do weird things like that. My wife calls it obsessive! I always know which one counts - the lowest one! lol..

I have fun weighing myself before bed and then guessing my morning weight. Like the others, I can count on a 3-4 lb loss just by sleeping! I figure all I have to do is sleep 90 hours straight to get to goal..

(Actually, Discobolus explains the real reason). It's normal..

How about a medically induced coma? Hey, there's an idea!.

Gordon..
